Even though the picture quality is not the best this is a great product.
The night vision is fantastic and the alerts work well.
Charging lasts long enough for us and so does the range.
The talking feature is not working too well and is very patchy so we don’t really use it but apart from that it’s a strong recommendation.
The camera is great
necessary visual quality in both night and day vision, the app is ok and works well with the camera. Only down sides is the light but it’s not that bad and the nose it makes with you remotely turn it, but agin not that bad, over very pleased with the camera.
The monitor is good apart from one major aspect, which is the sound went really quiet after two weeks, tho the sound on the app was fine so it’s definitely a problem with the monitor! Amazon tack no response apart from one major aspect, which is the sound went really quiet after two weeks.
Amazon and the seller tock no responsibility for this so I had to call BT which was a nightmare. They just passed you from department department, so that is a very big down side.
After doing some research, it does seem to be a problem with this monitor type, but only seems to affect some of them not all of them.
It would be a fantastic product if only for the sound problems!
In summary-
*cameras is great
* monitor is good,-
The controls could be more simple,
Easy to set up
Sound problems – poor customer service
Good image in both day and night mode
Very good range, even in an old town house across three floors
Despite the sound problems and poor customer service, still one of the best baby monitors on the market at the moment for a reasonable price
Very clear picture. Would recommend.
Sounds good. Sometimes may take time to connect.
Bought this to replace our cheaper monitor which can no longer hold a charge. Have only been using it for 2 days but seems great so far! The picture quality is much better than our old one (which I’d expect for the price) and it has some useful features (e.g. ability to set the screen to switch off after different time intervals, and to switch back on when movement is detected). Also when you mute, it still has a noise level display, so you can see if there’s noise. Only negative so far is that the info on the screen is displayed in a purple colour which is a bit difficult to make out when it’s on night vision (as it’s a similar shade to the grey tones in the picture), so I have to look closely to see what the temp is in the room. Also I don’t think you can display the time which is a bit annoying (though I might be wrong!).
The monitor is great overall but when you have to talk on the parent monitor it takes while for the voice to go through. Also the volume on the parent monitor isn’t loud.
Great product, very clear image and very easy to set up.
I don’t think the perfect baby cam exists but this is very good for what we needed. Only draw back is that you have to have quite far to see the baby in cot but I think it’s the best on the market for what it is after a very extensive internet research !! Also agree with other reviews, the night light is annoying but needed for the night vision cam. We went for this one because we wanted on the phone too but I just use the monitor and haven’t needed the phone app at all. End result, it’s not perfect but we’re happy with it. Would buy again!
We have this monitor we’ve had it for 18 months now. it’s been great for us. The screen comes up when he makes noise and has button to bring up video as well. You can talk back but we never used this feature. Because of the price difference we bought the one with the smaller screen but we are still happy, it does the job and easy to use. I will mention that we bought an extra arm to hold it in the air above the cot (not from BT), and that made it perfect.
I’ve been using this monitor for over 4 months now. We bought this for our 7 year old who recently started having seizures when waking in the morning. It has been a god send and has given us peace of mind whilst he sleeps and so we can watch him when we’re downstairs, its also allowed us to get some much needed sleep (he doesn’t have to sleep with us now) since the seizures began without being worried about not hearing him in the night. The camera is brilliant and sound is good.
The screen on the monitor itself is a little grainy, though when logged into the app the camera picture is crystal clear so I think this is the screen itself not the camera, which is excellent quality.
The background volume at night is quiet, no hissing or buzzing from the monitor. When there is movement or sound coming from his room the volume is good, I can hear my son turning over in bed for example.
Pan and tilt settings in the camera are good. Microphone quality is good. There is a slight delay on talkback if you want to speak to your child. But other than that no complaints.
Battery life is ok, lasts a good few hours but the low battery alert is an annoying sound, though we leave it plugged in most of the time.
The lullabies are a bit naff, but we haven’t really used them.
The app is one of the main reasons I chose this. You can take snapshots from the camera and also videos which I have done a few times when noticing potential seizures, though the video format it records in is odd and not a recognised format on my samsung phone, I had to download another app to open them. You can set up noise/movement alerts on your phone too which are useful, but sometimes the monitor is a bit sensitive which means a few annoying notifications, but its fine. The camera has lost connection in the app once but connected again easily turning the cam off and on.
All in all, a good monitor, I’m looking to purchase another for my 2nd baby due in a few weeks. You can add multiple cameras to this monitor so I’m hoping to do that, though I wish you could purchase the cameras on their own without having to buy another screen too.
We’ve taken the camera with us on holiday and it connects fine, just plugged in and go, without wi-fi. This was a bonus for us.
I would highly recommend this monitor. Its better than I anticipated after researching so many video monitors that seem to cost the earth!
I’ll start with what I don’t like..
– the camera rotation is only from side to side.. You have to tilt it back and forth manually.
– sometimes the connection is a little unreliable; I found that I have to turn the camera off and on again occasionally for the audio to transmit properly.
– it isn’t clear that in order to observe the camera from multiple phones, each phone must log in to the same account.
So that being said, this is a fantastic device and it has completely changed the way we can enjoy our evenings. We are able to put our son down and get that peace of mind that he is fine while we’re relaxing in another room.
The sound quality and mic sensitivity are very good, we can hear our baby starting to stir. Being able to rotate the camera means we have a way of testing if the camera connection is still fine. There are lights indicating noise levels, so you get a very clear visual cue that noises are happening.
The night vision camera is very clear and the camera itself has a very unobtrusive orange light on the front, which doesn’t light up the room like some devices do.
The talk-back feature is not amazing; there is some delay, so you have to get into the rhythm of it to be heard clearly.
The phone app video feed is only as good as our WiFi.. The video monitor device is an excellent backup.
The power cables are nice and long, so you’re not tethered to a plug socket, but the devices are powered via micro USB, so it’s easy to find an alternative power cable.
We’re glad we bought it.
Picture quality is amazing, very clear, even on night vision, very easily see my baby’s chest moving up and down with her breathing. Currently had no problems with the battery life, however I have only had the product a week.
My only criticism is that I have had to buy an addition mount as the camera does not angle far enough down in the set up I have in the bedroom.
Overall, great product, would definitely recommend
Works very well only complaint is that it is not easy to by a second camera for the unit separately and when you final get the link to the off site BT page the extra camera is 70 + all the other cameras don’t work this this base unit ie if you have a 3000 4000 or 6000 camera laying around it is not compatible with this one due to the smart features! But once you have parted with the cash for a second camera it works grea
After doing quite a bit of research, I am happy with my choice of monitor. The picture quality when in night mode is nice and clear & I can easily see my baby’s movements and that he is breathing (if the lighting in the room isn’t quite dark enough it can be fuzzy and unclear until it goes into night vision. Mode). It picks up sound well but not too sensitive- my baby is a noisy sleeper and snuffles/wriggles a lot which is why we moved him into his own room- but these noises aren’t picked up thankfully or I’d be awake all night! The monitor is a good size & easy to navigate. I generally have the monitor plugged in over night, so can’t really comment on battery life but I have used it unplugged for short times and it doesn’t appear to drain battery life quickly.
My only criticism would be the app you can download so you can see the monitor on your phone – temperamental at times and seems to lose connection to the camera on numerous occasions.
Very clear image, day or night, with decent sized monitor to watch on. We’ve tried three diff cameras and this is by far the best! The connection is very reliable too and you can watch it through the monitor or on the app through WIFI. One complaint I would have, is that it’s disruptive at night. Even on the lowest volume setting, it’s still pretty loud, and the same for brightness, so not great if you’re a light sleeper. It just needs more adjustability on both.
happy with product. however
-temperature is not accurately reflected as camera device generates heat and influences the thermostat within device.
-app not possible to download if your AppStore is from outside the UK
-zoom option on home handset has only two zoom distances to choose from
-battery of home handset doesn’t last long. need to keep it plugged most of the time for recharging
-cable of camera is not long enough
-recorded video not able to save on your phone only on app. if shared then only shared as a link not able to download.
-pictures however are saved on your phone
on a scale of 0-10 we give it a 7
This seems to do the job. Fairly easy to set up, doesn’t require WiFi, good audio quality and has temperature as well. Overall a good buy.
However, picture quality? How this can in any way be described as HD quality is beyond me. This is like looking at a Nokia 3210 screen levels of pixelated, I’ve seen more pixels in the original snake game than there are in this screen. Honestly achieving the right angle from the weirdly not adaptive camera can be difficult, not sure how I’d describe the odd zoom and angles the camera has, but once you’re set up it will do. Realistically you don’t need HD quality when it’s the sound you’re really after, but it definitely 100% is not HD in any way at all.
This is a fantastic product! There have been a few less than flattering reviews on here but trust those that rave about it.
I am so pleased with this baby monitor. The quality of the video feed is fantastic. The picture quality is so clear and the night vision is fantastic too.
The lag between real time and the video stream is less than half a second, which is amazingly quick. The sound quality is brilliant too. It really is the best quality image I’ve seen from a baby monitor. I think some people who have reviewed have unreasonably high expectations of what a baby monitor can do, as if it should be perfectly live streamed with absolutely no delay at all.
The app also works brilliantly and is easy to set up. From the app you can pan with the camera and zoom the image in. It also gives you accurate temperature readings which helps with ensuring your baby is safe.
The main worry my wife and I had with putting our daughter into her own room was that we thought we’d be running in every 5 minutes to check she’s still breathing. You can actually see this from the video stream, it is that clear!
I cannot praise this product highly enough and would recommend it to any of my friends or family without a second thought.
Because we live in an old house with a thick gable end wall The Wall does a great job of blocking almost 100% of wi-fi and 100% of RF signals. With the nursery located in an extension beyond the The Wall we have had problems with range on various devices and therefore signal strength was our primary concern when buying our 4th(!) baby monitor. We originally bought the GHB Baby Monitor: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07NZP6C6K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for our 2nd born but as soon as I walked past The Wall into the main living areas of the house it immediately cut out so it was sent it back (hassle free).
I looked again for the old V-tech VM343 which we used for our firstborn which reached the first room beyond The Wall and had good range in the other direction (outside) and in stud wall houses we stayed in on holiday etc, but looks like it no longer exists (after about 2 years of usage the V-tech one day inexplicably would no longer connect to the base unit in the bin it went and we continued with a BT- audio only monitor which has excellent range coverage in all rooms for obvious reasons).
After the GHB Baby Monitor experience I figured a 50/50 chance of a signal beyond The Wall but it has an even more powerful range as the old V-tech; not only does it breach The Wall but it also pushes through the second internal chimney wall into our living room that the old V-tech could never do. This means we can have crystal clear and close monitoring whilst our feet are up watching the TV 🙂 Spending the extra seems to correlate with a more powerful signal.
The image is crystal clear both normal and night vision and being able to move the camera remotely is useful.
However, the reason this does’t get five stars is two fold: First the BT Smart Control app, which would have been really useful, is utterly useless because it is not available for download in my country on Android. I’ve yet to try the OS option but come on! Secondly the interface with the parent unit is a bit clunky, e.g. you cannot move the camera with the direction buttons; in the first instance these operate the brightness and sound etc but you naturally think ‘arrows’ mean direction. You have to press the OK button first which changes the use of the arrow buttons to movement… no big deal but not intuitive.
All in all a great monitor and the best we’ve had so far and unlike many i believe the 250 meter range is not lies. So if you live in an old house with thick walls this should do the trick.
It is good package. Easy to set up and easy to use. It doesn’t need to be any better to achieve its primary function. I’m more than happy and it provides me with the confidence to leave the room.
For specifics: the 5″ screen is OK and the picture quality is good enough to show you what you need to see, but it is far from the crisp images we’re all accustomed to today. The image when viewed from the app is brilliant though, the camera is sharp, clear and much better than the provided screen.
Night vision is good and adjusts well between high and low light situations.
Lullabies sound tinny but I’ve Alexa for that.
Linking via alexa is novel but for me has limited real life application.
I’m very happy with this unit.
I was looking for a video monitor that included a screen but also could connect to a mobile phone. This was one of the few which could. I think the quality is fine in the daytime and at night (I don’t know if some people who complain about quality want 4k movie quality – if so this is not it but I don’t think you will find that on any!) for what it is I think the quality is fine. I like that you can set the screen so that it turns off after a set time and only turns on if the baby makes a noise or moves alot. You can talk to the baby via the app or monitor but I don’t think I would do that.
It connects quite well with the screen but I have found the app connection a bit of hit and miss, sometimes it connects but other times it doesn’t (especially if you have turned the camera off before) and you have to press a button on the camera – problem is when you press this button it makes a really loud noise which will definitely wake a sleeping baby! Another thing is if you have slow wifi the phone app video is slow and skips frames.
I have found the range fine for our flat. I would recommend this but hope they can have a software update which makes the app always connect easily.
