Putting Aside my Bias for Corsairs Quality Products, I have used this PSU in my >2500 Gaming Setup with 0 faults for Months, my only real complaint is that on install the Wires were Quite Short and Tough to bend, other than that this is a Very good Product if you need the Beefiness of a 1000W PSU!
its good but the cables are very hard to bend and cable manageme
very good power supply… only small minus is bed very hard cables…. rest very good nice and quiet powerfull , good price
I previously owned another Corsair 860W PSU that lasted me 8 years, They are great quality, But recently it started to show some age and had some cool whine and turned off twice, I decide to get the newer version and it’s as good as ever, silent, easy to install comes with all cables and extra, and a good price for how long it will las
Power Supply does the job for 100%. Good quality, level of the noise is low. Only one issue I met that was installing… cables. They are very hard to bend. Good cables management is almost impossible in some of the PC cases. My graphic card requires 3 8-pin cables. It was real horror connecting them from graphic card to the Power Supply.
I upgraded my GPU about a month ago, and decided to go with this 1000w power supply as a side upgrade. It does it’s job, I can’t really hear it and I don’t think you can ask more from a PSU.
It’s modular, so you can pick and choose the cables you want to use. And that is fortunate since the cables are on the stiffer/thicker side and that can make managing and hiding them a bit tricky. (Especially the 24 pin cable with the bulge on it)
All in all: I’d recommend it.
This power supply met all my expectations and more. It’s silent and works well with most setups. I did have a massive struggle putting in cables and fitting it in the case however due to this, it’s now sticking out about an inch.
DO NO buy from Amazon, used product contains modular cables form different PSU, Hazzard of permanent damage to hardware if used!
It does the job at least for the next 10 years
It’s nice, compact and silent PSU in any games.
I tested with 2 different graphics cards: Gygabite 2080 8GB and ASUS TUF 3080 OC Edition 12GB.
I used the same PC and same monitor, DELL Ultra HD monitor with resolution 3440×1440.
It’s work silent with RDR2, Death Stranding and Cyberpunk2077 on both cards.
But starts generating a very annoying coil whine when working with 3080 in Unreal Editor 5, in City Demo especially. I am disappointed especially, because this coil whine happens on the load of 600W for this 1000W PSU. What is 60% of the maximum load only.
I think the general problem of this PSU is non-digital control which can’t handle properly the high end GPUs.
I have this HX1000 replaced by BeQuiet! Dark Power Pro 1500 and have no coil whine at all.
PRO:
– compact;
– modular;
– silent;
CONTRA:
– coil whine on RTX 3080 OC card.
Pros: Good power supply. Best value for money at 1000w. Does what it is supposed to.
Cons: Louder than my BeQuiet PSU which really annoyed me at first. The Corsair PSU is still quite quiet though. And the cables where super fiddly, I cut myself multiple times trying to bend the cables in the case.
Very powerful power supply unit.
Modular.
A bit expensive, but will do for most 9f the setups
Its good in basically every way exept one, the pcie and 24pin cables have this giant stiff bit on it and it makes it a pain to plug it into anything, I couldn’t actually fit it in the grommets that I used to have them go through, luckily it’s long enough to go round the entire case I have and plug in but it’s not nice having them solid.
Purchased as my older icute supply was potentially causing two of my drops to be unrecognised.
Mostly easy to install, only issue was the main 24 pin connector, on the Motherboard the 20+4 was an integral socket, whereas the cable supplied had a lip between the two parts.
had to shave the lip off to be able to install into MOBO.
Otherwise all looks good and runs silently. Time will tell if the drive issues disappear but worth paying the extra for a higher quality more efficient supply for the reassurance.
Brilliant, worth the extra money. This runs well, is quiet, and provides a decent power level for the subsystem I am using it for. Stable and reliable. I previously used cheaper PSUs but it’s really worth the extra money for a decent unit like this.
I am running it at 80% and have confidence in it.
I would buy this again for a similar situation without hesitation.
Of particular benefit is the fully-modular aspect: no more ridiculous octpus of cables getting in the way. You just use the cables you need, which are all supplied (and are of high quality).
Nice PSU, only thing is the rubber is kind of hard at the end of the cables. It made installing the top radiator a little tricky once the cpu power was connected up, as the cables did not want to flex out of the way. Other than that no complaints.
The rubbers on the ends of the cables are like stones. it definitely doesn’t bend. I may even have broken the input of the motherboard while plugging the 24-pin cable. Congratulations Corsair. for being one of the biggest mistakes in my life!
Note; I changed my mind a little. quiet and stable. It’s just that the cables are very hard and don’t bend.
This is a very decent and efficient PSU but I found the supplied cables to be very rigid and slightly long. For example, the GPU 6+2pins have very long daisy chains and are quite fiddly to install. My 3080 needed 3 connectors and the supplied ones looked terrible and prevented the installation of the side panel. I had to buy extensions, albeit more attractive but not cheap.
I purchased this PSU under the impression that it was silent as advertised in an interview with the PSU design lead on YouTube. Item was fine, packaged well, looks ‘okay’ for a gold-rated PSU– my only problem is that when the fan is under load, there is an audible high-pitched squeaking; I’m unsure why this is. I contacted Corsair support- support provided was good, but they replied to me after I had returned my product as I was concerned for the 14-day returns guarantee included with British law when purchasing online.
It’s an alright piece of kit if they don’t all squeak. Bit of a shame, really.
Was worried when looking at the pictures as it looked irregularly long. After checking dimensions and receiving I see it is standard atx size. Will fit in basically all atx cases.
Bought the i variant as the regular was not in stock. Recieved the psu but I honestly can’t be bothered to plug the fancy i-cable thing in and get it to work. I think the power supply isn’t worth the extra and works fine as it comes. I honestly can’t even hear it when I play games with a 3080.
With the recent surge (excuse the pun) of prices for PSU’s I was very surprised when I found this listing selling a platinum grade power supply for a price the same as the model below it. I assembled my new pc and unfortunately the power supply was faulty, it would randomly make the computer restart, no blue screens or anything just a sudden unexplained restart. I called up Amazon, who within 20 minutes had me on the phone with Corsair support.
This is why I’m giving the product 5 stars. The Corsair technician listened to my problem over the phone and decided that I should return the product (RMA) for a replacement. I was anticipating a very long wait for a replacement however the day my return arrived with them they dispatched my replacement just a few hours after. It arrived fairly quickly and once set up everything was working perfectly.
I’m very happy with Corsair and amazed at their customer service. Not only did I get a great deal at first I also had great support and now I’m going to buy Corsair psus for the rest of my life.
I bought this item to replace an older EVGA power supply which was nearing its 10 year anniversary. I decided to make this rare upgrade and the first brand that came to mind was Corsair.
I bought this item based on good reviews and also based on efficiency. I can only say this was easy to install, looks good in my system, and most importantly, it keeps all my PC components nice and stable.
I have an overclock on both my I9 10900K and RTX 3080, and also have XMP profile enabled for my DDR4 RAM. I have about 3 SSD’s and 2 HDD’s and so far this PSU can handle it all!
Must buy.
I used this PSU in my main system for 5 years. It is very quiet and no noise could be heard from it(Zero fan) when drawing 600 watts from the wall. it powered two Gigabyte 7970 Ghz edition GPU’s and a i7 4790k. It also was used with a MSI 390x from 2016 on wards. It can be connected to corsair link to monitor your power draw, voltages and change fan speed. Well worth the 148 i paid for it.
The digital features of this PSU are amazing. I’m someone who loves seeing stats and graphs so to be able to see it’s performace over time and even modify it’s settings (like fan curve or single/multi rail options) using Corsair’s iCue software is very appealing to me. It’s rated platinum for it’s efficiency and the integrated fan is usually idle unless under heavy load. I haven’t yet noticed any noise coming from the PSU, and it’s able to power multiple HDD’s as well as a full gaming PC with ease. I’m very pleased with it’s many modular ports as I primarily bought this device to safely power up to 18 HDD’s and I can’t imagine this would struggle with that!
This is a great power supply and has awesome damage preventing features. When I was building my computer I mistakenly misplaced my 8 to 4+4 cable used to attach to the motherboard for overclocking purposes. I ordered another 8 to 4+4 online but didn’t pay attention that the one I ordered wasn’t from corsair so the pinouts could be different. I used the cable and attached it to my motherboard and powered the PC on and everything shorted. I unplugged the cable and waited a few minutes until I tried to power on again and when I pressed the power it turned on like a charm. Glad I invested into this power supply.
While I was updating my PC with a new CPU, motherboard, water cooler and RAM, I decided to upgrade the power supply at the same time. The old supply was perfectly, but it wasn’t as efficient as it could be. That’s why I went for this one, it’s 80 Plus Platinum rated.
Does efficiency make any difference? Yes, to your wallet. They are more expensive to buy to start with but will save money in the long run. Electricity is not cheap nowadays and if you are an inefficient power supply, then you are pouring money down the drain and also possibly harming the environment more than you need to.
This is the first time that I’ve bought a modular power supply. Supplies with fixed leads can either have too many leads for your application or not have enough. It’s a fine balance. Having a mass of unused leads can be a headache to hide away and not having enough means adding adapters and everything becoming a mess.
This supply come with a bag full of leads and I mean a full bag! There is a range of motherboard leads, leads with SATA power plugs, and leads with the older Molex plugs. You only need to plug in the ones you need into the power supply, making tidy installations more possible.
What can be a little unnerving is that the built-in cooling fan only starts up when needed. As I type, I can see that the power supply temperature is currently 35C, and the fan is off. The system is drawing around 60-70W at the moment. How do I know this? Well, that’s the great feature of this power supply, it has a USB port on it that can supply all this information and more. You just need a spare USB2 header plug on your motherboard. You can download software from Corsair to read this information but I use AIDA64 software which is also compatible.
Overall, this power supply is not cheap, but it is of the highest quality and will save you money in the long run.
if your looking for a quality psu for you build this unit will delivers on aspects of good quality build and reliability, i’m currently using the psu with asus encore and it works with flawless, with all that in mind my only disappointment with it is that the psu link (usb) cable is not compatible with the plugs on the motherboard contacting customer support was a definite waist of time as they ware throwing the ball from one assistant to a another asking me the same question over and over.
This has not had any issues!
Unfortunately, the Seastar Platinum PSU, this has replaced (returned) had an issue on one module and that then seemed to spread to the entire thing.
This one has protection switch so I can set it to lower ampage protection on each module, which is awesome! Not that is has shown any sign of issue at all!
The Original, that the Seastar replaced, was an original HX850 (lasted ~10yrs). I guess fate decided it should be replaced by its ancestor!
A very good power supply for PC but it is a little bigger than usual power supply which resulted in problems with installation, provided cables are stiff and difficult to connect all the devices inside.
All in all it is a good power supply especially that you can monitor fans and power consumption by the computer.
It is a bit pricey but well worth it if you want to expand your system in the future and don’t have problems with shortage of cables and power.
Bought it to replace my old TX750 which was getting old and noisy like my neighbour Steve. Threw this bad boy into my case and was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to manage cables when you are given the option of not adding unnecessary cables into your build.
Now when I slam my power switch, rather than hearing an aircraft getting ready for lift off I just hear my water loop start up.
Might throw a fish in there and see how it goes.
Great power supply, I bought it to replace a Corsair RM850 as warranty had ran out and I like to play it safe.
10 years warranty which is great!
Bought it for a single GPU build as its most efficent at around 40% to 60% I7 5820k and 2080 sits around 600w when gaming so this is perfect for me.
ICue software shows wattage in and out which is amazing to see how much it uses on idle etc and allows me to control the fan however it doesn’t spin unless I’m gaming which allows for even less noise however can’t even hear it when it is spinning!
You get what you pay for in Power Supply Units. This is up there with the best PSU’s I’ve ever used. Build quality is fantastic, packaged beautifully, more than enough spare cables which come with a free bag to store them in, the unit itself even comes in a drawstring back with Corsair branding on!
The unit itself is virtually silent, haven’t heard it once yet and the fact that I can view it in the Corsair iCue software is brilliant. This gives me information on current load, power draw etc.
eeded to replace an old corsair hx850 supply and decide to buy this as I wanted to have extra headroom for more powerful parts and the fact it has a digital power monitor . it comes in its own bag and is very well packaged with a large selection of power leads , I have a coolermaster c700p case which is large and the extra long power leads with psu made for an easier cleaner build . the digital monitor is used with corsairs software and is great for monitoring power usage , I was pleased to see that power used whilst gaming was much lower than I thought and a lot of the time was at 100% efficiency . this is fantastic psu very highly recommended
firstly, high quality as you’d expect from a high end product. the fan hardly ever spins under load and when it does, you cannot hear it.
however, the cables are a lot shorter than i expected. i have a corsair 550d, regular atx tower with a regular motherboard. however, as most high end cases tend to mount the power supply at the bottom now and encourage cables to wrap around the back of the case to reach the motherboard, its one hell of a stretch to reach the various holes and when you do, the cables are very thick and have a sort of coating on the ends which really makes them limited in terms of flexibility and i was worried i was going to pull the ends off!
i dont think you will have this problem if you are mounting this power supply at the TOP of your case OR you DO NOT wrap your cables around the back of your case – but if you are buying something like this power supply, i suspect you probably will have both of these issues. it fits, just very tight – see pics.
loads of cables included, a little badge, excellent packing quality and also a little sturdy bag to keep all the cables you don’t use, a nice touch.
all in all, great product.
Quiet PSU, does the job but the supplied cables are not braided and are quite stiff making it difficult to work with in a small case. Another point is the cables are ‘flat’ which makes them very difficult to route along narrow ducts in the case (like on NZXT cases). Any visible cables like GFX will look ugly (if you have a window case). Most competition at or below this price point do supply braided cables it’s a big negative to be aware of if you have a window case.
That is my old HX850. The one I was somewhat shocked to find I had bought in December 2009. About 2-3 PC rebuilds back, and that I had never gotten around to replacing.
After nine years and three months of virtually daily service, it finally blew.
Went and bought another one. This one is fully modular (my last one was partially modular, guess they have to change the design slightly after nine years), similar in size, reassuring heft, with a bag full of attachments – more than I am ever likely to need. Removed old PSU, plugged in new one, PC booted up .. and I’m off again.
Guess I might need to buy another one in 2028. Although I notice that this one is guaranteed for 10 years – maybe I should hang on to the paperwork this time.
Nine years. Daily service. Yes, it was last decade’s model … but these things are SOLID.
I bought this to replace my old Seasonic PSU which was getting a bit too noisy and so far it is doing a fantastic job. My primary reason for buying the 1000W version was to keep my system load at around (or below) 50%. This ensures the best efficiency and also the fan doesn’t spin.
You can hook it up to an internal USB port and view details on Corsair Link or iCue, which is a very nice feature. The only I don’t like is that the test fan option is only available via the physical switch on the PSU and not from the software.
The cables are very long and flat, which helps with management in tight cases. So far I can’t hear any coil whine or any other noises coming from the PSU.
I’ve included a video of the system powering up with this PSU, just as an example of the noise levels.
This power supply arrived today and I fitted it a few hours after I got it. It took about 30 minutes to fit. I used it to replace a 650w semi modular psu. This new unit is more powerful in preparation for a new graphics card and also to provide smoother power delivery for the whole system.
Good:
Very quiet, silent even as there’s no fan movement at anything that I’ve used it for yet.
As mentioned, smoother power delivery and sufficient supply for the system; water cooled CPU, 5 fans in total, 4 drives (NVME M2, SSD, 2 * hdd’s), external sound card, etc..
Sufficient power for a new RTX 2080 ti or something similar (currently GTX 980ti).
Not so good:
Has ‘high quality’ cables which have capacitors built in (type 4) which were replacing the older cables (type 3). These new cables are very hard to bend in places as the capacitors make them stiffer. The capacitors are a good thing except that it’s difficult to get the cables to fit just how you want them to. The 8 pin power cable to the motherboard was particularly difficult to fit. In the end I unplugged it from the psu and fitted it to the motherboard then threaded it back to the psu.
If I was buying another I might go for the HX850i or similar so that I could use the Corsair link software for monitoring and tweaking though I understand the HX850i comes with the older type 3 cables so might want to upgrade these. The prices of both HX850 and HX850i are similar (about 10 more for the HX850i).
Very happy, easy enough to fit, silent running and would buy this or similar again.
Expensive but fabulous component in a high end PC system.
I bough this myself for my own use. No affiliation to anyone !
There are lot of cheaper PSU’s out there but this one is effectively silent when pushing out 400W of power (no Fan, no Coil whine etc heard outside the case) and the Corsair Monitoring software provides a great view/record of total power consumption and where it is all going.
While it will clearly deliver 1000W it is the ‘silent running up to 400W’ is the key feature for me.
My system can be ‘pushed’ to draw far more than 400W under very heavy load but in everyday use this is one less fan running in a system that is designed to ‘sit quietly’ in normal use. Above 400W every other fan in the case is already up and running so the HX1000i can be forgiven for joining in at that point.
Usual superb Corsair packaging, build quality and accessories.
The power supply unit makes a good impression out of the box: it is heavy, solid looking piece of metal, with no flimsy switches, and the build quality feels top-notch. The modular cables are stored in the separate, fabric bag, further improving our impression of a high-class item. The installation is as easy as it can be: most important cables are labeled (CPU, PCIE, Motherboard, SATA), but some are left out from labeling, which can be confusing for a first-time builder (looking at you, Molex cable).
Once installed, it’s only flick of a switch away from the PC running. The LINK software is not necessary for the PSU to work, but since the unit’s price reflects the inclusion of it, there is no reason not to download it and use it: it is easy to use and transparent, giving you access to temperatures and fan speeds. Speaking of fan speed, the single fan on the PSU will not spin unless under medium-heavy load, which means that just watching Netflix or browsing the Internet will be a very quiet experience.
All in all, very good product that is worth its price.
Great PSU, very solid and well built, comes in excellent packaging too.
The fan in mine does have a bit of a click at very low rpm but since the fan pretty much never spins up thanks to the passive cooling of the unit, it’s a non issue.
Only other criticism is the flat plastic cables that come with the unit. Since a PSU of this nature is most likely going to be used in a high end build, visuals are important. It’d be nice of Corsair to have included their braided/sleeved cables by default. As it stands, if you want their nicely sleeved and coloured cables you will have to fork out an additional 100 (~20 for the 24 pin and ~80 for the rest of the cable set from Corsair website).
Slightly larger than most power supplies but given what it does… not really surprising.
Comes with all the cables you’d need… there’s 2x 8pin CPU power cables, 2x 4 molex, 2x 4 straight sata, 2x 4 right angled sata, 4x 2x 6+2 PCIE, your usual motherboard 24 pin and just because some poor unfortunate soul out there might still needs to power one… a molex to floppy drive power adapter 😀
Spare cables can be kept in the branded bag they come in. Comes with around 6 single use cable ties but given each of the modular cables come wrapped up in ‘reusable’ wire cable ties you’ve got enough cable ties for almost any job.
Finally, the icing on the cake… the power supply comes in its own draw string bag. That was… unexpected… 😀
An excellent power supply unit! I love the quet fan mode. Note: you must use 2 separate PCI-E power cables for AMD RX Vega 64 as this doesn’t give enough power for a single cord/rail to support that card. It would be nice if they supplied a couple of PCI-E power cables that didn’t have a “pig tail”, just for the looks and because this is modular and expensive PSU. Almost a superb product, just that small let down.
This Power Supply was purchased to replace a new Seasonic Snow Silent 1050W which caused cold boot issues with an Asus X99-Deluxe (V1) Motherboard clear some sort of compatibility issue as others (I have since learned) has also suffered this problem.
Pleasingly, from installing the Corsair HX1000i Corsair CP-9020074-UK HX1000i 1000 W 80 Plus Platinum Certified 140 mm Fan Thermally Controlled Power Supply Unit – Black has functioned flawlessly and the cold boot failure experienced with the Seasonic unit is fully resolved.
The cable set provided by Corsair is more than adequate for the task with ample choice of connections (all of suitable length) including the ‘Corsair Link’ which establishes a connection to monitor the PSU within the Windows Operating System environment as well as to control system cooling fans.
Overall a reliable and well constructed unit with ample Power reserves for most high end custom builds.
I bought this in an Amazon sale for a steal. This is absolutely a premium PSU – Fully modular with all the connections you’ll ever need including a micro usb connection so you can monitor power in/out using the Corsair software. Fan RPM is always 0 for me since I never go above the ~330W threshold even with an i7-6700, RX480 8GB, in fact I rarely go above 180W even while gaming. 80+ platinum so it’s very efficient and will become more efficient with greater load, up to 50% load. The product includes all the cables you need in a bag. A tier one PSU with highest quality capacitors. Also a 10 year warranty means you don’t have to worry about it breaking. Finally you get a rather snazzy powered by Corsair sticker if you feel like putting it on the case.
Coming from a CX series supply (which had unbearable coil whine), I thought it would be better to move up to the HXi series after doing some reading. Apparently they were decent, low whine supplies without breaking the bank on an AXi series.
I’ve actually had this PSU since December 2015 in my main rig so ample time to see how its going. Well, its brilliant. Best PSU – I even have one in the home server. Hardly any coil whine (but this may vary – if you do have excessive noise, give Corsair a shout!) and very smooth power. Corsair Link is really useful to see what the PC is pulling from the wall, power demand and efficiency ratings. I’d only recommend this PSU if you’re building a huge huge rig or a server with many disks, HBA’s, dual CPU perhaps. I digress.
Onto the PSA: whilst this PSU is ‘fanless’ mode enabled, it probably isn’t a good idea. I run my PC in a ‘silent’ type case and the PSU acts like a space heater when in fanless mode. The thing gets hot and releases the heat within the case. Which, understandably, is bad.
If you can take a tiny bit of noise, the PSU runs cool and quiet even with the fan set to its minimum running speed (40%). I can hardly hear it under my desk and the insides of the PC is cool. Whilst I see the appeal of fanless silence, the PSU does run hot and thus heat up the case – resulting in warmer temps and the other fans running slightly louder.
The HXi’s are the best PSU’s. Fanless or not, they’re amazing. Corsair support is fantastic too (with UK RMA Service!). Run it fanless first to see the impact of fanless mode and if needed, the fan can be set in Corsair Link. Low/no coil whine too!
USUAL DISCLAIMER: PSU bought by me, for me. No review sample, no sponsored review. Some credit card magic happened and this arrived at my door.
I bought this on a Black Friday Deal for 120 – it’s an absolute bargain. It’s beefy, yet the modular design allows you to connect all devices without cluttering up your cable management space. And it comes with so many cables in a bag – it’s impossible to run out. The cables themselves are normal black plastic, and don’t share the premium feel of the PSU, but that can be rectified (at least for appearance sake) with after market braided cables.
The zero fan mode is wonderful for anyone looking to build a quite PC. On casual web browsing it does not spin up at all – something you can monitor through the Corsair Link SW.
Solid build.
Fits with fan down or up, as required.
Replaced another brand of 750W PSU which failed after several years of use. Coil whine, which I thought was from my GTX980 Graphics Card, disapeared when I fitted this PSU as well.
Beware, if replacing another modular cabled PSU, you MUST use the cables from this PSU’s kit and not use any that seem to fit from your old kit, as one of the cables is non-standard between manufacturers! This is mentioned in the installation manual. The cable in question was fitted very tightly below my CPU’s heatsink with very little clearance, so I was going to be lazy and use the old PSU’s cable – luckily I checked as the cable’s wiring was different.
The installation manual is a bit unclear about the PSU monitoring software. You don’t need the special Corsiar link cable to access the PSU’s temperature and fan data. You only need the supplied internal USB cable to fit between your PSU and a standard internal USB motherboard header to be able to get PSU stats in the downloadable Corsair Link software (which also gives MB, HDD and GPU temps and fan speeds)
I purchased this power supply due to the fact my previous power supply died.
So in the search for a good power supply I look at many options ranging from EVGA to Seasonic, Gold rating and Platinum ratings.
I decided on the HX750i as it met all the requirements I wanted. It had to be silent and efficient.
So this model is platinum rating ATX with Corsair link feature.
It has a ZeroRPM mode that under low load due to being efficient with only spin the fan when absolutely needed. with it being
140mm has great flow at low speeds resulting in being very quiet even when the fans turned on.
Fan even has a switch to allow you to test its function before installation. A little warning the 140mm fan makes this power supply slightly larger than the average like the AX760i which has a 120mm.
Even better the HX750i is a fully modular meaning you only need to fit the cables you need leaving the rest in the bag provided until needed in the future. This also help with managing cables making for better airflow and just a cleaner looking build.
The cables provided are of great quality and are completely black with none of that mustard coloured cable showing. Making the builds very clean looking and making this power supply fit with any colour schemes you have chosen. If that provided cables ain’t good enough Corsair sell Separate kits for colour of your choice to fit your pc.
Corsair also offer 7year warranty on this version for piece of mind.
Overall I highly recommend this power supply.
Firstly – full marks to KikaTech for superb packaging and prompt, well-before-time delivery; a lot of suppliers could do well by following their example.
There’s really no need for an in-depth review of the power supply – everyone who knows their computing will be familiar with Corsair’s high build quality and excellent performance in their products.
I’m running a Sabertooth X99 with a 5960 and 32Gig of RAM; the previous 1000W power supply – from a reputable manufacturer – was being frequently reported by the motherboard as having surged.
This Corsair unit has completely cured the problem, with the bonus of lower power draw overall from the mains, thanks to its Platinum rating.
Unlike other reviewers, I found the cables, whilst stiiffer than others, gave no problems; in fact, I found their little extra stiffness an advantage when forming complex bends, as, once bent, they remained conformed to the profile, meaning I didn’t have the ‘I-need-three-hands-here’ problem.
Summing up – a superb power supply from a conscientious vendor. Both are unreservedly recommended.
So for my recent PC build, I initially picked up and installed Corsair’s Builder Series CXM 750W PSU to power the whole system. It’s a neat semi-modular PSU that’s sufficient for my needs. However soon after installation and benchmarking I was hearing coil wine from my system. I thought it was my graphics card at first, but then after further investigation realised that in fact the power supply was emitting a loud wine when the graphics card was under load. This, and an over loud fan, prompted me to return the CXM 750W power supply after a few days.
I decided to stick with Corsair and go for their Pro Platinum Series, HX750i 750W power supply. And I’m very happy with it.
It came well presented with the power supply packed in a velvet bag and well protected in it’s snug fitted foam packaging. You also get a nice back for all the cables this is handy for storing the cables that you don’t use. And you get plenty of tie straps, screws, a cable grip, and the instructions.
Installation is simple, it’s an ATX PSU. But I will say that plugging in some of those cables is tough; so it might be better to plug in the cables you need before securing the power supply in your machine.
I’m not going to go into detail about wattage and amps, it’s not necessary. This will easily power my set up and will easily run a second 980 G1 Gaming in the future and it’s most efficient between a 40-50% load @ 93%. And being as it’s a Corsairs HXi series PSU, you get Japanese capacitors rated for 105’C, zero RPM fan mode technology, and Corsair’s Link Digital support where you can monitor its performance and control fan speed in the desktop. The software will actually give statistical information from other sensors in your system, including case fan speeds and CPU & GPU temperatures.
You get all the usual connectors here with the Link Digital link added. This connects to a spare USB header on your motherboard. And for those that are a little paranoid there is a button to test the fan is functional, although Corsair do clearly state the zero RPM fan speed technology.
The software is useful giving you 5 tabs that show you information in different ways. I feel it could be made much simpler though. The tab that I like is the Power tab. This shows you how efficient the power supply is, gives you voltage & amp readings for the three major rails, fan speed, and temperature. The information here will surprise a lot of people that think they need more watts than necessary.
If you need a robust, reliable, and modular PSU that you can rely on, then the HXi series supplies from Corsair are hard to beat. It’s efficient, quality components ensure long life and server grade reliability, silent, and comes with some neat software that will keep the nerds happy.

Well really wanted the AX860i but couldn’t justify the 50 price difference when this little beauts just as good!
HX850i… lovely…
can’t really say anything more, if people are looking at this particular model im assuming they know what they want as this is a high end PSU.
if you want plenty of power, good performance, and be future proofed for future add ins to your Rig, ala x2 SLI or cross fire, then this will do the job, it ‘s the i version so it has the digital link for Corsairs link software.
the cables that come with it are very well made, black and fit nicely, however i have kept them as spare and brought the corsair CP-892008 cables (NO ATX POWER INC) got these from SCAN Uk for like 17, other people will try and sell them to you for 50 as some peeps think they are the better series 3 cables that corsair sell at 79.99
anyways use PC PARTS PICKER UK, shows all the websites with their prices,
AMAZON is wikid for prices, every other private seller i seen on here though is a rip off, use parts picker, find the cheapest vendors
