I played already in the previous version and this version is the perfect excuse to play to a great classic improved on the next console generation, scary and fun to play
This is a top tier remake one of the best definitely up there with resident evil 2 remake I hope dead space 2 gets a remake too I really enjoyed this game fantastic atmosphere and visuals.
Thoroughly enjoyed this game. Having played the original on the 360 some years ago to about the half way point the remake was a great excuse to finish the game. Story was great, the game got a little repetitive near the end (locked rooms until enemies defeated) and the final chapter was disappointing but solid experience all around.
Obviously the idea isn’t fresh anymore but mechanically this is an obvious improvement over the already classic original. I don’t find the game scary, but there is a good deal of tension, and the open structure of the ship means you can now revisit areas for side-missions too.
I only played the original for about 2hrs as I was quite scared being so youngbut WOW! This remake is terrifying but being older now, I smashed through the game in a few days and I loved every single second of it! A MUST HAVE for your PS5
The nostalgia is real, a superb remake, and fantastic game in general. Like the original, not for the faint of heart. Whether you’re old enough to remember the original when it came out or not, you’ll love it. I recommend treating yourself to a set of surround sound headphones to really get the most out of the experience.
Often many horror/adventure games aren’t actually that scary, and while I wouldn’t say that I’m scared by the creatures, Dead Space does instill dread in the player with incredible sound design that stops you from ever getting comfortable. The sound design is not to the same level as Silent Hill (and not sure if any games to this date have matched that if you know, you know).
The combat is fun and the difficulty scaling as you play is fair, even on easy mode you’ll still find yourself fighting to conserve ammo for your favourite weapons and health. I like this as I can get bored in games that give too much to the player (looking at you, RE4). The creative team did a great job of making the player retrace their steps and revisit areas, and they’ve been very faithful to the original game with some added twists here and there.
One area where I think it’s lacking is its replay-ability. When I finished the game I immediately went to replay it as I wanted to unlock more rewards but found myself getting a little bored. Maybe this was my fault for jumping straight back into it / playing it with fully upgraded weapons, but I’ll give it the benefit of doubt and pick it up again in 6 months or so. I wouldn’t let that put you off from playing the game, though.
It’s a remake of an iconic title, built from the ground up with truly stunning yet disturbing visuals. The gameplay blends brutal, heart racing encounters with intelligent, thoughtful puzzles and exploration. The audio submerges you in the claustrophobic, dank, and sometimes tragic innards of the Ishimura, with a hair raising soundtrack and a soundscape unlike any other horror game. It culminates to build an atmosphere where not a moment goes by where you’ll feel safe.
It’s worth mentioning that it’s use of limited resources and satisfying upgrades and weapons, mixed with the constant threat of the truly haunting and oppressive necromorphs, makes for one of the most brutal and terrifying games on PS5/XBox Series/PC.
You really won’t find many horror games that match Dead Space.
There were issues with graphics on launch in darker areas but patches have come out to fix, the game looks incredible in performance mode and runs smoothly and stable. Turning performance mode off does somehow make it look even better, but the frame rate does become choppy so wouldn’t recommend playing like that.
The changes they’ve made have improved the game rather than detract from it.
I normally avoid buying games when they first come out due to the majority of them having major issues and failing to live to the hype, but I’d recommend buying this game as soon as you can.
Edit – well I have now finished the game and have gone straight back in for another round to find extra suits, guns and some secret stuff. I haven’t enjoyed a game like this since Resident Evil 2 in 97 – about the highest compliment to a game that I can give.
