Not a bad fridge / freezer, very quiet for a portable unit, needs to be plugged into a 12v supply when travelling. The only down side I’ve found is that as soon as you cut the power the the temperature rises rapidly. In two hours it went from -18 to – 4. As soon as powered against it quickly goes back to -18.
I use it for both camping or just keeping beer cold at home. I had some reservations about the noise of the compressor as I have it on a solid floor in a small utility room at home however I’ve found that it’s the unit itself carrying the vibrations and that’s me being picky as it’s still quieter than my chest freezer. It is near silent when on carpet or in a tent onto grass and never disturbed light sleepers.
It cools really quickly, filled with cans of beer from the supermarket they are ready to be drunk in an hour. That’s without adjusting the temperature setting on the front. I run mine at 6 degrees, a compressor cycle will take it down to 2 degrees and will not run again until it goes back to 6-7 degrees internally. So I guess there would be a risk of freezing the contents of you want a lower setting for refrigeration. I’ve not tried it as a freezer as I purchased this purely for longer camping trips and being able to keep milk, beer and food cold and fresh.
There is a single cut out internally to stand a 2ltr bottle of pop, they don’t fit anywhere other than this one place. We like Aldi’s own lemonade which is a taller bottle to big brands so sadly doesn’t quite fit without leaning it over and/or removing the wire cage or partition. Obviously leaning it over takes up more room therefore less beer so best to go for standard Coke or Sprite 2ltr sized bottles as these fit perfectly. No issues with 4 or 6 pint bottles of milk.
Even when full it’s not difficult to lift with the handles feeling really sturdy. Worked great in my van on 12v and didn’t drain the battery for the hour to set up camp while reaching in for cold refreshments.
