I bought this in the Amazon sale and saved about 30. Not much more to say really other than the price of accessories is disproportionate. I find the knock-off equivalents to be of equally good quality or better. I think with Dremel you are paying for the name but the tool itself is excellent.
Very useful, being using it to on my model engineer and general household stuff
An awesome tool for any DIYer or hobbiest well with having for lots of small jobs around the house. Should’ve got one a long time ago.
Purchased this to cut a kitchen tap hose off, that the box spanner wouldn’t fit around. Managed to achieve this using the 420 cut-off wheels (there’s 20). One broke, but I was being a bit heavy handed.
2 of the other accessories were missing from the pack – Amazon resolved this with me, so check you have everything.
The case is impressive, although the accessories are a bit thrown together into a small box.
I’m sure I’ll find plenty of other uses for it, so happy with the purchase.
Worth the money gotta be the best dremel out there the only thing I would say is an extra battery is handy
This item is great for all my needs would highly recommend to anyone
It’s the best tool for a wide range of jobs
i originally ordered the dremel 8220 with 5 attachments/65 accessories at the price of 171.11. The next day it was reduced to 124.99 BLACK FRIDAY DEAL, as so i cancelled the original order & re-ordered another. with what i had saved i treated myself to the dremel 724 EX SpeedClic 150 accessory pack of which was also reduced by 47%
There’s a few little job’s need doing with this around the house, i used it today for the 1st time, the neighbour has put long, very pointed screw’s through the fence panel, pointed end my side.
They were easily cut off.
Looking forward to using it more.
The tool kit was delivered ahead of the estimated time. In fact, delivery was so quick, Amazon was still notifying it would be delivered, the day after it had arrived.
The tool itself is versatile and easy to use and so far appears to be perfect for small jobs across a range of materials. It’s also handy that it comes in its own tool box that holds the main DREMEL tool plus all the components, and which saves having to buy yet another storage box.
I really like this it’s so easy to use you can change bits so easily and it’s electric battery powered carry it has 2 batteries and has a really nice professional case I have always liked dremel products
Extremely versatile tool used it loads battery life is good only brought of to cut off bolts in hard to reach areas had it for a few months now can’t fault it. I’ve used it for loads of different things so far. Very happy
This is a nice product but still overly expensive for what it is. The illuminated Dremel name is unnecessary . Although the product seems robust enough I worry that the electronic will fail way before the actual device itself and end up being just obsolete before it’s time
This is a very comprehensive kit and the dremel itself is very robust. Be aware though that it is quite heavy, certainly too bulky for my wife to trim the dogs claws with. Replaced it with a dremel lite.
Amazon as always sorted the replacement with no problem.
Love this tool. I have plenty of tools but none as versatile as a dremel. Particularly a cordless one. Can cut loads of material types, engrave, polish, sand, saw and many other things. This kit came with a lot of blades and accessories. Great starter kit.
Been toying with the idea of getting one of these for a while. Pleased I took the plunge. Very handy and already well used after a few weeks. This has cut through small fastenings that have siezed on my 20 year old porsche making nightmare jobs a doddle. Surprisingly powerful with good battery life. Love it!
It’s a good device but the instructions are none existent. Sure you can find various videos online, but Dremel should make their own video for this specific device and the accessories it comes with. The video should go through each accessory and show how to attach and use those accessories on various materials. Dremel could also have a bonus video showing how to attach and use other accessories which are available to buy. The huge single sheet that comes with the device helps but it isn’t enough. Seems like a lazy option by the company.
First product I received had a faulty battery. No amount of charging could bring it to life. Returned and Amazon sent replacement. Newly received product works perfectly.
Instructions could be better. Some better quick-start brochures or booklets would be helpful. The standard manual is just not great.
I did intend buying the Dremel 8200 with 65 accessories, but when placing my order it was out of stock so, rather than wait, went for 8200 with 45 accessories. My mistake, only one battery instead of two and case not worth the plastic its made of. I am surprised with Dremel; its a quality tool yet packaged with no thought at all to the user. I don’t mind it being a cheap plastic case, but I would expect the components to fit snuggly. the only thing that fits is the hand tool; it looks like a case made for another items and bundled together at the last minute. I looked up the Dremel website to see if I could purchase the other case (looks somewhat more substantial), but alas no, not for sale. Dremel obviously do not need the money when their are impatient fools like me around. Docked a star for this reason only.
I’ve wanted a Dremel for a very long time and finally got one and I love it. A bit confusing about uses of chucks at first but once that was over there was no problem and I have used it successfully for many jobs already, with many more in the pipeline. The only thing that bugs me is that battery life isn’t great. I’d like to see a battery cage that allows mains operation?
I’ll write a more detailed review after using it.
in the product details it says “1 battery” – in the Q and A some non-amazon / dremel people have said 2
The 8220 I just ordered and received has 1 battery – as per Amazon’s description – so can’t complain – but I feel Amazon should remove or comment on the misleading Q&A
I have had several multi tools my first 30 years ago corded that still works but worn . Two more recent cheaper versions than the dremel , both cut out often and once they do they cut out again within seconds . The dremel doesn’t and with the 12v batteries last long enough for most jobs or more . So many attachments can be added as you need them . It’s all quality I would buy agai
if you’ve had one you know how good these are, I’ve been boring a friends for years so couldn’t keep taking the piss so bought one.. I’ve just cut the bolts off a CV joint on a classic car which were seized, cut through them with easy and the small size made it easy
Its good but i should have gone for the electric instead of battery…bought 3 batteries so could have one charging whilst using other two…I still run the 3 batteries down before wanting to finish -but im not going to be buying any more batteries!!…will be cool for camping / taking with on adventure…depends what you want to use it for?! ..the tool loses power gradually then stops rather than stops when cant go the speed you stuck it on -i dont realise its slowed down until its stopped (and wondered why it wasnt working as well?)..you put new battery in and its like a new machine! (Bit like changing from used sandpaper to new sandpaper?)…I still like the tool- ill probably end up buying a mains one too!…just thought id suggest you take an extra second to decide if you want battery powered or mains thats all.
bought something that didn’t fit. So it sat under the stairs taking up space. Bought clamps and brackets to make it fit but they didn’t fit either. So I bought a Dremel a name used for that kind of tool. All the stuff now fits snug. Yep a chunk of money but read too many reviews of something that didn’t fit so they sent it back. Uses elongated filofax holes brackets polishing key cutting. needs a spare battery and I got some tungsten carbide bits that are beefy. oh yeah great for indoor fireworks.
Purchased to remove burnt on detritus on my oven shelves. Tried the polishing brushes with zero effect. Purchased some wire brushes which have not used yet. I’ll report back when the oven is due for a clean in a couple of weeks time! Did use one of the little cutter discs to do a bit of tree pruning on a tricky to reach branch I could not access with a traditional saw or pruning shears!
Very pleased so far with the 8220, seems powerful enough for standard use. For extended jobs I’d probably stick with a 3000. Going from 300/3000, I find the separate on-off switch from speed selection is very nice too.
I went for the 45 piece kit partly because of a deal, partly because it included the LED light, and I couldn’t source this on its own anywhere. Aaaaand… its utter crap. A really bad design, reminds me of how things used to be designed in the pre-internet days before reviews encouraged ‘ease of use’ improvements.
This LED light is bad, and the main reason for my review. It’s held together by a single screw held in by a washer. If this screw is tight, the on-off switch is often too stiff to move. If the screw isn’t too tight the light sometimes goes off when the dremel is in use, or if the end cap is tight. The on-off switch is activated by a tatty blue plastic slider that latches roughly onto a toggle switch, and is quite hard to line up when reassembling. When unscrewing the cover (required to replace batteries) the screw pushes the main light away from the cover, leaving the screw extended in the cover. It should be unwound (as picture) to stand any chance of lining the slider up with the switch and switch hole.
The battery compartment is just the gap between the board and a contact, and I think it is this which lets one battery move when the screw is too tight and makes the light fail. There is nothing to hold the batteries in place except the cover that seems to flex sometimes. The whole design is just tenth rate.
The other tools are well known to me and mostly work very well, loses a star for the horrendous light.
It is a really well made piece of kit:very impressed. I was amazed just how powerful it is and I would recommend that you practice before you begin serious work with it. The sanding cylinders are just amazing. Be warned if you haven’t had a practice and turn up the revs you will incur damage! The grinding/sharpening kit, which I purchased as an extra, is fabulous. I have allows found grinding wood chisels on a wheel tricky to say the least but the Dremel makes it so easy. Have a look on you tube for some handy tips. I am still exploring its use but I can say that it is one of the best power tools that I have purchased. I am a DIYer not a professional by the way.
First of all, the cordless tools are somewhat gutless compared to the wired tools. That’s why they don’t state a power rating.
I first borrowed a 3.7v tool and that was useless for most of the tasks I had.
I had high hopes for the 8v type, which I also borrowed, but that still couldn’t get all the jobs done.
Then came Prime day and I got this kit for a very reasonable 87.49.
It doesn’t have the power of the corded Dremel 4000, which I already own. I’m guessing that the power of the 8220 is about 100W (the 4000 is 175W), but if I’m up a ladder, I don’t want an extension lead, so I’d rather be cordless than have the extra power. There wasn’t a task that I had saved up that I couldn’t complete, including grinding out a hard knot in resin laden wood stair tread.
The carry case is the most important ‘accessory’, although I’m sure I can use the side grip and shaping platform. There was a good range of tools in the set including a speedclic mandrel and 5 wheels.
I recommend you buy the Dremel 4486 Keyless Chuck (ASIN: B0002SMMY2), so you don’t need to faff about with the ‘horrid little spanner’. The EZ twist nose is just not as easy.
The best thing about buying a Dremel, is that you know the Dremel accessories and tools will fit. The chuck mentioned above doesn’t fit any of the tools I borrowed.
i don’t know why i didn’t buy one of these years ago, i have always had corded dremels but this is way easier, i just got the basic set as i have a million accessories already. using it with the right angled head today and did a great job. just take that light thing off the front, its pretty useless and gets in the way, putting the batteries in the light was not straightforward and i could see many folk lose the head! not well designed and a bit of a gimmick. the only thing i thought could be improved is the speed slider, it feels very loose with almost no resistance, i thought i had a dodgy one but no that is the way they are. i tried the handle accessory and it did hold it but there was a bit of flexing, could do with a few more threads gripping it on. overall i would buy another and recommend it.
