I read a lot a rewiews and they’re all over the place. But the bottom line is, this blows my Logic tech stream cam away. It’s a better cam letting a lot more light in than others making chroma key so much better. Elgato is a great brand

There’s currently no ability to have auto exposure without auto ISO, and the driver seems to prefer high ISO in normal ( UK ) light conditions, making the image a little noisy.

Hopefully this is something Elgato can sort in software, with an ability to fix the ISO with automatic exposure.

I got this camera as the reviews were strong for this cam and I have to admit it didn’t disappoint. I use it for streaming on Twitch and for a USB camera it gives outstanding quality plus it comes with the software to really tailor it to whatever you want to use it for.

The Elgato Facecam is a high-quality webcam that provides a smooth and clear video output with a resolution of 1080p at 60 FPS. The video quality is impressive and delivers a great visual experience. Additionally, the webcam comes with free software that allows you to adjust the composition of your shot, making it easier to create the perfect image.

If you have an NVIDIA RTX series 20 or above, you can also download free software that enables you to control the background blur or use the built-in green screen feature, which is perfect for streaming. This feature enhances the quality of your streaming videos, making them more professional-looking.

The webcam’s USB 3.0 cable is two meters long, which gives you ample distance to set up your webcam. Furthermore, the light indicator on the webcam lets you know if it’s currently active or not, which is a helpful feature.

The webcam comes with a privacy cover that can be easily popped on and off, allowing you to protect your privacy when not in use. Overall, the Elgato Facecam is an excellent purchase and highly recommended. It’s definitely worth the money and is a product that you won’t need to upgrade for a long time.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI do a lot of Zoom seminars and this camera has significantly improved my setup and quality of broadcast. I’m still as ugly as sin, but that’s not the fault of the camera. I bought this to replace a homemade Raspberry Pi-based webcam that worked but, at high resolutions, dropped frames. This Facecam doesn’t and it works well pretty much “out of the box”.

You will need a USB 3 port. I found that not all of my USB 3 hubs worked. You will also need a good quality USB 3 cable and I ended up using the one provided with the camera despite it being unnecessarily long for my setup. The provided cable also has quite a bit of ‘memory’ and is a little awkward to tidy up out of the way.

The camera itself is very lightweight and feels a bit plasticky for 130, but what matters is the image quality and that is excellent. It’s worth using the software to manually tweak the settings – drop the ISO and improve your lighting if necessary – and you will get an excellent, stable, smooth image.

I didn’t use the provided clamp that fixes (or at least holds) the camera on the upper rim of your screen, but instead clamped it with a SmallRig arm. This allows me to achieve better eye contact with the audience AND read notes if needed on my screen.

What would I change? The lens cap is a bit fiddly and the design of this part could certainly be improved. I will – when I find time – source a shorter and more flexible USB C cable. Other than that I can’t fault the camera or the software. Unlike the Logitech software the Elgato software ‘Camera Hub’ works very well on Mac computers.

At 130 this is not inexpensive, but it is probably the best image quality you will get unless you use a dedicated DSLR and CamLink.

Don’t be put off by the absence of a microphone … this is a serious webcam for streaming or videoconferencing and if you’re doing a lot of those you will have (or should have) a separate microphone.

Recommended … this is a purchase you won’t regret.

Excellent webcam, good software for a Mac

The only reason I don’t have the pro is cause its not in stock. So I decided to go for this for now.

If ur looking for a decent webcam this webcam is pretty good but thats mostly because of the software that comes with it. Allowing u to use greenscreens or blurring ur background or editing lights/colour etc… but if u want a webcam that looks like a cinematic camera and u would never need to replace get the pro.

You do need to make sure your lighting is consistent and perfect every time when using this otherwise you are washed out. I’m having to play with settings every time i want to use this for streaming

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is the best webcam I’ve ever owned, and I’ve had a few of the mainstays like Logitechs, Creatives, etc. The picture quality is sharp, colours are vibrant, and framerate is super smooth. Its the most expensive one I’ve tried, but nothing else I’ve tried yet comes close. I like the fact that its excellent at what it does, and doesn’t try to do anything else like add a sub-par mic that you’ll never use.

It could however do with some quality of life adjustments. The privacy cover is a loose one that you have to clip on, and the clipping mechanism…well, it sucks. Its not convenient and you’re going to lose it at some point. You can buy a 3D-printed cover online that mounts around the edge and is just a lift up/drop down flap which is a must-buy IMO. Some kind of built-in privacy cover would have been nice.

Also the price – no getting around it, its high. But if I had to pick an alternative that matches this quality, I couldn’t suggest anything.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe software is pretty broken. For me, I can’t save my settings so every time I unplug the camera/quit the app/shut down/start up my pc, It resets everything. I looked online and was told to get the most up-to-date version but still, that does nothing. 150 Feels more like an 85-100 camera but it’s Elgato so you would think the software would make up for it and be nice like the stream deck software but it is barebones/save does not work.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this as it is supposed to handle low light better than others. It does.
Other than that, it’s nothing special.
1080p is a bit meh. these days.
The refresh rate is good enough and the supplied software allows the adjustment of lots of settings including flicker rate, aperture etc.
No zoom (has some digital) and because it’s a bit wide on the angle and only 1080p, zooming loses too much detail for my liking.

Originally I sat it atop my monitor and it was very stable, then I moved it to a fixed stand and this is better.

No microphone! Sure others don’t have good microphones but no microphone is worse. Should always be an option. I wouldn’t have used it anyway as I have a RODE, but others may care.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe elgato facecam is a great little (or not so little) camera. The quality and wide angle view will be the first thing anyone notices, the image is brilliant and in the right light actually surprisingly good! As a streamer it’s a huge step up from a Logitech c920 and I wasn’t expecting quite the difference.

I guess to compensate for the added quality that’s where the size comes from! It’s quite a little unit but also has a great fastening to sit on top of monitors and I actually thinks it’s a great looking camera.

It might be pricier for the average person, but for someone who streams or has a bunch of work calls and will get the use out of it, short of getting an actual DSLR to use, this thing is brilliant!

Honestly out of the box settings are pretty much near to perfect, with a few tweaks it will be incredibly clear! This is the best NON-DSLR camera you will ever get for streaming/video production or conferences.

Price could do with being 15-40 less though 100% recommend getting it on sale

Works great, easy to install software and update firmware.
Note only works on usb3, others have had problems with camera not working,
The usb3 lead that comes with the camera is a bit iffy. I changed my lead to a 3mtr lead as their lead was to short to reach the PC.
Can not fault the image quality at1080p 60.
You can save the settings to the camera so that every time you use your camera no need to set up the settings again like other camera’s.

Software on this is great for a webcam… best i’ve had infact.
I stream on a regular basis and having a good quality webcam with software for fine runing is very important. So from someone that went through a few webcams to say this is the best to date. Is saying something.
Easy to use, recommend youtube vids for the fiber details and explanations on sliders

Daughter uses it to stream games and live drawing/art. Obviously isn’t as good as a Sony dlsr but the quality is great for a 1080p window in the corner of a screen during a screen capture of a game being played etc.

As a content creator in YouTube I’m always looking for a way to up my game when it comes to making content and the elgato facecam has done just that.

This camera is the closest you will get to dslr quality without having to spend hundreds of pounds on a camera setup.

It’s easy to set up and get going right out of the box, it offers fantastic picture quality and even manages to do well when you don’t have the best lighting (although if your making content I recommend picking up some lighting)

Very happy with this purchase and it’s well worth the money

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersYou might think paying this much money for a webcam is a waste of money, but if you work from home, stream or need high quality video conferencing, this is a very good option. There are ways to re-use existing digital cameras / mirrorless using a combination of tripods, additional dummy batteries, capture cards etc. however I didn’t want to go through the faff of buying all of these extra things for a result that is a lot bulkier and not as convenient.

1080p60 is the gold standard. 4K webcams are terrible as they often use super tiny, poor quality sensors and cheap lenses, but jack up the price because – 4K. Most apps only support up to 1080p60 so anything higher is downsampled anyway.

The Camera Hub software is great, there are lots of manual controls (ISO, WB, FOV, Exposure) to tweak the camera to your requirements and the camera supports every video conferencing app I use on macOS (FaceTime, Chime, Zoom, Teams, Slack etc.).

Camera Hub also runs on Macs with Apple Silicon (e.g. M1, M1 Pro) with no issues.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFixed focus. No flickering with light.
Settings. Elgato face cams own settings are amazing.
Food lighting will make this pop more.
    Poor lighting will effect quality.
For live streaming this is crisp and clear.
    Your audience counts.
Give them what they deserve and watch your stream grow.
    Great deals on Amazon.
Tip…Put it in your basket…they will offer deals because you saved it.
    Enjoy

No much else to say, don’t buy anything else but this if you’re after a webcam.
As a streamer, I’ve tried literally every other (well known brand/model) this is by far the one that has delivered on it’s promise of a TRUE 1080p 60, other brands/models claim to be 1080p60 but don’t tell you to achieve 1080p60, they’ve upscaled a 720p image which becomes blurred/unnatural.

Incredibly good value for morning, the ideology of having a 1080p60fps camera that’s uncompressed is just awesome for the price. Tried streaming with it already and viewers are already impressed. Definitely a recommendation for streamers or just anyone who needs to do video meetings.

This is best webcam you can get . Image is flawless smooth and quality is amazing . No lag direct image . It’s just plug and play no software to install . Works with obs discord and any other apps . I would record myself or post pics but I won’t due to privacy but my review is genuine.

Difficult to fault and the software is good too. The ability to save the settings to the camera and have them stick is a real wonder. Frame rates seem to be only USA standards 30/60 but works without issue in OBS at 25 so go figure. I have a dslr but this works so well I would rather avoid the faff and use the FaceCam. It’s very wide angle too.

    Pros:
    – nice picture quality, I look great on conference calls now

    Cons:
    – using it on Linux is tricky, have to run though OBS
    – somewhat large
    – need to groom my beard and hair before calls, otherwise it’s too obvious that I woke up 10 minutes before

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for zoom calls and stuff

Very expensive for a webcam, but the quality easily justifies the price. Works flawlessly on Mac OS – the supplied software is great and easy to use and above all the camera quality is second to none for a webcam

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAt last! After trying many different webcams over the last 2 years to use on my Intel 27″ iMac, I’ve finally found what I’ve been looking for. I was giving up hope because my previous purchases tended to follow the same pattern – impressed with a review on YouTube then disappointed with the reality, even with Logitech which unfortunately suffers from very poor software for Mac. This is different – the quality is immediately excellent even without any software tweaks, and the software itself just adds another reason to buy it. The image is crisp, natural-looking, and the exposure & white balance is really accurate, even on the auto settings. Fixed focus works perfectly because it has a very good depth of field, and I’m always sitting in the same place anyway! The digital zoom is handy too, and setting sharpness to either 1 or 2 gives me the best image I’ve ever seen on a webcam without going up to a DSLR. Highly recommended, and so glad I found it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this camera in order to improve the picture quality of my virtual meetings, and it has delivered very well – when I compare it with the output of my built-in camera, it is like ‘night and day’.

The Facecam clips to the top of the laptop lid, without impinging on the edge of the screen, and you can tilt and swivel the lense housing so that it points in exactly the right direction. It also comes with Elgato’s Camera Hub software, so you can easily adjust the brightness, colour saturation, contrast, etc.

It has a Sony component in it, which means that picture quality-wise it’s getting close to a DLSR. Two things to be aware of are, though: There is no built-in microphone; and it does not have auto-focus. An external mic is a better idea in any case, but the lack of auto-focus could be a problem for some…

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBy this point I’m confident about buying Elgato products because although they often cost more, the quality is far superior to the competition.

This webcam is excellent and has a number of features that make it stand out. It includes a proper sensor which makes the body and housing a little bigger than other webcams but it is also incredibly light. It is the first webcam I have owned that you can remove the cable from at the back of the unit which is very handy to do.

The Facecam comes with a clip on privacy cap – although I wish this could be attached to the unit. It also comes with software which lets you tinker with all sorts of settings including ISO. This is brilliant for getting your picture just how you like. Also for the UK you can switch to 50htz which gets rid of that screen flicker you can get with some lights.

The Facecam has a fixed range rather than autofocus which sounds weird but in practice is brilliant. Never has anything I have wanted in focus been out of focus and I don’t have to wave my hand around to try and change the focal point.

The picture quality is by far the best I have seen on a webcam and I highly recommend picking this up if you are all bothered about having clear crisp picture on your webcam. Elgato once again prove that they are worth the extra

Ridiculously good image quality and ease of use. Fixed focus a big bonus for most applications. 1080p 60fps looks great. The software allows a lot of adjustment too. For example, I found turning off the noise reduction gave better results in most scenarios, unless it was really dark. Awesome that you can save all settings to the camera. Works flawlessly on MacBook Pro.
