My son collects pocket knives, he uses the for several hobbies and at his work. The fact it has a serial number was pleasing as there are so many copies. Great value for money and a brilliant quality blade

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI am not going to say it was great for the price but as a mini/small well made knife it’s okay and does the job. Putting the blade back in is a bit fiddly until you get used to it. With people using knives for all the wrong reasons it’s difficult now to find a traditional and acceptable knife for practical use and choice is limited but this one works for most things. Blade is only 2inches. You are allowed upto a 3inch knife in the UK now so check first.

Small sturdy knife . Light weight . Buts should be under uk legal knives as the lock makes it illegal

If cut parcels, and similar to this one, is you knife, for anything else use real knife

    Not this time unfortunately

Perfect for opening our parcel deliveries especially where the plastic wrapping is difficult to remove

Good quality knife.. light weigh and small enough for the pocket.
Sturdy blade. Very handy and I’d buy another straight away if I lost it.
Not that easy to open and close with one hand.

Use it daily and it’s still sharp enough to open boxes

I am crazy about knives, I buy it, because it looks nice. I use it for opening envelopes. Not very sharp or blunt. Just a toy.

Great product, fairly priced, sharpens easily, smaller than expected and one rubber baring losened making it a bit less snappy but overall a brilliant knife, perfect for young people

Great knife but remember it is illegal to have this in your possession when in public unless you have a very good reason as it a locking knife so go for a non locking function to be safe.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersI bought this knife to open the packages from Amazon, and as they come well packed – they need something sharp to be opened.
    * This little guy was super sharp out of the box and it will stay sharp for a long time before needing to be touched up.
    * The styling and finish are fantastic.
The one’s I’ve purchased didn’t have any noticeable flaws, scratches, etc. It’s visually very attractive.
    * It’s a lockback mechanism — it is very efficient and tight – so, once you open it, you don’t need to worry about it closing on your hand.

It’s just what I was looking for!

    Pros:
    + Compact and lightweight
    + Well-constructed
    + Durable
+ Very secure lock and close
    + Affordable

    Cons:
    – No complaints!
( I will update this post if any quality issues arise )

If you are looking for a small pocket knife for every day carry, for light duty (cutting open boxes, opening a package, cutting zip ties, opening envelopes etc.) – this is a great choice.
    Definitely recommended!

    Sharp, durable, lightweight, inexpensive

The knife feels well made, is lightweight and a good size. Had no issues with it and have it clipped to my belt loops for whenever I need it. Information is incorrect it does not have a hard plastic sheath.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersI bought this as I wanted a little knife to use as a box opener for my many Amazon packages. This seemed to tick the boxes, its small, sharp and relatively inexpensive.

The packaging was nice to look at, but I could have done with the knife to get into it, frustration free it was not – some work required i think here.

Once you have battled past the robust packaging, what you are presented with is a small but well made, nicely styled cutting device. The blade itself doesn’t come mega sharp, however it sharpens well and seems to hold its edge. If Mick Dundee were here he’d be telling me “Thats not a knife” – but luckily I don’t live in a 1980’s movie!!

The blade pulls out without any safety catch (not like you can do it accidentally) and clicks into a locked position with a satisfying sound. When you have finished cutting, carving and chopping (or whatever it is you intend to do with it) then there is a metal lever to press before you can manually fold the blade down.

This lever – as commented in some other reviews is pretty stiff, and actually requires more force that i think is necessary. I think this makes the knife a little unsafe as the extra force required could distract from the pointy end of things. A small risk, but one that could have been avoided.

Overall, I am pleased with my purchase – the knife will almost certainly get regular use – 1 point lost for the frustrating packaging and the excessive force required to close the blade.

    A handy little knife

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersSlightly smaller than I expected but it’s a great little knife especially for the price. I can’t fault it, I have larger more expensive knives that have a softer feel to the mechanisms but they cost upwards of 40 and this was a tenner…ish.
I guess the mechanism is a little stiffer than my bigger knives simply because of the size, I don’t feel that it’s a reflection on the quality.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersNice little pen-knife for odd jobs round the house. Small blade was not very sharp when received but took an edge well and seems to hold it reasonably. It has a liner lock which locks up solidly.
The small blade size is fine, but the handle on the mini version is a bit small to get a good grip – but I expected that when I ordered it. I might also get one of the bigger versions for bigger jobs.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersGot this for use at work (I order machine parts for Powered Access engineers) to open all the various parcels we receive daily.

A few weeks on and the blade is still sharp and the frame is sturdy along with the hinge.

In all a great little knife I would readily recommend.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI bought this product mainly for opening packackes, and cutting tape etc. I love how small it is, and the build quality is also great. Feels very sturdy and blade is also respectably sharp.

It has a safety mechanism where the blade is out, it won’t fold unless physically pushing the metal blocker away.

I would recommend it, especially at this price point.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharp, sturdy, good build quality. Ideal for opening packackes, cutting tape and other small jobs.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis knife is ideal for anything.
I’ve used it to cut veg, slice fish, get dirt from under my nails, cut rope and even used it for markings.
A true utility. To be used carefully though as it is very sharp and dangerous. Took me while to figure how to close it but there is a safety when it opens that needs to be pushed in to close which I think is very clever.
The size is approximately the size of the base of the palm to the top of the middle finger (average male size).
    Highly recommended.

A lot smaller than I was expecting but that’s my fault for not reading the description properly. A great, very sturdy feeling knife from Gerber that will go very nicely in my pocket for every day carry. The holes in the para framing allow for plenty of room for some paracord to be looped through too.

Feels strong in the hand, reliable and secure locking mechanism that’s reasonably easy to unlock. The blade will need sharpening though as I didn’t think it was very good when I received it.

Good to look at nice feel to it, Sharpened a pencil with ease straight out of the box very sharp at the very bottom of the blade as I found out today like a nasty paper cut good quality not to keen on the locking mechanism will go nice with the rest of my collection.

Only real downfall was royal mail :/

This small knife is a great tool as it is practical even though its size. the knife is sharp and light with an additional clip for the in-pocket clip which helps to prevent loosing the knife when moving a lot. the knife however does need sharpening regularly to ensure it stays sharp and for the first few times when sharpening the knife, paint does come of the blade.

Overall, this is a great product and would recommend to any of my friends and family.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSensible price for a great wee bit of gear…. Kept its edge despite abuse from the various types of materials I’ve used it on…. It’s SMALL. don’t be expecting to be butchering anything with this, (Well not very quickly) it’s one of those things that I’ve found a heap of uses for and it slips into a pocket with very little weight it can even clip onto a shirt pocket with a biro style clip which is prefitted. Yep I’d recommend it…as a quick accessible tool… If your thinking bout serving in the rainforest …. I’d say look for something a tad larger.

I have owned a Gerber paraframe mini for 2 years and can honestly say this little Knife is more than capable of doing most jobs,
wouldn’t be without it when out in the field it keeps its edge for quite a wile and when it does go dull I can get the edge back razor sharp with a few stokes on a steel.
Reason I purchased another 2 is because I was so afraid of loosing it and the price is less than half the price I paid for my first one.

i have had a few of these little gerber knives. they are so useful to have clipped inside your back pocket. a great quality build. if it gets dirty and full of grit you can even dismantle it with a small star driver and clean all the separate parts.
one of my previous mini paraframe knives was the half serrated blade. this was great for cutting rope, small branches, etc, but was more difficult to re-sharpen, so this time i opted for the straight bladed knife. the knife does retain a decent edge and is easily kept ready for work using a small ceramic sharpener.

Golden Review Award: 32 From Our UsersThis knife is small and light it weighs just 38.5g its total length closed is 77mm, width is23mm at the widest point and 13mm thick, in the open position (with the blade out) this knife is 133mm. I bought this knife to use at work for opening boxes and cutting shrink wrap on pallets while delivering beer (I am a drayman) I find this knife doesn’t seem to keep a edge very long and wont stay sharp. It also has a belt clip so you can clip it to your belt or just slide it in your pocket, I hope you find this review helpful.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis knife is smaller than I was expecting but I should have realized from the length of the blade what I was getting. I have got used to it during the times I have used it. I would think it would be a bit uncomfortable for someone with bigger or stiff hands. Evidently being a lock knife, even with this short blade, it is illegal to carry this without good reason.

I use it for cutting patches etc for shooting and for opening packaging including cardboard boxes from Amazon! It is very sharp and so far has not blunted at all. I will see how I get on over the next few months and review it again after I have sharpened it a couple of times.

    Updated 17/12/13

I have reread my earlier comments, my opinion of the knife has not really changed. It remained sharp for some time, better than expected (and contrary to some other reviewers experience’s.) It sharpened up reasonably well with the small Gerber sharpener I also bought at the same time. However not as well as originally. A diamond hone works much better.

I still find the knife too small and would not buy it again for that reason. Nice but a bit impractical for many uses.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI bought this knife for every day carry, and it serves that purpouse very well. It is of good build quality and folds down to a very compact package. It was completely dull right out of the package, but was easy to sharpen. The steel seems to be of okay quality considering the price but loose its edge a bit too easy. The only thing I don’t like with the knife is that it can’t be opened with one hand. Great knife for the price.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersI’ve been using a spyderco copilot for sharpening my pencils and general cutting purposes. It’s a geat small knife but I’ve never been that happy with the serrated edge.

The gerber has been bought to replace it in my pencil roll and it’s shown itself very much what I wanted, It’s small easy to open and resonably sharp out of the box. A couple of passes with a water stone, so much easier on a straight blade than a serrated, and it’s razorlike.

No play side to side and a positive lock with the frame lock although you must ensure to fully open the blade as it has a small false locking postition at the nearly open point. As it uses plastic washers between the blade and the frame I suspect that over time there will be wom play developing but that is never a major thing on a blade this size as you aren’t going to be relying on its pry bar capacity. Replacing washers on a screw closed frame is also easy enough if you feel it’s worth doing.

The expensive spyderco now resides with the knife collection and the gerber will go everywhere with me and my sketch books. So much cheaper and less of a strain if lost. I’d say it’s the ideal artists companion.

If what you want is a small unobtrusive means of small scale cutting that won’t put a dent in your pocket or wallet then this is a definite buy option. I think now that I’ve played with it some I’ll get a few more for around the house.

    I
