I bought this so I didn’t have to straighten my hair using flat irons everyday.
The brush itself is the usual ghd quality, well made and heats up well.
The principle of this is fantastic and its really easy to use. My teenage daughter, could use this with more confidence than using conventional flat irons.
So why only 4 stars. Well, although this is a fantastic product, I felt like it wasn’t really compatible with my hair type.
I have fine, shoulder length hair, so it felt like there was very little traction. My hair just ‘floated’ on top of the bristles. This meant, my hair wasn’t really touching the heat.
My daughter on the other hand has a lot of thick hair and this worked perfectly. But she still choose to use the ghd original straightener.
Seriously one brush through and smooth hair. I have lots of fine hair and hate all the fuss of partitioning hair then using straighteners. One stroke = smooth hair (use anti frizz spray first). Highly recommend
When I get back from my walks in the drizzle / rain ( & lets face it that’s most days! ) my hair looks awful – a fuzzy mess. This gadget really does smooth out the frizz in seconds. It’s better and quicker than anything else I’ve tried and leaves my hair smooth and shiny. A brilliant bit of kit that I wouldn’t want to live without now!
My wife has a Dyson hairdryer and mentioned this ,so took a gamble a d got it as a Christmas present. So pleased I did, she loves it and uses it with her hairdryer to get a great finish. I would recommend.
Their combined view is they are excellent, save time and do a great job!
I’m very pleased with the product but not with the state of the parcel when it arrived (see photos above). Good job the item was for me, or I would have returned it. I would have thought that such a high price item could have been packed better by Amazon & not just put in a paper bag!
I would say that if you have short (above shoulder) curly hair, it would be difficult to use the glide brush effectively. I’d recommend sticking to straighteners. But for long hair of any texture, the glide brush is decent.
If you’re on a tight budget and already own GHD straighteners, I don’t think that having the glide brush is that necessary.
Fast delivery, great item.
Thanks GHD even husbands like you
Mike
I’ve used GHD straighteners for years and they are great, but this suits me so much better. It’s quick to heat up and so much faster to straighten my hair. With straighteners I would lose a decent amount of hair each time but that’s not an issue with the glide brush. It works best when you use your other hand to hold the hair taut. I have thick, shoulder length quite curly hair and this has replaced my straighteners completely.
I purchased this on a whim as wanted something quick and easy. I have naturally curly hair and although this is not poker straight it definitely straightens it enough with a bit of volume. It’s so much quicker when you don’t have time to straighten your hair fully with straightners. It’s also helps with the little bits of hair that stick up at the back on men’s hair.
I have a jaw length Bob, which a lot of flyaway hairs. After a bit of practice, I’d say let the styler heat to the maximum temperature, then glide underneath, rather than from the top/outside of the hair downwards. My hair now has body, but is sleek and mainly flyaway free. Glad I took the plunge and purchased, especially at the offer price.
Couldn’t be happier with this product. I already have GHD straighteners, but let’s face it, you need a bit of time to get your hair poker straight and that’s not always going to be the case. This is brilliant for a quick fix when in a hurry, or to refresh bed head hair the next day. Yes, it won’t get the same poker effect of a straightener, but you will get a smooth and natural look in under 5 minutes. My hair is below shoulder length, and I first tried it out two days since washed, been to the gym, frizzy hair. The result? Perfectly acceptable look to go out.
I purchased these after seeing them advertised on the Daily Mail online, I had a look on here and read the mixed reviews. However one review shows a before and after photo with a lady going through her daughters hair with them and I was very impressed, as her daughters hair texture etc is the same as my daughters. They arrived today and I’m impressed not disappointed at all, her hair isn’t as poker straight as it would be if she used the ghd straighteners, however it’s 80% straightener and sleeker. I’d definitely recommend these.
I like how fast this takes to use. It is much faster than straightening. No it doesn’t make my hair completely straight but it’s not meant to and neither do hair straighteners tbh. It takes away most of my frizz which is what I want while doing some straightening.
The problem I do have with it though is that because the brush bit is hot your hair has to be completely tangle free. And I mean completely. I use a tangle teaser before and during using this but still difficult, especially at the ends of the day. And as this product is meant for girls with frizzier and hair on the wavy/curly side it’s slightly disappointing although not sure how it could be avoided with this type of product. Especially when my hair is a mix of loose curls/waves. I find I can’t do the ends of my hair properly so doesn’t look as smooth as I want at the bottom.
But the 5 minutes to brush through my hair is nice and quick in the mornings which is why I got it so it serves its purpose.
I was quite surprised by the weight of this brush but it wasn’t a problem for me. I have waist length hair and I straigtened it quite quickly, It heats up fast so you don’t have to wait long. The on/ off switch is in an awkward place as I kept hitting it with my thumb whilst using the brush, but that said I didn’t switch it off.. it’s more of an annoyance than anything else. This brush is perfect for shoulder length hair and longer. I’m not sure if it would be good for anything shorter purely for the size of the brush part. I would recommend it and it would be a fabulous gift for someone
I’ve been eyeing this brush for a while now, put off by the hefty price-tag, all while wondering if it really does walk the walk. Finally though, having tried a few cheaper options with disappointing results, I took the plunge and haven’t looked back. The brush is compact though for some may feel hefty. It comes in a sleek box with minimal packaging.
I unpacked it and eagerly held down the on-off button to get it going. After a moment it beeped and flashed, and began to heat up. I waited impatiently and after around 90 seconds, it beeped again to indicate it was ready. The light stayed on and grabbing it, I began to pull it through a section of my dry frizzy hair. It took two tries to get it just right; the slow glide that seems to do the trick. In three strokes, the section of my hair became instantly smoother and shiny and I moved on to the next bit. In all, it took me around 6 minutes to work through my thick coarse hair.
I next tried the brush when I next washed my hair: I followed my usual routine of washing, then blasting my hair with my 2600w hairdryer. As usual, this left it looking like the wrong end of a battered broom. Rather than smothering it in defrizzing products and tying it back with hairpins to tame the front, Out came the GHD glide. Within five minutes (yes I timed it) my hair was transformed from its usual frizzy mess to a shiny manageable mane. I now use the glide once every few days, when the dreaded frizz shows its face In the month I’ve had it, I’ve probably used it more than my GHD straighteners which I’ve had for over seven years.
A few points to be aware of though: this brush will not straighten the same way straighteners do — I’m always left with the odd kink near my scalp. Personally I don’t mind that, it’s better than my usual frizz. Second, it won’t turn off if you accidentally press the button when using it — like I do each time I use it. To turn it off, hold the on-off button down for a few seconds; it will beep and flash, then go off. Third, its not the easiest thing to clean; I wait until it has cooled down, then clean it using a toothbrush which is simple enough to do.
Overall though, it has transformed my hair; I thought I’d have to live with frizzy hair, had resigned myself to it and accepting that for me straighteners though getting rid of the frizz, were to damaging to my already dry hair, now I enjoy sleek shiny hair on a daily basis. I doubt any hot brush can produce poker-straight hair, but this one at least gets rid of one of my worst enemies, frizz.
I think it took me less than 20 min to do my hair when it normally takes 35/40 with hair straighteners (I worked in big sections and it works fine). I want to clarify my hair isn’t as straight as it is with straighteners but it is not what I am looking for , I wanted smooth hair, no statics and volume/bouncy and results that last until my next hair wash and it does! Also the device is quiet and that’s a big pros for me.
I found it works well on my daughter’s hair too (at least that one time).
I bought a returned device (from Amazon warehouse) the box was damaged but the device barely had marks and was almost half the price, definitely worth it! Also I feel like it reduces waste so that’s good too.
I also wanted to comment on the lack of heat setting and placement of the button.
The heat is perfect, I normally use 200 degrees C but I understand this one is 185 and it works perfectly.
Then the button, well I don’t see how it’s a problem, you have to press for a while to turn it off so you’re unlikely to turn it off by accident. It’s really simple to use, you can’t make a device more straight forward.
So it’s a big 5***** for me, if I could go on holiday I that definitely would me one of my essentials!
Now, I wonder if I should add ghd hair straighteners on my wishlist? 😉
1. Weight; this is not a heavy brush. The only way it can be classified as ‘heavy’ is if you are comparing it to a non-hot-brush, and in which case the weight difference is understandable.
2. The on/off button. Yes it is in a position that you can easily press. BUT to turn this off you have to hold the button down, meaning that pressing it accidentally during use makes absolutely no difference.
3. The actual intended use of this (lol, can’t believe this has to be said); if you have “mostly straight hair” then this brush will not do a whole amount. This brush is designed for people with wavy and unruly hair that needs a helping hand to be manageable. It is NOT designed to replace your straighteners, it does a completely different thing and is aimed at very different hair/styles. If this was designed to replace straighteners entirely, GHD would have stopped making straighteners.
Long story short is that this is actually a fantastic brush and does wonders for my thick wavy hair, and my hair isn’t even long, its probably about 7 inches on top. Just don’t expect it to replace your straighteners, nor to perform literal magic if your hair is already pretty straight; don’t buy them they aren’t designed for you.
Now however, the wait is over and there’s finally a GHD brush – Hoorah, it was a long time coming!
The product itself is quiet heavy, making it less suitable to quick ‘brushing’ type movements. After a while it gets awkward and tiring on the wrists to use. Heats up quick on the one setting with a simple on/off button.
I have fine shoulder/mid length hair. I was expecting it to take me seconds to brush out kinks, but actually it was more effort than I imagined. I suspect this is probably because the fine hairs glide through too easily and that thicker, heavier hair that has some weight to it would connect against the iron plate bristles better?
That being said, it did the quick kink removal trick on my hair and is a win for my everyday “cba to do my hair before work this early in morning” routine.
Leave my hair looking like it’s been blow dried straight rather than straightened – which is exactly what I want as that leaves me with bounce and volume instead of limp and flyaway.
