I bought this so I didn’t have to straighten my hair using flat irons everyday.
The brush itself is the usual ghd quality, well made and heats up well.
The principle of this is fantastic and its really easy to use. My teenage daughter, could use this with more confidence than using conventional flat irons.
So why only 4 stars. Well, although this is a fantastic product, I felt like it wasn’t really compatible with my hair type.
I have fine, shoulder length hair, so it felt like there was very little traction. My hair just ‘floated’ on top of the bristles. This meant, my hair wasn’t really touching the heat.
My daughter on the other hand has a lot of thick hair and this worked perfectly. But she still choose to use the ghd original straightener.
Seriously one brush through and smooth hair. I have lots of fine hair and hate all the fuss of partitioning hair then using straighteners. One stroke = smooth hair (use anti frizz spray first). Highly recommend
When I get back from my walks in the drizzle / rain ( & lets face it that’s most days! ) my hair looks awful – a fuzzy mess. This gadget really does smooth out the frizz in seconds. It’s better and quicker than anything else I’ve tried and leaves my hair smooth and shiny. A brilliant bit of kit that I wouldn’t want to live without now!
Was a little sceptical but needed something to help tame the mane every now and then as who has time with two children under 4?! This exceeded expectations! Super speedy and cut my straightening time in half. Heated up within minutes. Definitely should have given it a bit of a detangle before first use but that’s okay. Definitely need hair serum as hair go a little fluffy but the serum smoothed it out quickly enough. Didn’t take ages to cool down. Would very much recommend!
My wife has a Dyson hairdryer and mentioned this ,so took a gamble a d got it as a Christmas present. So pleased I did, she loves it and uses it with her hairdryer to get a great finish. I would recommend.
A purchase for the ladies in my life. I say ladies as my daughter eyed them up from the off!
Their combined view is they are excellent, save time and do a great job!
I’m very pleased with the product but not with the state of the parcel when it arrived (see photos above). Good job the item was for me, or I would have returned it. I would have thought that such a high price item could have been packed better by Amazon & not just put in a paper bag!
First time I’ve used it and I love this brush, I find it’s quicker than the irons, heats up pretty fast and glides through the hair, though you do have to comb it first. Some say it’s a bit heavy, but I’d say it’s quality and you can get right close to the scalp without burning yourself, it does have a large head, and my hair did get very hot even with just one stroke and felt so smooth after, may need to go over again if you have thick course hair, mine is thick but fine and it worked a treat going over once.
I quite like these. it definitely takes a lot less time to sort my hair with the glide brush than with normal GHD straighteners, but the end result looks the same regardless of which I use.
I would say that if you have short (above shoulder) curly hair, it would be difficult to use the glide brush effectively. I’d recommend sticking to straighteners. But for long hair of any texture, the glide brush is decent.
If you’re on a tight budget and already own GHD straighteners, I don’t think that having the glide brush is that necessary.
Do not hesitate, add it to your basket and buy it. There are lots of mix reviews. I was hesitating for a long time to buy it. I’m so happy to decide at the end and bought it. It’s so easy and quick. The results it amazing. This is my favourite hair straightener and it will be the only one I will use for rest of my life. I can’t believe with the result and how quickly I achieve the result.
I was initially a little weary of these but they are now my go to item. They heat up fast and while they are hot enough for the hair your not likely to burn your hands or head with these. They don’t straighten the hair as well as the GHD straighteners do but they are great for taming hair and keeping it neat and tidy. Fast and easy to use I would really recommend if you lack the time to always straighten your hair.
Thanks to positive reviews I purchased this magnificent hot brush to add to a collection of failed to please straighteners and hot brushes, and did so in faith alone due to your reviews. I have combination neck length hair and all other appliances left my hair with static and only smooth here and there, never a salon look until this. Very happy with the purchase.
Loved everything about this product, I only wish I’d found it sooner! I no longer spend ages straightening my hair, I just give my hair a quick brush with this and it’s done.
Fast delivery, great item.
This is the best hair product my wife owns, from the day she got it all I’ve heard are positive comments. I’m so far into her good books I may be able to go to the pub with my mates.
Thanks GHD even husbands like you
Mike
I’ve used GHD straighteners for years and they are great, but this suits me so much better. It’s quick to heat up and so much faster to straighten my hair. With straighteners I would lose a decent amount of hair each time but that’s not an issue with the glide brush. It works best when you use your other hand to hold the hair taut. I have thick, shoulder length quite curly hair and this has replaced my straighteners completely.
I purchased this on a whim as wanted something quick and easy. I have naturally curly hair and although this is not poker straight it definitely straightens it enough with a bit of volume. It’s so much quicker when you don’t have time to straighten your hair fully with straightners. It’s also helps with the little bits of hair that stick up at the back on men’s hair.
Giving is the greatest thing, but buy this as a gift to the right person and you shall receive way more in return. Never underestimate the gift of perfect hair.
It usually takes over half an hour to straighten my hair as it’s very curly, with this it takes a few minutes! I didn’t think it would work but it is great. I paid 15 for this item, I think it was a listing error but I would recommend it for full price.
This is good .. better for your hair than straighteners and works well once you get the hang of it. However .. it really should come with a heat protection glove. You need to use both hands, one to hold it and one to help glide it through your hair, when you are lifting your hair..and the bristles are obviously very hot. So for the price, you would expect a glove.
I really was undecided about whether this would be suitable for fine hair, but decided to purchase. I was pleasantly surprised at the results.
I have a jaw length Bob, which a lot of flyaway hairs. After a bit of practice, I’d say let the styler heat to the maximum temperature, then glide underneath, rather than from the top/outside of the hair downwards. My hair now has body, but is sleek and mainly flyaway free. Glad I took the plunge and purchased, especially at the offer price.
My husband bought me this for my birthday and I was over the moon. I have incredibly thick hair and it takes forever to straighten but with the glide it is so much quicker. I have halved my hair time, and I can get a nice volume at the roots with it. I know it is capable of more but for my skill level it is fab. Definitely recommend
Was in two minds whether or not to give this a go. Everyone in the world seems to swear by straighteners, but I can’t get on with them, so I was unsure if this would be the same. It’s not. For my hair, which is fine, but quite a lot of it and extremely curly with a lot of frizz – this hot brush is waaaayy superior to straighteners. Doesn’t leave the ends looking light and floaty like straighteners. Gives volume and smoothes rather than poker straight flat hair. If your hair is similar- give it a go.
I have the weirdest hair. It is naturally dark blond, very fine, and if left to dry naturally forms all over frizzy ringlets. As soon as I use a haidryer to rough dry it, it goes fluffy and fairly straight, and then the first sign of damp it is frizzy, curly and unmanageable. Safe to say apart from the colour of my hair, I hate it! I bought this thinking I had probably wasted a load of money on yet another expensive hair toy to add to my vast collection of implements that do nothing for my hair! But…..I fairly rough dried my hair after putting some serum on the bottom half, then used this when it was completely dry. My hair is now pretty straight, more shiny (because it is smooth) and after going out in the cold for a walk not the usual dreadful frizzy mess it would be. I have used it three times now, assuming that the first time was a fluke, but no – same results. Takes no time, just like giving your hair a good brush, and heats up in a couple of minutes. I am actually hopeful that this tool will work for me!!
Brilliant product and very fast. I am really impressed with how fast you can achieve a blow-dry look. My only issue was that the product had very minor beauty mistakes, please see the pictures enclosed. I suspect it was used before.
My hair is thick, curly, and frizzy, but I wear it smooth – not poker straight, but smoothed out with a bit of a wave through it. It only needs washing once a week, as it’s dry, but it starts looking frizzy or randomly kinky a couple of days in. If that sounds like your hair, you will LOVE this. I use it for a couple of minutes in the morning and it looks like I’ve just had a blow dry. It’s expensive but oh my god I’m obsessed
I was debating this one for a while because I saw a couple of reviews saying it’s rubbish.oh how wrong they are!!! I have very fine frizzy and curly hair and it usually takes me about 40 minutes to straighten it after blow drying it. I used this after blow drying my hair and it didn’t even take me 10 minutes to have the smoothest and sleekest hair ever. I’m so shocked at how amazing it works, this is going to change my life and I’ll be styling my hair more because of how easy and quick this is and way less damaging than straighteners! I didn’t even need to section off my hair to use this like I normally would when using straighteners! YOU NEED THIS!!!!!!! I even found it easy to get to my roots using this! Life changing hair tool!
This was an impulse Prime Day purchase, I must admit, after a few drinks whilst abroad on holiday! Whilst I was pleased at the discount, I was nevertheless convinced afterwards that I’d wasted 100. The parcel was delivered safely to my work address and was waiting for me when I got home. Despite my scepticism I was very pleasantly surprised. I had been hoping that this could be used on wet hair to dry as it styled, but that’s not how it’s designed to be used. So I gave my hair a blast with the dryer and although not 100% dry, it was still sufficient for the brush to work. As I’ve got older, my slightly wavy hair has become more dry and prone to frizz. If I let it dry naturally, it goes floofy, if I blowdry it, it’s dry and frazzled looking. However, just a few minutes brushing with this tool made it, if not quite salon-perfect as another review said, then certainly closer to it than I’ve ever got myself! It’s not as straight as straighteners achieve, but these days I don’t want poker straight, and it was sooooo much quicker and easier than straighteners! Plus I didn’t burn my scalp or my fingers! This brush tamed the horrible dry frizz to something approaching sleek and I was surprised at how shiny it went. Very happy with this product, and I won’t be putting it straight on eBay after all!
Couldn’t be happier with this product. I already have GHD straighteners, but let’s face it, you need a bit of time to get your hair poker straight and that’s not always going to be the case. This is brilliant for a quick fix when in a hurry, or to refresh bed head hair the next day. Yes, it won’t get the same poker effect of a straightener, but you will get a smooth and natural look in under 5 minutes. My hair is below shoulder length, and I first tried it out two days since washed, been to the gym, frizzy hair. The result? Perfectly acceptable look to go out.
I am one of those people who has drawers full of styling tools always looking for that holy grail that will tame my frizz. I have the sort of hair that is not curly enough to look good without styling and too curly to look good unless I spend 30 minutes drying and straightening it. I have a busy job and used to end up shoving it up in a clip as I didn’t have the time to wrestle with it. I dithered for ages about buying this as I didn’t want to waste yet more money on something that didn’t live up to expectations. But it has just surpassed everything. I can rough dry my hair and then run the brush through it and it is straight but not limp and feels so soft and glossy all day. I can also wash my hair the night before and get up and within 2 minutes I look as if I have really spent that 30 minutes I don’t have getting it perfect. Well worth the money.
I purchased these after seeing them advertised on the Daily Mail online, I had a look on here and read the mixed reviews. However one review shows a before and after photo with a lady going through her daughters hair with them and I was very impressed, as her daughters hair texture etc is the same as my daughters. They arrived today and I’m impressed not disappointed at all, her hair isn’t as poker straight as it would be if she used the ghd straighteners, however it’s 80% straightener and sleeker. I’d definitely recommend these.
I like how fast this takes to use. It is much faster than straightening. No it doesn’t make my hair completely straight but it’s not meant to and neither do hair straighteners tbh. It takes away most of my frizz which is what I want while doing some straightening.
The problem I do have with it though is that because the brush bit is hot your hair has to be completely tangle free. And I mean completely. I use a tangle teaser before and during using this but still difficult, especially at the ends of the day. And as this product is meant for girls with frizzier and hair on the wavy/curly side it’s slightly disappointing although not sure how it could be avoided with this type of product. Especially when my hair is a mix of loose curls/waves. I find I can’t do the ends of my hair properly so doesn’t look as smooth as I want at the bottom.
But the 5 minutes to brush through my hair is nice and quick in the mornings which is why I got it so it serves its purpose.
I was quite surprised by the weight of this brush but it wasn’t a problem for me. I have waist length hair and I straigtened it quite quickly, It heats up fast so you don’t have to wait long. The on/ off switch is in an awkward place as I kept hitting it with my thumb whilst using the brush, but that said I didn’t switch it off.. it’s more of an annoyance than anything else. This brush is perfect for shoulder length hair and longer. I’m not sure if it would be good for anything shorter purely for the size of the brush part. I would recommend it and it would be a fabulous gift for someone
As someone with very curly coarse hair which frizzes when dry, I’ve struggled to tame it all my life. Blow-drying it merely increases its volume four-fold and straighteners while great, flatten it so that it doesn’t feel like my hair at all, plus straightening it takes ages and damages it! Getting it professionally blowed-dried is lovely; it behaves and is still full of body, but like most of the world, I don’t have the money and time to get it blow-dried every week.
I’ve been eyeing this brush for a while now, put off by the hefty price-tag, all while wondering if it really does walk the walk. Finally though, having tried a few cheaper options with disappointing results, I took the plunge and haven’t looked back. The brush is compact though for some may feel hefty. It comes in a sleek box with minimal packaging.
I unpacked it and eagerly held down the on-off button to get it going. After a moment it beeped and flashed, and began to heat up. I waited impatiently and after around 90 seconds, it beeped again to indicate it was ready. The light stayed on and grabbing it, I began to pull it through a section of my dry frizzy hair. It took two tries to get it just right; the slow glide that seems to do the trick. In three strokes, the section of my hair became instantly smoother and shiny and I moved on to the next bit. In all, it took me around 6 minutes to work through my thick coarse hair.
I next tried the brush when I next washed my hair: I followed my usual routine of washing, then blasting my hair with my 2600w hairdryer. As usual, this left it looking like the wrong end of a battered broom. Rather than smothering it in defrizzing products and tying it back with hairpins to tame the front, Out came the GHD glide. Within five minutes (yes I timed it) my hair was transformed from its usual frizzy mess to a shiny manageable mane. I now use the glide once every few days, when the dreaded frizz shows its face In the month I’ve had it, I’ve probably used it more than my GHD straighteners which I’ve had for over seven years.
A few points to be aware of though: this brush will not straighten the same way straighteners do — I’m always left with the odd kink near my scalp. Personally I don’t mind that, it’s better than my usual frizz. Second, it won’t turn off if you accidentally press the button when using it — like I do each time I use it. To turn it off, hold the on-off button down for a few seconds; it will beep and flash, then go off. Third, its not the easiest thing to clean; I wait until it has cooled down, then clean it using a toothbrush which is simple enough to do.
Overall though, it has transformed my hair; I thought I’d have to live with frizzy hair, had resigned myself to it and accepting that for me straighteners though getting rid of the frizz, were to damaging to my already dry hair, now I enjoy sleek shiny hair on a daily basis. I doubt any hot brush can produce poker-straight hair, but this one at least gets rid of one of my worst enemies, frizz.
I have had the GHD glide for 3 days, I used it on my coarse frizzy wavy hair twice and on my daughter’s fine slightly wavy hair once.
I think it took me less than 20 min to do my hair when it normally takes 35/40 with hair straighteners (I worked in big sections and it works fine). I want to clarify my hair isn’t as straight as it is with straighteners but it is not what I am looking for , I wanted smooth hair, no statics and volume/bouncy and results that last until my next hair wash and it does! Also the device is quiet and that’s a big pros for me.
I found it works well on my daughter’s hair too (at least that one time).
I bought a returned device (from Amazon warehouse) the box was damaged but the device barely had marks and was almost half the price, definitely worth it! Also I feel like it reduces waste so that’s good too.
I also wanted to comment on the lack of heat setting and placement of the button.
The heat is perfect, I normally use 200 degrees C but I understand this one is 185 and it works perfectly.
Then the button, well I don’t see how it’s a problem, you have to press for a while to turn it off so you’re unlikely to turn it off by accident. It’s really simple to use, you can’t make a device more straight forward.
So it’s a big 5***** for me, if I could go on holiday I that definitely would me one of my essentials!
Now, I wonder if I should add ghd hair straighteners on my wishlist? 😉
I only felt obligated to write this given the silly negative reviews of this. I’ll address some of the issues noted in other reviews:
1. Weight; this is not a heavy brush. The only way it can be classified as ‘heavy’ is if you are comparing it to a non-hot-brush, and in which case the weight difference is understandable.
2. The on/off button. Yes it is in a position that you can easily press. BUT to turn this off you have to hold the button down, meaning that pressing it accidentally during use makes absolutely no difference.
3. The actual intended use of this (lol, can’t believe this has to be said); if you have “mostly straight hair” then this brush will not do a whole amount. This brush is designed for people with wavy and unruly hair that needs a helping hand to be manageable. It is NOT designed to replace your straighteners, it does a completely different thing and is aimed at very different hair/styles. If this was designed to replace straighteners entirely, GHD would have stopped making straighteners.
Long story short is that this is actually a fantastic brush and does wonders for my thick wavy hair, and my hair isn’t even long, its probably about 7 inches on top. Just don’t expect it to replace your straighteners, nor to perform literal magic if your hair is already pretty straight; don’t buy them they aren’t designed for you.
GHD styling brush it’s what I’ve been waiting for in a product for many years. I’m not a fan of straighteners – stop using them approx 10yrs ago as they make my fine hair look limp and dry it out even with protective spray.
Now however, the wait is over and there’s finally a GHD brush – Hoorah, it was a long time coming!
The product itself is quiet heavy, making it less suitable to quick ‘brushing’ type movements. After a while it gets awkward and tiring on the wrists to use. Heats up quick on the one setting with a simple on/off button.
I have fine shoulder/mid length hair. I was expecting it to take me seconds to brush out kinks, but actually it was more effort than I imagined. I suspect this is probably because the fine hairs glide through too easily and that thicker, heavier hair that has some weight to it would connect against the iron plate bristles better?
That being said, it did the quick kink removal trick on my hair and is a win for my everyday “cba to do my hair before work this early in morning” routine.
Leave my hair looking like it’s been blow dried straight rather than straightened – which is exactly what I want as that leaves me with bounce and volume instead of limp and flyaway.
