I’ve had many straighteners and I still come back to the originals! Smooth driving through hair, easy to curl, lightweight, great cord length and heat up incredibly quick. The heat output is great, i do use a GHD heat spray to protect the hair.They are expensive but for me I wouldn’t buy anything else.
Really pleased with my GHD hair straighteners, heat up very quickly and at most I only have to go over a section of hair twice, I use a heat protection serum before using these and have been really pleased with this product. A big fan of GHD, not the cheapest but it’s a quality product.

They are by far the best straighteners and worth the money as they last.
Bought for my girlfriend last year for 80 as her last pair broke after 10 years. These are still going strong a year later and perform just as well as the last set, can’t go wrong with GHD.

These hair straighteners were not quite as good as my original GHDs did get quite as hot it seemed . After 18 months they’ve just stopped working so I’ve now ordered a different brand
Bought to replace my broken GHD straighteners but these aren’t anywhere near as good.
I saw the other reviews that stated that the plates don’t align causing a gap and decided to take a chance, had my other GHD’s for approx 14yrs and decided to retire them.
Can confirm that the plates do not align properly and at first considered sending them back but couldn’t be bothered with the hassle so I used them and can say that it didn’t actually make any difference.
The gap is so small that it doesn’t really matter, however if the gap bothers you then I wouldn’t get these.
I was reading the comments before I opened these, I was shocked what I read under investigation getting these out the box, 1 the power cord is flat, removed the caps GHD screws either side. The GHD plates do not meet an if you have ones that do they are fake, GHD do not have flat plates for one reason they expand in heat and do not tug the hair or heat damage it. 100% Genuine item. Amazon do not sell fake products also so I believe they wouldn’t ruin there reputation selling counterfeits.
My old faithful Babyliss straightners had died. Always wanted GHD straightners. First thought, the plates are a lot smaller than my prev straightners and took a bit longer to straighten my hair so was going to return but after using a few times I was really impressed how sleek the finish was and there was no burning of the hair strands like my prev straightners did. My hair stayed straight for a lot longer. Definitely recommend.
I got the original GHD styler as an Amazon Warehouse deal, expecting a damaged box and some scratches and imperfections on the styler – but everything was in perfect condition, and looks brand new. A previous review complained about plates not fully meeting (these are a couple of millimetres away at the lower end), so decided to plug them in to test on my hair. Straightened my hair brilliantly and I was also able to some amazing curls (I have normal to thick hair). Something my previous BaByliss straighteners proved difficult to do due them being all metal burning me on every attempt. I am so happy with my purchase.
I have used GHD straighteners for many years and would never use another brand. I have thick wavy hair and they straighten it perfectly.
Having treated myself to new pair I found a problem with the changed hinge design. As it is now open at the bottom I have caught the skin of both my hand and my arm in it several times and it gives quite a pinch.
Such a pity as it seems to be an alteration that serves no purpose.
I was slightly concerned about all the ‘these are fake’ reviews. But figured if they aren’t genuine I can return them. So I decided to go for it!
And I can say they are genuine-I’ve registered them with GHD with no problems. The serial number matches the description it gives on there and matches the number on the holographic sticker. So I think the fake ones may have been by other sellers and the reviews have all combined?
Anyway as far as hair straighteners go they heat up in seconds and so so hot compared to my old ones! Easy to use and they make such a difference to my hair-my hair now looks exactly like how the hairdresser does it so I am really happy and really impressed. Definitely ditching the old straighteners for these!! Brilliant!!
I realised I haven’t reviewed my beloved GHD’s despite buying them in 2009! They are super hair straighteners and I could not be without them.
Before having these, I had tried two different and cheaper brands thinking that I couldn’t justify to myself spending so much money on straighteners and also questioned how different could they be – surely all straighteners are the same? Well the first pair I purchased were hopeless and I had to buy another which only lasted about 15 months or so. Then I invested in GHDs and realised that all straighteners are not the same!
Not only have these lasted me 8 years (and still in perfect working order) but they also straighten my hair more quickly (only one application on each section of hair rather than repeatedly going over the same section).
I use a heat protection spray (various brands – usually whatever is on special offer) and my hairdresser says my hair (which is halfway down my back) is in excellent condition and is not being damaged by regular GHD usage (admittedly I don’t use harsh chemical dyes on my hair).
I am sure that at some point my GHDs will stop working and when that happens I will not hesitate to purchase another pair from Amazon.
I bought another pair of these as my original GHDs which had lasted me about 10 years finally died. I was unsure at first due to the reviews of these not being real but I ordered them anyway (they were only 1 cheaper than the official GHD website but I wanted them next day – Prime)
I was dubious when I opened them as they didn’t seem the same as my original pair- they felt a bit lighter and there was no hologram on the arm, only on the cord tag, and the plug was different. However I managed to register them on he GHD website fine so they are real. They must have just changed them a little since I bought my last pair.
They don’t seem as hot as my old ones but still do the trick, very happy overall.
I bought these GHD’s back in September 2009 (So amazon just reminded me when i clicked on the page – has it really been that long!?) and mine still work perfectly. Okay they have some obvious wear and tear on them, but for the first few years i was literally using them every day!
They work perfectly for straightening, curling, waving everything! I used to have shortish hair (bob style) so i bought the thin ones as they were easier to style with, but since my hair has grown out i could probably get away with the wider plated ones, but i would still buy these. I use them for curling my hair a few times a year for special occasions, or just lightly trying to straighten my hair to reduce the frizz, or for fully straightening my hair. I also have some hair extention clip in’s and these work amazingly on those without ruining them!
They may seem like a lot of money to fork out in one go, but at the price they are currently, i am extremely tempted to buy myself a new pair even though mine still work, knowing i have already had 6 years out of them and can no doubt get a fair bit more wear out of them, which is surprising considering mine have accidentally gotten wet on the occasion when drinks were spilt (oops!). For this i would scrap spending 10-30 on a cheap pair of hair straigteners that you will no doubt need to replace every 6months to a year, and go with these which last a very long time!
There are so many tutorials online on youtube etc to help you with how to use these straighteners for hair curling, to save you forking out on a curling tong as well! They make beautiful tight ringlets or big bold waves and everything in between!
I would never try any other brand of hair straightener. My cousin who is a hair dresser also swears by them, as do most of the other females in my family who style their hair.
I bought this item because I hoped it would work as a straightener or curler for my short (3 – 4 inch) tough hair. Most of the reviews and YouTube videos are for long hair and so I can add that the styler does what I want on my hair, partly because the tongs are narrower than most other straighteners. It heats up in the time it takes to spray on a heat-protecting liquid and announces when it is ready with a little bleep. I then take a section of hair between the blades and curl it quite hard around them, holding it for a few seconds before releasing. The result is curls which I then break up a little with my fingers to appear more natural. This has been easier than with a curling wand and the curls have withstood recent winds as well as reducing the need for products to keep the look. As for registration: I had a problem with making the GHD website accept the product/hologram code but I typed in as much as it would take and added the date code. I then optimistically clicked “submit” and up came another form with separate spaces for the hologram code which then went through. It is important to register as there seem to be fakes around and, also, any firm needs to contact owners for recall of a product if it develops a fault which affects safety.
The straighteners themselves are good but I have to say there’s not a huge amount of difference between them and my 20 Remington ones.
Overall I would say go for these if you have the money but if you don’t, you won’t be missing out on much by buying a cheaper pair ( I recommend the Remington S3500 Ceramic Straight 230 Hair Straightener).
However, just shop around to make sure you get the best price!
I’ve never been a connoisseur of applying gunk to hair or using heat on hair and I guess this is why everyone says my hair is so healthy and thick. I was reluctant to buy these, but was showing off (yes, we are all guilty of this) and I already had a cheaper pair that I barely used. My hair is long and thick and I have arthritis everywhere, which means that it is hard to style my hair as my hands and arms ache after two sections. This make is tough to do much with my hair. However, these straighteners are wider and longer than usual ones, meaning I could straighten my hair in only five sections if I am really struggling. In addition to this, they beep to tell YY you have switched them on and they beep again when they are ready to use. You don’t have to wait long at all. I bought a mat so I could put them down safely. You don’t have to unplug them, just make sure you switch them off. I have used these more than I ever thought I would use any and they don’t make my hair scratty like lots of them do!
These straighteners are the best there is no doubt about that, not only do they straighten your hair quickly and easily, the style also seems to last much longer than when you use other products. They are easy to use and always give a super result. My only problem with them is they DON’T LAST! For a price of around 100 and when being used possibly four times a week max, I would expect more than two years service especially as I have always stored them correctly and followed all the other rules. I have gone through two pairs of the above in less than four years, each time they have started making crackling noises and then begun beeping all the time before they finally give up the ghost! I bought my daughter a pair with the wider plates they have also developed the same fault and are now on their last legs. I know little about hair straightening issues, as I am totally bald myself, but am able to observe the workings of a product and get feedback from my wife.
The product is well made and seems robust. The main difference between this and the Babyliss straightener was the thickness of the ceramic plates and the additional heat this straightener creates compared to the Babyliss. You will like this if you need it to get very hot to really straighten your hair although you will probably have to use a heat protection spray on your hair.
At first I think my wife was a little underwhelmed and at first I wondered if it had been worth spending almost twice as much on this product as the Babyliss. However, it is definitely the case that my wife has come to appreciate the additional quality of these straighteners over the Babyliss ones with continues use. If they last a good few years I suspect she will want another pair.
A couple of things- the power light flashes on them. At first my wife thought it was defective but it is not- I presume (without reading the instructions) it is designed to catch the eye so you do not leave them on- a good idea.
However, if you do leave them on, they eventually turn themselves off.
Also they have built in multi voltage transformer, so when you take them to a country like the US, with lower power voltage, they will still heat up to the same level.
I think you often get what you pay for, and these seem to fit into that category.
After purchasing almost 50 different straigteners just so that I could get good results and have decent looking hair I step out again and I bought this product thinking “there I go again purchasing a product that will give me mediocure service” however I am pleased to say that I shall never purchase another type of straigthener again. I wash my hair (and sisters you know how that goes sometimes) moisturize,blow dry and then sit with my miracle worker straightening peice by peice and when I am done its like I just stepped out of a saloon. lite, bouncy and straight I mean it does the job! no joke here!. even after going out in the humidity or damp weather the hair is still working it! I am singing the praises of GHD everywhere I go. its a bit pricy but its worth it!!! I would not waste my time to put this review here if it wasn’t trust me its GOOD!!.
