Very nice to play on feels like a GameCube and it’s nice that there won’t be any drifting going on with this controller. Which is always happening with the original controllers, even the pro controller! Horrible. Well, I love it and I can only recommend it if you’re into GameCube controllers and like that I’m sure you will be happy with this one!
Dennoch klare Kaufempfehlung!
I play fighting games on the Switch, and I was looking for a joycon replacement that has a great d-pad. After numerous of devices later, I can confidently say that this device by Retroflag has the best d-pad so far for the Nintendo Switch.
The device has other features, like turbo or button swap, but I couldn’t care less. I can also say the same about “the cons” as other reviewers might pointed out such as the absence of back buttons or wake-up function. The d-pad is all that matters to me.
Well, I also like the fact that the hall sensor analog sticks will prevent the Switch from drifting. Something that’s quite annoying in the past.
The only minor gripe that I have with the device is that there are some visible gaps between the system and the controller, something that was not a problem with my previous pad.I uploaded some photos as comparison.
As in title, it really needed assignable back buttons. The sticks snapback also is an issue although magnetic hall effect analogues. This is the case woth all controllers though so I guess it’s ok. Finally as a con, it cannot wake the switch with the home button, also not a big issue since you have it on your hands and can press the power button. Muscle memory is the issue here.
Other than that it is a good controller, feels great and looks great. I could see myself spending 50E all over again if I didn’t have it already. Having said that for 50E is a good deal
This controller is so much better then joycons. I’ve always found that the joycons feel kinda flimsy and small so replacing them with this was a really good call. It’s super responsive and feels very sturdy. It adds quite a bit of weight to the switch, which while it ain’t too bad for me, I’d imagine a kid would likely drop it easily, so be cautious of that if you’re getting this for a kiddo.
I’ve seen some people complain about rail scratches, but from what I’ve experienced with my regular ol’ switch, it hasn’t been scratches, I’d assume the scratching is more something to be wary of if you’re using this controller with an OLED switch.
The buttons are also very clicky and have quite the loudness to them. It’s not bothersome to me personally, but if you don’t like loud button clicking this controller probably isn’t the best option. Overall it’s a pretty sweet controller, feels great and looks cool and retro style. It’s certainly running laps around the joycons in terms of quality, that’s for sure!
Son loves this, great alternative to using drifting controllers. Looks good, though a tad heavy.
Worth the money. Fits the Oled perfectly. I would like the makers to bring out different colour variations, such as jungle green or atomic purple.
he best thing about thus item is that theres a backing so if you hold the switch in one hand it still feels very sturdy
Overall this is decent controller and the analog sticks are far better than those found in the joycons.
However I feel like this controller wants to drop out of your hands if held vertically with a switch attached. The extra weight combined with a smooth and slippy plastic finish gives a feeling that the controller is going to slip out of your hands, particularly as your hands begin to warm up against the plastic. This has personally caused some hand clenching while holding it the controller resulting in occasional cramps. I have average sized but slim hands so this may not be a problem for everyone. Some textured or rubber grips on the underside of the handles would go a long way to helping with this.
Absolutely brilliant
The build quality is better than anything alternative on the market
This really is the best switch controller for portable use
The rumble feels incredible it’s strong but also quiet
Sticks are smooth and flawless I really can’t fault this controller at all
I have been on a mission to find the best controller .
I’ve tried different cases , controllers and this is the BEST.
I’ll never use anything else in handheld mode.
Rumble and Dual Motor Vibration I’ve used other controllers with and without it like the hori split pads. I would cDual Motor Vibration
hoose these over them for this reason alone
No Drift experienced
Ergonomic perfect for my long fingers
Motion Sensing better to have to option I say
It does provide Passthru Charging, but I didn’t use it While Charging.
Comfortable, I’ve not been able to play Switch games portably for ages since JoyCon drift occurred with my two pairs of JoyCons from Nintendo.
Retroflag HALL sensor sticks mean none of that concern.
This RetroFlag pad was reviewed by a few popular YouTubers, so I was excited to get it too.
Does everything as advertised.
It even fits one of my larger Switch Carry-cases (was extra wide due to the ergonomic grips I had in a previous Gripcase).
Only possible downsides,
1/ the c-Stick probably isn’t as comfortable as a normal analog top, if you are used to the normal for Camera Controls.
2/ Shoulder Triggers are Digital and not Analog (not that many games support soft pull vs full pull these days). -> it would have been cool to be able to remap/reprogram that FULL PULL for Mario Sunshine.
I still wouldn’t Play Mario Sunshine on the 3D All Stars Collection – because there is no Analog trigger support in that neither. (PS I have a S T E AM D. E. C. K. – so I am spoiled for choice)
Final verdict: if you are an OLED or OG SWITCH owner, get this Retroflag pad. JRPGs and CRISIS CORE played portably is a joy.
Basically fixes all of the issues that I had with the Switch after buying a Steam Deck and realized how bad the ergonomics of the Switch with the joycon controllers really are.
I prefer to play handheld and not docked and this turns the Switch into a true gaming handheld. Exactly what is needed if you play handheld and are not satisfied with the default joycon controllers.
In the five years I have owned a Switch, this is the first time I would happily use it in handheld mode. I Love the rumble, it’s got a good weight and feels great in hand. Highly recommended!
Se potessi dare 10 stelle lo farei
Spettacolare, ben fatto e bellissimo

I’m speechless. I’ve used them all. Joy cons, split pad pro, so many controllers for handheld and nothing was right. ETA PRIME did a video on this and I just had to have it! Extremely EXTREMELY comfortable, NO STICK DRIFT EVER, it fast charges, super SUPER smooth too as it’s meant to be a GameCube controller for the switch! BUY THIS IMMEDIATELY!!!
Love it. Makes the Switch feel very premium. Love the GameCube aesthetic.
Having suffered from cramps and pins and needles from using the standard Joy-Cons on my Switch I had been looking for an alternative controller to use in handheld mode.
I did consider the Hori Split Pad Pro (Pac-Man version) but the the classic GameCube styling paired with the Hall (no drift) analogue sticks sealed the deal on this Retroflag offering.
So far it works great. I have used it comfortably for up to 40 minutes with no cramps or discomfort.
The switchable buttons and turbo mode make it ideal for run and gun/shooter games, and the slightly larger full D-pad make Street Fighter moves easy to pull off.
The controller also has vibration which adds some nice feedback during gameplay.
The Switch slides down into the controller and onto the USB-C connection. I had to flex the back of the controller ever so slightly to get it to fit first time, but it has been fine since.
The controller also has the ability to Fast charge whilst in use.
Build quality looks very good and having purchased a variety of products from Retroflag over the years I’m confident it should last.
One small gripe is that the shoulder buttons are digital and I would have preferred analogue for racing games like Grid.
Note: Before using ensure “Pro Controller Wired Communication” is set to “On” (System Settings >> Controllers and Sensors).
Overall the GameCube styling, Hall analogue sticks, Full D-pad and ergonomic design have made this a win for me.
