Brilliant large screen. In fact, it is huge. Sometimes you have to push it away to watch a film. Lasts ages and ages. Software is quite good. We only use it for media consumption on trips and holidays. Not great for productivity. But, for the low price, this is a bargain. Recommended.
I bought this for my older brother. He is very pleased with it. Surfs the web, does online shopping etc. No problems. He said watching Netflix is great. Very good picture and brightness. Would recommend he reckons.
Better than I thought. Value for money, speed is excellent, screen and responsive is exceptional, the operating version of Android is good but a bit weird in places but that is being very picky. I recommend this the 12 inch screen is brilliant, I have used various Samsung’s before, but this is comparable with a slightly bigger screen, for my needs it’s brilliant, for maps and streaming.
Purchased for my wife and wasn’t expecting the quality of build to as good as it is.
Running Android 13 is excellent for a budget tablet added to that you get a 11.5 inch screen with great quality picture run YouTube no problem and outputs the video to my Sony TV without an signs degradation to picture quality.
I can highly recommend this Honor Tab X9 I myself have galaxy S7 and pound for pound its as good.
To qualify me, though I am 68 I have a desktop, laptop, 2 tablets and a smartphone so I have an idea of what I am doing. I mention this because I have to say, setting up this thing yesterday was awful! The moment you open it there is no auto and no guidance at all, you have to wander around randomly as *settings* doesn’t work, you are not logged on, so you have to investigate what will accept you. THEN, there is no flow from screen to screen as is normal, you have to suck it and see. When I eventually got sorted, well, I hadn’t, because this morning when I logged on I was reminded to finish setting up and there was another 5 minutes worth!
Then, the home page and menu is like no other I have ever seen and again you have to suck it and see, and most of what is normally on your home page is actually not there, it’s saved to when you swipe left. Obviously, I am now getting used to it and it’s fine.
As I said, I only got it yesterday so cant really comment on the battery life.
NOW! The good bits!!! The SOUND is pretty good and fine for a tablet. The SPEED is very good and so far I’m not really spotting any lag at all in operating things, jumping between apps etc. The DISPLAY is simply brilliant! The screen is absolute crystal, vivid, bright and sharp, and as good as any I have had, beautifully clear and a real pleasure to look at and use, to the extent I have transferred all my data etc from the other 2 tablets to use this one only for everything.
AAA and, that’s it so far, I would up to now say get over the set up niggles then enjoy what seems to be a 1st class bit of kit for the money!
I would highly recommend this is fab, so good to watch TV and streaming channels, reading news and YouTube, very good sound lovely picture, easy to set up, the large screen is fantastic
Very slim and a good screen though it takes a while to load all my data etc but can’t ask for much more at the bargain price it is and now even cheaper than the 179 I paid. Now 159 which is super value.
You do need to get a case though just to protect it.
I bought this as a cheaper alternative to an ipad and it’s amazing. It does everything that i need it to including using it for school work. It has a very high quality screen and is perfect for watching things like netflix on. Love how big the screen is too. The battery life is great as i use my tablet every day and only charge it 1-2 times a week.
This X9 is a great all round tablet. Very fast, runs everything smoothly. Screen is great. The device is very light and good quality metal. Not sure if I prefer Magic UI over stock Android UI but i didnt find anything annoying so far.
When I compare this tablet to a Samsung A7 10 inch I bough about a year ago, same price range but much much better. Samsung is much slower, the UI much less responsive.
I bought this tab for my 12 year old son and he is loving it. The 11.5″ 2K Resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 6 speakers are the best combination for gaming and watching Youtube videos. The battery life is perfectly fine. And the processor is using Qualcomm snapdragon which is fast even though my son has downloaded quite a lot of apps without hang. This is the most value for money choice that ever bought.
I wanted a tablet for mainly YouTube and reading PDF’s so went for this although its far more than just that. Sound and video are very good and the screen is responsive. I bought an adapter to allow a standard USB to be used and a nice cover which has a built in stand and all in all pleased I bought this one.
I am using this product on a daily basis and so far so good I AM LOVING IT, together with my children when it’s being handled by them. Easy to use with bold screen like mini TV, and for the price with how it works, it’s unbelievable.
This tablet is a very good value for money. It is way better than other well-known competitors for a lot less money. I definitely stick to this brand in the future!
It has a very good procesor so is moving well. The battery is very good, and has a fast charging. The operation system is just like any other Android but the only minus it doesn’t have a sort and search button on the apps!
Brilliant tablet with a 12inch screen, after using makes my phone seem tiny. Sound is really good, especially for a tablet. I do like the e-book mode on this. Can read kindle books or Google books. With ebook mode of you get full colour for magazines and comics. Cameras are not so good but fine for whats app etc. One downside is the body of the tablet is very smooth with no real grip to it. So I would recommend buying a case. Games play well on this. Screen is responsive. Its running on Android 12. Very happy with purchase.
I really like the Honor Pad8. It’s a budget tablet that can do pretty much anything. The screen is great, the battery life is long and it’s very easy to use. i recommend to get a case with it
up there with the most expensive tablets
I can promise the best in this price. Working amazing. Never have any problems. I’ve tested around 20 different tablets in 100-250 it’s best choose for now. Great CPU, RAM, working without any issue compared to other ones random shut off or slow workings. 100% recommended
Having bought a Honor Magic lite 4G phone that totally blew me away(the best moby I’ve ever had). When I saw they did pads I had to get one. I already had a perfect working order IPad. But I couldn’t help myself!. She’s a real beauty. Sorry, it may not be the quality of an ipad but there is not a huge difference. Still does the same thing. And the sound is by far, better. Absolutely no doubt. Honestly,if you’re in the market for a tablet this is the one.A complete game changer. Was thinking of sone buying another IPad(costing a1000) but now won’t be.I have just saved an absolute fortune!.What’s the point?, when this does exactly what I want it to and in the same way. Definitely the best sound I’ve ever experienced from a computer. I used my old 4yr ipad constantly. Now, it’s tucked away in a drawer!. And this is my go to, the one I pick up. Writing this on it right now and loving it!.I am absolutely positive Honor will be big name we’ll hear a lot of in the future. Will be buying all Honor products in the future from now on. Please, you don’t have to think, this is the one. Just hit That Buy Now button. The only nit picking drawback is, the lack of slots for sd cards, memory cards even 3.5 headphones jack. So if you need this, you may have to look elsewhere. But as just a tablet, perfect!. If Honor sorts these discrepancies out, it would be perfect!. Absolutely perfect for kids, the one I’d buy for my child. And fantastic big screen for watching movies, you tubing, shopping, webrowsing etc.And the reviews about it being heavy?. I don’t notice it being heavier than my other tablets. You have been lucky to find it, because this is the one you’ve been searching for. I know you’ll love it just like me!.Start buying Honor, because with this brand, I don’t think you can go wrong. Enjoy your new tablet and Happy Browsing!. X
I wanted something to be able to read e-books. I did not have a personal tablet, and I could not justify the price for e-readers – they seems to be so expensive for what they are.
Instead I got myself one of these tablets. On standby, the battery life seems to easily last at least a week, so I don’t even bother to switch it off.
Has good brightness to read in direct sunlight. The battery will last you a whole day if you choose to watch movies or read. The user interface is clean and easy to use. The body feels sturdy and premium. Comes with a 22.5W charger.
Only potential negative for some – doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack. But that does not bother me as I have plenty of bluetooth headphones.
It does Everything I need it to do as a photographer.
Plenty of working space to edits pictures and so on.
Very easy to set up using your Google account and your cellphone.
The screen quality is very nice, and gives really acurate colours, which is important to me when previewing my pictures onsite. Very fast processor, descent working and storage.
Very comfortable to watch movies through and the sound is extraordinarily good. Massive battery installed, and just lasts and lasts.
Only downside is the weight really, but I need the exercise.
I highly recommend a case is fitted before taking it out of the home.
Bought this for my 5 year old. Screen is great and it copes with Roblox. Had a small hiccup when setting it up when the on-screen keyboard disappeared and we could only use voice typing, but we got through that by connecting a Bluetooth keyboard and then installing Gboard. Other than that we’ve been pleased with it.
Have been impressed with what this Honor Tablet offers for a budget price range!
It’s a good all rounder, does everything you need from a tablet. I don’t use a pen/keyboard so can’t comment on that side of things.
Will list what this tablet does good and a few minor shortfalls but can’t grumble too much at price of tablet to be honest…
Plus points +
+ Huge 12″ HD IPS display with reasonable brightness, Full Widevine Support for apps like Netflix. 60HZ which is decent enough.
+ Long lasting battery, battery lasts between 10/12 hours roughly depending what you are doing which is very good considering the price of tablet.
+ Also good for some basic gaming on the go/in your hands. Tested GTA games, COD Mobile just a few which play decent on this. More demanding games like Genshin Impact and PUBG do still play on low settings but cannot grumble too much considering the cost of this budget tablet.
+ Speakers deliver excellent sound for Movies, Gaming, Music and Video/Audio calls. Clear audio with some bass and no distortion at all! Would say the speakers are easily one of this tablets best features!
+ So far the UI/System software has been a decent experience. No complaints from my experience. Free security updates and software updates.
+ Full Google Store and all the essential apps needed, I have found only a few apps which state are not compatible with this device. Usually ones that require fully built in GPS which this tablet doesn’t have it uses Internet to find your location so if you don’t have internet then no access to finding your location/maps.
+ Performance mode, which maximises RAM and CPU for multitasking and gaming. Always activate this for best experience, battery drains a little quicker but worth it. Leave off if not multitasking/gaming for more battery life.
Negative Points – (not many thankfully)
– Sometimes I have found the gyro/auto screen rotation to be wonky at times, I have tried disabling the auto rotate button to see if it would stop being so sensitive but didn’t seem to change the occasional issue when it came to this. Maybe could be sorted in a software update, just seems very sensitive and occasionally struggles to understand how you are holding tablet in your hands or what way it is placed.
– I don’t feel the fast charging with the tablet is that fast in my opinion, maybe I am too used to ultra charging with my mobile but the tablet will take time to fully charge and I recommend when it needs charged try to do it overnight/when not in use as it can take a good few hours at least and if you are using tablet it can be slower. As said above tho in positives when battery is fully charged it at least lasts most of the day depending on usage thankfully.
– Some apps aren’t supported, those that require built in GPS for example as the tablet does not have built in GPS. It uses the internet to find your precise location. Tablet would need to be constantly connected to internet to find your location, if disconnected it will be unable to determine location.
– No 120HZ display with Honor 8, would have made everything buttery smooth. 60HZ does a reasonable job for price of tablet but would be nice to see a faster display in next Honor tablet!
– RAM is limited on Honor 8 so limits how much multitasking smoothly can be done, you have to activate Performance mode to get the most out of limited RAM/CPU/GPU built in which reduces battery life but I highly recommend doing this for gaming in particular and multitasking.
Final Summary –
Overall one of the BEST budget tablets currently on the market, does for me everything you would want and need from a budget tablet and then some more!
It delivers on almost every aspect you would expect for a tablet of this price range, just don’t expect all the bells and whistles that the more expensive tablets have on the market and you will be very happy with the Honor 8 Tablet!
I think Honor have excelled with this tablet, excellent in particular for movies/
YouTube, music and mobile gaming (apart from demanding mobile games like Genshin Impact and PUBG which must be played on lowest settings only but you can still play them on this tablet) most of the games I tested worked well overall I am delighted to say!
Cameras/Mics are decent for basic video/audio calling and some basic snaps but don’t expect too much as cameras are really for more basic use, use your phone/digital camera for those high quality photos instead as this will take okay photos at best.
The speakers are top notch and easily one of the tablets strongest points here!
So overall even with just a few minor negatives listed above I have to award the Honor 8 5 stars!
Because of the superb price and everything the tablet offers here, I could have taken one star off with a few of the negatives but that wouldn’t be fair at all really for one of the best budget tablets currently on the market. If you can accept the few limitations for the price point I have mentioned above then in my opinion you will LOVE this tablet and get much from it in my opinion!Well done Honor, please keep up the great work and bring more fantastic tablets/phones to the market in future please!
I got it for 200, but it may be worth the almost 300 it launched for. I love Apple’s products but they have nothing large like this at a sensible price.
If you’re looking for a large tablet at a low price it’s hard to beat this value.
This large size allows you to set it in the kitchen to watch a video for a recipe or get cozy with your SO; it has excellent clear loud sound if you want to use it for music; the screen is not amazing but legible enough to read comics and PDFs with no trouble.
On the bad side Android has few tablet-adapted apps and it’s not powerful enough for a good experience in demanding 3D games. This is hardly a problem for my use case which revolves around playing content (video, music books, manga), but Fortnite players should stay clear.
We wanted a cheapish large tablet just to stream TV and watch movies in our campervan. It’s perfect for that and probably so much more.
We are not gamers and do not use any other type of power hungry applications so can’t comment on if it would be any good for that kind of thing.
The tablet itself is very well made, the screen is clear and crisp, the sound quality is amazing for what it is and the Honor 8 runs quickly and smoothly using on demand TV app’s, internet browser, google maps etc.,
For what we want it for, it is perfect. For us it would have been a waste of money spending probably more than double the 199 price on something of a similar size and not much better spec. An absolute bargain.
I don’t write reviews reguarly, but I have received this item today and I am gobsmaked at just how well built it is, the screen is as good as an Ipad and it is very fast without the lag I am used to on other android devices. I bought to use as a console device for my home automation, but having set it up, it’s way too good for that (although I’ll probably still use it for that) this I am embarressed to say is good enough to be my primary tablet. If I was choosing a primary tablet, I would probably be put off by it being too cheap to be worthy of carrying around, but if you are thinking the same thing I recommend you take a punt!….
Always had Samsung tablets before but I wanted to try a larger size without breaking the bank. Read a few reviews and took the plunge on this at 199 for a 12′ tablet. So far so great. Transferred all my old data in seconds, was charged to 70% outta the box, screen is great and quality is superb. A tad awkward to hold and quite heavy but that is to be expected. Great idea to be able to split screen for 2 apps to run at same time. Really impressed. I only surf net, domy banking etc and watch movies so all good. Would have liked a sd card slot but at 200 quid, c’mon! Well impressed
I have an iPad together with Windows devices and I wanted to try an android tablet. I looked at the Samsung tab tablet but couldn’t justify 1000+ . I saw this tablet and the reviews were highly complimentary. As the tablet was on offer also with the tablet screen cover and a protective cover it was too good to miss. This device I have to say is outstanding not only in its build quality but it has excellent sound quality. I would put it up there with an iPad in so many ways. There is an Honour app built in that allows you to check out the device and is impressive in other ways too. For half the price of the iPad it’s worth the purchase. I very much recommend this item. It is now over a year since I purchased this tablet and I have got to say that it is superb. I just cannot find any faults with this device. If It could be bought with Apples iOS system it would put Apple out of business. I love Apple but their pricing is way too high now.
