Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersIt’s a good printer (and scanner) once you get it set up (though I found I had to use the “best ” setting for important documents), but set-up is an absolute nightmare. I set it up using my smart phone (as recommended by HP) which took long enough, then I found that if I wanted to use it as a scanner I had to go online with my PC anyway. Using “Easy”-Start Set-Up (again as recommend by HP) took five or six attempts; usually it couldn’t find my printer so I had to put the details in manually, a couple of times it couldn’t find my account (required) and when finally I got a window that I could use for scanning (and other things) I found that unless I pinned it to my dashboard, it disappeared when I closed it and I had to go through the whole set-up process again. Defintely NOT “plug and play”! Never had these problems with my old HP Envy – they are going backwards.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI am writing this as i feel others need to be made aware of the reality of signing up to instant ink. My story –
Firstly the printer is great, although in saying that it is my fourth of this model. The first printer I bought I signed for instant ink immediately. A big mistake, the ink didn’t work properly for set up and because it was registered with instant ink a bought cartridge would not work ( although I shouldn’t have had to spend money on ink). The shop exchanged for another one (same). The printer would not connect properly and had to be returned. The third printer connected but never sure if the connection would work or not. However the photographs’ were of great quality for a reasonably priced printer. I gave up got another printer which did connect but the quality of print and of the actual printer was pathetic. I decided to get another one of the original, envy inspire 7200 and this time from amazon as i was concerned there was a bad batch in the other shop, I have not been disappointed, it is working brilliantly. Now I can assure you the person setting up the printer for me each time is well experienced in this procedure so no problem on our end. After all of this I signed up for instant ink. Very prompt service that is on sending it out when i signed up. But on enquiry as to when it would arrive it was 10-14 business days. I couldn’t believe it. In effect that is at least 2 weeks without the use of the printer because the included cartridges are really only for set up. I thought I would have the choice to go and buy ink but not the case, they cannot override the system after i have signed up, it would be a case of cancelling it and go through the procedure which would take a great deal of time. Soooo disappointed when i need the printer for a project not to mention the other problems i had. Please be aware of this if like me you really need the printer within a time scale. HP printers should be sold making the buyer aware of the time delay in using it. As always the service from Amazon is 5 stars.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAfter using numerous printers over the years, some good, some awful, this model from HP is currently the best so far for me. Set up is good, although this one prefers to be left in standby when not in use, which is no real bother. Build quality is excellent & the paper is hidden away and laying flat inside the tray which is a good thing as it’s a horizontal feed system. The print quality is superb with very sharp text and vibrant images. Photos are terrific when printed on this machine. The HP Instant Ink is a handy subscription as well. One of my old printers was a Kodak, which was beyond rubbish. Compared against this printer, it’s night and day.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our Users— The 3-months free ink offer is only until 30 april 23, after which you get 1-month free plus the 6-month that comes with the printer. My referral code 1cqb2r

You need to use the above referral code to get the extra one month.

I had read reviews on different forums on what is the best HP printer for photos. Although I do not print photos, I subscribe to printer inks on my previous HP printer. So I reckoned if my cost per page is the same, why not invest in a good printer. I have kids and with photo paper being so cheap, its always good to print these photos to keep on desks.

Secondly some of the cheap HP printers do not accept high GSM/thicker paper, the cheaper photo paper I have noticed are higher GSM/thicker. And anyway I like the option to run both low GSM and high GSM paper in my printer so I can buy whatever photo paper is cheapest

I was very hesitant before buying this printer- there were mixed reviews and the price was too good to be true with free ink for 6 months. But I went ahead for 2 reasons, first is free inks and second is that this printer was the recommended HP printer for good quality photos. Compared to my earlier HP printer, my wife commented the photos looked great on this printer.

      Set up of printer-
set up was super easy with my phone took me no longer than 10 min. We as a family use Linux, iPhone, mac and windows computers and I could easily set up the printer on all operating systems. For linux we needed to download hp drivers.

      Printer ink
Printer comes with ink one black and white and one colour. I installed them and have to say they get used to pretty quickly. They cost around 30/34 colour/black.

      Free ink hp +
Subscribed for free 6 months ink I took the 700 pages plan not because I need it but because it’s free anyway 😀 had a code which gave me an extra 3 months free so now I have 9 months of ink. You can use my code above for an extra 1-3 months or free ink for you 🙂 Although initially did not like the idea of subscription when I need to pay I will downgrade to 99 p or 2.99 plan depending on usage. I only normally need it for the Amazon return, and the then and now page I need to print for something else. Printing quality is great compared to other printers including the photo quality.

I would say that the hp plan is probably cheaper as the cheaper plan would be 12 a year for 10 pages a month that can roll over for up to 3 months, and the second one up is 2.99 a month with 50 pages a month that can roll over for 3 months. 36 a year ink isnt bad I think.

Bear in mind that they send ink in 7 to 10 business days , so I used the free ink and subscribed straight away until I get the new ink. You have 7 days to subscribe to hp instank ink so you can wait a few days to make sure you use your ink as subscription starts on day to subscribe despite hp sending you the ink after 10 days.

      Hp app
Super easy to use, shows cartridge left, subscription, you can print etc. Really like it.

      Size of printer
The only thing I wish was that it was slightly smaller – it’s not the biggest printer but I believe a few cm larger than the average printer due to the print tray at the bottom that does not close. The only reason I downgraded a star.

      Colour and sound –

It lights up and makes a sound/ noise when it prints- some reviews complained about it I really like it 🙂 but then again the printer is not in my bedroom.

Hope you like this printer- as much as I do and this review was helpful 🙂

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersSo, my last HP all in one printer coughed, spluttered and expired. HP seem to make good ones in my experience, so after looking around at their offerings and other makes, I chose this one. It was delivered promptly by Amazon and installation was a breeze. The footprint (if space is at a premium) is good, there’s no back tray to feed paper from, it’s a front loader, which is good. It’s somewhat taller than my previous one though. But as an office item, it looks good and has a touch screen, so you can work it with or without using your computer. It’ll also print remotely from other devices you may use, such as your ‘phone.

Printing is pretty quiet and quick and the results are fine. It uses a two cartridge system, one black, the other containing the usual other colours. My last one took four individual cartridges.

So, whilst mentioning cartridges, it’s worth saying that most home printers are relatively cheap and the suppliers endeavour to make money on ink supplies and HP are no different there. You can nearly spend as much as the printer itself replenishing the cartridges! HP have sought to soften the blow by offering “HP Instant Ink”. A service that, if you sign up to it, as I understand it monitors your ink usage and sends you ink cartridges automatically as you need. There’s an initial free period when you buy a printer after which you pay. But it’s optional, so you can decide whether you want to go down that route. I’d also check the conditions. I’m no expert!

So, to summarise, I’m happy with it.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersUnlike others I found this easy to set up. I did already have the app which may help.
Got the six months hp ink automatically and added a code in so I have several months free . This code expires at the end of April
x9gp1t this will give some extra free months for both the person using it and me.

I will say I was surprised by the size so check the measurements if you have a small space.
Printing is good for a home printer.
Has a separate tray for photo paper which the kids will have fun with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good printe

Works well; prints well; sadly no pop out paper holder which my previous HP envy printer had which is a bit of a back step. For me the HP instant ink trial is very useful, its available to existing users and has plenty of pages included. However it took the full 7-8 days to get the first instant inks cartridges, a bit too long as Im quite a heavy user.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersIn spite of several comments to the contrary, this printer was easy to set up using the HP Smart App. I had the App already installed as I was simply replacing a previous HP printer. This may have made it easier. My ‘Instant Ink’ subscription was transferred without any difficulty. A few reviewers have refused to accept some of the HP conditions and this is understandable as I am of a like mind in this respect but this seems to be the way that HP operate and I have to say that I have had no trouble with the instant ink subscription.. The printer produces good quality prints and is not overly noisy particularly in ‘quiet mode’. The small screen on the front of the printer gives access to most of the functions without resorting to the App and switches off after a period of inactivity. There is a USB port for direct connection to a PC although the instructions say that this should not be used during the setup process. It is slightly more bulky than my previous printer and measures 46w x 38d x 20h cm which includes the paper tray. The measurements given to nearly all printers on the Amazon Website are incorrect.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersUpdate after a few months of use:
Still find the printer to be good value and easy to use. A bit disappointed that the maximum size for photo printing is 5×7, but the quality is good at that size and I’m not sure it would be if the photos were any larger. Printing and copying is quite instinctive but it took me a bit of research to find out how to scan to a MacBook – not sure my method is the best one, but it worked!
Referral code cssvn6 will give you an extra 3 months of instant ink added to the 6 months given by HP. Valid until 30 April 2023, when it will change to just one extra month. The trial months allow up to 700 pages of printing per month, which is excellent value. Also easy to change usage levels or cancel before the trial period ends.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersEasy to set-up and quality very good. The remote printing function has been useful for printing from mobile.

6 month Instant Ink subscription included is a bonus. You can also get an additional 3 months by using this code jz84fn which is valid until 31st Jan 23. (remember to add this code before confirming your subscription to get 9 months instead of 6)

      UPDATE

So I have had this printer for just over a month now and I have been very impressed.

When I needed new Ink, it arrived next day via the instant ink subscription which seems to be very good value so far.

The quality of the printing has been excellent and the automatic double-sided printing has been of great benefit for the children when doing school work.

Very happy with the printer and also the instant ink subscription.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our Usersbought to replace an older Epson which i had repeated nozzle blockages and disappointing prints. My first impression was that this is an attractive looking printer although a bit bigger on my workspace the the Epson. Very happy with prints (paper and photo). A4 front loading paper tray for paper and photo paper larger than 7 x 5 and a photo tray (front loading) for 7 x 5 and smaller. I had some 7 x 5 which wouldn’t fit but when i measured the paper it was 7″ and 1/8th which was too wide. Double sided printing and from the phone/tablet app its easy to print messages on the back of photos (all automated in printer) as well as using some templates if preferred.
MAC users please be aware that you may need to set Safari as your default browser whilst setting up as I got stuck in the set up process (default browser was Chrome) when it was trying to register my HP account.
Also be aware that the ink in the cartridges supplied is much lower volume than the retail units (apparently the HP+ cartridges are filled more for less frequent replacement). I found this out when after print a load of photos (23 – mix of A4 and 6×4) we had low ink alarms so couldnt print my daughters homework in colour. HP state their ink when issued should arrive within 10 business days so if you print a lot all the time you could be caught short now and then I guess. Was a little concerned about the required of HP+ to leave the printer on but as you can see from the photo it does go into a power saving hibernation mode.
You can use the code 6v6rbz when signing up for an extra month (I got 7 months free ink)
      Very pleased with my purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great printer -read if buying for a MAC (plus extra month with code 6v6rbz that works!)

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersIt’s a decent printer. I bought this to replace a cheaper model that lasted around 5+ years. This one feels a lot sturdier and the print quality is notably better also. I opted for instant ink this time just to try it out (1st 6 months free anyway), and will mostly opt for the cheapest subscription when the trial runs out.
My only gripe is that I get constant messages from HP about my printer being offline and how this would invalidate my instant ink subscription. To be clear, this is not the fault of HP, they’re just letting me know that my printer was offline and if it remains so, it would be a problem for the subscription plan. However, the reason my printer is regularly offline is because BT is a crap broadband provider and constant drops service. So, if like me, you have an awful broadband company, don’t bother with instant ink, you will end up with multiple emails from HP every week. Otherwise, all else is good.

Golden Review Award: 64 From Our UsersI spent literally hours looking at reviews for a new printer. Every printer I considered had at least one scathing review which put me off. In the end i opted for the ENVY Inspire 7220 as it wasn’t quite so badly reviewed as some others.
Honestly it has been great so far. Plugged it in, followed the on screen prompts, installed the HP Smart App on my phone. The App and the printer went to work, asking for my Wifi details, and it connected with no problem, but did take several minutes, but so what right!
I will just let you know you have to install the same HP Smart App onto any other device you will want to print from, phone, PC, laptop etc…but just follow the prompts to ‘Add a printer’ again, simple enough. I do have a fair understanding of technology, but equally I’m not a computer engineer either, and I found it very easy to set up.
Print quality is fab, also used the scan to PC option for my son’s course work, again this was effortless.
Haven’t used the photocopier as yet, but if it scans and prints, I have no reason to think photocopying will be an issue.

I have given the Tech Support four stars, that might not be very accurate as I haven’t needed to use it, but I have signed up for HP Instant Ink, which again was effortless, and seems on the face of it to be a good idea, fingers crossed, and you get 6 months of free ink anyway, so why not!

So if you’re like me and can’t decide on a printer due to very bad reviews, I can vouch for this printer.
