I wasn’t expecting a lot at the price I paid but I am very pleasantly surprised by this watch. I brought it on holiday instead of my more expensive watches. It wouldn’t have been the end of the world if it broke or got lost at this price. It’s a big watch, nice and heavy but I think it looks great on my average 7.5″ wrist.
It’s pretty robust too. I’ve worn it in the gym, in the sea and the pool no issues after about three months wear. I highly recommend this to anyone that likes watches. The visible movement is a nice touch and I’ve grown to like all the over the top engraved branding.
Absolutely stunning looking, quality watch, and at a very reasonable price. Real value for the money. Anyone buying one these will definitely NOT be disappointed. Has the look and feel of a watch 10, 20 times, or even higher, the price!
Just got this watch today so not had chance to wear it yet, I had to take out 2 links and adjust the micro adjust by 1 but this was easy enough, one thing I will say and this just may be me being unlucky but when you view this watch on Amazon it shows you the yellow invicta on the movement and the one I received is just plain(No yellow)but it seems to be working fine, good packaging and decent price on prime day
A fantastic value watch if you like a watch on the larger side. It’s got one of the most secure clasps I have ever encountered on a watch. The only trouble is the flourescent markings on the dial soon wear off. Otherwise a very good watch indeed for the money and should last a long time. I really like it and enjoy wearing it. A compliment magnet.
This watch is not a rolex. This is the best compliment I can give to this make. Invicta are renowned for the most outlandish over overabundance watch ever. Sometimes though they. hit it just right. Believe me when I say there are very premium watches that are basically the same calibre but massively over priced because the marketing. I love this brand. Always have always will.
Very quick delivery, item was well packed, the watch works as I would expect! Did have to get the strap altered, one does wonder if they are supplied for guerillas!
I love this watch. The build quality is superb for the price you pay (I got it for 90).
It’s a big ol’ girl, so make sure your wrists can take it.
I love it and will be getting variations of the same watch.
Bought as a Christmas present for myself, watch arrived today. First impressions are good. Can’t wear it yet as the metal bracelet is far too big and not easy to adjust at home. I’m not a fan of metal straps/bracelets in general, find them uncomfortable to wear. I will probably wait and replace the strap with something more to my personal liking. Either a quality leather sport strap or a ballistic nylon two piece with velcro fastening. OK, been wearing the watch occasionally for a few months now (not my everyday watch) One thing that is a major irritation to me, is the bezel rotates anti clockwise. Never had a diver’s style watch that does this before. Very awkward and annoying, is this normal ? For around 125 it’s not a bad watch. My next purchase will be a Tissot “Seastar” or a Seiko. Update after 8 months* Been wearing this watch since the start of the year. Keeps good time. I have found that unless you use it for long periods, then it won’t store enough energy to last through the night and stops. I did also buy my Tissot Seastar, which at five times the price beats the Invicta every time and does not run out of power.
After purchasing an Invicta Pro Diver watch for my nephew, I felt compelled to get a Grand Diver myself. I watched the price for a considerable time and bought with an amazing discount at the end of the summer 2022. I followed some advice before diving, which was to grease with silicone the thread on the crown.
For diving I use a long nato strap which will allow use over the top of a wet suit.
I’ve used this Yellow Grand Diver on 6 dives, the deepest being 24 metres.
I have found it comfortable to wear and easy to read in and out of water.
This is a stand out watch, which others notice and comment upon.
I am very happy with my purchase, which for me had a fantastic discount.
Looks fantastic on your wrist and gives the impression of a really expensive watch. Thank you for such a good deal as I have also now ordered it in blue.
Excellent watch with many features that you would only find on much more expensive watches. Has a hacking movement so you can wind it as well it charging up automatically, you can also see the movement through the clear rear window, movement is quality from Seiko as they are the parent company. Its already big and solid but also the first links on the strap are solid adding to the quality feel. They didn’t just copy a Rolex but went their own way, bezel is scolloped like an Omega not coin edge, inscribed Invicta down one side and Grand Diver other side, raised diver helmet logo on both first links of strap, stylish hands and logos on the face, cyclops over date. They shaped the strap carriers down so that even though its a large watch and I don’t have big wrists it shapes round beautifully. Gets lots of comments. My sons and I are all into horology and we all have an Invicta as they are great quality for little money.
This watch is one of the unknown bargains in the watch world, beautifully made from premium quality components and worth every penny, plus Amazon was cheaper than any other Invicta supplier.
This is a heavy and large watch – which is exactly what I wanted. The movement is the same as you get in Invicta’s Pro Diver range – it’s a branded TMI NH-35a and keeps time well. The bezel is a bit stiff but turns OK (unlike some Invivta watches I own where the bezel does not turn at all).
The only think I am not fond of is the detailing on the sides of the case – ‘Invicta’ on one and ‘Grand Diver’ on the other. These do nothing for the look of the watch and I’d rather they weren’t there.
That said, I’m generally very happy with the watch – especially considering I bought it on sale. For the price paid it was a bargain. At normal amazon price, it is still good value for money.
It’s big and bold, but well made and accurate for a mechanical watch thanks to a Seiko movement. Striking and gorgeous if that’s your thing. Love it.
One of my best looking watches very easy to read, it is a large watch
eally like this invicta brand, good watches at great prices, bought this one to add to my growing collection, its a heavy watch ,feels really sturdy, its big and brash, but looks great, really am impressed with this watch
Quality at a budget if you want a big chunky watch look no further
This timepiece pays homage to a very expensive watch mentioning no names
This watch is very well made and looks absolutely superb. I think it is as good as a watch priced at 4 times the price! I am really pleased with it. Build quality is great, timekeeping is great, design is great.
A well finished accurate, timepiece, solidly made, compared well with much more expensive watches.
85 for an automatic watch thats accurate feels very solid and very comfortable on the wrist. Its a big watch but on my wrist with two links removed it sits nice and does not feel uncomfortable at all, the braclet is solid with a good clasp and solid end links the watch itself has a very positive click rotating bezel with no play, screw down crown is nice and smooth also. The Lume is OK but doesnt last that long being about the only real negative atm, on the wrist the engravings on the case (i am not a fan of them) they almost become invisible and it does not look too tacky by any means. Overall a very solid and well built watch that is keeping superb time and at the current price for the blue model its a steal and the pictures on amazon do not really do it justice. I like my divers watches and own Seiko/Tag/Omega/Citizen and tbh i did not think i would be keeping the Invicta but its going nowhere except on my wrist..check one out and if you ignore the watch snobs i am sure you will be very pleased you did.
In summery yes its big but its comfortable to wear and its solid. (not tested the water resistance and like most it will not be used for diving, i just like this style of watch).
I researched this watch for my Christmas treat to myself after I watched a lot of Invicta videos on the Grand Diver range. I’ve never ever considered an automatic watch or the Invicta brand before but the stand out looks of this model caught my eye. Upon receiving and wearing this Grand Diver I was not disappointed with this timepiece, I just love the yellow coloured face dial and the smooth movement of the second hand, it’s a chunky design which suits a real divers watch look and I also purchased when it was at a super low price!
The ‘Invicta’ and ‘Grand Diver’ side case inscriptions plus the divers helmet branding on the face and stainless steel watch band makes this a stand out piece of timekeeping beauty, the price was a third cheaper than some of the bigger branded automatics so it wasn’t too much of a hit to the wallet. The large diameter and height doesn’t look out of place on my slim 7″ sized wrist. Suprisingly it’s very comfortable to wear and doesn’t feel too heavy even after a long day of use.
This divers watch is presented in a nice large yellow ripple shell padded case with warranty and instructions and it keeps an acceptable good time, the one I received gains a few seconds a day but I knew that automatics can either lose or gain time. If you don’t wear the watch for more than two days then it will stop, so you do have to wind it a good 25 to 30 times with the crown unscrewed just to make it run for another day. I will never really use this watch for diving to three hundred metres, but for every day use it’s a real ‘looker’ and I just love wearing it.
I have a nice collection of watches including Oris, Seiko, Marathon to name a few. I purchased this Invicta as I wanted another yellow face diver.
Having seen some negative reviews of the brand I was in two minds and if disappointed at least I could have returned to Amazon.
However I have been pleasantly surprised by the look, feel, weight and accuracy of the watch. At probably a third of the price or more than my Seiko divers I would recommend this as a lovely piece of wrist eye candy at little more than the price of a high street daily wearer.
I’ll certainly look at the brand again if amazon bargains come up.
What a fantastic watch. The only slight problem is that the lime on the hands doesn’t last as good was the indices but for the price point who cares ?
Love this watch, one of my better buys. Chunky, solid watch, whats not to like
I have been looking for one of these automatic watches with a yellow dial for awhile and with the price of this one I had to give it a go. The quality is superb and as someone who has a large wrist it fits very comfortably. Highly recommend
Invicta watches appear to be one of those ‘Marmite’ watch brands, some love them some hate them. They are big, bold & sometimes brash. This Grand Diver is without a doubt big and bold but not brash. This is my 1st Invicta watch and was bought during the black Friday sale, so I really did get a lot of watch for not much dosh. 80 bought me a watch containing more metal than a double decker bus and only slightly lighter. It has a Seiko automatic movement (powered by wrist motion – stop smirking). The design is a fairly standard metal divers watch made popular by the likes of Rolex etc. The green bezel is nice and clear to read but can be difficult to move as the scalloped edges are a bit slippery, especially when wet. The watch has a 300m WR which will cover all of the average Invicta wearers needs. The crown is a screw down design to keep the watch watertight. The crowns thread did feel a bit rough when opening and closing so suggest you take it easy when adjusting the time/date in case the thread gets damaged. The date window has ‘cyclops’ lens above to magnify the date, great for us older folks. The metal bracelet is solid and its easy to remove links if you need too, with the correct tools of course. The clasp has 4 micro adjustments and is milled too. The time keeping so far has been spot on, not losing 1 second in 3 days which is impressive for an automatic, especially at this price point. All in all this is a great watch for the money and if you break it somehow its pretty cheap to replace.
Solid watch, big and showy and American I love it. All steel and a good weight, clear face and luminous hands and indexes. The Seiko NH35a movement is very accurate, as good or better than my Swiss ones.
Six days from America, good delivery and easy to track with an app like AfterShip.
Invicta are not everyone’s thing but I’m very happy with this one and you save quite a bit ordering from America.
This watch is the 5 one I own from this brand and it is very good don’t get put off about some reviews it’s big bold very good time keeping first class
I bought the invicta Grand Diver 3044 cobra yellow watch to see if I would like the look of the yellow face prior to my dream purchase of a Brietling super ocean 44.
What brilliant value for money, its got the looks, quality and accuracy of a much more expensive watch. Now I’m in a dilema, the Invicta is slightly larger at 47mm and I like the size, weight and feel of it but when I bought the Brietling (which is absolutely stunning) it felt sort of small and lightweight. Don’t get me wrong I’ll definitely get used to it.
What I’m trying to say in a round about way is that the Invicta is a superb watch and really lives up to its name
This the Third Grand Diver i have purchased, they are nice and chunky, well made, keep perfect time and look great buy with confidence you will not be disappointed.
10/10
Nice BIG watch, but the hands are a bit difficult to see on the yellow face, as they’re fairly “delicate”. The “cyclops” isn’t easy to read either to be honest. I should really have gone for the black version, but got this on a deal. It is however reasonably accurate – I’ve had it go a couple of days where it has remained “spot on”, but as I rotate the watches in my modest collection and don’t have an auto-winder, I accept that. Rated as Water Proof to 1000 Feet – well, it is waterproof alright, and the lock-down crown is extremely positive. The deepest I normally go to is a hotel swimming pool at @ 9 Feet, so this watch will do me just fine 🙂
On line people slate Invicta and some are a bit bright and gaudy but I loved the yellow dial when I saw this one. So I took a chance a brought it.
I’m so pleased I did it’s automatic keeps good time. Looks good in my opinion
Quick set date adjust and at it’s price point it’s a fabulous purchase… sure there are many better watches out there but for this money excellent value.
Bought with some Christmas money to replace a Citizen Eco-Drive solar powered watch that I’ve had for about 15 years, but had finally given up the ghost (who knew that these actually have a capacitor in them which eventually wears out. Defeats the Eco object really!)
In view of this I determined I really wanted a fully mechanical Automatic watch. Looked at loads of reviews of watches both on Amazon and lots of other websites. Seiko kept coming up as highly recommend and this Invictor Grand Diver uses one of their best movements.
I like Diver style watches and this has the classic Rolex look but without the price tag! If you are a ‘watch snob’ then you probably won’t be interested but you’ll be missing out, the quality and accuracy for a watch of this price is outstanding! It gains no more than about 3.5 minutes a month when worn every day, better (according to some ‘watch buff’ reviews), than a Rolex. I have an desk job so not much movement during the day, but I do walk a fair bit and am quite active outside of ‘office hours’ and it’s never varied in the 5 months I’ve had it.
I particularly like the ‘Cyclops’ date magnifier as I’ve always had problems making out the dates on watches even with my glasses on, particularly when you just glance at them. This is not a problem any longer and I can easily tell the date with just a quick look. I also like the fact that it has a ‘hacking’ movement, which means the second-hand can be stopped to aid synchronisation when setting the time. Many automatic watches do not seem to offer this feature, even some costing many times more than this one.
The glass seems to have shrugged of scratches up till now and I wear it all the time, even when spannering on my motorcycles.
Ok, now the potential ‘downsides’, they aren’t for me but these are things that the potential buyer ought to be aware of. As other reviews have said, it’s a BIG HEAVY watch. I have 7.25 inch wrists, so not huge by any means, and it still sits well and doesn’t look stupidly big, which was something I was a little concerned about. The edges of the case curve nicely to ‘wrap’ around the wrist, which helps to minimise the scale overall. The watch face itself is exactly what I was hoping for, I wanted a simple, clear design and a size which allowed you to see the time clearly at a glance without tiny minute marks and clutter from useless small dials, perfect. More of a surprise was the weight, it is HEAVY, you wouldn’t want to drop this on your bare foot! Now I personally got used to this fairly quickly and after a couple of weeks didn’t really pay much attention to it during normal use. I am still reminded of it’s weight when I first pick it up each morning though, but I kinda like the sense of wearing something that feels like it could shrug off a nuclear blast! However, if that’s not you, then you may struggle with this aspect more than anything. The depth of the case is probably the other thing I was surprised about and is something I notice more than the overall size. It is thick and stands quite a way off the wrist as a result and can catch in things if you’re trying to work in confined spaces like on a car or motorcycle. Personally, I just take it off if I know that’s going to be the case, but again something to bear in mind.
In conclusion, if you are not a ‘watch snob’, like the style and thought of a big, chunky, extremely well made and accurate timepiece, then do not hesitate and just buy it. It looks even better ‘in the flesh’ than it does in the pictures and you are very unlikely to be disappointed.
I do not normally write reviews BUT I just feel that I needed to with this watch.
It is even better than I had hoped for. This is a proper quality watch that looks, feels and performs as well as you could wish for. It only took 3 days to get from Amazon USA to London Heathrow and a couple of days from there to my front door.
The watch is as the picture shows and is perfect in every way. You can buy with confidence.
Heard alot about these watches good and bad. So I thought find out for myself, and I wasn’t disappointed. Absolute excellent value for money, we’ll made, looks like it costs a lot more than it did. A really good value for money watch. If you are going in the water with this watch just make sure the crown is always screwed in tightly and you won have any problems.
What a fabulous watch.. This is my first invicta watch and the yellow dial is a welcome addition to my collection.. I marvelled at this watch when I first got it and loved the high quality casing , dial and well regarded Seiko NH35 movement ..
The movement has manual wind and hacking and just feels well put together . Once I wore the watch on my 8 inch wrist , It got some serious attention ! .. Overall very happy with the watch so far.. Keep up the excellent work Invicta..
I first gave this watch a middling review but as I have lived with it then it has grown on me. It is a very large, solid and heavy watch that I planned to use for tough jobs (working with machines, in the garden and so on.). But the more I wear it then the more I appreciate the build and styling. I now conclude this is a very good watch and recommend but only if you have a big wrist and can carry such a big watch
I collect watches. I’m a geek. I’m not going to comment on the look of this watch because you can see for yourself quite clearly whether or not you like it. I hate saying it, but I think it’s relevant; I have some pretty high-end watches. However, I collect watches based on all sorts of criteria including looks, movement, function, etc.
One thing that is astonishing on this watch is its accuracy. I gave it three hours on my watch winder to start with and after 24 hours wear it was 6 minutes fast! Confused, I reset it back to the current time and watched it over the next 7 days. Every single day after that weird initial one was roughly +4 seconds! Not only that, but I’ve tested it in a swimming pool (admittedly not the Mariana Trench) and completely waterproof as advertised.
I totally respect Invicta for their ability to bring a watch like this to market. I also accept that whilst their Pro Divers are a clear homage to a Rolex Submariner, the Grand Divers are pretty unique and have their own style, etc.
I have one issue with this watch, which is that I think the deep sea diver icon looks like a web cam and it’s not befitting of the rest of the watch’s exceptional qualities. The size isn’t an issue, but be aware that it’s big and it’s heavy.
Overall, this watch is fantastic for the money and I respect Invictas mantra “supremely made watches for modest sums”. The pro diver range doesn’t share the same qualities as this watch (but they’re typically half the price and are still great watches), but this fella really has won me over. I can’t stop wearing it, so my old watch rotation system is in ruins!
I needed a cheap watch for work it had to be an automatic as I’m fed up with changing batteries every year or two so I did my usual looking on the net and came across this Invicta Grand diver. I am a fan of dive watches and loved the yellow dial. The watch turned up a week early and I was surprised at just how good the watch looks and feels ! This watch is far too good to wear to work as I’m a Carpenter so it could get scratched which would be sacrilege!
I have had this watch for several months now and got it when it was the lowest price it has been on Amazon. Prices on Invictas do fluctuate drastically but I would have still been happy with it at double the price I paid. Solid feel, good looking and not missed a beat. I wear it most days and am very happy with it and it does draw comments. If I break it or lose it I would buy this same model again.
Love this watch. It looks superb,Have 8 other Invicta watches and have never been disappointed with any of them. They are all automatics with Seiko movements, keep excellent time and look much more expensive than the price paid for them. I only buy automatic watches or solar powered watches as I am not prepared to continually pay ludicrous charges asked by the original watch manufacturers to change the batteries and maintain the integrity of the waterproof seals. You can get batteries replaced by jewellers at a sensible price but they do not guarantee the seals will be watertight. Just wish Invicta would offer solar powered models as well as their automatic range.
Absolute Bargin for the 63 plus 9 shipping from America. It’s my second Grand Diver and with its solid bracelet, solid end links and machined clasp it’s worth far far more. Solid and heavy with a Sekio movement that’s hackable and hand winding this watch would be worth it for 150 or even 200. I had my first one over a year ago with no problems and it still looks brand new. I always wanted one with a yellow dial for that summery look, and now I’ve got it at a great price.
So my Grand Diver arrived today – 6 days earlier than expected and it has way exceeded my expectations. I have two other Invicta automatics but this is my first Grand – and grand it is in every way. This really looks like a watch 10 times it’s value. The automatic movement seen through the back is simply beautiful. Make no mistake thIs is a big chunky watch. If you have a regular sized Invicta or similar it’s a big jump. If you have skinny wrists or forearms this is not going to look right on you. As well as a larger face it’s also considerably thicker and heavier than standard. I took two links out as always and it sits comfortably on my wrist. The yellow face looks fantastic and everything about the watch says precision and quality. Prices go up and down on Invicta watches on amazon – this cost a mere 105 – an absolute steal. If you’re considering this watch – rest assured you will not be disappointed. I’d happily pay double
Edit: the only thing that annoys me with Invicta is their inconsistent pricing – I think my watch was a bargain at 105 but it’s a real pain to see it has dropped to a little over 60 the day it arrives – well done the lucky few who snapped them up at that price!
I have been a fan of Invicta Watches for many years now having purchased their 8926OB (Homage to the Submariner) version some 7 or so years ago from Amazon. In those days the Invicta’s were shipped from the USA which incurred Customs Handling Fees (albeit reimbursed by the seller at that time).
Now Amazon are able to provide Prime Next Day Delivery Service on these watches.
I was looking through Amazon’s range of Invicta watches when I saw the Grand Diver. I like large watches and this is a really large (49 mm), heavy watch. I went for the black dial version with the green bezel which was being sold for a very competitive price. The green is not normally a colour I would choose but I felt like being a bit different.
The watch was delivered Next Day and well packaged by Amazon.
I have to say, Invicta have really done a great deal to up their game-plan with their latest watch range.
The watch comes in Invicta’s classic yellow textured clam snap case which is blistered packaged for protection-security.
Opening the case reveals a yellow suede effect interior, Membership Card, Warranty Booklet, extended Warranty offer and the Watch itself with the Invicta Swing Tag. The watch is beautifully covered with protective plastic on the bracelet, watch face and the exhibition back. Having removed the protective plastic, I was left with an absolutely stunning looking watch, which has serious presence on the wrist and I absolutely love the green bezel. The case and bracelet are beautifully machined with a combination of polished & satin finishes. The overall build quality of the watch case and bracelet is fabulous. The watch has an excellent Lumen on all 3 hands, bezel ref Dot and hour markers. The cyclops lens does a great job, magnifying the date, even for my eyes. The exhibition back allows you to see the movement. What I really like is Invicta have moved from the 21 Jewel Miyota movement to the 24 Jewel Seiko NH35A (SII) movement. The NH35A is a much nicer looking movement enhanced by the yellow Self-Winding Rotor on which is written stylised information about the movement. Timekeeping of this watch has been really impressive and much, much better than the Miyota movement in my Pro Diver 8926OB. I like the stylised second hand with the Invicta logo and the applied name and logo on the watch dial. Although not everyone’s cup of tea, I do like the Invicta name engraved into the polished case side and the name, Grand Diver, engraved either side of the Screw Down Crown. If there is one issue I have, it’s the Screw-Down Crown. The thread quality when screwing the Crown back down is rough / not smooth and care must be taken to not to cross thread the crown which can cause it to bind. I have tried to address this issue by using a miniscule amount of special clock grease on the thread (mindful of rubber seals). The grease has made a slight improvement. As I liked the Seiko NH35A (SII) movement so much, I purchased a new Invicta Pro Diver 8926OB to replace my older version fitted with the Miyota movement. All three watches exhibit the same Screw-Down Crown issues described.
I also have to agree with other reviewers who state the Bezel is very difficult to turn. The bezel is really tight, not helped by the use of the scalloped edge, rather than the alternative coin edge (OB). That said, it has loosened up slightly, with continued usage.
In conclusion, this is a very large, heavy, visually stunning watch, which keeps excellent time whilst representing amazing value for money at the price I paid compared to its current price. Add to this the 300M-1000ft Water Resistance and you have an impressive Diving watch.
This is one of many in my collection from Invicta , the reason I chose this one is for the yellow dial. Its a large, chunky size at 47mm it feels good on the wrist. A solid feeling watch , it can be a bit heavy for some , but I like the weight it feels good. The only issue I had was the strap “clasp” wasn’t securely fixed when I got it? This meant it didn’t close correctly? The result? The watch slipped off my wrist. But fair play to the build quality. A miniscule “dint” is all it suffered. As said in previous reviews there is some “snobbery” with regards to Invicta watches , don’t let that put you off , they are good solid watches ,price points from low to high. Which means there is something for everyone. At this price point what’s not to like. I have more expensive time pieces that are not as well built as this. It has had attracted a few comments in the short time I’ve had it. All good I hasten to add.
It’s been a month and the the timekeeping has been pretty good. Maybe a minute a week loss/gain?
But if you want a stunning watch, certain sacrifices will be made. I’m confident that as the watch settles in the time keeping will level out. ( Going by the others in my collection).
The luminox works very well on a daily charge. Still visible into the wee hours without too much straining of the eyes.
So marks out of ten? A very solid 9 for a very solidly built watch.
I’m already lining up my next Grand Diver Automatic even as I write this.
UPDATE.
6 Years later….
STILL going strong…looks as good as the day I got it.
This is my third pro diver from Invicta , the reason i bought this one is for the yellow dial. Rich deep yellow colour with black highlights around all the hour markers and hands. Its on the medium side of big , if that makes any sense, at 47mm it feels good on the wrist. A chunky robust watch , it can been a bit heavy for some , but i like the weight and feel. Time keeping is good as it uses the NH35A automatic movement …which is quite robust. There is some snobbery with regards to Invicta watches , don’t let that put you off , they are on the whole good honest watches , yes mass produced and a bewildering number of variations on a theme. Which means there is something for everyone. At the price point what’s not to like.
UPDATE: 5 years later (bought 2016) still goes strong, timekeeping is accurate and I don’t feel the need to replace.
I was looking for a stainless steel watch for business use, that is big, rough, automatic and looks apart and is not too expensive. This watch ticks all boxes. Just be aware and don’t try to pull the crown to set the time as you will break you nails (not the watch), rotate clockwise the crown and you will be able to pull it once for date and second for time. When you finish the settings don’t try and push the crown back in like I did, rotate it anti-clock wise till it’s fixed. I don’t know how good the timekeeping bit is, it looks like after a few hours the watch lost already a second but this may well be normal for automatic watches, i don’t know. Just a quick tip, if you want the stainless steel bracelet to shine evermore, take a cloth and spray a bit of wd40 in it and ‘clean’ the watch with the cloth.
UPDATE: Over 4 years since bought and still works seamlessly. No battery hassle, big strong robust, manly and accurate. Plus people think I wear a Rolex. Couple a scratches on the dial but that’s normal for over 1,600 days of use. The belt holds perfectly with not one single issue. For just over 100 what else do you want?!
I bought this out of curiosity to gauge the quality. I have a collection of watches ranging from gshocks, an orient mako to a steinhart ocean and an oris tt1 diver. First thing is this is not a $600 watch as appears on the tag, they are however worth the 99 I paid for it and I would probably say it could be sold at 150 and you would be happy with it.
The fit and finish is very good at this price, the only flaw I could find was the cyclops was not applied perfectly straight but I may try and remove this at some point. There are some quite surprising features on a watch at this price, wr to 300m with screw down crown, solid end links and a flawless stainless steel construction and a hacking seiko nh39a movement which has been decorated by invicta. Ive read stuff about reliabilty but i dont forsee any problems arising. I have yet to test its accuracy so cant comment on that. The watch is large and heavy but wears quite comfortably due to the case curving down at the end links. I have a 7 inch wrist and can just about get away with it. The dial is easy to read and again nicely finished but the hour markers dont have the trinite lume thats applied to the hands which is a shame
To sum up, its a nice looking chunky watch for occasional use but dont think you are getting something that compares to a higher end watch. I would place it on par with my orient mako but with a few extra features.
Just an update, I synced the watch against one of my gshock wave ceptors and its lost 4 seconds over 24 hours which is pretty impressive and more accurate than my oris. I also forgot to mention how solid the watch is with hardly any rattles while on the wrist. Very pleased with this watch.
Overall let me say that I am very pleased with this watch – it feels and looks like something that should cost at least twice what I have paid for it.
It is however a very large watch, now that suits me fine but you have to be aware just how BIG it is before you decide to buy it.
Positives:
Large and heavy watch that looks expensive
Nice detail executions (e.g. The diver’s helmet on the dial)
Beautiful two tone brushed and polished bracelet
Chunky clasp
Nice engraving on the case
Quality materials used
Watch out for:
The blue on the dial is different to the blue on the bezzle
The date magnifying glass is slightly wonky (but only ever so slightly and you might of course get one that is better)
Long bracelet so that you have to invest a little money to get it shortened (and I am a big guy)
Overall a beautiful piece well worth the money and I think I might order another 2 in different colours and a perfect match for my needs for a big watch that I can take on my travels without being worried about it too much
This is a decent watch at the price point. Its big heavy and rather imposing . Colours are vibrant and it has good quality seiko movement driving it. Presently running fifteen seconds down over a twenty four hour period which isn’t great but this dosent overly concern me. I have another in a different colour that only runs 6 seconds slow over the same period, very impressive for an automatic at this price so there can be variations on time keeping with the same movement.
Invicta do court a lot of controversy with their hugely inflated RRPs and year long sales, not to mention questionable reliability. Nonetheless I have a few and never experienced any technical issues so far. The divers do appear quite well built with a decent movement .
This is a good watch at the but not a great one. There are some great watches to be had at this price so this has to considered. However if you are intent on purchasing then I think you could do a whole lot worse than this monster.
I had been after an invicta watch for months, I had looked for videos and reviews on this watch for a long time and I am very glad I did. Some of the videos say this watch is huge and I was sceptical about buying it but I am very glad I did. I think the pro diver would have been to small for me. But I took the chance and was very pleased. I took it to a shop and had two links removed but that didnt cost much. So far it keeps very accurate time. Unless you let it run down for a few days, then you just set the time again and off you go. I would recommend this watch to anyone as I have had so many comments from people who like it and want to know where I got it from you would not believe it. I would buy another one if it stopped tomorrow. I will consider getting a watch winder just to keep it running as I don’t wear it to work. I hope this review has helped as I have spent alot of time researching this watch. All in all I can’t praise it enough the quality of the links the build everything is first class. Buy it you won’t be disappointed.
This is a full size, chunky, heavy, automatic watch at a great price. No need for costly battery replacement. It looks great, and the yellow colour is attractive and the watch certainly looks to be made to a high quality. The magnified date is easy to read. It is surprisingly accurate for an automatic. One theoretical issue is that the description on Amazon states it is a Swiss automatic movement but at the bottom of the face it says Japan Mov 1. If it had not been for this I would have given it 5 stars.
I really like this watch, it is a large chunky hunky piece of metal that combines some of the best features of the most celebrated watches that money can buy at a very reasonable price.
The face has much in common with the Rolex Deep Sea while the bezel has a scalloped edge like the Seamaster Professional. The inclusion of some original features helps to enhance. The hands are ended with elongated triangles like church spires. The second hand that sweeps smoothly is counterweighted by a tiny version of the winged Breitlingesque invicta logo.
The bezel is uni directional, it is a little tricky to turn due to the scalloped edge and has quite a loud mechanical sounding click.
The crystal is completely flat apart from the date cyclops that magnifies to fill about two thirds of the visible area.
The screw down crown that helps to provide the 1000 feet of water resistance has 2 positions, 1 for adjusting the date and a position 2 for adjusting the time.
There is a second logo of a dive bell, I particularly like the one on the face as I think it makes it more interesting. This logo also appears on the crown as well as the bracelet end links. Some people are not keen on this but I am not bothered either way.
One of the nicest features of this watch is the bracelet, it is really great quality. It has solid end links and a machined clasp stamped with the invicta logo including a safety catch. The links are solid and and quite thick. The outer links are brushed while the centre ones are polished. The outer links are also polished on the outer edge. I was easily able to size the bracelet as the pins were just the right firmness to be removed without excessive force. The clasp also has 4 position micro adjusters providing a surprisingly comfortable fit when worn for what is quite a large watch.
I did read a lot about this watch on the forums before taking the plunge and most people do not like the engravings on the sides of the case. On the 9 o’clock side is the word ‘invicta’ and on the 3 o’clock either side of the crown are the words ‘grand diver’. When you are wearing the watch it is not easy to actually see them yourself without bending your arm unnaturally. I can understand the complaint but I find these features okay.
Finally a little bit about the automatic movement. The one I received uses the Seiko NH35a although I know that other movements have been used for this model. So far I have found the accuracy to be excellent just 6 seconds fast a day. Whether this persists or whether you are as fortunate is impossible to say.
The rear case back is clear so you can see the decorated movement. The movement is hacking so the second hand freezes when you set the time so no problem recreating those scenes from 70s war movies where there always seemed to be a need to synchronise watches. Hand winding is also possible and to me felt nice and smooth.
So are there any disappointing aspects… ?
Well only slightly.. Compared to my Orient Mako which is flawless under intense scrutiny I can not say the same for this. On the bezel one of the dots seems to have a slight imperfection. The luminoss material in the markers up close is a little uneven. These points are extremely panickity and now I have had the watch a while I don’t notice them.
In summary if you are a watch addict like me and if it is to your taste you will enjoy this watch. If you are not but like a the idea of a watch that never needs a battery and has a large presence you cant go wrong
