This head strap and battery pack is highly adjustable and the charge last far longer than the battery in the Quest 2. It fits a childs head and my huge bonce (63cm diameter) so it’s good for all the family. It’s very comfortable compared to the original strap and gives a little more balance to the Quest 2 headset. The side seem a little thin on first inspection but they seem very robust when attached so no complaints at this point. Instructions are OK and it takes around 5 minutes to fit. Carefully remove the old strap, it’s clipped in place and click this one on. Just be careful not to force anything, a light touch, not a heavy hand… This fits perfectly in the 20 quid Aubika made case for the Quest 2 shown in the attached photo. This is a highly recommended piece of ki
I got this for my new Meta Quest 2. Much better than the original strap due to the balance. The battery is in back of the strap so the weight of the VR at the front feels less like it’s weighing your face down. Great battery life and the headphones sound great too. It’s quite expensive but you are getting a lot and it’s super sturdy. My only quibble is this, if you don’t like too much bulk, go for something less bulky, my husband says he feels it’s too heavy , it depends what you want out of it I suppose . It’s difficult to get it to sit on a docking station with all that on the headset, I did manage to find one though. It probably won’t fit into a normal sized carry case with the head strap on either. If you want this for gaming then it’s a great addition. I watched lots of reviews on this before I got it. Kiwi is a really good make and I have purchased several VR items from them. If you are a gamer who wants a one stop tool, this is for you. Just put it on and you are good to go. I would recommend.
Since deciding to invest some money in a gaming pc and my hatred for wired vr this has been a god send. Now I can air link for hours! Well worth the money, good build quality and very comfortable! The added weight on the back really helps to balance out the quest 2 and ends up actually feeling lighter because of it!
Great build quality. It does exactly what it is meant to do. It can more than double your wireless gaming time between charges. That alone makes it worth the money, but there is more! The battery helps to balance your Quest 2 better. This makes your VR adventures more comfortable. It even fits inside the carry case that I bought for use with the original extended battery. The Kiwi battery also has the ability to quickly flip the headset up, so that you can easily visit the real world should the need occur. I would recommend this product without reservation.
Great buy. Worth paying for the extra comfort. Plus battery life is much needed to help play them games on the headset. You get about 6 to 7hrs of play. Will be buying more products from kiwi in the future!!
Really comfortable to wear, much better than the one that came with the quest, but…the back wheel and side straps stopped working within 4 months. The straps stopped locking in, so it just hangs loosely off the face and balancing on the head. I brought this up with their customer service who stated that it wasn’t a common issue, and offered me a replacement right away, or a refund. Great customer care.
Make oculus comfortable and sturdy. Extra battery is a must.
I bought this because my quest would die so fast constantly but because of this I have more than enough to play on it and be able to give it to my little brother to play for a while and for it to still come back fully charged and then some I very much recommend this and the only flaw is that you just have to remember to not have it plugged in and not use it for weeks on end because it will drain the batteries on the headset itself. Great product!
I tried (and returned) a few. This brand is a little pricey, but it is robust and doesn’t creak like many of the others (some of which would switch the headset to passthrough mode mid-game) and it fits everyone in the family. Secure enough for the kids to play Gorilla Tag, and the additional battery life means they get several hours of continuous playing.
Strongly recommended.
I found using the oculus VR uncomfortable and heave on the front. This allows the weight to be distributed allowing for a more comfortable experience. It charges quickly and easily. The earphones are comfortable too so you can really submerge yourself within the gaming experience.
I was really on the fence about spending this kind of money for this product but I am so glad I did. I didn’t realize just how uncomfortable the stock head strap was until I was using this for a few hours. Not only does this make my Oculus so much more comfortable but the extended battery life this provides is awesome as I no longer have to run for a plug after a long gaming session.
The headphones built into this feel great and the sound quality is good. They feel very comfortable to my ears and I like how they are built right in.
Now to the cons, all this padding feel fantastic but if your moving around a lot you will notice how the areas of your skin that are in contact with it are sweating more than the areas that are not. Now the old straps just soaked up the sweat (gross I know but true) where as these don’t so you will notice some moister if you’re really moving. However the comfort you get from the padding greatly outweighs this negative but for some people who run really hot this might be bothersome but for me it was not but was something I noticed when I take off the headset.
Overall this product is worth the price paid, the quality is there, the ease of use is there and what you get in terms of comfort, battery life, and audio make it worth the price of admission.
I have been using my Oculus Quest 2 with the pro strap/battery pack for a couple years now. That is to say, the official one sold by Facebook/Meta. And while that one is okay, this is just so much better. Not only is the battery twice the size of what is in the official one, but it is unbelievably more comfortable. The weight is balanced very well, and the extra padding really makes a difference for the longer play sessions you are now capable of because of the bigger battery. The ability to swivel up the eyepiece is huge too; especially if you’re interacting with your surroundings at all while you use the device.
There’s only two things that I would like to point out, where it could be improved. First, it is unfortunate that it doesn’t 100% replicate the functionality of the official battery, where your Oculus acts as if it has two batteries installed; instead it just thinks that it’s plugged into a charger. Which is fine functionally, but just a little bit less seamless than the official device. Second, the USB-C jack that plugs into the Oculus itself has to be pushed in VERY HARD. It’s not intuitive, and you’ll likely think you have it in when it isn’t really plugged in. I think they could make that a little smoother just for the sake of user friendliness.
That said, those are very very minor complaints about a device which is absolutely game-changing for VR usage, both mobile and linked to a PC. Don’t be drawn in by the overpriced official model, or cheap battery packs from unknown, nameless brands you can buy online. Neither of those stand up to the quality of the Kiwi device. I’ve been using my Quest 2 for years now, and i’ve tried a number of peripherals for it. This one is second to none. It’s not perfect, granted…but it’s also the best you can buy.
Like: Very comfortable. Using the knob to tighten or loosen the straps is nicer than the stock head strap design. I am able to get a much better fit to my face as well.
Dislike: Even though the strap battery is fully charged and the screen tells me the Oculus is charging, I receive a warning that the battery is low and to plug the device in asap. If I don’t “plug it in” the Oculus powers down and I lose my game (and game progress). I didn’t seem to have the problem for the first few weeks. I have checked that the strap battery is firmly plugged in yet it happens anyway.
REVISION: The unit works as advertised. I _thought_ the strap battery was firmly plugged in, as I had pushed quite hard on it and the Oculus screen was showing that charging was happening. Images provided while corresponding with the maker revealed that I possibly needed to push the plug in deeper. So I gave it a shot. No change. Then I gave it another shot. . . pushed _really_ hard on the plug and it did go deeper and I now have full charging. 5 stars . . . or maybe 4 because you have to push so hard on the plug lol.
I was not connecting the battery cable properly. KIWI commented on my review and I corrected the mistake. The cord did not look like it was pushed in all the way and in the instructions KIWI said I would hear a click witch I never heard before. So I pushed a little harder and it clicked into place. I played for an hour and a half and had 99% battery life. So this would get 10 stars if possible. 5 for comfort alone and 5 for battery life. Bellow is my original comment when I was doing it wrong and unhappy about it.
The comfort is 5 stars no doubt. It might be extending the battery life by around 5%. Yes, I constantly checked the menu for the lightning blot on the battery and it was always reading it was charging but the power level just kept on dropping. The head strap battery never dropped below 75% best I could tell. Supposedly if you leave everything connected and only charge the head strap, the head strap will charge the Oculus but it is the same minuscule trickle charge as when using the VR and stayed at 22% for 15 minutes so I just charged the Oculus normally and it was at 38% in 15 minutes while off. If it was just the head strap I would have given this 5 stars. The battery is just a ballast really. I’m gonna re right this once I test it a little more but I’ll give accurate numbers for the battery usefulness when I do.
It’s great and increases my quests battery life by at least 3 hours. Only thing that would have been nice is for it to have a power button, so I wouldn’t have to keep unplugging the USB C cable to the headset when it’s not in use
I’ve put off getting a head strap for a year but the original is not much fun. I also wanted one with a battery so that narrowed it down.
First of all it is very comfortable, the battery at the back balancing the weight out much better than the original strap.
The battery adds hour of extra use to the headset and charges through the same cable, the built in battery gave only 2hours which was never quite enough.
It is super easy to fit literally 5 mins and if you are unsure any YouTube video showing how to change the original head strap will guide you through it.
I also wear glasses so the ability to tilt the front to adjust or demist is very handy .
I can’t comment on the longevity as I’ve had it a short time but it seems as sturdy as other headsets I’ve seen .
Hope this helps
my grandson was delighted..sturdiness is so much better also longer life battery ..very pleased
Battery pack works perfectly and way more comfortable than original straps. Nothing to dislike. I do wonder how long the plastic sides that go in and out will last for before snapping as that’s repeated movement but so far so good and a great purchase to enhance the quest 2.
He says this tripled his play time and makes the headset fit much more snuggly on his head
Sturdy for use by a heavy handed 10 yr old. Quick delivery sturdy peice of kit and affordable. Easy to set up and fix so far very happy
It really is a game changer!! Takes pressure off the front of the head. I checked out some Utube videos to assist in putting it on. I’m now able to do fitness videos without fear of damaging the Oculus. Bit pricey but very good.
eally pleased with my purchase. great product, a lot more comfortable than original strap.
Can’t speak personally as bought this as a Xmas present for my grandson. He’s on the spectrum and comfort is a big thing to him so this was a big hit. Also because it’s rechargeable he can play longer on his VR.
A gift for my 10 year old grandson who found them easy to attach, they made his head set feel much more comfortable as it balanced it better on his head. Dad connected them together and found it very simple
I bought for my grandson and he is very happy with i
I don’t know much about this but grandson said ‘ it’s amazing’ that will do for me.
I have to say this is a brilliant piece of kit, the adjustable band helps stop your fingers touching the lenses and also makes for a very comfortable gaming session. I also play Les Mills Body Combat a lot and there are no issues at all. It extends battery life to a point where your probably going to give up gaming before the battery does
Single charge will get you 3-4 and sometimes 5 hours without needing to plug the headset in.
I use this strap almost weekly with Bigscreen VR and can easily get through a long movie and hours of talking. It’s comfortable enough throughout, not sure if the ratchet could be better or whether mine has gone loose but it feels as if turning the ratchet doesn’t lock it in place.
Awesome bit of kit, was slightly put off by cost as other alternatives on the marker are cheaper but glad I went for it. Chose this one over the cheaper options based on others reviews.
My wife occasionally wants to have a go on the Quest2 but found the constant adjustment of the ‘stock’ strap annoying and uncomfortable. This makes it super simple. The ratchet system for tightening really makes the fitting and swapping so much easier.
Straightforward to install, took all of about 5mins to get it on.
Fits very well, balances the weight so you don’t get ‘face ache’
The extra padding on the top strap and rear makes it very comfortable to wear for extended use.
The battery performs really well. Took around 3hrs to fully charge out of the box. After a 2hr Resident Evil sesh, the battery is about 1/2 drained and the headset is still 100% so I’d guess I would get about 6-7 hours of constant use before it’s out of juice which is far more than I’ll ever use in one sitting.
Would happily recommend
I just bought a Quest 2 a few weeks ago and wanted better battery life for long sessions on my headset. 2 hours on the headset battery just isn’t long enough and I expect over time that the battery life will shorten. I easily get 4 hrs with this battery strap which is great and that is playing demanding games like ‘Into the Radius’. I can get 5 hours out of it if I turn off the wifi on the headset for games that don’t require an internet connection to play. The headset is very comfortable indeed, well padded, well made and so easy to adjust with the wheel on the back. It makes gaming that much more immersive as its so comfortable that you forget at times that you are wearing a headset, seriously the amount of times I have gone to rub my eye or scratch my nose and hit my headset. There are a lot of brands to choose from and I am so very glad I choose kiwi. I think this will certainly last as it feels very durable and well made. Definately recommend it. 5/5
I bought this because I had 2 main problems with the Quest 2. I found it very uncomfortable to wear for more than 30 minutes, and the battery life only lasted around 2.5 hours.
The Kiwi design battery strap has genuinely been game changing. The strap is much easier to adjust than the regular Meta strap. All adjustments are done via a velcro strap on the top, and a ratcheting wheel on the back. This makes it very easy to quickly readjust. The top strap and the rear interface are both padded with leather and are very soft, making them comfortable to wear even for a few hours. The strap also has a neat feature where you can flip up the VR headset. This is really useful for anyone who wears glasses in VR, as it allows you to flip the headset up out of the way, put on your glasses and then flip the headset down back over them.
With regards to battery life, I played around 2.5 hours of VRChat, over Oculus Air Link using the Steam client version. When I stopped, the headset was still on 100% battery, and around half of the strap’s battery pack had been depleted, so I’d estimate you get around 4 hours or so out of the strap alone (plus the normal 2.5 hours out of the headset). It’s a huge increase in battery life and makes VR a much more convenient experience.
The other benefit of having the battery strap is that it adds extra weight to the back of your head. With the Meta standard strap, all of the weight is over the front of your face, but the Kiwi design strap distributes this weight much more evenly, which again increases the comfort.
The only downsides I can think of are very minor:
– The headset won’t fit in the Quest 2 box anymore, you can buy another box to solve this
– The strap is definitely more bulky and does weigh more but I found I got used to this quickly
– There doesn’t seem to be a way of checking the strap battery once you’re in VR (you can only see the headset battery).
Overall though, while expensive this does make a huge difference to comfort and play time in VR and I’d really recommend it to anyone struggling with the standard Quest 2 strap.
Good extra battery for the VR experience and fits perfect. Defo recommended
Very easy to fit, comfortable to wear for long periods, a really good addition to my quest experience.
(Kiwi battery strap for the Meta Quest 2 review)
(Unboxing and Fitting to the Quest 2)
The Kiwi battery strap was well packed and it also came with a lens cleaning cloth in the box.
Before using it ,it is recommended to fully charge it .
Fitting it onto the Quest 2 was quite easy using the leather straps provided and plugging the connection wire into the side of the Meta Quest.
(Comfort & Benefits)
I think the added weight of the battery at the back of my head makes it feel much more balanced on the top of my head and with the padding around the back beside the battery compartment, and the leather strap across the top of my head. There is also full adjustment for any head size, which makes it very comfortable to wear.
You also have the benefit of charging both batteries one in the head strap and one in the Quest 2. When the battery pack is connected to the Quest 2 and the charging power cable is connected to the head strap, it will charge both batteries at once.
I find the option of being able to lift the Quest 2 up when needing to look at the tablet or computer a very useful addition.
(Battery Life Testing)
For me it lasted about 4 hours and the battery indicator lights seem to go off one by one, for about every hour of battery usage.
Overall It seems a very well thought out design which is made very well and nicely finished, making it a great battery head strap for extending the time you can use the Meta Quest for.

While the battery on the Meta Quest 2 can last 2 or 3 hours on its own, sometimes more than enough for a full VR session, sometimes you need it to just keep going for an extended session. On the other hand, you could be caught out, forgetting to charge your Quest 2, now having to wait for a long time until it’s charged.
This is where the KIWI Design battery headstrap comes in. It combines the already well known comfort of KIWI’s (improved) imitation of Meta’s Elite Strap and adds their own take on the built in battery back.
This battery is powerful enough to provide anywhere from 2 to a huge 5 hours of additional playtime from a full charge! This is of course dependent on the apps you’re using and how much power they cause the Quest 2 to eat up, but personally haven’t seen up to 5 hours of battery with a built in head strap so far, they have all been 2 or 3 hours at most, so this from KIWI is impressive.
If you don’t mind cables, you can even further extend this, by having the strap plugged into your Quest, and having your headstrap plugged in from your mains power to simultaneously charge both the headstrap and Quest 2. The added benefit of this, is that the cable is behind you, not dangling in front of your face like some other brands and interfering with your VR experience.
So other than the battery, the headstrap continues to provide the high level of comfort that has impressed many people throughout the VR community. The improved top resting strap with added cushioning helps you distribute more of the weight across the top of the head rather than just on the face and cheeks. Having the battery in the rear of the strap also creates a more even balance of front and back weight, which in my opinion, adds to overall comfort even though it makes the device slightly heavier overall.
It goes to show that it’s not the weight itself that causes issues with the included headstrap with the Quest 2, but more the distribution of the weight that causes the face ache. Of course, KIWI took it one step further including the added soft cushioning on the top strap and on the back cushion which cups to the head. The latter is removable for more convenient storage and/or ease of cleaning.
Like with the non-battery variant, this strap has a twist-tighten design to easily adjust the strap to your own head and comfort. Something that I think was a much needed improvement, and I’m sure many people with glasses will appreciate, was that they added an adjustable hinge which allows you to easily put on and take off the strap without it being a squeeze, or fighting with glasses etc.
When I review items, I like to offer small areas of improvement where possible. So if I had to pick a point on which KIWI could further improve this headstrap, I would suggest some sort of grip on the tightening mechanism at the rear. I don’t have the best grip, my hands are quite slippy in general, and while still relatively easy to tighten it would be much easier if there were some points of friction on the dial. Minor details, but important feedback none the less I feel 🙂
Overall, extremely impressed, 5/5 Would recommend.
I’d seen a few head straps that had ways to attach separate battery packs as a way to lengthen gaming time but this was the first one I’d seen that had the battery built into the design and it’s so much better to use. The design is really top notch with great quality throughout. It’s really easy to attache the Quest 2 and to adjust the strap to fit the head and the comfort is great. The extra gaming time is significant and makes. huge difference when I have two fighting for control of the headset. Is it a bit pricey (even with the voucher reduction)? Maybe. But if you factor in the cost of a power bank with a cheaper headset option and then factor in the ease of this version, I think it’s probably worth the extra in the end.
I’ve had a Quest 2 for nearly two years and in my opinion it’s the best VR on the market. I’m basing this on ease of use, cost, games and build quality. The one thing that hurts it is battery life.
This is not to say the battery life is poor, it’s really good considering what it does. No, the issue is that you will want to keep playing and eventually it will need to go on charge. I purchased the official pro head strap with built in battery, shortly after picking up the Quest 2 and it’s been great. The trap itself is so much better than the basic one, it’s night and day. The added battery life is also hugely welcome.
I say all this so you know where I’m coming from when I tell you the KIWI head strep is superb! It’s just as easy to use and comfortable as the official pro head strap, and offers pretty much the same boost to playing time through the built in battery. The main difference is the pivot in the strap ‘arms’. Anyone that’s played with a VR headset will know it’s a bit annoying to lift it off your face when you have to check something in the real world. The KIWI gets over this with a really well made joint that means you can simply lift it up and then back down again, without loosening the strap or taking the whole thing off. Sounds like a small detail but it’s great.
If you have a Quest 2, then a decent head strap is essential. I rate the KIWI very highly, you will not be disappointed.
What an excellent piece of kit this is! I bought the version with the battery pack which is great as it vastly extends the battery life you have to play with but crucially the weight of the battery provides a great counterweight to the headset.
It’s very easy to fit to the Quest and only took a few minutes to get up and running. I was immediately impressed with the comfort and ease of adjustment. It’s been tried with all four of us now with a range of head sizes and it takes seconds to adjust for each of us.
The most important thing for me was to extend the length of time I can wear the headset as with the standard strap I could only manage at most half an hour. I’ve had the headset on for hours this evening and no issues at all, it’s just so much more comfortable and balanced! I think the version with the battery pack is well worth the money. Well done Kiwi design!
This came and it was packaged in what looks like a well made recycled cardboard box which is always appreciated, a “make things better” message which is a nice touch and an all round nice addition to my quest 2 collection.
This is probably how others should have been but that’s just my opinion, I don’t want to offend anyone. I find it’s a lot more comfortable than others and once it was on my headset it’s not moved so that’s probably the greatest compliment I can give.
