Arrived well packaged with no visable marks or damage to the outer box which is important for collectors.I would say that its not a build that should be attempted by under 10’s as it is a fairly complex build but with patience it can be done with a minimum of fuss & the instructions are very clear & comprehensive. All in all i am very happy with the finished product & it sits proudly in my collection.
I bought this cheaper than it would of been from Lego for a Lego fanatic .
I absolutely adore this piece , made up he is perfect , 10/10
I have built a lot of Lego, but this set was incredibly fun to build because of how many intricate pieces it had. As a huge fan of the Mario franchise I snapped this up as soon as it was available and I am so glad I did.
The set is relatively easy to put together but may be a bit trickier for younger children. I would say if you have built a Lego set of a similar size before then you will find it pretty easy to do.
I like that when it is fully constructed it really does look like Bowser, large, intimidating and detailed.
Highly recommend this set for any Mario fan,
5/5
One of the best Lego sets going in my opinion. Great animation with so many moving parts and very sturdy.
Only issue I had was a missing piece but I contacted Lego.com and a replacement was sent out.
Lucky to have purchased this build during the Black Friday sales season. At RRP, I didn’t think it was one that could be a ‘justifiable’ purchase (says the big kid). So with 100 off, the arm was twisted to take the plunge.
And having recently taken a few days off, of which this build took 3 days in between other stuff, this has probably turned out to be the best designed LEGO set I’ve ever built (although I’ve still got to do the UCS Millennium Falcon).
As a completed figure, the look is amazing with all the details you’d expect for this iconic character. But the real pleasure was during the assembly stages of many elements: the shell; the mechanics of how everything moves; all the components are insane. So when you see the final figure with its motion, the only thing that would make this better would be to have an automated motion system in place!
At 130, this was well worth the value – if you can get this for a similar price, pull the trigger! (N.B. the firing mechanism to shoot the ‘fireball’ from the mouth has no safety; if you accidentally tilt the head, you’ll fire that thing off – be warned and only load when intending to use it!). Now I’m off to research how they designed this thing 10/10
I have been contemplating spending this amount of money on lego but I couldn’t resist it, and I’m so glad I didn’t, Iv been waiting for a few years for my kids to be old enough so I could pass on all of my old lego and they’ve also got the bug, they love the Mario stuff and Iv recently gone nuts buying Star Wars stuff but this is a superb addition to the collection, and it’s a damn load cheaper from here than the Lego store!
My only issue is there arn’t more large lego sets like this from the Mario world, but bowser is awesome, it is taking a while but I’m not rushing it, once it’s done I’m looking for the next one, I like a challenge and this isn’t too difficult and reasonably priced particularly with the payment plan over 5 months makes it affordable.
I need a new room for all the kids (my) lego
This really is an incredible Lego set. All in all it took me around 14 or 15 hours to assemble. The assembly so so much fun that in a way I wish it took longer! But the final thing is so cool that it’s worth however long it takes.
It’s exactly how you’d want it to be, and I recommend this to Mario and Lego fans.
Lots of pieces a bit too easy to assemble but still great!
Amazingly sturdy and looks fantastic apart from his thumbs, they just look odd.
I was lucky enough to snag this in the sale for a great price!
Being my first big build I really enjoyed the process and found it really relaxing. Also having a book supplied rather than requiring the app to follow instructions really helped.
Overall the designers did an outstanding job! And best of all this looks amazing as a display piece!
Bought for Christmas. I heard that this was a big set but I was surprised just how big!
The box is beautifully designed and bowser really pops out of the black background.
The set is split into 22 numbered bags containing 2807 pieces.
The build was very enjoyable and bowser is extremely sturdy. It really is a stunning model that can easily be a display piece or played with.
Youngsters may need some help with the build as there are some advanced building techniques. As with all lego sets the instructions are very clear and helpful, but it will take a number of hours over a few days to complete. It’s well worth the time though and the final model is fully poseable and looks stunning.
Overall this is one of the best sets of 2022 and one of the best of all-time. Highly recommended
If you have a Mario fan in your life who also appreciates a Lego set (and you can bear the price) then this is a no brainer.
Constructed over a couple of days this is a large model and very true to the subject. He glares at me proudly from the shelf he has occupiedit is really for such display so not much play value if you had that in mindthis went down very well with my teenage so
This Lego kit is good. It is easy to assemble and use. It is packaged well and comes with spare pieces. Good quality and design and recommended for gifting for building yourself.
When the box arrived it was larger than expected, but then Bowser is a big boy. The contents were spilt into 22 numbered bags and one bag of larger Lego plates. The instruction booklet had a very welcome addition of a preface from the designers and a historical record of Bowser in Lego.
As this was my wife’s first Lego kit, my children did help to get her started. The instruction were very clear and helpful and soon they were racing through the build.
Overall this took about 12 hours over three days to build, it is a big kit. The children had disappeared by the end of the first day, maybe three hours in.
Would definitely recommend for someone with Lego building experience or lots of patience. Though this is possible for the Lego novice and the individual bags do break things up to manageable chunks.
In conclusion, great kit, amazing value, wife was happy.
It’s Bowser, baby.
Product box was damaged, with large holes and rips. The j structure booklet was also ripped.
Great deal on this set – 100 cheaper than the Lego Store and it’s huge!
I’ve been wanting this set for a while, but definitely too expensive (rrp 230). Luckily found it in offer, 100 off. Bought it straight away. Massive set, a bit tricky to build but definitely worth i
This is a fantastic set with some well executed build techniques using a well proportioned mix of technic and regular bricks. The build took me a few hours to finish and once complete it looks amazing feels very sturdy.
The instruction book comes in at over 340 pages with each building stage easy to follow
The set is poseable with the arms/hands/tail/eyebrows and head all moveable plus it has a play feature of the fireball attack.
Overall this is one of the best sets released this year and is a must have for any Lego/Mario fan.
An amazing set and very impressive both in size and function.
If I had to critique, It’s another example of Lego using custom pieces rather than outright creativity but it’s limited to the joint articulation and a set this big and heavy did maybe need new ones.
Great build and a great finished article.
This set is absolutely brilliant and it’s huge! A real head turner for the man cave! Building it is as straightforward as you would expect using the provided instruction manual (although this is like a short novel). I built this over 3 evenings whilst watching TV without much issue despite frequent lack of concentration. The quality is top notch as you’d expect from Lego and for a model of this price. It does have interactive elements to it once completed but for me this is definitely more of an ornament than a toy to be played with.
Is it good value for money? I’d say so even at the full price of 229 but I am a massive Mario and Lego fan so ultimately this is down to personal opinion. I would definitely recommend the set though.
Wow, what an awesome set. Very surprised at the size of the box! It’s massive.
Sorting the Lego before building is one of my fave parts. It took a long time with this set as it’s absolutely massive.
The build took me 5 evenings at a slow pace. Just picking it up after dinner and doing bits here and there. It’s just so enjoyable.
Sets like this bowser one are the perfect gift for adults who are into building, making, crafting and games. Even if they’re not hardcore Lego fans, this is such a great set to build. I’m in my 30s and I enjoyed every second.
I would highly recommend this. Not only is it fun to build, the engineering behind it all is amazing and the final piece on display looks so good on a desk or shelf.
11/10 from me!
Bought this for my son as he loves bowser, with my son being disabled I built it fir him wat too much fun easy ti assemble, the instructions make these lego builds so easy to assemble
The set is appropriate for ages 18+ (although I think a few 16 year olds could probably complete this if they have decent experience of building Lego sets) due to the technicalities of the build process and the sheer number of pieces involved in completing it – 2807 pieces in total.
The build instructions are very easy to follow and come in a very easy to follow booklet. The pieces are separated into 22 numbered bags which is very handy when building. When completed, the final product is certainly a “Mighty Bowser” and measures a whopping 29 inches high by 29 inches wide. and is a very accurate representation of the game character.
The only minor complaint I had was with the packaging provided by amazon as the outer box was damaged with a significant crease in the top right hand corner. Although this did not impact me personally, it would not be acceptable if I were gifting it to somebody else.
Apart from this, this is a superb Lego set which looks great, is demanding to build and is made from very high quality materials. I would certainly recommend it!
This is something that will take a while to put together but then gives a sense of achievement once completed.
There are 2807 parts in total, gathered in 21 bags, with the Lego manual, which has over 350 pages, as always, the Lego manual is very helpful and easy to follow.
The figure itself has jointed arms, hands, legs, tail and rotating head and eyes to create different poses
The colours used are very vibrant and colourful.
It’s great to do on your own or even better to do with someone else in my opinion.
It takes time and patience but worth the effort when completed, as it makes an excellent display piece and talking point.
From a price point of view, I am a Lego rookie in this range, although I have built many different Legos, this range is new to me, so can’t comment as to whether the price is right or not. I can comment on the level of detail and that these seems to be more of an investment.
Great Christmas gift if you can afford it that will let the recipient have a break from their phone and social media, bringing family or friends together to do something physical, that gets the old grey matter going, with a sense of achievement when completed.
I took up the hobby of LEGO Building earlier this year after being gifted one of the Black Box “For Grown Ups” Helmet set and I was immediately hooked. From that point I have made several of that collection including the Infinite Gauntlet, Darth Vader, Venom, I am Groot, Mandalorian sets right up to celebrating my Birthday this year with the LEGO Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order: BD-1 Set, that was just over 1000 pieces and a challenge. LEGO The Mighty Bowser is on a whole other level and completely worth it.
This set has a high end price tag because it is included in the high tier “For Grown Ups” Black Box range of sets. It is a 2807 piece, 22 bags monster set to create one of the most iconic villains in all of video games, The Mighty Bowser. This will stand 12″ tall when fully completed, I split this build across 5 evenings at 4 bags a night until the final completion bags. I loved every minute of this build, it will be a challenge for even the most experienced of LEGO fans as it does contain various mechanisms inside to animate and turn the head (a push bar allows the head to turn) but this part is very early in the build which leaves putting the rest of Bowser together.
As a big gamer and Nintendo fan, the satisfaction of seeing the model come together, realising which component you were making and just seeing it all come together was incredible. Compared to other large models I have made, this is incredibly sturdy and posable, once completed it can be handled safely but I will advise this, you will need a large sturdy space to display this because it is huge but completely worth it.
The 350 page instruction book will be as daunting as the box it all comes in, but once again LEGO excels at breaking down this build to make it easy to follow with images designed to compare what you have made against what you “should” have made so any mistakes can be easily rectified. There were several extra pieces left over but this is actually very common with all the sets I have made. This is definitely for the die hard LEGO and Nintendo Gaming fan, with the Super Mario Brothers movie releasing next year, this will make a lifelong collectible for a fan. It is also part of the LEGO Super Mario Brothers range, and as such it can interact with the other sets especially the Digital Mario, there is a secret platform in the base that has a special sticker that the Mario Figure will exclusively react to, but this set is also on the high end for what that offers, it is a shame there is no option just to buy the Mario figure to complete this set, was actually surprised it was not included for the asking price but again, this is a high end set for grown ups and at its size and design, it is a fair asking price imo.
I loved this build, as hugely satisfying to put together as The Mighty Bowser is when completed…I can already hear Jack Black’s Bowser voice coming from it!
There are people who love Super-Mario, and people who love lego. If you get the sweetspot of someone who loves both, then this is a desirable gift.
It is expensive, so you want it to take time to build. It is not for kids, it is 18+ and will take time to assemble. But once put together, you can keep it as a display piece.
It is a good bit of kit. It’s less money than the massively priced star wars items, but it is still a considered purchase. Probably launched at the right time for Christmas presents.
Die-hard lego enthusiasts will love it.
.
When opening the box we unpacked the Lego bags and we counted 22 numbered bags, plus there was an unnumbered bag, this was the base plate bag so 23 in total.
Let’s start by saying this is a massive figure containing 2807 pieces.
I have wrote down the time it took me to complete each bag, so you have a rough estimate of how long it takes till the time of completion.
Which are as follows.
bag 1 took 9 mins.
bag 2 took 11mins.
bag 3 took 18 mins due to fiddly mosaic tiles.
Bag 4 took 18 mins.
Bag 5 20minutes.
Bag 6 35 minutes.
Bag 7 25 minutes.
Bag 8 35 minutes.
Bag 9 25 minutes.
Bag 10 20 minutes.
Bag 11 30 minutes.
Bag 12 17 minutes.
Bag 13 20 minutes.
Bag 14 50 minutes.
Bag 15 40 minutes.
Bag 16 19 minutes.
Bag 17 15 minutes.
Bag 18 35 minutes.
Bag 19 20 minutes.
Bag 20 32 minutes.
Bag 21 38 minutes.
Bag 22 25 minutes.
Total time till completion.
557 mins = 9.283 hours
And wow! Once Bowser is fully built, He is heavy, weighing in at 5.4lb so a very substantial amount.
But He is absolutely incredible once built. Nearly every part of bowser moves, he’s head, he’s mouth, he’s eyes, he’s eyebrows, he’s arms, he’s wrists, he’s fingers, he’s legs he’s tails.
Think of this amazing Lego figure as a Lego puppet.
The engineer & designer’s that built this awesome figure needs massive amount of credit. Because this is a total work of art once it’s finished.
The attention to detail is second to none. This figure is nothing short of amazing! And I absolutely love it!
So thank you very much Amazon for sending this out to me for a review.
It’s been a total honour in building this masterpiece, And reviewing it.
I hope you found my review helpful. 🙂
There are 2807 pieces in the box, distributed among 21 bags. Give yourself plenty of time! The manual is truly excellent, incorporating lots of interesting information beyond construction.
The Mighty Bowser truly is mighty, standing 32 cms tall and even wider than that. Not that mine has reached full size yet, not by quite a long way. I’m loving the colours and turtle form, as it progresses. I haven’t got to the point yet where I can really enjoy some of the movements and actions but you’ll get a good idea from the description of what to expect.
This is going to be quite a display piece, one that certainly won’t escape anyone’s attention. The actions are going to be great fun. It’s expensive, currently 230 — regard it as an investment! It’s worth the money for any Lego constructors looking for a significant challenge.
Enough for now. Time to get back to work. I’ll try and come back with thoughts on the finished Bowser, along with photos. Congratulations to the design team.
It’s also set I suspect aimed at adults; both in its size which makes it become a nice shelf item; time and concentration needed to build it– as well as it not insignificant price. There aren’t any stickers in the set; bricks come with eyes and bowser logos already printed on them.
I was assisted in the build my one of my nieces. It is a long and different build from a lot of Lego sets as the result is somewhat articulated. Bowser is about 30cm tall when complete; you can adjust his pose, his hair, arms it’s a great model if you do want something significant on a shelf to look at.
When complete it stands up on its own — on the final boss battle base or anywhere you feel like putting it. You can move the head and jaws manually; or via two built in Lego elements that let you adjust for yaw and pitch. You can move each eye separately and give poor bowser a terrible squint.
If you have a Mario and are playing with the model this gives you some control over the fireball that you can shoot from his mouth. The two flaming pillars on the base also fall over to reveal little pow bricks. (This seems a pain if you are using them for display as they are easy to knock over by accident.
It’s a truly excellent set; if you are looking for a top tier gift for a Mario or Lego fan for Christmas this makes a huge change from endless Star Wars sets. It’s not cheap but just seeing 21 bags of bricks explains why.
This is an epic lego set aimed at 18+ though I think teenagers, especially those into the Mario world, would enjoy this. The set comes with a mammoth instruction manual (350 pages) that takes you step-by-step through the build with detailed pictures.
There are 2807 pieces separated into numbered bags to aid in the order of the build. The finished product is of substantial size and so is the box it came in. It’s huge.
My only disappointment was that the lego box was damaged with a significant crease. This was due to it being delivered in a thin cardboard box and I assume it became damaged during delivery.
As expected for lego, the price is high (229 at the time of review). I presume only Mario/lego enthusiasts would pay that amount.
I think there is a collectable value to this item and many hours of enjoyment building Bowser for any lego enthusiast.
I am 60 now and always had Lego as a child, same with my children and now the grandkids.
My 10 and 12 year old grandsons are both are Lego fans but have never had a Lego kit like this.
It’s is an amazing kit.
We managed to do this over 14 hours starting Friday evening and finished it Sunday lunchtime.
This is the LEGO 3D model of The Mighty Bowser There are 22 bags of pieces,
2807 parts and a manual, well a book really.
We all had great fun building it, now the argument of which grandson gets to keep it
This truly was a pleasure to do, although this isn’t a toy it is really for the Lego enthusiasts and collectors.
I cannot praise this highly enough for quality and enjoyment.
This thing is big, it comes in a big box with a big instruction manual (22 pages). My son loves Lego and especially loves the big complex builds and this definitely fits the bill (11.5 inches high & 11.5 inches wide, including the base)
Been at this for 3 days solid and nearly finished it, and from what I can see it’s a pretty impressive beast. Love the fact that it is also interactive with moving parts and able to fire missiles. Should be done in a day or two and got to say its been a pleasure to build and can’t wait to see the finished product.
This is a monster in two ways than one and as a collector of Lego you want the box in mint condition and because this is a huge box 19″ by 23″ the bag of lego inside slides to one end making it possible to crease the box in the middle. Because it was sent in a thin box with only paper at one end it’s got damaged. This is 229.99 at this time and if this was not free to review and I’d paid that amount it would be going straight back for a replacement. The Lego itself is fantastic as always and well worth the money in my opinion so I give a 5 star for the lego but 1 star for packing.
Ok this is amazing. I love lego and love the fact that my nephews are both now at the age where they also love it too, meaning I have every excuse to build loads of fun lego sets with them at every opportunity. This set is a bit of a departure and definitely the most difficult set I’ve made with them, but it’s seriously cool in the end. My nephews are 8 and 12 years old and honestly, this was way out of the 8 years old league and pushed the 12 year olds patience to the limit and he has just recently finished the Diagon Alley set, so he’s no stranger to big sets. I think if you are buying this for a younger child, expect to have to give them constant supervision and help whilst they build it, or even just basically building it for them and designating them smaller little tasks. The box says 18+ years old, but I think teenagers will be okay as long as they have the patience for sitting down and concentrating. In total it took me somewhere around 7-8 hours to build, but I think if you were building it together with a young child you could probably close to double that and easily extend it out to a full week or more with a couple of hours a night.
There are 22 bags of bits total and when you finish, the final model is about 12 inches tall and 16 inches wide, with the stand, so that is pretty massive! It’s properly solid and quite weighty but all the movements are amazing. Basically, inside there is a technics mechanism that moves the head up, down, left and right via a push mechanism on the side and pair of levers that are also able to open and close the mouth. It’s essentially like a lego puppet and it’s amazing. So many parts are movable like his wrists, hands, fingers, eyes, eyebrows etc. it’s just so tactile and kids will love playing with it. I think the way it moves like a puppet really invites kids to have fun with it, which is awesome.
This is the first black box, adult targeted lego that I have built and I love that even the instruction manual, which is huge by the way, I think around 350 pages, even comes with a history of Bowser in the Nintendo games and a timeline of his lego sets. It’s a really high level of polish. Let’s be real though, at this price, it should be polished. For the amount of fun and time it takes to build, though, I think it’s actually okay and a bit more understandable once you’ve built it. It is undoubtedly an epic lego set and the king of the Mario sets. It’s loads of fun and looks awesome. For a fan of lego Mario this is grail material and I’d say for any lego fan it is awesome and a huge amount of fun. Me and my nephews absolutely loved it.
