Having started sim racing in early 2023 I opted for a well-rounded, entry-level wheel rather than splash the cash on a direct drive without knowing how good (or bad) I would be. The G923 ticked all the boxes, so I snapped one up and immediately knew I’d made the right choice.
Set-up was simple; you can either use the double-clamp system to attach the wheel to a desk (which I initially did before I bought my Playseat) or screw underneath into a holding plate which many seats/rigs now have. The pedal set easily attaches to a seat/rig but also has grippers underneath if you’re starting out on carpet. Weight-wise it’s so much lighter than a direct drive wheel, so you have no issues with flexing or uneven weight distribution.
Setting up the G-Hub app was a doddle and it’s so simple to adjust the wheel rotation depending on what sim you’re playing (some sims automatically do this but some, like RaceRoom, don’t). It even updates the firmware for you so you don’t have to keep checking for updates.
The quality and feel of the wheel is spectacular. The leather wheel cover gives it a premium look and the brushed steel bezel and LED rev counter adds yet more pizazz. Yes, the more expensive direct drive wheels have a full LED screen etc, but for me this is more than enough. The paddle shifters behind the wheel are solid and large enough so that you never miss a gear change.
The double-clutch feature is also a hidden gem in this wheel. By holding in both paddle shifters and the L3/R3 buttons, you can configure the clutch for minimum wheelspin off the line.
Force feedback is more than adequate, given that it’s a gear/belt-driven wheel. You can really feel it over kerbs and you can just sense when the rear is about to step out or understeer into a corner. Yes it’s pretty loud, but if you have a headset on it shouldn’t make any difference.
The brake pedal has a firmness not far off a load-cell, and the further you push it the more resistance you feel. Trail-braking is a doddle. Plus you can alter the amount of pressure to the brake in order to achieve 100% brake pressure without having to push your foot firmly to the floor, which makes longer races that much more bearable.
I’ve been sim racing for just over a year now, and I still have my G923. I’ve gone from 5 lap sprints to the Spa 24 Hours using it, and not once have I questioned whether my wheel and pedals were up to the challenge. Just three days ago I competed in the Daytona 24 Hours on iRacing and my lap times were up there with the pro-level drivers.
Will I ever upgrade from the G923? Of course. But only if I win the lottery or get sponsored by an eSports team. Until then, my G923 is king.
Got for my PS4 using on my Simulator driving frame, only used on a few games and enjoyed, need to try more. But I can say the feel and the feedback are superb and would recommend this product.
Amazing steering wheel. Really well built and the force feedback is good. The only criticism is the break pedal is quite stiff but after while you get use it it. All in all can’t fault it. Would recommend to anyone.
After much research this seemed to be considered the best entry level racing steering wheels on the market. I think that is a fair assessment. Having not tried any others I do not have anything to gauge it against but for the price it seems a really great piece of kit. Makes for a much better a more realistic driving experience.
Nice wheel from logitech the true force is brilliant and it will only get better once more games include a profile for this model instead of you having to set it up yourself.
Everything about this beautiful bit of kit is exceptional. Feedback like an F1 race director. Easier to use than door handle, speaking of doors it opens up a whole new world of racing. Flappy paddles fit the hand like Roman grosjeans gloves. Proper bit of kit !
easy to assemble.I would say a bit expensive for the quality of the materials compared to the money you pay. but I think it’s worth 4 stars compared to other steering wheels.
Highly recommended.
The wheel and pedals works really well with iRacing, Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione. It doesnt seem to work well with Forza but i suspect thats more forza’s issue. This set is expensive but its a hell of a lot cheaper than getting a pro steering wheel and pedal set which could run into thousands of pounds (fanatec for example).
Very responsive force feedback on the wheel, the buttons are a little wiggly but they have a satisfying and responsive click to them, so no complaints there.
The pedals are well built and sturdy, the keep their place on the floor even when flooring it, but you might not do the same when using the brake. The accelerator and clutch are fine, but the brake pedal is unbelievably stiff and shows no sign of breaking in, so if you’re in a chair on wheels you may have a hard time slowing down without pushing yourself away from the desk. Consider investing in rubber glides for an office chair.
I use this for a couple of games one being F1 2021, and it’s incredibly responsive, I’ve used a couple of other steering wheel & pedal sets, but this one is the legitimate best of the ones I have used so far, I know that there’s more expensive ones out there that may have a premium price tag but negligible difference in performance, so I think this set is all round the best value for performance for the gamer who, like me is more casual than professional.
Bought it when I was drunk as would never have justified spending this much otherwise, but so pleased I did, as without doubt the best buy alongside the PlayStation you can buy, making a cockpit nex
Would have been nice if the supplied cables were longer instead of having to buy and place extensions.
I think having back-lit buttons would have need good too. Hard to find the buttons in the dark with feel.
The G923 is an improvement on the G920 though the changes are small. The benefits I feel is the “leather” wheel casing, it really helps to keep the grip of the wheel (probably better for sim racers, though I am using it for ETS2, ATS and Fern-/Tourist Bus so I can not comment beyond that, unfortunately. The brake pedal is a huge improvement and feels much more realistic and responsive.
Disappointment Logitech was set up, it came with no set-up info and took me an hour to get it to work in ETS2 and that involved watching a Youtube video to find out I needed to set it up via the Logitech G Hub, but once I did that it worked perfectly. If you’re looking for a great sim wheel I would recommend it, especially if you are starting if you want it for racing, for my use its perfect, does the price merit it, again if your starting in racing yes it is purely for the Dual Clutch, if your more serious and professional there is much better equipment out there.
Logitech though another great product. Please do a handbrake (so I can dispense with using a button.
It feels electronic. I’ve since learnt there are wheels that don’t have this issue. Its noisy if you’re trying to play in the morning and not wake anyone. You can circumvent this by turning off feedback. Feels fun with a vr headset though. If it’s your first wheel it’s ok. If it’s your second I’d spend a little extra for the not so electronic feely ones. Sturdy build quality. Strong feedback. LED is cool. Pedals are solid. But a little close to each other. The true force just didn’t have much of an impact. I owned a Driving force pro some years back and it impressed me. The only difference, seems to me, this has some light vibrations going on in the background. That just don’t translate very well. Not sure if it’s the game devs, not doing a good job, or the hardware itself. Underwhelming so far. Maybe that’ll change.
The 923 logitech steering wheel and pedals can be steering wheel only. Which is necessary for me as I’m paraplegic. Hand controls only. Excellent forcefeedback with wheel, can adjust to your own preference as well. Very easy clamping system to desk. Layout of buttons much better to see than original thrustmaster I bought and returned. Buttons weren’t as bright and harder to see when using other steering wheel. Totally different with logitech steering wheel. Yes it’s a shame I can’t do pedals and paid for them but at least I can enjoy more realistic driving with forcefeedback wheel. Plus I use Alfred bekker hand controls for my own car, push pull. so it’s similar setup. I have same pedals on steering wheel and it’s tiptronic – no clutch. Very popular setup with audi over past 16 years. I’ve owned 4 in past 26 years.
Build quality good. Nice grip. Shifters, well, shift as expected and are long enough to locate at full lock.
The feedback system is not quiet and might easily disturb someone in the next room or downstairs if you’ve got the wrong walls/floors.
(On PS4 with Gran Turismo Sport)
The steering resistance is good but the road/tyre feedback’s a bit odd sometimes – probably just a learning process as I adjust to the wheel.
Pedals are good, although the clutch is a little bit close – I tend to left foot brake in games and find myself catching the clutch every so often.
Logitech could supply optional brighter button caps or stickers as the black on black L2, L3, R2, R3 and Multifunction buttons are sometimes a little difficult to locate mid race.
I ordered the standard version at first, but it was faulty because it was VERY noisy when the wheel was at centre position. When I got the refund I decided to get the trueforce model and I have to say it feels better and so far it’s not as noisy although it does depend on the game a lot.
I have already shaved a few seconds of off every race I have done so far… I am no pro, but it’s definitely more fun and easier to control the vehicle then a console controller.
Pros.
Feels pretty good.
Built well, even thought it’s mostly plastic.
The calibration seems quieter then the non-trueforce model.
It was faster to set up and does not have the PS3/ps4-PC switch.
Cons.
Still noisy, probably because it’s plastic and hollow.
The brake is still STUPID stiff, but it’s easy to MOD.
The software leaves much to be desired as it doesn’t even know what game I am playing 80% of the time.
Still had to manually install the driver.
Overall if you are wondering if the price difference is worth it… I will say no, no it’s not.
But it is fun so…
I have had a driving license for 26 years with full no claims, no accidents and I was a multidrop driver and a 7.5 tonne freezer truck driver for a while. If that makes any difference. 🙂
Upgraded from g29.you can certainly feel the difference.new spring in brake pedal is tons better …can sound a bit noisier than g29 but with improved lap times it makes up for it..seems to have given me more confidence when racing you feel everything …bit pricey but worth i
