These are great straighteners they work in my thick curly afro hair effortlessly, it leaves my hair soft and silky.
The only downside to these is that the size of them make it difficult to really get to the root of the hair as they are quite bulky so once I have put them all over I still need to go in with my other one I have which is slimmer to get the roots done properly. But these definitely save me time compared to my other straightener.
Honestly, it’s the best hair straightener i had so far. My hair is very wild, doesn’t style ever how i wish and its a texture more like dry and frizzy. This straightener had done wonders on my hair that i couldn’t tame with any other straightener before. It’s quite expesive but you get the valur for money from it.
It’s an expensive piece of kit and I can’t see where it differs from cheaper alternative brands but it’s a gift I was asked to get and I got it. I am told they’re very happy with it. I would suggest many YouTube videos to get the hang of using it.
I first came across these straiteners in my hairdressers, when he used them on my hair ,he recommended them to me ,they left my hair unbelievably soft and shiny because they use steam as well as the usually plates ,they aren’t cheap ,but if you want quality you have to pay for it ,they are a little heavier than normal straiteners but still manageable don’t know how I’ve lived without them all these years
Just amazing! I have a few straitened including the top brands but nothing comes close to this one! I have a freeze prone hair and my stile usually wouldn’t last a day but with steampod my hair are straight, shiny and soft until the next wash. Not even the office air conditioner can change that! Would highly recommend.
Benefits for me are I no longer have to blow dry my hair. I leave it free to frizz away to its hearts content, then when it’s (fully) dry, I give it a brush and use the steampod. The results are great, it gives an amazing salon finish and my hair goes from frizz to soft and silky. What’s important is it stays that way for a day and almost two afterwards.
Only downfall for me would be price, I bought a warehouse damaged product and the price was significantly lower because of cosmetic damaging to the box and the box was repackaged. The product itself remains perfect so I highly recommend purchasing used condition of this item if it’s Sold By and Dispatch By Amazon.
It’s quite heavy and awkward and big (all not great qualities for travelling) but I’ll still be making room – let’s put it that way 🙂
4/5 from me
My favourite straighteners are Cloud Nine which I think are even better than GHDs. My hairdresser used the professional version of the steam pod and there was a significant difference. The difference is because of the steam rather than the plates. The quality of the product itself isn’t amazing. But the steam makes a difference to the feel of the hair, as well as preventing frizzy hair. Now, when you live in a country with high moisture like UK, anything anti frizz is really valuable. I also have platinum white hair which gets dry and brittle and I have found that this straightener helps make it about 20% softer than my usual straighteners.
Overall I don’t feel the product itself is worth the money I paid for it, and I feel I’ve paid for the innovative technology rather than the actual quality of the plates and the product which is plasticky and it’s not as robust as a high end straightener. Also the amount of steam released is a LOT LESS than the professional version so the results are not as good as the salon one.
… Steampod is an amazing, well built and solid. Despite some people may find it a little bit bulky, when I tried it it was quite easy (the comb inserter really helps). The water tank lasted for all my hair and actually there was one third left.
The problem is that my hair ends are damaged by highlights and while the roots and mid lenghts lasted all night and actually also resisted to a light rain without getting fizzy, the friction with the pillow completely affected my ends. Unfortunately Steampod could not do any miracles for my ends. If I have had my natural fizzy unbleached hair, it would have totally work.
In summary my two cents are:
– if you have fizzy hair, the steam will do the trick and you’ll have wonderful shiny hair
if your hair is damaged, I am afraid no miracle will be in sight.
I have thick wavy (sometimes curly) heat & dye damaged hair. I’ve had so many straighteners over the years. Lately I’ve given up on ever having nice straight hair and decided to ’embrace my curls’, but instead I ended up with a head full of uncontrollable frizz. I decided to give straightening one last go before chopping the whole lot off. I read all the reviews and top tens, and decided that this one sounded like it might be a bit gentler on my already frazzled hair. It was a bit pricy, but if it worked then it would be worth it. It arrived yesterday, and I had my first go with it this morning. At first it felt a bit heavy and chunky compared to my old GHDs, but the fact is, you don’t have to hold it for that long because it straightens so quickly! The comb is also a nice addition as it removes that step from my routine, so instead of alternating between a regular comb & straightener, it does the job all in one go, which again reduces the time it takes. I’m pretty impressed with the results – my hair is dead straight and actually looks glossy and shiny, with no frizz in sight, and this is without even using any product! My only gripes are that it’s a little tricky if you have a fringe (as I do), and that it’s a bit noisy, but I guess that’s to be expected with a steam product, and really these are such small prices to pay for having great hair!
Easy to use and great for curls. For the price I would have expected a bag or heat mat to be in the box. You can’t use regular water or it will destroy the straightener it needs to be demineralised but Tesco do a large bottle of it for a couple of quid.
I’ve been using hair straighteners since I was a teen and let me tell you, the Steampod is a game changer! My hair looks and feels so soft and healthy, I combined my routine with the Steampod thick hair product. As someone with extremely thick and unruly hair this’s changed my life. I received so many compliments after only just a few days of use! It’s extremely easy to use albeit I wouldn’t use it for “curling” your hair, because the plates are quite chunky. My hair lasted through steamy and humid weather conditions too, so that’s a bonus.
Im not one to leave reviews but this certainly deserves a good one.
I have done so much research on what ones I wanted and I have read pretty much every review of the GHD platinum and Dyson but decided I wanted to try these as the reviews were amazing.
The Steampod claims to not damage your hair nearly as much as typical flat iron ones. I have the babyliss diamond and try to use a heat of 180 but end up having to go up to 200+ to get a sleek look which ends up bad for my hair.
Today I tried my new Steampod 3.0 and couldn’t believe how straight and sleek they made my hair with only one length. They are easy to use , smooth, solid and left my hair feeling so soft and sleek without even having to add any finishing products. I definitely won’t be going back to flat dry irons and am looking forward to my hair being in such better condition. Thank you L’Oral
I bought it and is perfect for straightening hair like the saloon without lot of Issues. Mine is already very straight but removes those fizzy things . I don’t really like for curls I prefer other one but If the goal is straight I really like it is perfect.
I have medium thickness curly hair and have been using straighteners on a daily basis for 10+ years. Initially, I was disappointed by this straightener because I found it heavy and hard to use. However, after giving it some time and watching some videos, I am so happy with this purchase. My hair looks so much healthier now (the curls are back!) and after I use it, my hair still smells like shampoo and not like a dead insect like with typical straighteners. Best present I have done to my hair! This straightener works better for a full straight look rather than wavy.
I am not sure if its working properly.I can see no steam at all coming through while using it.is it normal?unfortunately there is no choice to contact the seller.
If you are debating whether to get this machine don’t, I have very curly hair and have always used GHD straightener
My husband always complained about the burning smell while using them. I am 100% converted to these steam pod’s, people have commented on the shine of my hair, just like I had just came from a hairdresser. Buy them, you won’t regret i
My GHDs were years old and not doing as good of a job to straighten my hair as they used to. The steampod was recommended to me by a hairdresser friend but I didn’t really want to spend that much. I managed to bag a bargain on Amazon prime day and I have to say I am so impressed. My hair is very fluffy when blowdryed these take out all that fly away fluffyness and it stays straight for days with no need to touch up unless I’ve had it tied up or got sweaty in the gym and got slight waves around my neck. I would recommend them to anyway who’s on the fence, you won’t regret it!
Honestly my hair feels smoother once I’m done straightening than before I started. I have quite fine thin hair that gets damaged easily so wanted something that was a bit more gentle than normal straighteners and these work great and my hair feels amazing after use. They also work great for curling with a bit of practice to get the knack for i
These straighteners are amazing . I had been looking at them for quite a while and when they came up with a good reduction on prime day I bought them I have not been disappointed even though they are expensive. They replaced some old ( very good ) GHD ones. The difference is the speed I can do my shoulder length Bob, the lovely texture left after using and it seems to last a few days which is amazing. I don’t have the fluffy look that sometimes happened in damp weather with previous ones. Overall an expensive item but the shiny hair I have that is very straight is worth i
I’ve long been a convert to the L’Oral Steampod,as it is produces better results than any straighteners I’ve used, and doesn’t cause the damage..
So I was intrigued to see what this incarnation could do…especially as its dearer than it’s predecessors..
The first thing that’s been improved is the inbuilt water well..which is less cumbersome…
The lead seems to rotate with the Steampod now which makes it much easier to use.
Overall I would recommend a Steampod because it leaves your hair smoother and straighter is less time than straighteners..its less damaging and you don’t have to have your hair bone dry to use…
Only downside is that it is chunky to handle…but you get used to it..and its benefits far outweigh this…
I have long hair so can’t comment on use on short hair.
Having done a bit of research with online reviews of steam straighteners, I took the plunge and bought these even though they were more expensive than most, but got them from Amazon warehouse so that reduced the cost a bit. Love the results I get from them, my hair is lovely soft and smooth and it lasts longer than my previous straighteners. It also takes less time to achieve great results! Love them, love the results
I am 56yrs old have red, naturally frizzy dry hair. That said, when I use straighteners I have to go over and over again with my normal steam straighteners and I found without a doubt that the steam helped lessen the damage on my hair. I purchased the Loreal straighteners not believing they could be any better, I mean, how can they cost 230 OH MY GOODNESS ……Im speechless they are quick, light easy to use, and the results after one glide…GLIDE through my hair and the results are so smooth so shiny almost looks like a wig….in a good way a very good way. Why didnt I see these before took me 10 minutes to straightener my hair, normally twice that time, and the curls were so so very good. I was able to run my fingers through the curls afterwards and they bounced back. Also my hair wasnt hot…weirdly ….Normally its too hot to touch but on 180 they are just magic, so very happy very very happy Thank you xxxx
I’m glad I bought this tool, it leaves hair v straight and shiny. And I have quite thick hair. It also is quicker to use than a GHD straightener. Normally my hair could take 45 mins to straighten with a regular straightener, but with this it takes 15-20 mins. It does make a slight noise when using it, but you get used to it. The one flaw is that you have to go a certain direction when using it, and there are arrows on the tool to help you with this. So if you go the wrong direction it can pull your hair awkwardly. But this is something you get better with over time/the more you use it. This is especially good for thick hair.
My hair is quite frizzy and curly, and a normal ghd doesnt cut it. Even with all the fancy products and syrums could never get it smooth. I have used this once and it trumps the ghd my hair is so soft smooth, just need to take smaller clumps cause it gets caught in the frizz. Only bad thing is, might be the way I hold it but the water compartment pops out. Which is annoying, but I still love it!!
