Wasn’t going to get this as it didn’t get that much good press pre launch and previews weren’t that good.

I tried the 2hr demo on PSplus and was Hooked. Amazon had it at around half the price of the PS store too.

I’ve been playing it every day since. It’s an RPG/Card based/Strategy game but with so much to do, friendships to build, heroes to upgrade, mysteries to solve (yes, who knew?!)

Huge game, battles are a bit samey after a while but the combos you can do by taking different teams into battle make it fresh.

The script is worth it alone. Some Top Gun levels of male bonding going on with this one.

Great graphics, music and voice acting, a refreshing change story wise too from the overused avengers, etc (I didn’t much about midnight suns’ comic history hence it feeling fresh) , also the x-com style battles are unusually fun considering I don’t usually like that type of game. Lots of fun exploring of the heroes’ mansion/hub area too. I’d definitely recommend the game!

Brilliant card strategy game. It also has great a story. Cannot understand why this game is not selling more?

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersMidnight Suns is a fun card-based tactics game.

The universe is based more on the comics than the MCU, and gives the spotlight to some of the less well-known Marvel characters, like Magik, Nico and Robbie Reyes while introducing fan faves like Iron Man and Spiderman. There are loads of references (power-man, hank pym, fantastic four), and comic-inspired collectables to discover – although some are behind a paywall.

Generally, the game develops the characters in a consistent and likeable manner.

There are also areas to explore between the missions within The Abbey’s grounds. It is set up Persona style, where you have hangouts, mini-events to discover resources, or apply boosts, and research to upgrade stuff. It’s not quite on Persona’s level but it is still an enjoyable way to get to know the characters.

On the downside, the main campaign felt a little short. I definitely wanted more. I was also disappointed at the number of villains that made an appearance. You’ll only really encounter four / bosses from the comics in gameplay – though there are more lurking around the fringes. So very disappointing on the Rogues gallery.

You’ll only get maps from three locations. There is a subset of missions like stopping the truck, defeating so many enemies or protecting the equipment. The variety isn’t massive and might get repetitive quickly for people that want to collect and unlock everything.

They also introduced The Hulk late in the game, and Banner doesn’t really have any friendship levels due to this. A major powerhouse of a character though, but you’ll really only use Hulk in a new game plus.

Despite this, it is a solid game with a good story, fun gameplay and is great for comic fans.
