I purchased the Medela Swing Maxi breast pump as a travel pump, as we were renting a Medela Symphony to use at home. After one week with the Swing Maxi we returned the Symphony. The suction power is comparable but the fact that it is battery powered makes is super convenient!
My wife is able to walk around the house while pumping, the suction is strong and the battery lasts a good few days in between charges. We also have a Medela bustier which makes it hands free as well!
Would definitely recommend!
my baby has been EBF since birth she’s now 8 months. this pump came with my to college from 1 month Post Partum up till two months ago. it kept my supply up and kept my baby fed easy to use good battery and perfect suction. also easy to sterilise
There is a reason Medela pumps cost more, I have tried four other brands and these are the only ones that work for me! Maybe I am sensitive, but other types are very painful to use even on the lowest settings while the Medela empties my milk without hurting. It’s also quieter than any others I’ve tried. The pump is straightforward to put together, use and clean. The charge only lasts about three pumping sessions (about one hour of pumping), but it recharges quickly.
Also customer service is amazing and my defective pump was replaced quickly, the replacement was delivered within 24 hours of my complaint.
Really liked this pump. It helped me a lot in the first couple of days when my breasts were too hard for baby to latch on. The battery lasts at least 7 pumps of 15-20min. Very easy to take it with me wherever I go. Easy to clean too. Just annoying you have to hold it on your breast the whole time, compared to the rubber collector that keeps itself attached. Overall really good, would recommend.
Initially started renting a hospital grade Medela for the first two weeks after giving birth and moved onto this one at the end of that period. This is a great pump, very efficient, great size and can move around the flat without being tied to wires. Definitely recommend!
Suggest getting the Medela bra too so you don’t have to hold the bottles whilst you pump.
Love it. Does the job. The only thing I would change is the shield nipple size. I am not sure why medela starts from 21 mm while average nipple size is 19mm.. you can get shields from diffent companies that will work with your medela pump
I did a lot of research for the best electric breast pump, this one kept coming up and I can see why. Easy to use, great to maintain, highly recommend.
The item came charged and I took advantage right away by expressing some milk for my newborn. The pump has several modes that make it intuitive and straightforward to plan ahead the milk expressing sessions versus the breastfeeding sessions. The suction caps included in the set are a perfect fit for me and the bottles are suitable for expressing milk during the first weeks after giving birth. What I would love to have is a box or purse for travelling to keep the kit in one place but that’s something I should figure myself.
I haven’t had a chance to use it as I am still pregnant but it’s super easy to set up not too many parts to wash. It is quite and power seems great. Definitely better than my elvis I had
A great pump with good suction and easy to assemble and clean. However the battery lost its life very quickly after purchasing and only using a few times, so sadly returned and bought a hands free elvie instead- not as good suction but much more convenie
This product is great for what it is supposed to do.
My only issue is that wearing both at once is heavy enough and has cause me some upper back pain. It’s hard to sit in a good posture as then the milk fills up in the tubes of the shield.
This wouldn’t put me off the item but just thought I’d mention incase it would discourage anyone else 🙂
Medela is the make I used whilst in the hospital so I knew this one would be good too.
It will take a few times to get used to it, you can change the suction power gradually to express more milk but I would suggest doing this gradually.
There is a little leakage but not tons. Thus is why 4 and not 5.
Its easy to was, breaks down into easy to clean parts and you can pop in steriliser DO NOT PUT TUBES IN STERILISERS OR MICROWAVES Etc.
It’s worth buying a good breast pump rather than 5 mediocre ones.
This Medela Swing Maxi double electric breast pump is probably one of the best pumps out there in my opinion. I have used the Elvie pump in the past, which is great for wearability and being able to work and pump at the same time, however, the amount of milk I can pump in one session is far less than when I use this Medela swim pump.
This Medela pump, when fully charged last me a good 6-7 sessions of expressing milk. Which is pretty impressive. When you run out of charge you can also just plug it in and pump at the same time. The pump charges using USB-C. You have to charge it for about 2 hours before your first use.
The pump is easy to disassemble and you can either handwash the parts or just chuck them into the dishwasher. Then you can sanitise the parts by boiling them or microwaving them (not the tubes though!)
Once you start pumping, the pump will start off on a simulation setting to get the flow going and once you’ve got that letdown, you can switch to the expression mode to start pumping the milk. While pumping you can increase or decrease the vacuum setting to get the perfect flow.
I would also recommend an expressing/pumping bra, so you can wear the pump without having to hold on to it, this way you can actually get some work done while pumping!
We have recently finished using breast milk after a period of around 4 months of mixed feeding and my partner has been using this pump as she struggled to feed naturally and was recommended to try this out by our aftercare specialist. Although more pricy than some of the pump kits, first thing we noticed was how easy it was to clean and sterilise after use with all the kit and components being easy to break down and individually rinsed and then put through sterilisation. in terms of the pump itself the battery was more than adequate for several sessions and recharged quickly and easily using a norma USB C Connection. My partner had prior to this struggled to maintain consistency in volume but although this didn’t initially yield a great volume, she found that she quickly got used to it and had success by pumping in a pretty regular pattern. Its the kind of product that is different for different people, but what I can see is that the quality of the kit is clearly there and it is a better long term investment if you intend to have another child.
This double electric breast pump its very good for traveling because its compact and because
with a full charge you can have at least 5-6 suction sessions. The kit its coming with everything
you need to express milk. The kit its easy to put together but you need to follow all the steps
carefully because you can have problems like leaks or loosing suction power. The suction power
its adjustable so you can choose which level its good for you and makes you feel comfortable .
Actually the suction rhythm it mimics the baby so the mum can be more relaxed and express the
milk easily.
The shield that comes over the breast its smooth and flexible and the mount attached to the bottle
it can be turn as you wish to suit you position.
All the parts apart from main unit they can be washed by hand or they can be placed in the
dishwasher.
The kit its charging and its coming with a usb type C cable which I’m glad because the old
micro-usb its so outdated and they broke so easy.
Do you have a baby? Need a breast pump?
This is Medela Swing Maxi Double Electric Breast Pump – USB-Chargeable, More Milk in Less Time, Featuring PersonalFit Flex shields and Medela 2-Phase Expression Technology.
It is good but quite loud.
It is made out of plastic and rubber.
This 2021 model has built in batteries; you charge using the USB cable.
The double pump can be used as a single pump.
The USB power adapter is included. The rechargeable battery lasts 1.5 hours; this will fade over time.
There are two shield sizes included – 24mm and 21mm.
The suction cups have a comfortable soft rim. They are oval for a better fit.
There are 9 adjustable levels.
There are 4 buttons to control the functions; they are intuitive to use.
My little one is almost two now and she only breastfeeds once a day and I pump once more to ensure I keep up my milk levels and to offer her a bottle of breastmilk at night. So I far I have tried two other much cheaper (around 60 pounds each) breast pumps. I wish someone had told me to invest in a more expensive pump. The difference in performance is noticeable. It would have made a big difference in the early stages of breastfeeding, saving me time and increasing my milk production.
Firstly let’s start by saying this pump is very modern looking. I like the sleek design and how sturdy and portable the power unit is. It charges with a USB cable quite quickly. The charge lasts for about a week (I pump once a day as mentioned for about 20 to 30 minutes at a time). If you breastfeeding/pump as much as I used to in the first year you’d need to charge it about once a day or every other day.
It came with two pumps, 4 breast shields in two different sizes small and medium. The difference in the sizing isn’t huge but it makes a big difference. I have medium sized nipples and the size M was just a perfect fit. I wish I could take a photo (I don’t think it’s allowed here) but really finding the perfect sized nipple cup has made pumping more efficient and comfortable. Using this one the past three weeks I produced significantly more milk than with my old pumps. I think the reason is the perfect cup fit and that the suction power is very strong. It has multiple speeds to choose from. My little one has always been an aggressive feeder on my breasts so they are a bit desensitised. This pump mimics exactly her sucking for stimulating the milk production and then the actual expression. This 2-phase technology isn’t as unique as marketed here (even my cheaper pumps have it) but it is much more powerful and feels real.
The only minus is the noise. It’s quite loud in my opinion and it can be a little off putting if you’re only starting in your pumping journey. I recommend holding your baby or their image in mind and putting on some soothing music if it bothers you. As with all pumps cleaning is a bit of a pain, but you can’t get out of doing that really.
The double pump is great for someone who mainly pumps rather than breastfeeds directly as it can make the process faster and efficient. Also, if you are concerned about milk supply and need to pump in between feeds. In the first year I pumped as the baby fed on one breast and vice versa so if that’s what you do too,the single pump might be more appropriate and will save you some money.
I definitely recommend this pump. It is pricey but absolutely worth the hype. I think that it’s not as quiet as it promises but the actual super silent ones I’ve seen on the market are even double the price. So that all depends on your budget.
This breast pump has a thick brand and its cost is very high.
I tried on my skin, or rather on my breasts, its potential. It is light and not bulky, allows you to pump the milk while standing up and is easily transported.
Extremely easy to clean, by removing the motor you can put everything in the sterilizer.
No nipple pain that will not be affected in any way by the draft. The feeding movement is quite similar to that of the newborn and this translates into comfort.
You can decide the speed of the draft and can be used with one hand.
It works with electricity and there is the possibility of charging it with a USB socket or using the integrated rechargeable battery, I have taken it everywhere.
It is not noisy. Really high build quality.
The engine is very powerful despite its size.
This is for use by my daughter but the baby isn’t due until August, so I can’t yet comment on performance. We’re impressed with what we see, though. The unit seems well-designed and made to a high standard, as you’d expect of a Swiss product. The instructions are well-written and it seems easy to use.
The rechargeable battery is very welcome, with USB-C charging, and the pump is surprisingly lightweight, so you can get on with other jobs while expressing. We don’t feel we can award five stars until the pump has been put to use, but nor can I justify awarding fewer than four for now.
