Excellent but expensive product. You do however in this case get quality which is what you are paying for.
The Microsoft Surface keyboard performs as it should.
The keyboard connects immediately it magnets make contact.
The backlit keyboard lights up automatically in poor or no light conditions.
My only disappointment being this keyboard doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner.
This is a UK keyboard, unlike the images in the product posting. Fast delivery, work fine so far. Last one died after 3 years. How convinient right? I was searching for a quick fix to get the North American version, saw this one, and received a UK version.
The keyboard is great. Nice feel when typing with good travel on the keys. Nice integration with the surface pro 8, detecting when the keyboard is attached/folded back etc. Pen charging slot is nice. It is pretty pricy but a must have for me.
Does what it says clip on keyboard for surface pro 8 pen tray, and protects screen when closed i did like late keyboard is back lit for low light typing
Works well, however, keys feel missalighned. In particular, the letter A and S. (The S is pressed where you would naturally feel the A should be).
Premises: the keyboard is well made. The underside is made out of some kind of cloth, which protects the entire tablet when closed but if it gets dirty, it’s hard to clean. The palm rests are made out of alcantara, which I personally don’t like (but others do), and I know that time is unforgiving to this material. The keycaps do have a layer of rubber on them, and you know how things go with rubber.
The typing experience is actually surprisingly good, if you’re going to use the keyboard in the “lifted” mode. If you prefer to use the keyboard in the “flattened” mode, the keyboard is all wobbly and totally unsatisfying to write on. The backlit is great.
The touchpad is a classic mechanical one, and it’s just as good as it can be.
There are two things that were just annoying about this keyboard:
When you’re using it in “lifted” mode, the keyboard sits exactly on the tablet bottom bezel. Touching the app bar will inevitably touch the keyboard. This is good looking, but, well.. a little uncomfortable.
The other downside is that when you flip the entire thing over the tablet to use the surface as a tablet, the connector on the bottom side of the tablet will interfere with your wrist and thus with the writing process, making it *really* annoying. I have to detach the keyboard to get comfy in writing.
Last two points: the pen slot works as intended, and remember that when the keyboard is flipped to use the surface in tablet mode the keyboard and its fragile materials are completely exposed.
The keyboard/cover arrived as stated and was very well packaged. The keyboard works fine for typing, but the touch pad is a bit odd to use, certainly after using an Apple touch pad. You have to be careful to use the correct half for functions. I am not sure the pen holder is much use, I prefer the magnetic attachment.
