I ordered this case as well as Spigen’s so I’d be able to compare the two side by side. I’m really impressed with the build quality of this one, and was very disappointed with the poor in-hand quality of the Spigen. This case feels sturdy in hand, and I like the middle placement of the kickstand. The grip texture on the handles offers good purchase without being too aggressive or slippery. The overall anesthetics are, in my opinion, good without going too far into GAMERZ territory. I think the inclusion of the see through backside is neat. Overall a great value for your money, and it fits inside the official steam case, which is a major plus. As far as I can tell the case doesn’t mash the thumbsticks, but YMMV
Awesome grip love the handles and the kickstand. The kickstand being thicker and in the middle was the seller for me it makes it more sturdy. Also the USB port isn’t covered up or difficult to get the cables plugged in.
I’d originally written a negative review about how this case doesn’t fit the Deck very well; I had a large gap between the top edge of the Deck and this case. It turns out that, despite what some reviews say, you shouldn’t try to fit the Mumba case into the official Valve carrying case that comes with the Deck. It’s too tight of a fit – It presses on the case in a strange way and causes it to deform, creating that gap, even though you can zip the case shut without any extra effort. After leaving the Mumba case off of the Deck for a few days and trying it again, everything fits like it should. I ended up buying an OwlTree brand carrying case that gives a bit more room, and the Mumba case hasn’t deformed at all since.
I’ve tried about three cases for the Deck. This is the most comfortable one, by far, and offers a good balance between protection and usability. If you’re a responsible adult, this case should be more than adequate. Most angles at which you could drop the Deck will have solid protection with this case. The weak points, really, would be the triggers and the front face of the Deck, but those are hard to protect anyway since they need to be reachable by user. The uncovered triggers means L1 and R1 are easier to press than some other cases, and games that make heavy use of them are much better with this case than with ones that try to cover the triggers. The front isn’t completely covered, with only a slight lip around the screen, and the design of the Deck means that a case can’t do much about this; the analog sticks would take the brunt of any face-down fall onto a flat surface.
The kickstand could be stronger, but if you’re gentle when opening and closing it, it seems sturdy enough. Again, if you’re a responsible adult, it’ll work just fine. The volume and power buttons are easy to press, and the cutout for the USB port fits the official Valve dock’s connector just fine (though you’ll need a 3rd-party adapter to fit the Deck itself on the dock with this case; I have a Jsaux one). A right-angle USB cable, though, may have problems depending on the cable’s design. The case doesn’t have any oversized branding, giving it a more tasteful appearance than some others. The material is less slippery than the plastic the Deck is made of, too, which is nice for comfort on longer sessions.
I’m very happy with this case. Just don’t try to shove it into Valve’s carrying case. It doesn’t fit.
I buy Mumba for everything I own they have the best cases on the market. It would be nice if they had more colors though
Not intrusive nor does it affect the ability to use the case. Feels fine not sure about protection haven’t dropped i
I went through 3 other cases before getting this one. This one is finally what I wanted and it even has a kick stand. The empty spots by the R1 and L1 make it so you can press it easy. Other cases made it harder to press when it is covered near there. The raised buttons make it easy to press the volume and power. Overall it’s a great case.
Buena calidad por el precio y la instalacin es sper simple, el nico pequeo detalle que vera, es que hace que quede un poco ajustado al meterlo al case original
Fits great and has very sturdy stand for when standing steam deck up. Will not fit in original case due to size though. other than that it’s great and highly recommended.
Great product, been using mumba for nintendo switch cases for years. The steam deck version is even better and offers great protection from dropping. Feels great to use as well
Another top quality case from mumba, looks and feels good. Doesnt fit official valve dock ofcourse but on jsaux dock it fits
When is the carrying case designed for this case coming out? I need to buy one.
Edit: Mumba case can fit into the original steam deck carrying case!
I bought two mamba cases for my switch and they did an excellent job, so seeing that this company made one for the steam deck caught my attention. The case itself is very bulky that it’s very hard to push down on my heavy duty case. But it does it’s job because this case is extremely tough. I’m confident enough to put down my steam deck without fear of the back being scratched now. And also mentioning that there is a nice kick stand that helps ventilate the fan in the back.
