Honestly it’s not a bad game, ignore the negativity and give it a go! The handling takes some getting used to I will admit but that’s just expected after all the recent Need For Speeds. The anime/cartoon thing might not be for everyone, I was skeptical but it’s just a new direction so it’s something fresh. Customisation is great and the cars models and sounds are good as always! I’m still playing it now checking out the new updates too
The game actually caught me off guard it was given to me as a birthday present and my initial thoughts were oh no not another crappy NFS game as recent titles have been appallingly bad. This one though its actually really good and involving only thing I don’t much care about are the silly cartoon graphics and smoke effects would be perfect without that rubbish. Overall a really good game.
My son wanted this game from the PlayStation store, they wanted to charge 70 for the digital download! Got this (disc version) for 35 and delivered free (with Prime) the same day. Can’t go wrong, game was factory sealed and in perfect condition.
Looks like the old and good NFS is gone 🙂 This one is different then what I used to know about NFS. In my opinion the old one is much better.
Such a good game but it’s really tough – mainly finding and earning money early on. I love playing it. Best racing game in years. Be aware that there is casual profanity in this game that cannot be turned off.
Should have pre-ordered but was very sceptical purely the cartoonised graphics but they make the the game play amazing and not too serious specially with the cops chases wow soo hard but fun at the same time 80% in to completing only got busted 1 time lol because by the time the timer starts counting dwn you basically out off there absolute brilliant game to the point where I baught the other add ons recommended
Haven’t played Need For Speed as such since Payback was released a few years ago, I thought I give Unbound a try.
Firstly the graphics look quite good, it’s refreshing a play a NFS game in 60 Frames per second, I do like the cartoon/anime style on the characters and racing effects, it’s different which I can respect Criterion Games for taking that chance.
However the story is bland and poor, it’s basically trying to get your car back from a “friend”, there’s nothing really that exciting that happens from a storyline point of view.
This also reflects on the characters, there wasn’t really anything of note that made the characters interesting which is a shame.
Racing is quite good, though the handing can be a bit tricky which can be changed in the settings or the garage/safe houses, customization is excellent where you can change most parts of your car, including upgrading a car to a higher spec.
While this game is a improvement from the likes of NFS Heat, it does lack a good story as well as multiplayer missing some features at time of this review.
One of the best ones yet others were too short .
Its a game but the 18yo seems to like it!!
More fun than GT7 and better, way harder and more satisfying career progression. Great roster of supercars with best customisation of the genre.
So glad they went with criterion for this nfs and it being this gen only. Certainly miles better than NFS heat that was capped at 30fps which just feels terrible for a racing game. I’d recommend this but it can be a drag repeating racer for me, it’s pretty heavy on the grinding for cash to improve your car specs. But all in all it feels like nfs is in the right track now, hopefully they will keep giving it to criterion. B+
Not quite the next NFS Underground but it comes close in places. Good handling of the cars (in an arcade-y way) and the graphics are pretty good. In the previews the little cartoony effects when wheel-spinning, flying, boosting, drifting, etc… offended a lot of people but they didn’t really bother me – and they can be turned off anyways! They serve as a good indicator of what other cars are doing anyways.
The story is fairly generic and cliched but I am enjoying it. There is this annoying AI that always keeps drivers a certain distance from you, from time to time – for example – I am using nitrous oxide and they aren’t but they still stay a set distance from me. It is a bit annoying but they have done this in the past few NFS games too. Decent enough customisation options, in terms of looks and performance, as well as many different cars to buy that can be tweaked. Overall, I am impressed with it and would recommend.
Much better entry to the series than NFS heat. Great campaign full with style.
I was sceptical about buying this game due to the graphical changes and the fact the last few nfs had been poor offerings.
However, this game is the most fun I’ve had since the underground and MW days. I’m 34 so I’ve experienced them all. Didn’t like the drifting constantly, fine switch it off and grip corner. Need a car for a drift event? All controls on max.
Customisation? Brilliant, big variety for visual styling, sounds, performance and the effects ( which I use as they compliment the game well.
Cops are fair game at challenging mode and easy to outrun if your smart and remember that your B class car won’t survive 5 star heat.
Story seems a bit more interesting, they’ve never been Hollywood scripts, don’t know why people expect this from EA.
One negative is it is a grind to earn money, but if you don’t need 5 cars after 2 races, choose a car to get going, modify it and build a bond with it. Appreciate your build.
In a nutshell, if your looking for a fun arcade game then look no further, if your looking for sim then stick with forza or GT. Great colours, customisation and enjoyable racing make me give this a solid 7.5 out of 10.
Huge fan of this one, grip handling is actually possible. Brake to drift if that’s how you’d rather is still there.
Great music, car selection, top in class customization and so much more fun than Forza
I was thinking the game will be next medicote nfs but suprise. Game is very good.
