I have used electric toothbrushes for many years.
This toothbrush is expensive BUT worth it! Deep cleans your teeth and mouth. The polish is very noticeable. Very easy to use. Gives you results of how you brushed your teeth.
Once you get your head round using it, its great. Leaves your mouth feel feel fresh. Before I had a sonicare and really think this is an upgrade. Be careful when setting it up as it took me a while to work out how to get it back to English.
I purchased this as an upgrade replacement for my Oral-b iO5 which broke due to the app and brush firmware updating (have left full review regarding that).
Out of the box it is excellent, as with all the iO range the brushing and the post brush feeling is excellent. The magnetic charger which chargers the handle in 3 hours is very useful.
Using the app with the app can be a bit fidgety but you will get used to it after a few brushes.
I would thoroughly recommend anyone to get one of these.
Oh no, this toothbrush is the bee’s knees. The Lamborghini of toothbrushes, the type of toothbrush that make’s heads turn. Sleek yet powerful, creating minty vortices in one’s mouth for a perfect clean… alas when I look back up to the bathroom mirror, I am unfortunately not greeted with a Tom Cruise veneered smile – but thats ok, I am just happy it could remove the chia seeds from between my teeth from the mornings elaborate, somewhat decadent porridge. Plus it came with four refills?? Stop it.
Great toothbrush, would recommend.
It can only be used for 5 days after being fully charged after about 7 months. Each time when about 50% of the power is used, it will stop suddenly, with no flashes of red.
A powerful toothbrush the i07. Although battery is just about 5 days. Travel wise not great as case can’t charge it like my other one.
Ok, I’m not sure what I was expecting it to do for 150. But I can’t say I’ve noticed a big improvement over my old 30 electric toothbrush. My teeth do feel clean, but i have to say, as always, that’s more down to technique than the toothbrush. For the price i wohld of expected maybe a little more precision or better heads perhaps. Having said that, it’s certainly not a bad purchase if you’re happy to pay the price. The battery life is good, design is sleek and the provided case is good for travel. But still, I would not recommend this toothbrush, for this price, although I would suggest it if it were a little more affordable.
This is a great brush, I love that it allows you to choose from various cleaning presets including daily, deep clean and whitening. Having a display showing those settings, displaying a timer and giving you a visual rating on your brushing at the end of each session is great.
Linking to the Oral B app it gets very detailed and tracks your brushing allowing you to know about areas you may have missed, or require more attention. However it is not perfect, numerous times it has failed to recognise exactly where I am brushing, sometimes thinking I am brushing my top left teeth when in fact I am brushing my top right, and failing to ever detect that. It will then give me a low rating at the end of the brushing session simply because it failed to detect exactly where I was brushing.
However when it works correctly it is great, it gives me confidence knowing I am doing it right and even my dentist has commented a notable improvement. I like to set a deep clean plan periodically in the app, when it tracks accurately it gives a rating and advice when needed how to further improve.
The brush is expensive for sure, but it is quieter and more efficient compared to my last Oral B brush and I feel it gives a deeper clean. My gripe would be that replacement heads are quite expensive to, but I can live with that.
Easy to use but after using the Philips soniccare for so long, found that the stem of the toothbrush head on the Oral B to be much thicker so just feels different to use.
I was told by the dentist to buy an electric because my gums were receding. I ordered the gentle brushes to go with it and wow what a difference! My teeth are in great condition and it’s like I’ve had a hygiene clean every day and my gums are much better. I’ve also noticed the sensitivity in my front teeth has improved. The timer really makes all the difference, the modes are customisable which I thought I wouldn’t use but I have. The magnet charger is great too. Highly recommend
If you’re buying this specifically for the smart features then give it a miss. It doesn’t track its position in your mouth very well and gets stuck showing the brush on one part of your mouth no matter what you do. However it does track your brushing without the app being on while you brush. The brush heads are great and seem to wash your teeth more than just brush them. They can be harsh when you use a new brush head though so be careful.
I bought this toothbrush because it was a Which Magazine best buy. Mine cost me 130 but in Boots it was on sale for 400, so be warned. I assume the toothbrush is keeping plaque at bay the way Which Magazine said it would, although of course one has no way of knowing. What is really useful about the brush is the fact that it keeps its charge for a couple of weeks so that if you’re travelling you don’t have to take the charger with you, and we all know how few power points there are in most hotel bedrooms. The only slightly irritating thing about it is the smooth handle finish. It means that in use when it gets wet, the thing can become quite slippery. It is certainly high tech. The base of the handle lights up if you’re not brushing away hard enough, and indeed it can go red if you go at it too hard. Quite a clever little thing, in fact.
After using the product for some time now I must say it is quite a significant upgrade from your regular handheld brush. The feature on the device seem to be endless, each with a use better than the last. The Brush interacts with the app and gives you achievements to work towards.(Perfect for those who struggle to remember to brush twice a day!) I have noticed a significant difference in the feel of my mouth through the period of time I have been using it. Very good product. Would highly recommend.
The power and performance of the brush is really good. Other brushes just didn’t brush at a high speed. You can tell by the spray it generates!
The down side is the app and Bluetooth. You need to have your phone and running when you brush. Which seems wrong way around. I would like it to store the data and when you connect your phone it uploads it. It’s initially a toy feature and missing huge potential.
Overall not bad, with areas of improvement but as a toothbrush it’s a good cleaner with lots of features – whitening, gum care, intense.
I bought this brush as it was rated highly on Which and my old brush needed an upgrade. Overall I’m impressed by the brush but like all things, there’s a couple of flaws.
Pros:
– battery life automatically shown after each use. I like being able to track it easily in this way.
– i have had this about 2 weeks and haven’t had to recharge since the first time yet, so pleased with the battery life
– the app is handy and helpful. I’m definitely brushing better when I use it
Cons:
– the design of the brush means that the handle to the brush tip is sleek which looks great but is impracticable when using the brush as water trickles down the brush and on to your hand
– it’s quite loud which may be off putting to some
This is a great toothbrush. Received 2 days ago and I cant fault it really. A lot of people have niggles about the mess dribbling down but if you hold your brush a little more upright then that doesn’t happen. Its functionality is simple and easy to use. I havent used the ap yet so can’t comment. I didnt buy it for the ap so not too bothered about that. My teeth feel exquisitely clean. Love the smiley face after 2 minutes. Looks great and my mouth feels fab! Great price from amazon at 109
I like the brush, although I was using a far less expensive Oral B beforehand. It can e controlled via an app if you want (I don’t). It smiles at you if you’ve taken long enough to clean your teeth (this doesn’t seem to comprehend that it must surely depend on how many teeth you may have left – in my case not many). It frowns if you’re in a hurry, and offers a wry half smile if you take quite long but, in its’ opinion not long enough. I suppose this offers a degree of guidance (and amusement), but I am not sure the cost justifies the price.
Bought for 150 on sale.
Packaging and contents: Very nice and premium. Toothbrush comes with one head. Travel case is adequate and sturdy. Fits toothbrush and two heads. Also has a rubber 2 head holder. Magnetic charger is hefty and shouldn’t move about too much.
Usage: The charger base needs to be on a flat surface. Mostly possible but i can imagine not always possible when travelling or on some dodgy small sinks. Toothbrush will fall over if not level.
The entire toothbrush gets very slippy when wet. This has been a problem since day one. My old toothbrush would froth up the toothpaste and it would all stay in my mouth where as this turns it watery because of the intense oscillation. It tends to dribble down if not held comepletely upright. I have read some other reviews that say the same thing. After usage you will have to rinse off the entire toothbrush. Can be a bit annoying. Also think they could have incorperated some textured surfaces onto the handle or some rubber but overall not a big thing.
Very well built and sturdy, cleaning is excellent. Charge will hold atleast 10 days from my current estimation.
Pack of 4 replacement heads can be had for roughly 26. The normal daily clean ones can be a little hard on the gums at first so can recommend getting the gentle ones over these if you have gum problems. I have found the bristles kind of soften (2 weeks’ usage)
Summary: Overall a very nice toothbrush/ Would not recommend either the io8 or io9 over this as the 5 modes are completely adequate. The only thing the io9 has over this are two more modes (useless) and the 3d tracking. Also comes with a usb travel case. The i08 has one more cleaning mode. And the two others both have color displays. Upto you. Not worth the extra money imo Also i dont think this is worth anything above 150 so if you are debating buying above that price please wait a bit for a sale. (i would say this toothbrush would be much better priced at 120-130)
1 star deduction for the ergonomics, the price of the replacement heads and the base having to be flat.
As I’m a sucker for marketing, I knew as soon as I saw the advert for this on TV that I would give in and purchase it (well, I let my Dad buy it for me as a birthday present!).
I opted for the Series 7 because I didn’t think it was worth an extra 50 for two extra modes and a colour display.
The toothbrush itself is noticeably lighter than the previous premium model and feels very nice in the hand.
The brush head is bigger than any available previously (both the actual size and brush head itself) and will only fit the iO.
At full charge, the battery lasts about 8 or 9 days if using the Daily Clean mode. From empty a full charge takes about 3 hours, which is really impressive. When at 10% charge left the colour display will flash red and you’ll get one or two more cleans from it.
I have used three of the modes – Sensitive (when new for a few brushes, to get my mouth used to it), Intense (once just try try it) and Daily Clean all other times.
You get a green light when brushing with the correct pressure, white when you aren’t using enough and red when using too much (but you must have to go some to get this to happen, as not seen it yet).
The travel case is ok.
I haven’t used the bluetooth AI, as personally think that it is a gimmick.
I’ve been using this for 3 weeks now and it is without doubt the best electric toothbrush I have ever used and my mouth has that just cleaned feeling for hours afterwards.
The reason that I have only given it 4 stars is because I feel the fact that you are still unable to recycle the brush head warrants dropping 1 star. I do feel guilty that this will end up in landfill. Come on Oral-B. This is the 21st century. You need to do much better on recycling.
Also, there is no way I would ever pay the full RRP for the brush heads, no matter how good they are.
UPDATE 29/11/20 – Still loving the clean after over 3 months use. Was pleased to see a reminder to change the brush head (which you would expect, as per the manufacturer’s recommendation but to be fair it did look like it was due for a change). I’m so impressed with this that I bought one for my partner as an early Christmas present.
