Bought these for my mum for Christmas probably best hair straightners!
Very happy wife & whilst she doesn’t need hair straighteners to look gorgeous, they actually work !!!! I don’t understand hair …. unless it’s body hair, so can’t comment further.
Thank you 😀
My daughter very pleased with these so far.. Time will tell I guess but all Good so fa
A great straightener and curler easy to use quickly heats to correct temperature I have had compliments about my hair since using this product. I have recommended this to my friends and family. I bought both this and the hair dryer. I love them both.
Easy to use, quick heat, will not get hurt even accidentally touch my neck during hair straightening.
I’m officially a Panasonic cheerleader. I disposed of my faulty ghd straightener after ordering the Panasonic. I also disposed of my overpriced Dyson hairdryer after using my friend’s Panasonic dryer. Hands down, these engineers are doing a great job and blowing the overpriced competition away completely. Worth the money!
I bought these at a really good price and am very pleased with them. I have used various straighteners over the years but I would count these as the best ones so far. They do a really good job, even on a lower heat setting and seem to be much kinder on my hair than others I have used in the past. The weight and hold in hand is also comfortable and sturdy.
Bought for my daughter at less than half the original price. She totally loves it. Varying heat temperatures to choose from. Takes very little time to heat up. Good for medium hair thickness I think. Overall, very happy with product.
Bought as a Xmas gift & delighted with them. Lovely to look at & really easy to use with clear straightforward instructions, a bargain at the price, & delivered on time. Thanks Amazon.
Like the softness with out any products heats up quickly can not fault them *****
The nanoe technology is definitely less damaging to hair. It does make a funny noise when you are using it but I think the nanoe products do do that. It is not too hot to touch when operating which is good. It works well as a straightener and if you want to creates waves. It is not heavy duty enough if you want to create curls…
Great, product, leaves your hair, feeling reallly, shiny and soft…
Great straightner, my daughter uses it on her mixed afro hair and it works grea
This is a review for the Panasonic EH — HS 99 nanoe. It heats up quickly to the selected temperature and runs smoothly through my hair. My hair is naturally curly but 2 passes are enough to straighten it for the day. I’m very pleased with it.
Being a long time GHD user, I was a more than a little nervous using these straightener’s but I needn’t have worried. They turned my hair from dull, dry and frizzy, especially the ends, into shiny, smooth and straight. My hair actually looks like its had a treatment. Plates are glide smoothly with no snagging.
I have fine hair but a lot of it, so the choice in temperature settings is great and have learnt I don’t have to have the straighteners at the hottest temperature, that matches my GHD’s, to get my hair straight.
After using these for straightening and waving, I would recommend you section your hair, move them slowly down the hair shaft or around the straighteners. Once you have done this, leave the hair, don’t play with it. These seems to set the hair in the style you have decided on.
These straighteners look very nice with the rose gold trim, are lightweight and feel really good quality, which you would expect from Panasonic. The only negative I can find is that they don’t open very wide but I’m sure I will get used to this. Also a mat, bag or heat glove would have been nice.
I would definitely recommend these straighteners and as for my GHD’s? Put away for emergency standby only.
Pros: heat settings, safety shut off, effective, long cable
Cons: narrow opening, no glove, mat or bag
These are lovely hair straighteners that definitely do leave your hair feeling sleeker and shiny. I used to use GHD brand straighteners that were amazing when I first got them but over time I think that the plates wore down and it wasn’t until I used these that I realised how much my old pair had deteriorated. Heat up time is reasonable and you only need to go over the piece of hair once to make it straight.
Having used the wide GHD straighteners for 15 years plus, I wanted straighteners with a temperature control as my hair has become damaged. Having researched several makes, I purchased these and so far I’m very pleased with the result they give. However, although the straighteners are well made, compared to my GHDs they are very light. So much so that I have burnt myself on two occasions. The long cord wrapped around the handle of my dressing table drawer and the straighteners were pulled out of my grip, burning my thumb badly. My GHDs were wider and gave a better grip. I will get used to the new straighteners and it is my problem and nothing to do with them but please be aware when first using them. I am now going to purchase a heat glove, which I’ve never had to use before.
I have used quite a lot of hair straighteners in my time and was curious to see how a Panasonic one would fare!
These straighteners have a nice feel. They have a good grip. Interestingly, they have a number of temperature settings you can choose from, from 150-230 degrees.
The straighteners take a bit of getting used to. The first thing is to figure out the best setting for your hair and requirements.
I tried them on the 180 degrees setting. This gave my hair a soft look, not dead straight. It looked quite natural, but it didn’t last, as the next day, my hair had kinks in it. I found the 200 degrees setting the best. My hair looked and felt good, and the straight effect lasted for days, even after tying it up for a day. I think the best thing is to find which one works for you.
Panasonic is selling the ‘nanoe’ effect with these straighteners. Some sort of water molecule effect which is meant to keep moisture in your hair. I did find that my hair stayed soft and didn’t dry out.
Another nice touch is the locking system whereby you can lock the two plates together. I usually put an elastic band around my regular ones (which doesn’t work very well).
I have given these straighteners four stars, but there are a couple of things which would have made it a five.
Firstly, when you switch them on and choose your temperature setting, a light starts flashing. However, the straighteners don’t bleep to tell you that they are ready, so you have to keep watching to know when they are heated up.
The plates themselves are quite small in length. I often get my hair caught in the bits where the control settings are. Therefore, you can’t get too much hair in there so have to do smaller sections at a time.
The two parts don’t open very wide so you almost have to peer in to look at the controls. Finally, I’m a bit disappointed with the amount of plastic packaging used for this product:
The straighteners are in a cardboard box but within a plastic casing — the cardboard parcel it came in was sturdier than the plastic casing!
There is also: a plastic cover on the plug, plastic bag the straighteners are in — and then they are put into the plastic case, plastic wrapping on the straightener plates to hold them down, plastic peel-off on another part, and a plastic tie. Altogether, around 7 bits of plastic packaging in various forms.
The product itself is great, so I hope Panasonic will look at ways of reducing the packaging, or maybe use reinforced cardboard instead.
My wife has previously used GHD hair straighteners who seem to be accepted as king in this market, so she was a little unsure about going with Panasonic. However, after a couple of weeks of use there is no regret over the switch of brands. Whilst these may not look quite as flash as her old ones they nevertheless look like a premium product, and regardless of brand or what they look like all that really matters is do they do the job? The answer it seems is yes. They’re ready to use quickly from being turned on, and, she says, give a good silky feeling. She’s pleased.
My daughter is a huge fan of these hair straighteners. They heat up in about 60 seconds and she said they are much better than the ones she has at present as they don’t catch on the hair at all. Easy to use, look great, and leave hair with a really nice shine to it. Would strongly recommend to other people and An essential purchase for one of your children. Good stuff.
As I’m struggling to keep hair on my head let alone be able to style it, I thought I’d let my wife, Corinne, review this one:
I have only fairly recently entered the world of straightening irons; this is because my daughters have entered their teens and have hair with a slight natural wave underneath whereas I have always had naturally fine, straight hair . This is the first time I have tried a more expensive straightener and there is definitely an obvious difference in quality. These are well made and fit comfortably in your hand with a curved surface and textured finish. They feel quite weighty and solid but are not too heavy (even for someone like me who has painful joint issues). They look smart and sleek and have a fashionable rose gold finish on the inside display area. One small complaint is that I felt they didn’t quite open wide enough to view the display area, although it is still easy enough to make out.
Once you switch them on they have a range of 5 heat settings from 150 to 230 degrees and they heat up very quickly, which was a definite plus for me. Although the outer casing does get quite hot, the ceramic panels are slightly inset, meaning there is much less risk of accidental burns than with other straighteners I’ve tried. I had never heard of “nanoe” technology but the simple explanation that it draws in water molecules from the air is simple enough to understand and I definitely felt like these were kinder to my hair, leaving it smooth and shiny without any hint of scorching, even without any protective products.
Overall, I am very impressed with these hair straighteners and they are certainly the best example of this product that I’ve ever owned, but I do feel there are some minor issues, such as the aforementioned visibility of the display area. Also, I believe that it would be nice if it also came with a heatproof mat and/or storage bag as complementary accessories, especially as this product is being sold as such a high-end, quality, desirable product.
My own hair is far too short and straight already to try this product myself. However, my wife has tested the product and given me her impressions.
The Panasonic Straighteners are well made, attractive in gold and matt black and feel like a quality product. There is a handy thumb lock to keep them from springing open when stored but there is no cable management option other than wrapping the, thankfully quite long, cable round the tongs themselves once they have cooled down. The unit switches on with a switch on the inside of one of the tongs where the temperature from 150 to 230 degrees can be set and adjusted although this would be easier if the tongs opened a few degrees further. They are comfortable to hold and easy to use.
Sleek and shiny results are produced quite quickly and, I’m told, very good. Compared to the best versions of the market leader brand in straighteners these are up there with the best and will not disappoint if given as a present. The biggest issue here is not the quality or effectiveness of the product but the very high, eye-watering price compared to the best of the rest. Neither of us could work out why this product should be priced at twice the price of the market leader’s offerings (which are themselves over twice the price of budget products).
One final observation is that there is no supplied travel case/ heat mat. This certainly seems to be a rather stingy omission on a premium product.
I tend to judge the quality of any electrical goods by the way they feel when you first hold them. These straighteners are weighty without feeling heavy and they give the impression of real quality.
My wife has been using them for a little while now and has been very happy with the lasting effect of the straight hair and the sheen she has after use.
“Nanoe” seems to be a negative-ion technology, reducing static. There are four ports (two on either side). It can be switched off, then you can see the difference. Included is a small brush for cleaning the ports.
The hair straightener itself is superb – the ceramic plates are set-back a little (to help protect ears), there’s temperature graduations (go for the lowest that works with your type of hair; the finer your hair the lower the setting required).
If you can afford it, go for it. You won’t find better. Shame it does not come with a case to protect your investment – you wouldn’t want to chuck this in a drawer with other electricals or objects that could scratch it.
Previously I had stopped using hair straighteners as it damage done my hair too much , I have fine , dyed blonde hair and it broke off at the ends .
However these straighteners are more suitable for caring for your hair
And preventing damage . One of the ways is the large scope of heat setting so you can adjust to your hair type. I am best to use a lower setting and it’s easly adjusted. A light on top tells you want setting your at and you control this by the side buttons. If you have thicker or coarse hair you can adjust to the higher settings. Or for stubborn bits .
My hair glide through the straighteners and it produced fast results . You can also use it for getting curls , if you unsure how you can watch the you tube .
It also has the new nanoe technology, which is meant to gather moisture from the air to add to the straightening process. I did notice my hair was less flyaway .
These are comfortable to hold, got a good gripe and decent sized cord .
I also love that they have an automatic turn off as I tend to get panics when I have left the house that I have left electric items on , some of my friends are the same one even takes a photo of her straightness switched off before she leaves the house ! So you know that everything is safe , especially with forgetful teenagers or middle aged women in my case .
Overall I’m very pleased with these , they work well and my hair was noticeably more shiner and softer, sometimes with straighteners my hair seems to glue together , but not with these.
Highily recommended and worth the price as with regular use these should still last a few years .
I do not know what ‘Nanoe Technology’ is and I am unsure of how to evaluate Panasonic’s claims on hydrating hair and reducing static, but I can confirm this EH-HS99 model is fully functional as a hair straightener, and it can be used to style in waves or loose curls. It is certainly a robustly constructed 5-star product with a well-respected pedigree — but perhaps more expensive than need be with so many offerings available.
With high performance ceramic plates, quick heat-up, even heat distribution, and choice of settings a grand-daughter was always in full control, and she has achieved excellent results in terms of lasting hair sheen appearance and feel, and she found the hair straightener to be comfortable to hold and operate via its good length cable and swivel fixing for ease of use. When hot care is required on placing the device on a suitable surface, but there is an automatic cut-off.
I agree entirely with another reviewer that the price of these is quite astounding. However, having been a ghd user for years, I am really impressed by these. They heat up in 30 seconds and unlike ghds, have different temperature settings which is ideal for hair like mine, which can get very dry. They work very well on my frizzy hair, with minimal fuss and effort. In my experience, as with hairdryers, it is worth paying more for a trusted brand and though I am lucky enough to have received these to review, I am converted and delighted to recommend
This Panasonic EH-HS99 Nanoe Ceramic Hair Straighter looks and feels well constructed. The stand out feature is the Nanoe facility which is a form of ioniser designed to give a silkier finish. The unit features five temperature settings (150, 170, 180, 200 and 230 degrees), smooth ceramic plates, a heat up time of 30 seconds, an open-close lock and generous 2.7m power lead. The unit will work from AC 100-200V or 220-240V. In the box, apart from the unit, you get instructions, warranty details (1yr) and a cleaning brush for the Nanoe slots.
The immediate impression is of a very well built product which features on/off switch and a temperature +/- buttons accompanied by LED indicators. One slight criticism is that the tongs don’t open quite wide enough to see the control panel as fully as I’d like although there is a handy locking feature to secure them shut.
The cable entry into the device swivels through 360 degrees making the quite thick power cord a bit less cumbersome, although, there is no cable management device e.g. a Velcro loop, unlike other hair straighteners I’ve used. Also, no travel case is supplied.
There is an automatic off feature if the unit isn’t used for an hour, plus the temperature reduces to 170 degrees after 15 minutes of non-use. Surprisingly, there is no audible warning when the selected temperature is reached although the appropriate LED stops blinking.
The tongs are easy to use and as the heated plates are recessed from the edge there’s less risk of burning your ears. The ceramic plates are genuinely non-stick a and react quickly when you adjust their temperature.
In use the straighteners work well sliding over your hair without burning a leaving a good finish — you’ll find the optimal temperature by trial and error. I think the Nanoe feature does help as my hair is quite fine and flyaway which means it can develop frizziness, however, the problem does not arise with these straighteners. Overall, I’m very pleased with the results and my hair felt smooth and shiny although best results were obtained with slightly damp hair.
In summary, these are well made hair straighteners and the Nanoe feature does help, but they are expensive making the omission of a cable manager, audible temperature warning and travel case less excusable. Most critically though the critical their performance as straighteners is very good and better than other examples I’ve tried.
