Great quality product with variable power, modes and spare tip battery life is a little short, especially when used on a higher setting and you will spend a lot of time charging this device. On its most powerful settings, it does tend to spray rather a lot of water so do use it over a sink!

You still need to floss at least once a week, to get the bits where the teeth touch each other. Good for the interdental area, near the gums. I’ve been using interdental brushes, which I hated, ahead of getting this, and compared to that process this thing is much easier to use. This will keep your gums healthy, but won’t prevent cavities, which is why you still need a bit of string on a stick, or something, for the other bit. Apparently just once or twice a week.

I was expecting my teeth and gums to feel like they’d been attacked by a sandblaster, as based on a friend’s description about using one of these things, however, it doesn’t feel a whole lot different to a rinse. You can see deposits fall free, but nothing particularly exciting occurs. I’m not 100% about it. I’ll see what my hygienist says the next time I pop in for a more thorough clean. If she feels the need to give me a lesson on how to clean and floss my teeth again, that might indicate it’s not as good as I hope. Will see!

Anyway, get one, and use it before you clean with toothpaste!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat product, the best one so far!! My 1st was a ‘Water Pik’, 2nd ‘Mydenteeth’. I like how fine the water/air is, compared to the previous 2 models I have owned. I think the technology and quality has improved over the years. 1st photo is a comparison between the Mydenteeth and Panasonic, the shape is better to hold and the grey is rubberised so easier to hold. The water reservoir closure stays closed with a simple push-catch.

Does the job well. Even after regular flossing there’s always food particles missed. Just remember, keep the unit upright and your mouth closed, don’t switch on before putting in your mouth or you and the bathroom get sprayed …takes a few goes to get the hang of it.

best of recent purchases, works very well, water runs off very quickly at top level, but standing in the bathroom above the sink is not a problem. used with my husband every day, sometimes even several times and the first charge was after a week of use, the battery works very well.

    Good produc

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis water flosser took some getting used to, for me. The main body is a bit bulky. I would advise using the slowest speed until you get the knack, and use tepid water if you have sensitivity. I have to wait till the reservoir is empty before I take it out of my mouth, otherwise water spurts everywhere, but I have finished about then, most times. [I can’t seem to locate the on/off button when it is in operation] Keep your head down and over the sink.

I was very sceptical buying my first water flosser. I thought maybe on 5 gear it would be kinda ok, I was wrong. All I need is 2nd gear and it does it’s job. Powerful and functional.

This flosser is not as expensive as some of the other well known brands but it does a really good job. It certainly gets to the parts that even interdental brushes and mouthwash can’t. It’s a little on the large side but on the Jet setting it squirts a lot of water so I’d say it’s about right. I’d say the best way to use it is naked in the bath with the shower curtain drawn!
In my opinion the only improvement I would make is to have the on/off button ‘hold to run’.
Don’t know about battery life as I tend to have it on charge over night.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI was a bit hesitant to choose replacement for my Philips Sonicare Airfloss, which is not sold anymore and because all current models look so bulky to hold onto. I bought this Panasonic model and at the moment I am quite ok with it. Jet mode does not have as strong pressure as Philips used to have and I definitely have to engage on and off technique if I do not want to choke on water. I simply clean a couple of teeth and then turn it off and turn it on when I am ready for next set of teeth, rather than using it continually for all teeth. And it works for me fine. Hope this will help.

Got this to supplement use of interdental brushes. Works fine. Handy that is not connected to an eternal reservoir like some models, but the door that seals the water compartment tends to fall off.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI originally purchased the Waterpik Advanced cordless flosser but found it pretty feeble and it just wasn’t powerful enough and didn’t properly clean up between my teeth so unfortunately had to return it

After reading more reviews I decided on a Panasonic one and in particular this EW1411 version and I’m very impressed with it. It’s more powerful than the Waterpik and much cheaper. This was 46 and the Waterpik was 75 and the Panasonic just works as it should do and clears my teeth very well

    UPDATE:
Although I found the Panasonic worked well it has two design flaws. When charging there is absolutely no way of knowing if it is fully charged or not.. the light comes on but only to tell you it’s connected; I made sure this was the case by scrutinising the instructions. Also the nozzle is so loose that it simply spins while using it

    UPDATE.UPDATE:
The one that I’ve now found to be the best flosser is the Philips 3000

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve used this product for a few weeks now and I was impressed by how long the battery lasted, considering I was using it twice daily. The water tank could be larger. It has variable power settings and took some getting used to the technique but overall, I’m happy with this product.

Much easier than using traditional flossing tape or string.
As many reviews have mentioned it does take a little practice at first.
I would recommend the lowest power setting only.

Purchased after checking a few options and pleased with the performance of the water jet. Definitely helps clean between teeth. Battery life is very good, have only charged twice in a few months of use. the water reservoir is small and so needs re-filling half way through a clean but not a big problem.

Quite a large device and so probably not that suitable for travel use.

Brilliant at ‘flossing’ teeth. Actual floss doesn’t find any more but can irritate and/or cut gums. Started on lowest setting, graduated to second. Unlikely to use highest(six or seven). Might work cleaning ears but haven’t tried

In compare with my previous flosser this one has smaller tank and lower power on maximum setting, but the power is enough to comfortably clean between teeth and gum pockets.
Smaller tank means easier to travel, but sometimes I have to fill it twice.
Really impressed with charging speed. Battery life is very good as well. I charge it about twice a week (two people use twice a day) and never came to the situation I ran out of battery.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis was a replacement for another water flosser. I’ve tried several this year and the quality has varied. I went for a brand this time hoping for more power. I would say its easy to use but for a new starter it will take a week to get used to it. It has a reasonably powerful jet. My only issue is that the head turns as you are flossing so I have to keep stopping to turn it back to the front. Other than that it’s fine

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt’s the first flosser that I buy and I think I will need some time to get used to it. It looks a very good quality, but I don’t like that it has an EU plug.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt feels a little bulky, can’t really see me taking it away if traveling, but used to using it now and comfortable enough to handle in the bathroom. It does though generate a powerful water jet that really does the job. Actually a bit of a shock at first, hurt a tab until I got used to it. Very pleased with water flossing.

Golden Review Award: 77 From Our UsersEvery 6 months I pay a huge sum to be told off by the hygienist for not flossing my teeth – until I bought this flosser! (she still says I’m not doing a good enough job but I think she’s just saying that so I feel obliged to go back and part with more money 6 months later )

Great if you have teeth that are very close together and you’re always getting bits of food stuck in between. Sooooooo much easier than silly little bits of tape or brushes that you can’t get between your back teeth without dislocating your jaw.

To get a feel for just how much food comes out when flossing, pop the plug in the sink before you floss – you’ll be horrified and amazed in equal measures!

    Top tips –
    1) don’t have your mouth open when flossing otherwise you’ll spend longer drying off the area around your sink than you do flossing! Practice makes perfect (and a dry bathroom).
    2) floss before you brush so you don’t rinse off the fluoride from the toothpaste.
    3) take care when changing from top to bottom teeth or vice versa as you may end up spraying a jet of water over yourself!
    4) the head can swivel slightly when you’re using it so be aware.
    5) best to use tepid rather than cold water as cold will be a bit tingly for sensitive teeth.
    6) amazing for cleaning around the base of the taps or those fiddly bits on the track of the shower door!
    7) remember to check which setting it is on BEFORE you switch it on unless you don’t mind a water jet hitting your face!

    On the downside –
    1) it is a little cumbersome to hold.
    2) there is no way of knowing when it’s fully charged as the light doesn’t go off or change colour.
    3) the jet option could be stronger.

Would I buy another one if this one broke? Hell, yes!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis seems a very good product. Well made. The battery lasts quite a long time, so good for travelling over a few days. I still think its a bit bulky but with the water tank in the handle its portable and easy to use. I did find that the water jet was quite strong so I don’t have it going full blast as my gums are sensitive. Overall its the best one I’ve used so far, easy to use, easy to charge and battery life is good too. I would recommend.

  24. Clarence2959 says:

Easy to charge, not often required though.
Good amount of pressure on gums and between teeth, removing all the bits that need removing. Leaves teeth very clean.
The adjustable pressure is handy but I tend to find the full force works best to remove bits between teeth.
    Love it!

THE PLUG IS TOO BIG and certainly a lot bigger than on the previous 1411 model I had last(shown left in the picture). The waterpik main body works excellently but the manufacturer seems to have taken the weighty electronics from the base (which was good because it weighted the base down) and put in the plug. I had bought a bathroom cabinet (800) specifically to house the 1411 and all previous devices which have always had a simple shaver plug and fitted nicely in the cabinet. Now I can’t even shut the cabinet door! Even if the socket was just on the wall, the plug would be unsightly. ANNOYING!

4.0 out of 5 stars The plug is a massive nuisance but the rest is excelle

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve had multiple WaterPiks and two Panasonic EW1211s. This is the best so far. The Panasonics beat the WaterPiks on every front and the 1511 is better than the 1211 because of higher pulse rate, bigger tank giving longer runtime, and Li-ion cells Vs NiMh and much shorter charge time. Slam dunk, unless the 100% waterproof inductive charging or smaller size for travel are your top priorities, I which case choose a cheaper Panasonic.

I don’t have a power socket in the bathroom and an irrigator is a key element of my mouth hygiene plan!

After more than a year of daily use I can safely say it has ben working brilliantly. It is not as strong as stationary ones, but is strong enough to replace them successfully. I am very happy with the battery life expectancy and overall performance.

I would not call it an ideal travel solution – it is quite big and I prefer my Panasonic EW-DJ10 for travel.
It is foldable and powered by 2 aa batteries and while it is not as strong as EW1511, it is more convenient to take with you and store in a small bag.

    Overall I highly recommend!

I was nearly put off by the limited availability of replacement nozzles as mentioned by some reviewers but an online chat with Panasonic in the U.K. confirmed that they can supply them although oddly they don’t appear on their online shop. This is the first oral irrigator I’ve had so I can’t compare it with any other but the power is impressive and after a few messy efforts I’ve found it quite easy to use. It is quite bulky but very light and holds enough water for one thorough clean. It seems effective at removing food particles but a small brush or interdental TeePee might do just as good a job. I’ve got one gap in my teeth too small even for floss which is why the dentist suggested an irrigator. Time will tell if it helps reduce plaque and decay.

I’ve had many Panasonic dental irrigators over the years. They don’t seem to last more than 12 months, less in some cases.

So I’ve decided to throw good money after bad on the upgraded model.

Will this be any better? Time will tell.

PS The older model heads fit this newer one too.

Our previous hosed water flosser had a leak in the hose, so we needed a new one. I never really warmed to it as the hose never really seemed long enough. After reading up on all the cordless models and having had some previous experience with Panasonic quality, I decided to go for this one because: it’s Panasonic quality; it’s cordless; it has a large water tank; the battery recharges in an hour; it has a good selection of power levels. . I really like it, it does a great job and if you have sensitive teeth, warm water works a treat. I still floss once a week to get some fluoride and mint under the gum line, but I use this every day. So nice not to be binning reams of floss every week and the occasional plastic container. Very highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersI bought this in November 2019 and I have not reviewed it until now because I wanted to see how it lasts. I had previously gone through other brands that failed within a matter of months.

My Panasonic flosser is still going strong. The parts I thought would age badly…the rubber seal on the removable bottom and the door on the filling hatch…are fine. The filler hatch door, when opened, is inclined to unclip from the body easily as the lugs holding it to the body are shallow However, it’s easy just to push it back into place.

My routine after use is to remove the bottom and run the flosser for a few seconds to expel remaining water. Despite doing this every day, no rubber seals are cracking and there are no leaks.

Things to look out for as the unit ages…
I found that black slime built up inside. I assume it’s an algal growth. I therefore now clean it using very hot water and cotton buds. I have even risked running it for a few seconds with very hot water in to sterilise it between uses. This did not damage the pump as I feared it might. The other thing that occasionally happens is something blocks that creates a vacuum as you use it. This progressively reduces output pressure. I think the vent that’s meant to allow air in as water is ejected is a hole underneath the nozzle release button. I found that running it with my finger over the nozzle created a back-pressure that expelled the black slime I referred to above and cleared the vent. Really, the things I do to clean my flosser, I’m surprised the motor and pump have carried on working just fine!

The lithium battery lasts well as is to be expected, both between charges but also over time. It still holds charge well and I think it helps NOT to have it perpetually on charge.

My flosser still looks new. If I look closely, I can see some miniscule debris around each of the LEDs as there are tiny gaps there but I don’t think that’s a problem.

I recommend this flosser. It obviously lasts well. I think I need to find a less crude way of cleaning it (perhaps using food utensil sterilising solution?). I do find that I always use it on maximum pressure and it really does dislodge food matter that even a thorough rinse of mouth wash beforehand left behind. The only note of caution is to be careful where you point the nozzle when it’s running. It doesn’t hurt (when you’re used to it) along the gums but under the tongue is a killer!

In first use I could see a difference and continue to use it regularly. I have to point out that it is messy, you will get wet!! The force of the water hitting your teeth is powerful and obviously the splashback had to go somewhere. You have to be over the sink whilst using this. Don’t use cold water as it is such a cold shock on the teeth! I use boiled water that I leave to go lukewarm and then fill with that. It is a bit too big to take travelling in my opinion. A great thing to have to keep my teeth clean.

I used a Panasonic EW1511 irrigator for 6 years but decided to upgrade to check out the so called Ultrasonic technology. Haven’t really noticed much difference compared with the EW1511 which makes this Ultrasonic version rather expensive – hence the 3 stars. It does however have a much larger reservoir; for me quite sufficient for one irrigation.
There is a sheet with supplementary instructions to the effect that, if no water shoots out when one turns on the unit then one should remove the nozzle and prime the pump by pouring water into the hole where the nozzle fits. I have tried this and it didn’t work. On the other hand, a no flow problem often develops after the pump has been running for a while and the pressure in the reservoir drops to the point that water stops flowing. This problem can be avoided by opening the tab that seals the reservoir.

My older Panasonic model died after years of good use and I chose this one due to the battery charging time and power. I have to say that it’s not as good as I had hoped and while it does charge up faster, while in use the pressure is poor and fluctuates randomly giving a frustrating experience. I do like the fact that you can open up the bad to fully drain and dry the tank which men’s that when not in use, you will not have build up of mould.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI’ve been using water flossers for many years and found them to be really effective at preventing gum problems. I generally use a mixture of warm water and mouthwash for best results. I’ve tried various makes and models in the past but without doubt this one (Panasonic EW1511) is by far the best. The tank is large enough to clean all my teeth and gums with having to refill half way through like the previous EW1411 and EW1211 models, it charges in about an hour compared to 3-4 hours for my previous ones, has great power and is extremely well made as you’d expect from Panasonic. My only criticism is that it doesn’t support USB charging like some of the other makes which means having to carry the special charger with me when traveling, but overall I’m very happy with my purchase and can thoroughly recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 32 From Our UsersWe have have Panasonic ‘Water Flossers’ for about ten years and when I needed to replace an old model I chose the EW1511 as it was the latest model and included the so called ultrasound element. Interestingly the 5 or six reviews were all by people who had been given the 1511 to test n’y Panasonic and none by anyone who had actually bought one!
Well I did buy one and was disappointed. It seems no better than the earlier 1411 except it has a larger water container and does therefore last longer with a single fill . It’s duration of battery function is about a week only and this only using it twice nightly which is about the same as the earlier model. It does charge more quickly in about 2-3 hours. In summary I like Panasonic water flossers but the 1511 is certainly not worth the extra 50 or so on the earlier model which is still available. I don’t know who gets complementary machines from Panasonic but I shall certainly be more cautious of their critiques in future!
