I recently had the pleasure of trying out the Philips Lumea IPL Hair Removal 8000 Series laser hair removal device, and I must say, I am absolutely thrilled with the results! This revolutionary product has completely transformed my hair removal routine, and I can’t wait to share my experience.

From the moment I opened the box, I was impressed by the sleek and ergonomic design of the device. It felt comfortable to hold and maneuver, making it easy to target even the most hard-to-reach areas. The clear instructions provided made the setup process a breeze, and I appreciated the safety precautions outlined to ensure a hassle-free experience.

But what truly amazed me was the effectiveness of the laser itself. With just a few sessions, I noticed a significant reduction in hair growth. Not only did the hair become finer and less noticeable, but I also experienced a noticeable delay in regrowth. Unlike traditional methods that require frequent maintenance, this laser hair removal device offers long-lasting results that save both time and effort in the long run.

One of the standout features for me was the different intensity settings, allowing me to customize the treatment based on my comfort level and skin sensitivity. The built-in skin tone sensor provided an added layer of safety by automatically adjusting the intensity to match my skin’s unique needs. This feature alone made me feel confident in using the device at home.

I also appreciated the thoughtful details, such as the integrated cooling system that helped soothe my skin during and after each session, minimizing any discomfort. The device’s compact size makes it perfect for travel, ensuring I can maintain my routine wherever I go.

In conclusion, the Philips Lumea IPL Hair Removal 8000 Series has exceeded my expectations in every way. Its user-friendly design, remarkable effectiveness, and personalized settings make it a game-changer in the world of hair removal. Say goodbye to the inconvenience of frequent shaving or waxing — this device offers a hassle-free, long-term solution. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient way to achieve smooth, hair-free skin.

I debated long and hard about purchasing but so glad I did! As someone very fair skinned and naturally dark hair I’m a prime candidate for this IPL.
As someone with PCOS I have suffered with terrible facial hair for years, ive had years of electrolysis and spent 100’s on laser removal sessions but never seen any real results but after 6 sessions the hair has almost gone. I know that because of my PCOS and now hitting the menopause my hormones are somewhat all over the place but I’m confident with this handy gadget I’ll be able to keep away the dreaded 5 ‘o’clock shadow for good! For any fellow PCOS sufferers I’d say give it a go,the difference so far is amazing!!

I have PCOS and was a little skeptical about this product as my hair is very coarse and dark with my very light skin tone- But I’ve used this once and noticed a change in the thickness of the hair! I shaved before like the instruction said and my hair has definitely slowed in growth and is now patchy with areas of no hair growth (after 1 use) So I cant wait to see the results after more uses! Highly recommend! Also purchased on prime day so a nice discount too very much worth it!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI wish I had gotten this sooner! I have very stubborn hair growth on my chin, upper lip and cheeks area common areas for a lot of PCOS sufferers. After only 2 treatments, I have already noticed much slower hair growth I am not needing to shave as often whereas before I would need to shave daily. there are patches of no hair growth. I have thick coarse black hair medium skin tone. Already I am feeling more confident and feel this has equipped me with the tool to keep my stubborn unwanted hair under control. It has worked really well on my arms and legs also.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersBefore each treatment, I shaved the area. It does say you can wax before but after having professional IPL in a clinic where I was forbidden to pluck or wax, that didn’t sit right to do that.
I bought this specifically for my face. As a PCOS sufferer, I have thick and black upper lip, chin and cheek hair. I have plucked daily for years.
So to get what I thought would be the best results, I switched up and started shaving my face daily instead, and had to embrace the 5 o’clock shadow! There was no noticeable difference after 3 treatments and shaving only. In actual fact, I got the best results on my face from doing a treatment after I gave up and plucked. Now I’m quite pleased with the results, I can leave it a few days before having to act which has made a huge difference! Bearing in mind I’ve only done 4 treatments!
The rest of my body.. great results on legs, no noticeable growth until day 4-5 after shaving. I’ve noticed very little difference in my underarms.
    Overall,
    -it’s a super easy,
-much quicker than going for a wax,
-it only hurts if there’s hair left outside the skin or used on tattoos
-has worked enough to change my life and how I feel

Worth every penny to me. And was cheaper than the amount I’ve spent on IPL in clinic (which was just on my face, and I found ineffective)

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSo far it’s doing what it said it would, but its slightly more painful than expected though still nothing like waxing/epilating and there are a few areas it doesn’t work on due to small size (e.g fingers). Overall happy with bow it’s going so far as I’m looking more and more hair free and smooth skinned

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis product is great for males. About ten years ago I got my chest/abs hair professionally removed using laser treatment, which i much prefer as it’s cooler and helps see my gym gains better. I decided I’d try this product as my arms and legs were a bit out of sync with my chest. Anyhow I’m really pleased with the results and ease of use. I’ve used it pretty much all over, except my face and head. Results are great and I’ve never felt any pain or discomfort. Legs can be a bit of a hassle due to size but with practice you get quicker. I’ve had this for 2 months now with little hair returning. I suppose the big test would be if I stopped using it for a long period of time, would all the hairs return? Doesn’t feel like they would. Anyhow I’m loving the look of my new bod and at least I won’t have to put up with grey body hair as I age. I would definitely recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThere is no overnight results but given time it works.
This is a replacement for my previous Philips which after 8 years died.
I had terrible dark hairs on my face but now I don’t. It took about 9 months to get the results but it is worth it.
I maintain once a month but there are no dark hairs, but I am starting on underarm hair so that’s a new venture.
I personally would highly recommend but only if you can wait for the results.
Not being dramatic but it changed my life, no dark facial hair and that is all I wanted.

I’ve paid a fortune for professional treatment off and on for years and this works just as well as any treatment I’ve had in clinics. It’s easy to use, painless and there was a noticeable difference after the second treatment. I planned out the two weekly treatments and set reminders in my calendar to make sure I stuck to the initial regime. I don’t expect it to get every single hair, but it has definitely made a difference already.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve used this 3 times so far, following the treatment schedule of once every 2 weeks and I can already notice the growth slowing down. Usually I have to shave my legs every 2 days, I’m one week in without shaving and my growth is minimal. Looking forward to seeing the results after the full course has been completed!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI had no idea what to expect with this product and in all honestly I was a little sceptical. I’ve been battling hair removal for 17 years of my life and tried numerous different techniques, epilating, waxing, hair removal cream, shaving etc. I have naturally thick dark body hair that grows fast. I’m currently at treatment number 2 with my IPL an can honestly say I am absolutely amazed at the results. 80% of my underarm hair has disappeared along with 50% of my bikini line and 50% of my leg hair (lower and upper leg). The hair that is still growing back is growing far slower and is far finer. If I continue to see results at this speed then this product will have genuinely changed my life!

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersI have suffered for years since my teens with thick growth on my legs battled with shaving and epilating waxing for a long time.
Finally bought the super amazing life saving changing laser device ! It blasts hair growth and has changed my life! After a few treatments on legs I started noticing less hair growth ! Now I have little growth and no ingrown hairs to worry about ! Wish I had bought it sooner. Have also used on underarms resulting in smooth underarms with no growth after about 4 treatments !! My absolute favourite beauty device will continue to use to maintain results ! Thank you !!

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersDon’t walk, RUN to buy this! I’m south Asian so you can already imagine me being a chewbacca but hold up I’ve been epilating for years to no avail. Have extreme strawberry leg situation going on and just overall p*ssd at myself for it.

Bought this after it was constantly recommended on ladies chat groups and have it a go!
    — I NOTICED RESULTS AFTER 2nd USE!!! WOWWW—–

Literally on my 4th treatment now and hair growth back is extremely slow. Haven’t shaved for like 2 or 3 weeks now. Hair on my thighs are like non existent. My strawberry legs are GONE. Amazing!

This product does exactly what it says if it is used how it is instructed to be used. I’ve used laser for over 5 years and it’s only started to be almost permanently hairless. You need to shave a few hours before and you need to go through every single inch of the skin area in order to get the best results as quickly as possible. You need to be consistent with it and use it religiously. Only then, after a few years, will you get the permanent smooth skin that you’ll never have to shave again. It seems like a lot of work, but shaving every 2 days is more work. Being in the shower and not worrying about ever shaving again feels like a luxury now. I strongly recommend this product, but only if you have the determination to use it consistently.

I bought the Philips Lumea hair removal device just over a year ago in the run up to my sister’s wedding and used it for a few months. It worked great. On some places I did find it a little tender.
If you are sensitive to bright lights, I would recommend using it during daylight as I personally found the light to be quite bright when using at night.

Then the winter came and I got lazy (as you do sometimes!) and I recently started using it again… and it’s like I never stopped! Hair growth is minimal…
I haven’t yet started redoing my legs and there is still very minimal hair growth.
This is definitely my favourite bit about it!!

I do have to admit I have dark hair, fair skin and I don’t have thick hair… so the device probably works extra well in those conditions… but I am really really pleased with it. It’s making my life so much easier! I rarely have to think about hair removal now apart from when I get a notification once a month to touch up with this device!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersWaited a year to review i’ve tried everything over the years to get rid of hair, same as previous users, was sceptical about this as it costs a lot of money. Got it in the black Friday sale, so was good value. Bought it, as I had nothing to lose and had spent so much money over the years on various different methods of hair removal. This item actually works!!! I started in January last year and by my holidays in April my legs were about 90% hair free and would have to shave once a day before, as I had hedgehog legs in a few hours!! I was pretty much hair free for the first time in my life, for a 2 week holiday, not to mention swimming… no more shaving rash etc the app is a great help to keep track of treatments. They can be time consuming and you may have to mark out with pen on your legs which sections you’ve covered but it’s sooo worth it!! I have light skin and dark hair so was an ideal candidate for this not sure if it’ll work for everyone but it worked for me on my legs and stomach. You need to follow all the instructions and shave beforehand.

I took away 1 star because the first one I ordered… One of the attachments had a piece broken off it and the box was damaged so it looked like a return from someone else. Got a replacement sent and box and item were perfect and brand new. Also I have tried this on my face and seems to make the hair grow!!! So it’ll work different for everyone. For now I’m happy with having hair free legs for holidays!

4.0 out of 5 stars It really works!!!!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI hummed and hawed on whether or not to buy a Phillips Lumea IPL just because of the price tag but I have to say, the purchase has been well worth it.

I’ve currently finished my 2nd treatment and the difference it has made has been mind-blowingly amazing. The hair on both my armpits and legs have been sparse. Normally I’d shave and with my legs I’d have stubble grown back by the end of the day and with my armpits, there’d be stubble the next day or so. Now? I shaved over 2 weeks ago and it’s practically stubble.

It’s not sore either which was another thing that worried me. It’s more like a split flash of heat, the device slides along the skin really easily and is very easy to use. The app is helpful with the reminders of when your next treatment is due. The only thing is especially with my legs, I worry that I’ve maybe missed an area but I’m getting there.

If you’re a pale dark haired mammoth who’s fed up resembling Chewbacca’s sister then this product is for you.

I am mixed race, I have very dark hair and olive skin. Any hair removal did not last long before this. Shaving is out of the question, very uncomfortable. I have had this for 1 year and 8 months, and it is the best this I have bought for hair removal with out a doubt.

I still remove my hair from the root and then use this. I wax my upper lip, epilate bikini line, legs and under arms, then 48hrs later (as per instruction) I use the Philips lumea. I saw results after 2 months, hair just get finer and finer.
I now can go about a month and a half with out having to worry about hair on my face or legs. Waxing and epilating is alot faster and smoother, and does not hurt as the ipl weakens the hair root.

I does not hurt to use the ipl, I use it in sensitive areas first then on my legs last, as the longer it is turned on the warmer it gets.

1 year and 8 months later I only use my ipl every 6-8 weeks+, it doesn’t take long. You need to keep up with your treatments else the hair starts to get stronger again.

Big price tag to pay, but it really does pay for its self, and makes your life easier.

Golden Review Award: 35 From Our UsersOk, so I bought this in February 2019. 3 months on, and my life is everything I hoped for (sounds extreme, but honestly it’s not!)
Backstory – I am half latina so have black hair everywhere, and let me tell you – hairiness has been part of my life since… forever! I will grant you, I’m not excessively hairy (I know others who really are) – but still, it would affect the way I dressed if I didn’t have the time to shave and I would fret over facial hair pretty constantly.

This machine is the best thing I have ever come across! I honestly didn’t believe the hype and thought the price was far too much. Not anymore!
I’m a naturally confident person, so didn’t think the Lumea would have any effect on me in that sense, but knowing that I can literally wear ANY outfit and not compromise or work around what areas I have shaved or not, has been a true revelation. Spaghetti straps? YES. Skirts? YES. Beachwear? HELL YESS!!
I am absolutely in love with the fact I have little to no hair and the hair that grows back either is really light and soft (so barely visible), or falls out as soon as I pull on it. What a dream!
Yes, it’s expensive – but put together all the money you’ve spent so far on getting rid of hair and the result may make you cry. This is a one-stop solution.
Yes, it’s bulkier than I thought, so holding it at the right angle takes some getting used to. I look at is as a workout for my arms.
Yes, it can take a while to do your whole body because the surface area it covers isn’t exactly huge (I would do it on a Sunday and do my legs – missed a million spots so rectified the following time – my arms, hands, face, feet, armpits, and bikini area), and that would take a couple of hours overall. But honestly, I liked the “me” time. Put some music on and enjoy the peace!
When I think of all the time and money you spend on shaving products, waxing (I used to do everything – I have cried on numerous occasions both due to pain and the fact I spent money for the pleasure!), and all the other things you come across to avoid excess hair – honestly, this is so much better and you’re likely never going to have to go through that whole rigmarole again.
Gutted I didn’t buy it sooner, but I’m happy I eventually did after a friend recommended it.
Life is now a hairless dream, where I don’t have to carry tweezers in my handbag all the time because of stray facial hair! (Eyebrows excluded)
I would buy it again if I had to.
Hope this helps someone make their decision 🙂

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have now finished the boot camp period and should now be hair free for 6 weeks. This isn’t quite the case. It has definitely slowed the growth of my hairs on my legs and bikini line down and the hair is now a lot lighter however I can still feel/ see hairs growing back after a week. Although you would have to look close to see these hairs. Rather then leaving my next use for 6 weeks I have moved it forward to 4 as this is the earliest the app will allow me to go.
It takes me about an hour to do full leg bikini and under arms i do have to change angle on under arms and round ankles. The product does get quite hot aswell mainly when I’m doing my legs as that takes the longest.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have fair skin and really dark black hair. I have suffered shaving for most of my teenage and adult life until I took a leap of faith and used this IPL treatment. I’ve currently finished my second session (every 2 weeks session) and I can honestly say I have seen such a big difference on my legs and armpits! I usually shave and hairs would grow back on my legs and armpits just 10 hours after. Now the IPL does not claim to remove hair permanently but help the growth of hair slow down. In my case it has slowed down SIGNIFICANTLY. I would need to shave just before my next session but the hairs are so tiny now!! I’ve been following the app, and that is defiantly really important. I use a 4 on my legs, armpits and face and a 3 for bikini area (does hurt a little more down there). Although I feel my bikini area still will need more sessions as they would suggest. I conclude that this is because I’m only currently using 3 strength. 4 is a little much down there. But I can sense it will eventually work out just aswell as it has on my legs armpits and face. Do your research and read the reviews thoroughly. I would not have brought this product if it wasn’t for the reviews provided on here. Knowing that if you follow the guidelines and be patient you will get results.
My biggest regret – NOT INVESTING IN THIS PRODUCT LONG TIME AGO!!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI have the best skin and hair combo for this product. I am a solid ”5” skintone (going on 6) and I have darkish hair.

If you are somehow perfect at this first time around you can be hair free in 5 sessions. If you are a regular person, you will probably miss a few spots here and there the first few times. The first session was an adventure and I was not sure it would work. After the second session, there were bald patches in the shape of the device. I have finished 5 sessions and I basically never shave unless it is time to zap myself (and it is only a little these days). Since I did not do it perfectly each time, I am still working it out but it is so greatly reduced that I am pleased.

pros: small, attractive, compact, easy to operate, functioning safety mechanisms, reasonable battery life.
cons: app doesnt work on some phones, learning curve

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersI took the plunge buying this product after reading the raving reviews, although a majority of them seemed to be given the device to try free or discounted.

I bought mine to be smooth in my lady region and have been so impressed! I am a perfect candidate for this product with pastey white skin and thick dark brown hair. I admit it wasn’t apparent in the first session, but now after using this product for 3 months every 2 weeks, I am almost completely hairless! It has left me so smooth, which is life changing after dealing with razor bumps for so many years.

The actual product is fairly light making it easy to manage. It’s cordless, but I can’t finish 1 leg before it’s out of juice, so I leave it plugged in. I believe the different attachments allow different amounts of light to pass through the filter, because the one for the bikini hurts compared to the face attachment where i don’t feel anything. Btw when I say hurts, it’s totally tolerable and only lasts for the moment. To me it feels almost like zapping your finger in a electric fly swatter lol.

I would highly recommend this product!

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersThis is the second IPL hair removal device I’ve got, Phillips Lumea Prestige is by far the better one (the other one is Remington)
I was rather hairy, I have light olive skin and I am almost always tanned (So look darker moat of the year) . I used to go for waxing every three weeks and the last week before waxing was always a struggle as I needed to let the hair grow. With this IPL I still need to go for waxing every now and then as some of the hair on my body seem to be too stubborn to go away (after about 6 months of using) but certainly with less frequency (6-7 weeks) and the hair that grows back is softer, lighter and much less dense… so evwn the last week before waxing, it doesn’t look as bad.
And some areas of my body is now almost without hair (I have not waxed nor shaved my under arm for 4 months and there’s still no hair)
I am hoping that with more usage and patience I see similar results everywhere but so far my thighs seem to be impervious to hair removal … hence the 4 star, hopefully I will amend this review to 5star soon
What is really good about lumea prestige is auto selection of setting for skin tone/type. I highly recommend that you check for the right setting separately for each part of your body (mine varies between 3rd to 5th setting depending on whether I am using it on my face or legs)

Golden Review Award: 60 From Our UsersI bought this 2 months ago. Since then, I used it 3 times on my legs and twice on armpits.
The difference is huge. I only used the razor before, so my hair was really thick and stubborn. During these last 2 weeks (since last use) I found around 10 hairs on a leg (talking about the short side), which is amazing, considering the monkey I used to be.
On armpits I cannot really see what I am doing so it is one area hairy, one not, I got holes at the moment . You will probably need some help with the underarms as well. I started with the bikini area yesterday and I am waiting on the results, but something to mention is that if the skin is even a little wet or sweaty, it will be a little painful (burns) so you need really dry skin before using it.
The packaging is really nice, instructions are clear and it is really easy to use.
If it ever breaks, I will buy it again because it is worth it.
Oh, one more thing to mention. My hair is really dark and my skin is light, I think this is important as well.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI can confirm that this Philips Lumea Prestige IPL Hair Removal Device for Body, Face, Bikini & Underarms – BRI956/00 – WORKS.
But there few things to consider as I read the 1 star review.
    I have an oriental skin.
1/. It definitely works but pls consider that that you may need to use it more if you have thick hair strand. Therefore the advice on here does not apply to everyone as we all have different skin tone and hair strands. So give some adjustments.
2/. I would advice not to use very sensitive soap or lotion after using it and certainly do not scrub your skin for obvious reason the skin will be sensitive after the laser treatment.
bear in mind that sometimes may give you the patchy effect but that is because sometimes our hair distribution isn’t even . Every single strand of our body are not the same , For example : our hair in the armpit ar not all the same thickness they may seem to but they are not all identical.
3/. I also advice not to wear very skinny clothes ie skinny jeans or leggings after treatment it is same principle after having skin wax as the pores might be open and can get folliculitis. – hair follicle infection.
4/. This hair removal is not permanent as it says “Enjoy up to 8 weeks* of smooth, hair free skin” so you would need to maintain it possibly before 8 weeks come may need to do it again as tiny little hairs may start growing.
5/. Also, careful in using it can be painful – same if you go to the professionals. Nothing is not painful but I would say it is tolerable. I would not give negative start for that.
    6/.

Golden Review Award: 179 From Our UsersI’m writing this after 4 uses fortnightly apart as per instructions.

I’ve followed instructions down to a tee, always shaved prior to using the unit.

    Pro’s;
    – easy to use
    – significant reduction in growth

    Con’s
    – growth is patchy (some users suggest drawing around the unit window with a white eyelinerwhilst zapping each spot on your legs to avoid missing areas – perhaps this would have reduced patchy areas as I can only assume perhaps I wasn’t as methodological as I thought.

    – using as instructed, I.e shaving immediately prior to use seems to have caused a pitfall being, the hair then dies under your skin and thus doesn’t fall out cue hours spent trying to tease dead hairs out weeks later and damaged areas of skin as a result.

    – Hair reduction has been much better on legs than it has on bikini or underarm area – perhaps the thicker hair will take more sessions, I can see bikini line becoming patchy but at a far slower rate than legs.

I would however recommend this device for hair removal though my number one piece of advice is don’t follow instructions – shave 1 or 2 days prior to the day you plan to use the lumea so all hairs are at least .5mm out of the skin so when they die they can fall out therefore avoiding hairs dying underneath skin. Hopefully the photo I’ve added shows the trapped dead hairs underneath I’ve tried to show an area that I haven’t picked to death!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but allow hairs to be .5mm long before using unit rather than shaving prior to IPL

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWould definetly recommend this product! I’m on my 4th session and the hair growth on my legs and underarms have mostly gone, still some small patches but it’s very slow hair growth.
The finer hair like in my face and forearms doesn’t seem to have done much too but I’ll keep on using it.
In regards to ‘bikini’ area, I think it’s has helped a little but nowhere near the same level of effectiveness as on my legs etc, again will continue with this.

WARNING! Do not use on a tattoo, I ignored the recommendation as didn’t know what would happen but omg what a mess. It hurt so bad and all the skin over the tattoo blistered. Now left with a small missing chunk of black =/

Other comments – I do on occasions find it quite painful using this, very sporadically so you can’t predict when it’s going to hurt bad. I’d say hurts the most on my legs.

It can be quite fiddly to use specially on the back of legs because you have to have it flat against the skin for it to work but it’s worth putting up with for the results I’ve had so far.

My hair is dark Brown, green eyes and light to olive toned skin.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’ve been using Lumea for 5 months. The parts where I use it on setting 5 (lower parts of legs) I have had about a 95% growth reduction. The parts where I have been using on settings 3 or 4 progress has been slower (about 70-80%). This is after 3 months. As recommended, I used it every two weeks during the initial phase which is 3 months. After that you are supposed to do touch-ups every 4-8 weeks. But I recently decided to continue using it every two weeks until I am satisfied with reduction on parts where I use it on the lower settings. If this does the trick, I don’t mind if it takes even a year to get there, I’m just so happy I don’t need to home wax anymore!!! I’ll do an edit in a few months

EDIT: exactly one year after purchasing:
I continue to love this and can’t imagine being without it! I now do touch-ups every 4 weeks (at which time I have no visible hair on my legs, face or underarms, only the finest hairs are there which you can’t even see). I still do my bikini zone every two weeks because I have A LOT of folicules in this area, but every time it reduces a little more.

A tip I wish someone told me (when I started doing it like this, I got the best results):
Instead of using the highest setting I can bear, I went down to the setting I didn’t feel even the slightest sting and did every area twice (except my face). This way I was sure I got better coverage because going round a second time you’re bound to cover spots you maybe missed the first time.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’ve used this 4 times now on full leg, bikini, underarms and top lip. Most hair is gone now which is amazing but will need another treatment on some areas; knees and bikini line. I’m so impressed with the effect of this. I used the old style IPL machines 10 years ago and it took 3 times as long to get results and it was never a hair free experience like I think this will be. What I will say is that it isn’t as fast as most reviews have said, maybe I’m going too slowly but I like to overlap and hit every spot and I am tall so long legs mean more surface area. Also, it is not painless. On thinner skin; back of upper legs and inner upper thigh (bikini area) are painful like little hot pin pricks, the machine heats up quickly and this doesn’t help with the comfort. I used it on level 5 first time but couldn’t face it the second time and reduced to 4, still felt the same really I generally have a high pain threshold (not a flinch or wince when I got my ribs tattooed). Totally worth it regardless and this the machine is amazing and life changing in some small way. Will save so much time and love the smooth appearance of my skin now, no 5 o clock shadow under the surface of bikini line or armpits, just very smooth skin – overall I totally recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI absolutely love this device! I got it in February and in the space between then and now I have seen a difference in my legs and underarms! It’s easy to do on yourself although it can become a bit boring for a large area such as your legs, I’ve gotten into the routine of watching a Netflix show while doing this just because it can take a while, but the results are worth it! My legs aren’t yet hairless but they take ages to grow back and they are becoming less and less hairy. If you are conscious about hair or just can’t be bothered shaving all the time I highly recommend this! It’s worth it if you keep in routine. There is also an app to get with it and when I started that was so handy as it reminded me when to do treatments and tells you what to do and what it actually doing!
It is on the expensive side, but just look at it as an investment! I love mine.

Golden Review Award: 819 From Our UsersI’ve waited since last Christmas before reviewing this item in order to give Lumea a fair bit of time to start working, seeing as many before me have explicitly expressed this IPL treatment isn’t a quick fix.
Ultimately I’ve found this to be an accurate description. Followed instructions to the letter regarding shaving beforehand and regular scheduling… Even downloaded the Lumea app to help keep track of the earlier treatments.
By the end of the first 6 weeks I must admit I was despondent. Hadn’t seen any improvement whatsoever, despite my skin/hair colouration meaning I was applicable to safely use the highest (5) setting for the IPL bulb. I even started wondering if I would be one of the anomalies in the initial tests for Lumea who saw more hair growth or indeed seemed completely immune.
In the end, it all became a (worthwhile!) exercise in patience. Kept at it past the 6 week mark out of sheer belligerence, seeing as this item was an expensive investment, but had started falling back on my epilation routines to tide me over. Interestingly, despite having read a number of accounts from reviewers warning not to epliate or wax (anything that pulls the hairs out by the root, really) between treatments, it was only a week or so after the return of my epilating that I realised I was – finally! – getting results from the IPL.
The biggest indicator is the fact the hairs aren’t growing as fast or as strongly per usual. They are starting to become very fine which has additionally made epilation much quicker and easier. My epilator, I fear, may well become defunct within a year! The hairs on all parts of the skin I’ve used Lumea upon are really beginning to give up. At this stage, each stretch of time before another IPL treatment and my using the epilator are becoming longer and longer. I cannot even describe how happy I am with this (long-in-the-coming!) development, as I have dabbled and struggled with pretty much every tool and method of hair-removal since early teens to my late twenties. As a time-tested enemy of body hair I give Lumea my seal of approval and would happily recommend this product to anyone willing to invest in a little more time and effort into remaining hair free.
To conclude: I’m really grateful for this product (and apologies for the massive review!)

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI decided to invest in this product because I honestly do not enjoy shaving or waxing, its expensive over a period of time and I also suffer from shaving bumps, burns and discomfort. I have been have doing professional laser treatment on and off (an not as regular) for over a year (2016-2017) on my under arms, lower tummy area and bikini line, however due to the costs of one session it almost made it impossible for me to keep the continual appointments. It therefore wasnt as effective over the longer period. I decided and made mental calculations that this machine would not only cost me less but I can do it in the comfort of my own home. I am now on my third session this week and I have seen major major improvement, there is so minimal hair under my arms and tummy area (I havent done bikini yet). I started with the setting of 3 and will be adjusting it to 4 after the 3rd session. The pain for me wasnt anything really, more a small bit of discomfort and in all honesty in some places I didnt even feel it, I think this is also because I have been through professional laser treatment which can hurt like hell afterwards. I also purchased some aloe vera gel which helps with the cooling down of the skin. Two weeks ago I decided to do a test on my legs (as I saw people complain about redness) I set it at 4 and I can definitely say that the hair on my legs are growing back so much slower than normally and I had no redness or bruising. Usually it would be less than a week for the hair to grow back and its two weeks later and I have leg stubble (lol). I would definitely recommend this product!

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersI debated for a long time whether to buy it or not as it’s very expensive and I was sceptical that it would work. I’d read a lot of bad reviews about the no no and this put me off. I was trying to decide between this and the Braun. The Philips definitely came out on top for me but this was reflected in the price. In the end I saw it in the Black Friday sale and had to buy it. I don’t regret it. I had professional laser hair removal about 15 years ago on my underarms. It worked really well and reduced the hair but over time some of it had grown back. I thought I could either pay for more sessions or buy this. When it arrived it looked a little bit complicated but it’s actually really easy to use. You choose the attachment, put it against your skin and press the button to scan your skin tone. It then suggests what number to use it on. You confirm and away you go. I started using it on my underarms and bikini line. I’m quite a hairy person and my hair is fairly dark. My skin always looks tanned even through the winter and when I scan it the device says to use setting 4 or 5 depending on the area. You don’t need any goggles or gel as it says the light is safe but advises not to look directly at it. After the first session the hair started to grow back. It says this is normal and that you will notice it start to fall out after 2 weeks. You need to use it again after 2 weeks anyway so I wouldn’t say I noticed it falling out. After the second session I started to notice a difference. Hairs were dramatically reduced before the next scanning session 2 weeks later. By my 3rd or 4th go there are hardly any hairs left. It’s coming up to 2 weeks since I last used it and my underarms are practically hair free. I used to epilate them and after a couple of days the hairs would start to grow back. I’ve since started using it on other areas and am really pleased with the results. It’s so quick to use. To do underarms, belly, chin and bikini line takes about 5-10 minutes. Mostly it’s pain free but I’ve had some mild pain on my underarms – a burning sensation on a couple of the zaps. I was using it on a 5 and turned it down to a 4 and problem solved. It’s nothing compared to epilating though and feels like an elastic band pinging you. I did have a problem with the device – after my second use the button stopped working that scans your skin. You don’t need it to use the device but after paying a lot of money I wanted a device that was fully operational. It comes with a 2 year guarantee so I contacted Philips and they replaced it straight away. There’s also an app that you can download. I thought this was a rubbish idea and wasn’t planning on using it. However I did and it’s great. It tells you when your next session is due which is really handy when you start different areas on different days and when the sessions become less frequent than every 2 weeks. I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to buy this device again and was happy with the price I paid for it. I still think it’s slightly too expensive when not in a sale but when you compare this against the price you’d pay for professional sessions then it’s well worth the money. I’m treating more areas than I would ever have paid for and if the hair starts growing back when I’ve completed the sessions then I can get it out and give them another zap.

Golden Review Award: 58 From Our UsersI was a bit skeptical about this device but decided to give it a go and treat myself for my birthday. I kept all the packaging intact preparering to return it at the end of the 6 weeks if I didn’t see any results. I am what would seem the best colour group for this device with white skin and black coarse hair. I have polycystic ovaries so I have a bit more hair than usual which is also growing really fast. To give you an example if I shave my legs I would need to do it every day, after a wax I usually start seeing hair staring to grow in about 10 days. I noticed absolutely no change after the first procedure and was really disappointed as the instructions said you would see some results from the first time. I kept on going and after the third procedure I was surprised to notice my hair was not growing on my full legs and they were all smooth and silky even after a month of not doing anything. The result on my bikini area is a bit less impressive but still a massive improvement. I think this might be because of the fact the skin is not that stretched in that area so I will continue working on it. Upper lip and armpits all good. In terms of settings I am using 5 for full legs, upper lip and armpits and 4 for bikini and all the appropriate attachments for them. On my skin I hardly see any red areas after treatment while with waxing I won’t be able to show my legs for a day. There is some small burning sensation but nothing painful really, at least compared with waxing it’s almost nice 🙂 it requires a lot of time and concentration if you want to do it properly and not get patchy results. I takes me about 1.5h to do all areas mentioned above. Overall I am really glad I bought this product as results are really impressive and the fact that going forward I will only need to do touch ups once per month will save me a lot of time. My only concern is what I am going to do when my hair becomes white 🙂

I just recieved the product and did my first session…will update later the results

Before buying the product one of the reviews got me concerned …the woman that complained the she had burns on her face… first of all in her review she says the product is faulty that only the face attachment has uv filter and others didnt (well…it is written and shown in pictures that only the face attachement has indeed and extra uv glass filter and others dont) …i am not sure why and if she got the burns..might be not suitbale for her skin or mayeb it was faulty …but the energy is very low…so not sure if ithe review is valid i didnt see other reviews about ppl gettig burns..

The energy used is between 2.4-6.5J/cm2 while for ex salons devices use between 100-250 J/cm2 ..so u can see the difference and also why the results are faster there ( but also some ppl can get severe burns)

However , the comment indeed attract my attention about the uv extra filter why it s used only in the face attachement, they say because it s a sensitive area…but all body parts can be sensitive…therefore i wrote to custumor support to know which are the filtered uvs and their wavelength number

I used the maximum level 5 as sugested by the skin sensor… i didn t feel anything just like a mosquito bite…:) waiting for the reuslts now..

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was hesitant about buying this as it’s quite a lot of money but since there was a reduction in price I thought it was worth a try! I have light tanned skin naturally and dark hair. I am constantly shaving my armpits, legs, stomach, arms…pretty much my whole body as I don’t like the look of the hair, which takes up a lot of time to do and my legs and armpits will begin to get prickly by the end of the day if I were to shave in the morning so this was well worth a go. I don’t like waxing as it hurts too much.
I only got this last week and had my first session when I got it. Considering within 24 hours I’ll be able to feel the hair growth significantly, it’s been about 3 day’s now and it’s the same as when I shaved for the treatment, so already for me I’m seeing a change! I’m hoping this keeps up with my following treatments! So far so good! I’ll try and update this when I’ve done more treatments! 🙂

Update: Finished the boot camp stage and even after the third treatment there was such a difference in the leg, face and armpit area especially! I’m keeping an eye on the parts with coarser hair and may need to do another few 2 week treatments if i feel it needs it but so far it’s been amazing! It does take a bit of time to do which can get a bit irritating but thinking about how much time it saves shaving every day, I can’t complain really! I would recommend!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUpdated:
I’ve now been using it for 6 months. I think my body hair has hit a plateau because the machine isn’t slowing down my hair growth on my legs or bikini at all. I think I might need to do the sessions more frequently rather than the suggested 6 week break.

    Old:

I’ve been using this for a few months now. Has slowed down hair growth on my underarms and part of my bikini. I had trouble with chin hair and this has eliminated it. My legs are slowly getting better but still need some more treatments. I have Indian skin so it doesn’t work on all parts of my body but it works on most of it.
