i have used a Remington shaver for years .As you get older your beard gets tougher and i found my last two new Remington razors never gave me a close shave. The Philips razor gives me the best close shave ever and
it is so easy to clean and maintain.

It comes in a really good case with all its attachments, gives a good close shave and is easy to clean ,good lasting battery . Best shaver I’ve tried in years.

This is a quite excellent razor… However… The provided instruction leaflet is only inches from useless… Total nonsense! Download the app and check instructions from there… Throw the appalling provided instruction leaflet away.

I bought this because it beat the Phillips 9000 and Braun 9 in reviews. I am not disappointed. Shaves a lot closer than my old 5000 especially with my Proraso shaving cream. Cleans very easily under the tap. It comes with its own cleaner module and one pot of fluid. Saving that as replacement liquid is pricey. Very happy with this and it was only 149. Bargain. The shaver unit is plastic but feels sturdy and the travel case protects it well. If it lasts 7 years like the 5000 then it is worth every penny.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this for my husband and he is absolutely delighted with it. He says it gives a much better shave than his previous razor and he is pleased with the features on the razor and the cleaning facility with it. Also it was half the price being asked in some other retailers. Big thumbs up

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m very impressed with how good a shave this razor gives me. Very smooth on my neck and chin. It only takes one hour to charge. I was slightly disappointed that there wasn’t the rotating light from under the charging station as some showed. It gives me the best, smoothest shave I’ve had from an electric shaver though. Worth the money. The cleaning station works really well. As soon as the razor dried after cleaning, I opened the razor and it was spotless!

Easy to order, extremely quick delivery.
Well packaged and easy to charge.
Instruction book could be better presented but reasonably easy to understand.
A great shave, a great improvement on the 5000 series.
    Recommended.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFor someone with sensitive skin I’ve always found it better to wet shave, recently however I find time is always against me. This has changed my routine in the mornings. It took a little getting used to but I love this shaver. It’s gives a close shave and has not left any rash or blemishing at all on my skin. It’s quiet and comfortable in the hand! A good purchase that I would recommend.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI bought this one to replace my Phillips SoftTouch electric razor which I have used for a number of years and I am very glad I have. This razor is very easy to use. It follows the contours on my face easily and it cuts close, quickly and smoothly. It is much quieter than my previous SoftTouch model and came with a much better power base and case. It is very slightly a bit harder to use on my upper lip, but it has not caused any issues with my sensitive skin. Battery seems ok, but a bit early to tell.

I wouldn’t bother with any of the other optional extras you can get.

Overall, I think it is good value and a great upgrade.

I love my new razor but doesn’t fully get the countour of face if you have more than 3 day stubble. But overall I’m very happy. I love the cleaning function and the convenience of it. Would recommended

Yet another excellent shaver from Philips
Only criticism is the pop out trimmer isn’t as good as older models, I could use my old one to keep my moustache trimmed, this ones trimmer feels an afterthought on an otherwise excellent shave

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersThere are two main points I look at in a shaver, and the more important of those two is the power.
Unfortunately, it’s nigh on impossible to work out what sort of power source or motor is being used but it’s relevant to someone like me with a tough mediterranean beard.

I’ve struggled in the past to get a battery powered waterproof shaver (important to be able to use it fully wet ie. in a shower) that didn’t “snag” on the beard when it was a bit longer-and this was due to the battery source/motor combination, you see with a weaker battery/motor combo, the motor could stop when overpowered with a longish tough beard.

This seems to have been taken care of with this shaver. It may be powered by a 186500 lithium Ion battery due to the longish handle, my last had a smaller 14500 lithium battery (I tried to replace it but managed to break the battery contacts unfortunately, so it went in the bin) and that phillips shaver was noticeably shorter.

This clearly is not a scientific analysis but an anecdotal one, such are most of the reviews on here, but I thought I’d share it as I could not find any reference to tough or mediterranean beard.

It’s only been a short while, but so far indications are good. I will update after I’ve had it a while, as unboxing reviews are worthless to those that need more in-depth info.

I have sensitive skin on chin and neck and so far this shaver is better in that respect but not perfect.
I couldn’t justify the expense of the 9000 range, and to all appearances, this seems to have the same battery/motor based on size comparison from the photos.

As another reviewer has mentioned-I’ll replace the cutting discs with the ones from the 9000 when replacement time comes, as this will provide a double cutting edge.
Sadly I couldn’t say that the beard trimmer was much good, but then I also have a Phillips one blade which is brilliant in that respect.

I can’t comment on the other features as I won’t use the app, always shave in the same direction and am not bothered really about the cleaning station as it can be cleaned easily under a tap, hence my second requirement-waterproof.

Lastly, it has the same charging port on the underneath as the charging cable provided, so I assume when the battery finally gives up, it can be pressed into service as a mains only shaver extending its life a little albeit not under the shower, naturally.

I hope this helps someone, I find reviews of products invaluable, and the reviews of this shaver led me to buy it-so far so good!

UPDATE 18/11/22: So far so good, I use the shaver every other day, being a tradesman, a bit of stubble is ok, so I’m happy with that frequency.
It’s still on its original charge from when I bought it and charged it up at the beginning of October! I am resisting recharging it until it gets to one bar as I know that lithium ion cells don’t like constant recharges (nor for that matter do they like being charged to 100%), so I’ll persevere with keeping an eye out for how long it gets to nearly full charge and stop it then, I may give up on that as it has no percentage indication, which would’ve been nice, but defo not a deal breaker.
The cleaning station I haven’t used yet as it’s so easy to clean under a tap with a tiny amount of liquid soap, but I will use the cleaning station say, once evry 2 or 3 months.
It’s cheaper right now, but hey, I’m still happy, it was one of those good buys that I’ll not regret.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersYears ago, I bought a “microscreen” shaver that claimed to “shave as close as a blade or your money back”… I believe that company owes me money… It merely massaged your skin.
This shaver, however, does a really good job, once you get the circle shaving motion down. Is it as close a shave as my preferred single blade safety razor? No. It is far more convenient though, wash face, slap on some pre-electric shave and 3 minutes later you look and feel much better, more human.
The shaver charges up quickly and the charge holds for a good long time, even with daily use. When it runs low, bung it on the charger and leave it for half an hour or so. If you’ve messed up and it runs out halfway through shaving, bung it on the charger for 5 or 10 minutes and it’ll finish the job for you.
The system comes with a cleaning pod. I’ve found the cleaning pod to be a great addition. After each shave, brush out the inside of the head, stick it on the pod and switch the shaver on, it does it’s thing and around a minute later, the shaver is clean, lubricated and smells nice.
I intentionally waited until I’d used the shaver for over 1 month before reviewing as it’s easy to say “it’s great” while you’re still in the “brand new in box” stage, I personally think you need to really use something like this for a while, get to know it’s quirks and how to actually get the best out of it…
So in my opinion, the shaver is excellent and I got it at what I consider a very reasonable price. I was worried the 3 blade head looked cumbersome but in actual use, it’s not. It does the bulk of your face in no time, pop out the wee trimmer to do the sides, job done.
Next, you pop the head open, brush it out and then close it and pop it on the cleaning pod… the cleaning pod, if not essential, is definitely worth using. If for no other reason, it’s antimicrobial, so less likely to end up with a dodgy skin infection.
Any doubts that it’s not doing anything will disappear the first time you need to change the cleaning solution. The amount of hairs and dead skin cells in there proves it’s doing it’s job.
The whole process from start shaving to zip up the pouch at the end takes about 5 minutes.

Great app. Comfortable to hold and to use. Hair gets collected inside the shaver so no massive cleaning job afterwards. The only downside is that it’s not always the cleanest shave, and I’ve had to supplement it by using a manual razor afterwards to get rid of stubborn hairs. The cleaning module isn’t really worth it, since after the first few cleans I’ve opened the shaver and there’s still quite a lot of hairs inside that need to be rinsed off, but the shaver itself is great.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIt’s a shaver and it does that job really well! Can’t really comment on overall battery life but in terms of charge, I’ve had it 2 weeks, used it every day and it still doesn’t need to be charged. The cleaning pod is a good idea and works well but I think could become a bit expensive if used every day (I wash it under the tap and only use the pod once a week). The app is a bit of a gimmick but does help you to use the shaver the way Philips intended (They want you to use “circular motions” rather than straight up& down, but personally I don’t think it matters that much so you get a good shave). All in all, I’m really pleased with it and would recommend it.

Built to Phillips normal standards, although holding this is quite difficult and uncomfortable.
Have used Phillips shavers for about 60 years with the occasional use of different brands mainly due to financial circumstances. The model was on offer from Amazon with a 50% price reduction at 150.00, and as my other brand unit was showing signs of problems.
Great shave as expected but the “Picture book instructions” are to my mind difficult to comprehend and I would prefer written instructions with relevant pictures.?
I expect it is to produce the “Picture book” as it universal as opposed to the Warranty which is printed in 45 languages.ol
