I have been after an electric razor due to cuts with a conventional wet razor. I was a bit reticent as I remember the old ones that were not that great. Well, I needn’t have been. This is pretty much as close to a blade as you will get. I use a trick some king of shaves oil (with silica in it) wet the face with warm water to expand the hair follicles and then use the razor. No razor burn or red marks and a great shave. It is expensive but how often do you shave and how long will it last? On a daily rate, this is nothing. Well done Philips great product.

I have had a few brands or shavers over the years, but the last Philips I had was so good (5000 series) that when that one finely started to take longer to charge (its years old) I decided to go for Philips again and although this Prestige model is a lot of money, wow, its worth every penny. A fast comfortable and smooth shave even with 5 day old stubble. The heads glide smoothly, the shaver gets every hair, even those odd funny angle ones the old shaver used to need 2 to 3 passes to get. I am delighted with this shaver and highly recommend it. One of the most obscure but useful improvements in design has to be the hinged head which makes cleaning it simpler. Philips are expensive but worth the money for the quality and the results

For over 35 years i have used a Braun shaver, was in the market for a new one and on looking this Philips took my eye. I decided to give it a go. This product is in a different league, the shave you receive is far superior to the Brawn 9 series shaver and far smoother. My only regret is not purchasing one of these years earlier. A superb shave in half the time and so much easier to clean.

Very expensive shaver …..but its the best electric shaver I’ve ever used. The quality is extremely good. You get the shaver, charger pad ,trimmer and soft buffer pad. The case is also really good quality. Overall was it worth it……. definitely. Very happy with everything about this shaver. The shave is as good as a wet shave even after a few good days of beard growth. Definitely 5 stars from me.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is the only product I can admit to having brand loyalty to. Steadily upgraded each model over the years, my last being the 5000 series. This is the best so far. You most definitely get what you pay for! I use the rotary blades because my stubble grows all over the place and I can’t wet shave for medical reasons. Based on the life span of my previous Philips shavers, I will definitely get my moneys worth out of this and look forward to many years of a nice clean shave.

I’ve only used it once, I had a three day growth, the shaver was very impressive, easy to clean after use, comes with a carrying wallet which is handy, very happy with the purchase.

Nice close shave. Also got the hairs in my neck that my previous braun series 9 couldn’t get.
Also super quick delivery in 36 hours.

Bought as a replacement for a Braun 7 circa 4.5 years old. The Phillips is quieter, gives a closer shave and appears a much more quality item. Very pleased with it. It is true that to clean the cutters is more fussy than the Braun but it is a small price to pay. 1 month into owning it, I would not go back to the Braun.

Razor is very good charging system not so god I preferred the upright charger didn’t take so much room up on window sill in bathroom where you can’t plug in because power point is no where nea

I particularly liked the WiFi charging aspect of my shaver. This makes the use very convenient. It is more efficient than any of the shavers I’ve previously tried. Would recommend this product to others.

Wow, I had a 5 day growth on an old floppy face.
A lovely clean shave with no irritation, only used 10% of battery. Can’t wait to use use the beard trimmer attachment on my balding head when it’s grown a bit.
It charged back up on the wireless charger in no time and then i charged my phones on it to.
Thankyou amazon for a good black friday deal , I actually tried to cancle order to get a braun series 9 foil shaver instead but was to late , and I’m glad about that.

This gives a fantastic shave which you notice by the lack of regrowth in the evening. The cleaning is fiddly because the head has to come off completely (it isn’t hinged) a point made in other reviews. However, don’t let that put you off getting a brilliant and comfortable shave with little effort.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSometimes I wet shave, sometimes I electric shave and sometimes I don’t shave at all for days on end.
Braun 7 was pretty good but this is amazing. Way better. The claim that it can cope painlessly with 7 day’s stubble is true.
I have awkward hairs in the corners of my mouth. Wet shaving does nor always work, the Braun was not good, but this shaver cracks it. Pricey but no regrets at all.

I had a Philips electric shave around 10 years ago and a Braun top of the range about 5 years ago.

The Philips gives an absolutely great shave in terms of closeness and no irritation. However it leaves a few hairs behind and I do need a regular blade.

The charge lasts a long time as well, very easy to clean.

A very smooth shave in just a few seconds. The shaver has a premium feel, great battery life and feels good in the hand. Charging is a joy as you just put it on the charging mat that is included (or any wireless charger) and away you go. The only aspect that could be better is the emptying of the stubble – it’s not very difficult but not as easy as the older models. It’s certainly though the best shaver I’ve used in 35 years of using them.

Shaving is a very individual thing, I had recently purchased a series 9 Braun over the Philips and was reasonably happy with it. I still had an urge to try the Philips so took the plunge, I only wish I’d gone for the Philips in the first place. An electric Shaver is never going to be as good as a wet shave but the Philips is pretty close, it’s now my go to Shaver.

I have now been using this product for about a month. The shave is excellent – the best I have had in many years of using electric razors. The razor is easy to hold and clean. At home it sits on a pad which you plug into a USB socket and recharges wirelessly from the pad. On holiday for 10 days, I did not recharge it and found that it lost just less than 30% of its charge. My holiday was by car; and this leads to my only negative. The box, pad and razor together are more bulky than most electric razors and will take up quite a lot of room in your luggage if you are flying somewhere. I would thoroughly recommend this as your main shaver, but you may wish to keep a smaller, more portable one if you are going abroad.

I have had Philips razors for over forty years this is my third wet and dry the last one lasted 9 to 10 years and will that was very good this is very good I would say the shave I get with this razor is as good as any normal type razor I have used and does not cause the burning sensation you can see with a conventional razo

I suffer with soft skin and tough bristles. Usually ending in a rashes up face. This razor is the first one I have had to not cause rashes.
It spins so fast and cuts 3 day growth in minutes. Super easy to clean and has a very neat charger.
The first thing I said after using it was “why didn’t I get this earlier”
Worth every penny of its hefty price tag

Bought this to replace my old electric razor. Very light and easy to use. Gives a good shave but cannot get the hairs under your nose shaved properly. Also does not give a sharp edge to your sideburns. Not sure it’s worth the money but we’ll see.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis gives the closest shave of any electric shave I’ve previously had, not as close as a wet shave but close enough and much kinder on the skin. It’s expensive but the closeness of the shave, easy cleaning (run it under the tap) and the wireless charging are great features to have. As with all Philips shavers of this type I find that while. While comfortable to hold it is easy to press the on/off switch by mistake but over time you learn to avoid that. If you want a good choice to move from wet razor shaving to the convenience of electric then this fits the bill.

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersWithin 1 hour of delivery, I was wanting to write a review starting with the word “Wow”. However, I thought better and best not to be rash, I’d better give it a month. So now, a month later….

Wow, what a shaver! This gives me a really smooth and easy shave that I haven’t had from a wet shave or my Braun Series 9 foil shaver.

    Read on ……

Up to the age of about 58, I’d wet shaved all my life. I’d tried a few electric shavers, nothing I got on with. However, as I got older, I started nicking my skin and bleeding more and more often, so I thought I’d move to electric. After much internet research I brought a Braun Series 9. I’ve had it now for almost 6 years.

The problem with the Braun is that it never shaved that close. It left like a furry residual on parts of my cheeks. My wife often noticed whole patches that she thought I’d missed, she called them my “forests”. This is despite me meticulously ensuring every square cm of my face was shaved.

About 2 months ago, I noticed things were getting worse. Now, my friends were commentating. Also, there was a small tuft of about 6 hairs that had grown relatively long. Nothing I did with the braun got rid of the furry residuals, the “forests” and these 6 hairs. I brought a new foil to make sure , but that didn’t help.

So I thought I’d try something different. I went for this model because (a) it wasn’t a foil shaver like my Braun and (b) it was supposedly the best one that Philips made, and as I’d got problems, I suspected a low-end model wouldn’t help.

I ordered this from Amazon for next day delivery, and didn’t shave the next morning of the delivery. The shaver duly arrived, I charged it for about 30 mins, and then had a shave . Preto, everything went with barely no effort. The furry residual went, the “forests” and the 6 long(ish) hairs. Just like that. That was a month ago, and I’ve since shaved most days and it has behaved perfectly every day. I tried not shaving for 2 days, so I had 3 days growth, and again it just worked great.

I’m sold on it. Of course everyone’s skin and hair is different, I’m sure the Braun works better for some people. But for me and my skin, this shaver is what I wish I’d had decades ago.

On other notes, while searching the reviews, a few of the reviewers said they didn’t like the wireless QI charing pad. I really don’t know why, that works great, I just quickly plonk the shaver on it and it charges it for the next day. I also have a Samsung phone and an iPhone, both of which I wireless charge, and the nice thing is these QI wireless chargers are all the same, meaning I can charge my iPhone on the Philips shaver charger and charge my shaver on my iPhone charger.

One last point (sorry to bore you). A few reviews complained about cleaning it. The Braun Series 9 had a cleaning and docking station which was very good and very easy. The problem with that was the cartridges were quite expensive, so , like many others it seems, I ended up manually cleaning the Braun 80% of the time to save money on the cartridge, so really there isn’t much difference between my Braun with a cleaning/docking station and the Philips in terms of cleaning.

Right, now to stop writing reviews and get on with something else !

i recieved my shaver on time i must say i am very happy with it even though its not cheap its just something you have to get cos it will last for many many years my 15 year old phillishave (james bond) ive had very good use out of is finally giving up needing a new head frame and new blades which are original i must add so buying this new phillips shaver i think is a good investment. once again an excellent delivery service from amazon.. very happy customer.

Firstly…. this is hands down the best electric shaver I have I ever used. I’ve had all the previous Philips top models, the braun 7,8 an 9. Panasonic multi heads …. the lot! All leave stubble on the neck, not this, its as good as a wet shave. I was using the Gillette labs until this, its that good!
Secondly, the build quality is shockingly poor, its all plastic! The chrome front is not well plated, the shaver feels too light and the screen seems very 1990s.
Not too sure about the charging plate, i know it’s the in thing for phones and more of a gimmick really…
The shaver is probably comparable to a Range Rover car, highly capable, expensive, and badly built.

Ok it’s expensive. But in this case you get what you pay for. A super close shave. Easy to clean and comfortable to hold. Motor surprisingly quiet. Quick charging, and convenient if you already have Qi compatible chargers for your cell phone. If you have dry, sensitive skin like me, then a shave balm is a must. I have found one that works well with electric shavers and it works brilliantly. I hate shaving but now I can go at least 4 days without needing to shave again. I wish Philips included a wall mount but that’s just me.

So, like many of you looking at this product, I was reading all the rotary v foil reviews, what people have said about Braun, Panasonic and Phillips.
I’ve used a Braun series 7 for the last 6 years and it’s getting a bit tired, I have recently changed the head to try breath new life into it but it didn’t make much difference really. I have to say the series 7 was a brilliant razor and I was worried this ridiculously expensive razor would fall short, what with it being rotary and all. Full disclaimer here I’ve only just received this razor so this is my initial thoughts only, I can’t comment on battery life as I’ve not had it long enough but what I did want to say was this, I’ve only used the slow mode, or comfort more whatever you want to call it, it so quiet and feels almost weak to be honest but that appears to be really deceptive as it shaves really close, and I do mean really close for an electric razor even in the easy going mode. I didn’t even feel it cutting, it’s a strange feeling as it almost feels like you’re just moving an inanimate object over your face but behind it your face is super smooth. To conclude, I’ve owed the series 7 for years and I think years ago another rotary but I’ve been totally shocked by how good this was on my first few shaves and even more shocked at how much closer a shave it is over the the so called foil razor. I don’t know if the latest Panasonic or Braun can be closer than this but if they are, they must be removing skin I think. Even stroking my face up against the grain after its hard to feel any stubble at all, yes it’s like a wet shave.

Long story short : Looks great, but it is quite plastic. Work very good on short stubble and honestly feels like silk on the face. Tache area is quite awkward. Longer hair becomes a bit more of a struggle Charging pad works and looks great. Not to big. Great to use on your desk. Charges my phone as well (Not sure if that is safe though).

Item came quickly. Packaged well. Box was sealed. All boxes ticked. Came with a warranty card – which I tried to use but did not work on the Philips website. But looked authentic

Opened the packaging – the electric shaver looked amazing. One of the reasons I took an interest in it. It looks beautiful. And so does the wireless charger (which charges my phone as well). The case is okay. Would have expected better quality. The head for the cleanser part is rather small – but not a problem.

After viewing the shaver. I held it and it seemed to feel cheaper then it looked. Very light. But still looked good. Just a little less luxurious then I expected. The shaver had 10% charge when I got it. The display shows the power settings and battery life – and the screen looks great.

The shaver sits perfectly on the wireless charger – which does not take up to much space on a desk.

The actual shaver works smoothly on my face. I used it on 3 day stubble and it shaved it with no issues. In fact I barely felt it on my skin. One of the best and quickest shaves I had. In total I shaved my whole face in minutes, with nothing left over. I than tried it on my 3 week tache. And here’s where the shaver became a 4 star rather then a 5 star. The shaver started to pull my skin, I had to work harder and in total I had to go over the same area a few times. Now I dont know if this is because it was 3 week of hair or the area but I do wonder if a foil shaver would shave that area of the face better wheras the three head shaver works better on the neck.

All in all I am very happy with the purchase. The wireless charger – after reading some reviews – i would have thought would be to big, but it turned out to be a great additional.

The changing of heads and foils worry me a bit as you have to put a bit of force rather then using mechanisms to remove them.

The main question would be – would I buy it again? The answer is Yes. However it is expensive – and that should/would put some people off. The other issue is i would need to buy a foil shaver to complement this due to the issues with it shaving this area. That part of my face was left sore after the shave. I brought this for convenience and because my other half always complaint when I shave in a hurry I leave some areas unshaved. This helps with that issue. But I’m also having to use other razors to get that to work for me.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI have used Philips shavers for many years and they last well. This is a great shaver that shaves close and is comfortable to use. However, it is not an order of magnitude better than previous models and at this price it should be. On the downside, the case material feels much flimsier than previous models, the battery life is about half, and some of the attachments shown in the instruction diagram (nose hair clipper) are not supplied. At this price and given its their flagship product it should exceed previous models in all areas and all available attachments should be included. Lastly the unit comes only with a hard carry case which takes all of the supplied parts and is quite large. Its size is dictated largely by the charger. It would be useful to have an additional soft case designed solely for the shaver itself, that could be used for overnight trips or short business trips where a recharge would not be needed and you were travelling light, (eg: hand luggage only).

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI bought this shaver a month back and it’s perfect for someone like me who shaves once a week. I had read about it that it can shave beards upto 7 days old and now I believe it does. It gives a pretty close shave (although foil blade shavers may give more closer shave). The blades don’t get warm either. I would recommend using a pre shave lotion. I use Speick pre shave lotion. It’s all i need. Apply it and wait for a minute and get a smooth shaving experience. No cuts and no skin irritation. The battery time is quite good as well. I use upto 10 to 14 percent each time depending on how long it takes to shave. It’s also very easy to clean under normal tap water.
I would also recommend using an aftershave lotion/balm to keep your skin nice and moisturized as with any electric shaver the skin tends to get a bit dry.
It also has an awesome trimmer.
A bit expensive but overall I am very pleased with the results.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great shaver.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersOK its not cheap but this is a superb shaver, It looks good, feels solid and quality. As a lifelong Phillips shaver user from 18 ish with bumfluff to well into my 60s I was always pretty well satisfied with Phillips shavers, special occasions though and out would come the wet razor and sometimes the hairs would drag a little if I hadn’t shaved for a couple of days. This Prestige model though negates completely a wet shave and does indeed cope with a few days growth- no pain, no dragging hairs just a super smooth shave – well worth every penny spent on buying it.
I bought the model with the cordless charging and pleased I did so – to me it completes the package.

I don’t like the cheap trimmer attachment I suspect it will never get used and the travel case that comes with the shaver is so bulky – so that’s thrown in a wardrobe and will never see the light of day – I have my old plastic Phillips shaver case in the bathroom and put the Prestige in that between shaves.

This without doubt is the very best Shaver I’ve ever used – and by a long way

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’ve always used Philips and my last shave was a sensotouch 3D – equally shamefully priced and probably the worst of the shavers I bought, so I was a little hesitant whether to buy this one.

Bottom line it’s probably the best one I’ve used, really good shave and handles those tricky side of the neck hairs (that the sensotouch was useless with) with no issues at all.

The sensotouch also couldn’t shave the hairs under your nose but the clipper function (built into the shaver) solved that problem. This shaver doesn’t have that capability which again did worry me, however it can shave under the nose with no issues as well.

It does seem a little bit more plastic than the old sensotouch and pulling the head off for cleaning was a little scary at first as it seemed so fragile, but it’s not really and is actually easier to clean.

If you can get over the price, it’s actually a pretty damn good shaver.

Golden Review Award: 28 From Our UsersElectric shavers are like buying fruit from the supermarket: you never know what you are going to get. I have bought Philips shavers for many years and there seems to be no assurance that the next will be as good as the last. Philips have an annoying habit of changing some part of the shaver that works well for something that works less well.

But the Prestige 9000 is simply the best shaver I have ever bought. You might say: “so it should be for that price!” and I would have to agree. But price is no guarantee of satisfaction where electric shavers are concerned. The last time I bought a shaver I was so fed up with Philips that I bought a Braun. For me, it was a complete waste of money and was even worse than the Philishave that I was dissatisfied with.

So, it was with some trepidation that I ordered the Prestige. But what a marvel this machine is! It shaves closer than any previous shaver and I did not even have to adjust the setting. I often let my beard grow for a few days (sheer laziness!) but it does not find even a fairly heavy growth problematic and cuts through it with a reassuring ease.

It also gives a clear indication of how much time is left until you need to recharge.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI have had this razor for over a month now, and feel that I have used it enough to justify a review. I have always used Philips razors, and had my last one for over 10 years. This gives a seriously impressive shave. Even though, to date, I have only used it as a dry razor, it leaves me as smooth as when I used to occasionally use a traditional razor, shaving oil, etc. The fact that it holds 100 minutes of charge also means that you can easily go away on holiday for a fortnight, and shave once a day, without even needing to take the charger. I would have rather have had the nose hair trimmer than the facial massage brush, but that is a small quibble. It is expensive, and I was lucky to get it on Amazon on a ‘one day special’ offer of 310, which was an absolute bargain. So well done Philips, and Amazon.
