I bought myself a Oral B IO 6 a few months ago, then recently I bought this Philips one for my wife.
Having tried them both I have switched to the Philips for myself.
It has a much more premium feel in use, refined and comfortable on my gums. This is in part due to the brush size, but also the ability to select different speeds with one model.

This product has effectively improved my oral hygiene with its four precise modes.

Each mode is unique and improves one or more areas of your mouth, from gum health, to whitening of your teeth.

My hygienist has been hounding me to get a Phillips electric toothbrush for years, and now I know why!

    Would 10/10 recommend!

My only gripe, if anything, is that you cannot charge it with a normal plug, it requires a specific plug that is typically in bathrooms.

The reviews outside of Amazon were all very positive.

They often spoke about being recommended by dentists and just how squeaky clean your teeth feel after a while. I bought this item in an Amazon sale and quickly found that my teeth started to squeak if I ground my teeth.

In conjunction with a good toothpaste, my teeth are cleaner, brighter and whiter than they have been in a long time. I am a big fan of both coffee and red wine. Neither of these are kind to the teeth.

It needs to be charged every 2-3 weeks with normal use. The toothbrush has four different settings. I cannot see or feel what the difference between them is, but irrespective of that the end results are really good.

I have tried other electric toothbrushes, but this one is much better than any of them. Wait for a Black Friday sale or similar event to get them at a good price. You can use the browser extension CamelCamelCamel to to track prices and alert you when the price drops to your target.

If you buy this toothbrush you will not be disappointed.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersBought it during the Prime days for a very good price to replace an older Oral-B brush. This brush really does an amazing job and leaves you with a very clean feeling, it comes with two different heads and has a very nice premium material and feel to it. The battery lasts quite long and doesn’t require charging every couple day. Would definitely recommend but maybe not for the full price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great brush!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersUsing it can lower your dentist bill, for sure. This justifies to pay the price for this toothbrush, which really works fine. You can charge your toothbrush now also in the box. The charging unit for charging the toothbrush in a standing position is for my taste a bit too light as it does not provide a solid stand given some tension coming from the cable. Otherwise I’m happy with my purchase.

Now my teeth are shiny and with the appropriate toothpaste, whiter. However, I still need to use dental floss to clean between my teeth where the toothbrush cannot reach, but I’m okay with that.

I’ve been using a normal tooth brush for ages and then moved over to this electric one and it’s great! It’s really true when it says white teeth in a week my teeth were very clean and whiter by the 5th day. I would definitely recommend.

I bought a diamond clean back in 2018… it’s finally given up the ghost so I’ve bought this one… little bit cheaper but I don’t need all the razzmatazz so
I’ve used other manufacturers (left the philips at home when going on hols so I bought an oral b) they don’t come close to the sonicare…
Hadn’t been to dentist for 4-5 years… he said I don’t know what your doing but keep doing it; your teeth are spotless. Resul

This toothbrush has really performed great so far as it has been a few months since I have purchased it and I took my time to test it thoroughly before writing a review. It does its intended purpose, you can choose between a few different modes and speeds and you can also charge it two different ways – by using the travel case or just by using a cable (both come within the original box) and the battery last for about a week or so when me and my girlfriend are both using it twice a day each. I would recommend it!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI am SO late to this party! I had been using a regular electric toothbrush, plus whitening strips, plus a polisher, plus a calculus/plaque remover. Why have I been wasting so much time? I drink a lot of black tea and my hygienist is always “tsk-ing” over my teeth. They’re not that bad but they are usually slightly discoloured. Sometimes very much so.
Not no more! This toothbrush had an immediate effect on how clean my teeth felt (and has subsequently eliminated the plaque build up on my teeth), and a visible difference in maybe three days. I had ‘white’ teeth within two weeks. They’re not Chiclet-white, they’re ‘normal’ white. But they are definitely white. Not just whiter. Actually white.
I like the fact that the case plugs into a regular charger; no need to bring odd-shaped chargers on extended holidays. There is space in the case for two toothbrush heads. I swapped one out for an interdental head, to really get behind my upper teeth. I use this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08N4PZTNQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

The case that comes with it is literally useless. It has no anibacterial light. I has no built-in charger – so you can not plug it in and charge inside the case, you always need to use a pin-stand. It is just a bare piece of plastic to put your brush in. Ah and the cherry on top – there is no space for charger inside the case, lol. So you it utterly useless.

The brash itself does the job well. Brushing in different modes, so my dentist is satisfied on routine checks and pass mark can be given here 🙂

I’ve been buying Sonicare toothbrushes for a long time, and as always the toothbrush is a great use.

    It feels good to hold.

The battery life is good at between 2 – 3 weeks (brushing twice a day, every day!).

My old brush would send you a little vibration every 30 seconds to move the brush to another part of your mouth. This does 20 seconds, which doesn’t make sense to me!

The travel case comes with a charging slot, so it’s really handy if you’re going on your holidays.

    Definitely worth buying.

The Philips Sonicare Series 7900 is equipped with cutting-edge whitening technology that goes beyond mere cleaning. The sonic action, combined with specially designed brush heads, helps to remove surface stains, leaving your teeth visibly brighter and whiter. This feature is a game-changer for those seeking not just oral health but also a radiant smile.

Bringing oral care into the digital age, the toothbrush seamlessly connects with a dedicated app to provide real-time feedback and insights. The app guides you through personalized brushing routines, ensuring that you cover all areas for the recommended duration. This smart integration transforms your brushing routine into an interactive and educational experience, promoting better oral health habits.

The built-in pressure sensor is a standout feature, safeguarding your gums from overzealous brushing. When too much pressure is applied, the toothbrush alerts you, prompting a gentler approach. This not only protects your gums from potential damage but also ensures that your brushing technique is optimal for maintaining healthy teeth and gums.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersLove it! Originally had the 5100 sonicare. Loved that but gave up after a few years and refused to charge. Then had manual but always hated brushing my teeth as it didn’t feel as clean and don’t like the sensation of a manual toothbrush. Saw this on Boxing Day sale for 89.99 and just had to snap it up. It has more modes than my last one which only had three. I love the different modes as you feel like your teeth are getting a deep clean. You can chose the sensitivity which is great as it can be quite loud on the highest setting. Like being at the dentist! Really impressed as this was delivered before it said it would be, and got the free shipping. Think it came within a day. Was also charged which is a bonus. Would recommend signing up for the extra year warranty, it comes in the package and takes a few minutes but definitely worth it. A downside to these toothbrushes is they do give up sometimes sooner than expected, hopefully this won’t as it’s a newer model. Also you might need a two pin adapter as it’s a two pin plug! You can order a Phillips charger with the normal plug, I did this as charger can get wet in bathroom and just cause problems. So happy I managed to catch it whilst there was a deal. Deffo recommend.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is my fourth (or fifth?) Philips Sonicare toothbrush. They are very good initially, but I’ve found they tend to “die” shortly after the expiry of the warranty. My dentist and dental hygienist both complement me on my dental care, so I persevere with purchasing replacement Sonicare brushes! This one seemed a fair balance between the very expensive and the basic models

I had a cheaper Phillips toothbrush and it didn’t feel like it was cleaning my teeth and the battery didn’t last long.

This product can be pricey, but best picked up in Sales like Black Friday.

It feels sturdy and easily gripped if that makes sense. It also has various power and clean settings. I prefer Clean+ or Gums cleaning and it makes my teeth and gums feel really clean.

The battery is better and I would say average, but with most toothbrushes it is not the best. It does last for a week at the least, which is handy.

Deffo a good purchase to keep the pearly whites clean and I would always advise buying a water flosser (any brand), your mouth will thank you for it!

Have had a Sonicare for a few years now and been happy with it but the battery isn’t holding charge very well now. Very impressed so far.

I’ve had Oral B electric toothbrushes for over 10 years now. When my most recent one stopped working after 2 years use I decided to try Phillips instead. My first impression is that the toothbrush looks amazing, high quality and well made. It feels good to hold, not chunky and sits nicely in the hand. I also like that the toothbrush heads come with protective covers. I’ve used the toothbrush for a few days now and I’m so impressed. I find it far superior to any Oral B I’ve had. I used the Deep Clean mode the first time and honestly felt like I’d come out of a hygienist appointment. Since then I’ve been using the Whitening mode and this also feels great. I prefer the shape of the toothbrush head, it doesn’t seem to irritate my gums plus it feels like it actually gets between the teeth better. Extremely happy with it so far, and a massive improvement on its rival.

This upgrade has more modes that do actually work differently & come complete with travel case.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersHad this 7900 for a few weeks now and very happy with the toothbrush.
    Positives
Used a rival round head brush for many years and this just leaves my teeth and gums feeling so much cleaner.
its a more gentle but very efficient cleaning experience
Love the travelling case that can also be used to charge the brush
    Negatives
battery life is great compared to my last brush but is nothing like the claimed 2 to 3 weeks brushing twice a day as claimed by Phillips. I can manage 9 days brushing twice a day which is more than acceptable to me but as with all manufacturers battery life boasts its total nonsense.
The app! What a lot of garbage. It tells you how often you have brushed. Tells you how many times you can use the brush. For battery life forget getting an accurate % remaining, it always says “good” that’s it . That’s what the app does.
In summary, I am converted to Sonicare and love the Brush.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersLovely colour and lots of functions…
Altgough I’ve no idea how much of a difference they all make to be honest… tried out a couple of different ones almost by accident and teeth feel nice and clean each time.

I think if you have sensitive teeth, having the 3 intensity levels is helpful so you can have it on low.
I can definitely feel the difference when brushing between the 3 settings!

I know it shouldn’t really matter but I do like the colour, too!

Two reasons it doesn’t get five stars from me:
    1) the travel case is HUGE. Unnecessarily large. Like, as big as my normal washbag.
I know it doubles as a charger case, but come on Phillips you could have made it smaller. It basically means I won’t use the case ever.
Luckily it comes with case charger and also normal charger, so no problems there. Also comes with two heads both of which have covers which I use for travel to keep the head clean.

Reason 2 it doesnt get 5 *, it’s a lot of money and I’m not sure it’s that much better than previous, now cheaper, models…
If you havent got a phillips toothbrush yet, id say maybe splash out, if you’re wondering whether it’s worth the upgrade, I’d say no. ( I had one of the previous versions before I got this one (black one shown in one of the review photos))

But overall it does a grand job of fulfilling its primary function of getting my teeth really clean so it’s still getting 4 stars from me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product keeps my teeth really clea

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy gum health has definitely improved using this, even with the whitening heads. I highly recommend the brush but the price is too high and the battery needs charging twice a week when brushing twice a day at regular setting. I got mine from the warehouse so maybe it’s a faulty one. Love the travel case and reckon the brush charges quick using it. It’s a shame there nowhere to store the charging cable. It’s quiet apparently, everyone else has said so (friend works nights and can’t hear me in next room) but obviously it’s inside my skull when I’m using it so it sounds loud to me. I do not regret this purchase, only not five stars due to the excessive price – which is standard compared to other brands but that’s not the point, they’d also lose stars.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersWe have bought two of these to replace earlier models with almost identical design. For us they are far superior to the rotating round head varieties which is too harsh on gums, especially for more rounded front teeth.

Battery life is excellent and I particularly like that Philips have added a second button to avoid the accidental mode change the earlier models were prone to due to having to wait 5 seconds before turning off.

The one concern is the same as with the earlier model as both this one and those share an identical metal part that is the piece the brush mounts to and can be prone to snap internally even though the design is Philips second version for that part. The failure causes the brush head to wobble excessively and a much louder noise. That type of failure affected both our previous brushes bought only two years ago and use by one person each, and we’re giving it one more go with these as we like the toothbrushes in other respects.

The only saving grace with the failure mentioned above is that for about 15 a spare part is available but getting these brushes apart is not easy without breaking one or more of the internal clips even with a lot of equipment for opening small devices. Some thread locking fluid is also required which I already had but another expense for many when repairing and such failures after 2 years use by one person is not expected (our previous rotating head electric toothbrushes lasted 5 or 6 years until the lithium batteries gave out).

I had this electric toothbrush as an Xmas gift and have used it since then. I have had an electric toothbrush for years. It took a little time to get used to the different sensation of the Sonic brush however, I like the feel of it, the app is really good and the charging case worked really well on a recent trip abroad. Best of all.. this week I had my routine 6 month appointment with my hygienist, apart from the new tooth brush I haven’t changed anything in my dental routine. My teeth are in good condition anyway but this time she asked what I had done differently as they were the best she had ever seen them. Really pleased

I have changed from using an electric toothbrush to this Phillips sonic electric toothbrush and notice how much cleaner my teeth are now. I like everything about the sonic toothbrush except that the brush heads are so large that I keep hitting my teeth elsewhere in my mouth which is worrying me that I might chip or crack a tooth. I have spoken to customer service who tell me there are no smaller brush heads and the children’s small brush head will not fit an adults toothbrush. Disappointing. Other than that it is great, I love the different settings and speeds, the charge lasts a long time and the results are really clean teeth.

The new case on this generation of Philips has room for a head protector, unlike the first gen charger cases. The battery lasts 2 weeks which isn’t as good as older models and I think the head shaft could still snap the way every other I’ve owned does after a few years.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI previously had owned a Philips Sonic toothbrush ( x mas gift) and it wasn’t until it reach its life’s end that I realised how good a product it actually was not prepared to fork out for a new one I tried various different cheaper options but just couldn’t get the results I had become accustomed to with the Sonic. Eventually I came across the offer on Amazon and I really appreciate my new toothbrush
This product comes with 4 replacement heads which is great value. It has various selections for teeth care – deep clean/gum care/whitening- select which one before pressing the button that starts the motion. There are 3 motion levels to choose from which is great as I have a dental crown and the lower level is great.
There are 2 charging options – usb & case or stand & 2pin plug . I find the Sonicare is gentle with nice motion as opposed to circular abrasive brands that I tried. The The Philips Sonicare has different models and price ranges to choose from. I definitely love this product and am all for avoiding dental issues and costs so well worth the investme

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis toothbrush is great, certainly the best electric one that I’ve ever had. I’ve always found it hard to get that smooth feeling on my teeth no matter how long I’ve brushed for. So on my hygienist’s recommendation I decided to give this a go. Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersReplaced my electric toothbrush of about 10 years with this model. I was obsessed with how smooth and clean my teeth felt for weeks afterwards!

Looks stylish and the carry case is really handy. Before, I would just take a handheld toothbrush away with me, but I’ve realised how convenient it is to have it all the time and not just as a luxury for at home!

I haven’t used the app or anything so can’t comment on that. To be honest, it doesn’t interest me… I just want to clean my teeth, and relish a few moments not on my phone!

My only annoyance is the battery life. I read that it should hold charge for 14 days, but a full charge probably holds for just over a week. My 10 year old toothbrush still held charge for longer! Annoying.

Saying that, the pros outweigh that con and I’m happy with my purchase.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersGreat brush as usual. But please be aware that the charging stand comes only with an EU plug, so you do need a converter for UK sockets (the traveling charging case does not have the problem, though, for it’s USB powered – you technically can live without the charging stand, but I still think I am entitled to get one that can work properly in the UK).

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe tooth brush arrived on time and works perfectly. No problems or real concerns after first week. Only thought is that they have changed the four step operation to six and it’s taken a long time to change my brushing sequence. On the whole, I preferred the four step approach. It also looks to be requiring more frequent recharges, that could perhaps be down to the six step change, but I need more time to understand that one. Great job love it.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI bought this toothbrush for my puppy dog, who’s used to getting her teeth cleaned with a manual brush and special enzymatic dog toothpaste. I’m keen to keep her nice, new big girl teeth clean to avoid dental issues later on – dogs generally need a general anaesthetic to get their teeth scaled (so I’ve been told) so I’d rather avoid that. Plus, dogs can’t tell you they have toothache, which must be pretty annoying.

This brush comes with various modes, and you can select the intensity of each mode separately. It goes from very gentle to rather vigorous. Unlike normal electric brushes, it doesn’t “move” per say, it just vibrates very quickly and cleans that way.

My puppy was initially caught by surprise when I turned it on in her mouth, but it didn’t spook her. She just went cross-eyed for a few seconds then lay down enjoying the feeling. Feeling her teeth afterwards, they were squeaky clean, and that’s before the toothpaste had a chance to do its thing and break down any dirt.

The brush feels well made, and looks good too. It comes with a travel case that also has a micro-USB port (not type C, the slightly older version) which charges the brush for you. I prefer this to the included charging stand that plugs into the shaver socket. If you plug it in whilst closed, it even beeps to tell you it’s charging, which is a nice touch.

The battery is lithium ion, too, so frequent charging isn’t an issue, unlike most brushes which have NiMH batteries.

All in all, it seems like a cracking product. It’s exactly what I would expect from Philips.

I’m now going to buy one for myself to replace an aging, fairly basic Oral-B brush.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersBased on its primary job as a tool to clean teeth with, it’s brilliant. It feels like a really powerful clean but doesn’t hurt and with little to no bleeding of the gums. I don’t have any issues with it in that respect.

The app integration is a nice idea. It helps track the amount of times you clean your teeth and also the life of the heads. I like how it can track each unique head. It’s not a game changer though.

At this price point I find it poor that you can’t add multiple users and assign a brush head for each one. I’ve not done enough research on the Phillips range so don’t know if this is an option on more premium handles but really it’s just software so not hard for them to enable. I can manage different users on my 30 bathroom scales so it’s a bit cheap of Phillips if I’m honest. If they expect you to buy a 100+ handle for each person in your household then they’re not being realistic.

Another point on connectivity is that this is actually my second handle after I had to return the first because it kept losing bluetooth connectivity (Phillips advice since they couldn’t fix it). I’m having the same issue with the second one so clearly this is an issue with the firmware or iOS software. It’s a bit annoying having to re-pair it every week.

Bought this as a replacement. Have been using this particular make for many years. The brush handle will recognise the brush head and automatically select the correct mode. Has a quad pacer and is easy to use. Cleans the teeth really well. Brilliant for travelling, the ability to also charge in the case with USB is useful. The travel case accommodates the handle plus two brush heads with covers. Not overly impressed with the battery life between charges but at least it indicates remaining charge so you can recharge before it runs out. I like this toothbrush however, after a few weeks it broke! If not for that I would have given it five stars. Philips replaced it free of charge, no quibbles. Expensive but just about worth it. Will buy again when this one gives up the ghost!

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersFirstly, I’ve always used, and have been recommended by dentists to use Oral B, but having had one for years and seeing the good price of this on Prime day, I decided to take a gamble.
Honestly, the cleaning with this is far superior to my old brush. I have problem gums and even using the whitening head supplied, I’ve had no discomfort at all -my teeth feel cleaner and wow, look so much cleaner. They actually sparkle!
If reviewing the cleaning capability alone I would have probably given it a 5, but…

The app is actually pretty useless and use of the new brush was delayed, as I could not create or log into Philips account on an android phone, tablet etc – all fields filled in just reverted back to blank.
Customer services tried to help, but just weren’t really that helpful at all.
Problem sorted eventually, so if you’re having the same problem – log in using Google on the registration page. That works.
Next, connectivity between the app and unit is quite poor, which is annoying. Plus the app, does not really show you anything than a timer ( which should maybe bleep or something, as when I’m actually brushing I’m looking in the mirror or down into the sink – not at the phone!)
Whilst the unit seems to recognise which brush head I’m using, the app does not.
The app kept saying I was using a non-smart brush head, so I tried another head (a C2 which I bought in addition to this set). It recognised that, so I changed it back to the whitening head. Again toothbrush flashed “whitening”, but two days later app still thinks I’m using the C2!

So, don’t buy this just because of the app. It’s pretty useless. But, as I said, the cleaning is very, very good.

Golden Review Award: 24 From Our UsersI bought this to replace my existing (cheaper) philips sonic brush that stopped working after 5 years.

    The good:
Like the old version I had and pretty much every model, its a very effective electric toothbrush, and whilst this is subjective, I do prefer this type of brush to the rotating type. I do feel the battery life is a little less than my previous one though, otherwise the cleaning power is identical. it also has a VERY useful travel case, that stores two heads (one for me, one for my wife) and also as a bonus it has a MicroUSB socket so can charge the body whilst int he case via standard USB, so you dont need to take the stand charger with its two prongs shaver plug when travelling.

Also, despite not being made clear, it DOES work with older brush heads, including clones, without the “BrushSync” tech (see bellow)

It also has Bluetooth and an app, though I have not used it (as both my wife and I use it) I dont think it has much longevity beyond its novelity, plus obvious privacy issues.

The real issue I have with this is the pricing structure.

The cheapest version is nearly a third of the price of this model, and is just as good at brushing your teeth and having used both cheaper and more expensive version i cannot visually see much if any difference.

The additional “features” of this head are relatively trivial to implement, often just software changes, such as the brush modes, and intensity, yet a huge markup is given to each “feature” as you go up the chain. Even where there is some non trivial change, like bluetooth the additional retail cost seems excessive.

Dont get me wrong, some of the feature may have some value, but the additional cost just does not add up makign the more expensive models seem extremely poor value for money, once you actually start comparing objectively.

As such I am giving this model a 3 star, and neither recommending or suggesting to avoid this model, because as a sonic care tooth brush, it is very good at cleaning your teeth (like all of them), but i absolutely do not agree with the pricing structure of higher models.
