I had a Remington R9 with floating heads etc, it was almost useless at removing stubborn stubble. This R6 had favourable reviews so I purchased it. I was not disappointed it gives a very close shave and removes stubborn stubble easily. It fits into ones hand nicely and is very easy to clean, I wish I had purchased it years ago. In future I will stick with the R6 great shaver.
Works well. Smooth, comfortable shave with no pulling. You need a USB charger – the special cable is included but not a charger but you can use any regular USB-A charger. Nice shaver at this price point.
I replaced my Panasonic foil razor with this, and considering it is a lot cheaper I am amazed that it performs better than the Panasonic, I have only had it for a week and use it daily shave is close enough for me, but not completely smooth
Good shaver and more powerful than my replacement Philips rotary shaver which seemed under powered.. pop up timer is too flimsy feels as if it could break quite easily though I don’t require it often but all in all a really good shaver and very easy to clea
Been using it now for 7 days and it would appear that the battery is good for at least a further 3 days. The shave, with the 3 floating heads is almost as good as a wet shave with no chance of cuts. Washing the unit is far better than taking the head apart and brushing and blowing to clean it. With a 3 year guarantee I am optimistic as to the life of this product. Only time will tell. I hope to add to this review after at least 2 years to update the good and the bad.
Great shaver my only downfall on this product is that it didn’t come with a battery charging holder, I would have have paid more for one with a charger holder if I had know
Only had it a few weeks but seems good. Haven’t had to charge it yet so battery life is looking good. Cuts as well as previous shaver (a Philips) so can’t complain there either (neither gave a really smooth cut in certain areas such as edge of the jaw). Too early to be able to judge much else e.g. build quality.
Ideal for my father in law. Easy to use as he has Alzheimer’s, so bladed shaving is no longer viable.
Also bought for my disabled son to use. Great and easy to use.
Got this for my hubby and he is really pleased with how close it shaves, the battery life, it’s comfortable to hold and easy to clean.
Was worth the price.
All in all a good buy.
Battery life good but hard to clean heads as you have to open and take each one out and theyhave sharp edges.
Really nice shaver, best close shave I have had for years. Really good price aswell.
This razor is easy to hold gives a good clean shave . No stubble left after like some other razors . Connects to a usb plug .
Ok but not as good as wet shave. But is convenient.
Very good cut. Initially found it a bit rough and leaving my skin dry and thin. However, have persevered a couple of times and know all find. Much quicker than my previous 200 razor. Very happy.
easy to hold, reasonable results but does not shave too close, but is fine for every day use.
battery life is very good
can recommend at this price
This is a good value shaver replacing a similar style Phillips shaver. Battery life is excellent, one of the best I’ve had. you can probably do about 8-10 shaves on one charge. Although I do feel it takes some repeated effort to shave everything (my former Phillips one seemed a little better at shaving everything off first time).
Charges up quickly and charge last a while easy to clean and a good but at the price
Quite hard to clean not comfortable to hold but comparing to others good value.
It’s a nice razor but would have liked a closer shave
In invited to review too short a time after purchase in my mind. But it is quite reasonably priced. Does the job for myself who has an average beard growth.
A few years ago I switched from a rotary shaver to a foil shaver, mainly because it gave a closer shave. Recently, a small hole appeared in the foil, which I’m sure other foil users will know results in bloody patches on the chin. I was going to replace the foil but found that I had to buy the whole head, which was only a few pounds cheaper than replacing the shaver. Having previously been a rotary shaver user and never having experienced cuts from them, I decided it was time to change back.
Looking at the options the Remington struck me as being the best value for a rotary shaver. I mean is a 200 shaver really worth the extra (law of diminishing returns I guess)? Anyway the shaver arrived the day after I ordered it and having not shaved for a couple of days I used it immediately. The instructions do state that you should charge fully before use, however I found that it was already fully charged.
The shaver comes with a small brush and a bag. There’s this stubble attachment that doesn’t actually interest me much, this thing about macho stubble is … well let’s just say it doesn’t appeal to me. I would like to have seen a cover for the shaver heads since I expect some detritus to come out into the bag.
So I used it straight away out of the box, and was pleasantly surprised. The shave was closer than I remembered from my last rotary shaver, and a lot quicker than I’d been experiencing with the foil shaver. I do mean a lot quicker. I tend to shave every other day now (no longer visiting customers etc.), and with the Remington I’m done in about a minute, whereas the old foil shaver would take about 5 minutes. I will say though, that my skin does feel more sore with this shaver than with the foil, so I do find a dose of after shave has now become necessary rather than cosmetic. I’d say the discomfort is closer to like using a wet razor (which I’d been doing before buying this item).
Speaking of which, I note that this shaver is wet or dry, and can be used with shaving gel or foam. I’m not sure I want to do that since I can imagine that cleaning it afterwards would be a bit of a bind. All that gooey stuff with shaved hair bits stuck in it … well I think I’ll stick with a dry shave. My understanding is that the slight soreness after shaving is reduced by using it wet, but …
Battery life – well I’ve had this shaver for over two weeks, shaving every other day, and it’s still showing 3 bars (goes down to 1 bar meaning it’s time to recharge or risk it stopping mid shave). My old foil shaver (sounds like brown) would need recharging after 2 shaves, 3 if I was lucky. So from that point of view I’m ecstatic about this Remington shaver. Of course I can’t say how long the battery will last over the long term, but so far I’m impressed.
So, that’s first impressions, and having not yet even recharged the shaver once I can’t make any comments regarding longevity. However based on my experience so far I’m very happy with it.
Update: Now over 2 months since I bought this razor, and I’ve recharged it once so far (soon as it hit one bar). It’s now showing two bars so I expect I’ll need to recharge again sometime in the near future. Happy with that though.
I’ve come to the conclusion that the speed advantage over the old foil razor is due to the jawline shaving. Because of the moving heads, I’m no longer having to go over the contours of my chin over and over to catch all the growth.
A small irritation is that for some reason the shaver seems to pull a little when I’m shaving the ‘moustache’ area, i.e. over the upper lip. I’m guessing it’s because the blades aren’t spinning as fast (being battery powered) as they did on the old mains razors I used to use. I have found that this ‘pull’ is reduced by shaving laterally rather than simply against the direction of the hairs, and the resulting shave is still good.
So, several weeks later and no reason to change my five star rating. Very pleased I bought this one.
My R6150’s batteries finally died after many years of use. Looking on the Remington site, the R6150 wasn’t there and there didn’t seem to be a new model.
However, Amozon had this model R6000 rotary head shaver which seemed to be what I wanted, so I bought one to try.
Having used it for a few weeks, it works pretty much like the old shaver. The head is slightly different in that the blades flex to follow the face contours. The head also moves a little bit (not as much as the R6150) and this seems to work better. Battery life is good with a full charge lasting me about 12 days. The USB charge option is handy because I don’t always have access to a shaver point and USB sockets are almost ubiquitous. However, the charge lead is custom rather than using a standard USB charge lead.
The shaver is lighter, and the trimmer is longer than the R6150 which I find to be better.
There are some questions about getting spare blades/heads. The shaver didn’t come with any information about spares and the Remington site has nothing either (at time of writing). However, the heads from my old R1650 fit the R6000 and work (although they don’t flex like the R6000). I did find a website that suggested SPR-PR13 as the part number for replacement heads but I haven’t tried them.
Lose a star for the customised USB lead and lack of spare parts information.
