Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersRoughly about the same size as a credit card and about a thick is a pen. Worked straight out of the box with my Windows PC and Android phone without any formatting required. Also is supplied with a USB to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-C cable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great compact size

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought a 1tb crucial x8 a few months back which has faster crystal disk mark speeds. When it comes to real world usage, the samsung T7 sheild portable destroys the Crucial in consistent write speeds. You can save money with the Crucial or go with the Samsung which has a much better performance. The crucial 1tb x8 drops speed to HDD levels after 5-6 gb of copying.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI’m a video editor by trade so I rely on my drives, I have 4 of the T7’s and (touch wood) they’ve been amazing. I usually edit straight off the drive and they’re fast enough to keep up with me, which is impressive seeing as I’m often editing 4K video clips at about 4 or 5GB in size each. They’re absolutely tiny so don’t take up much desk space. A friend of mine does data recovery for a living and says Samsung are the brand he sees the least (ie they fail less than other brands). Great drives and worth the money – picked mine up in a Black Friday offer so keep an eye on deals. Pick up a case if you plan on leaving the house with them, the size means they’re not exactly rugged.

The Samsung Portable SSD T7 (MU-PC1T0T/WW) is hands down the best hard drive I have ever had the pleasure of using.

First and foremost, the speed of this SSD is mind-blowing. With read speeds of up to 1050 MB/s and write speeds of up to 1000 MB/s, it delivers lightning-fast data transfers and significantly reduces waiting time. It has revolutionized the way I work with large files and has made data backup a breeze.

The compact and sleek design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also incredibly portable. It fits comfortably in my pocket, making it the ideal companion for on-the-go professionals and creative individuals.

The build quality is exceptional, as expected from Samsung. It feels solid and durable, giving me confidence in its reliability for long-term use.

Compatibility with USB 3.2 Gen.2 ensures versatility and fast connections with various devices. Whether I’m working on my laptop, transferring files to my desktop, or even using it with my gaming console, the Samsung T7 performs flawlessly.

In summary, the Samsung Portable SSD T7 is a game-changer in the world of storage solutions. It’s the epitome of speed, portability, and reliability, making it an absolute must-have for anyone in need of high-performance storage. Without a doubt, a well-deserved 5-star rating for this exceptional hard drive!

Very small and portable, plenty of storage, and my machine can read and write to it very rapidly with no frustrating delays. I can watch video files straight from this hard drive without any lagging. Exactly what I wanted. I might buy two.

I needed a high capacity external hard drive that was small enough to transport and light weight too.

This was a perfect choice and hasn’t let me down.

Read and Write speeds are fast. The item is small and lightweight which is great for travelling with if you need to backup large files out and about.

    I would recommend this product.

Bought a PC with a rather small 180gb SSD in it. Bought this to actually install games, and they are all running like a charm. Comes with a USB-A to USB-C adapter so no worries there, installed GTA V on it straight out the box and couldn’t be happier.

    Great product!!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI love this thing, tiny, lovely looking ( I have the red one and yes I know looks don’t matter with this type of product but it just looks great!). Normally I have an NVME drive in a separate USB 3 or TB enclosure and run it through TB as I have a Macstudio, but I also have Windows laptops that don’t have superspeed connections that I use the drives with so I thought this time I would give one of these a go. I also bought the little groovy case for protection. It’s still super small (did I mention that?) so not much more to it than one of the USBC NVME enclosures, feels a little sturdier and I get decent speeds. I know that the price of storage has fallen but as of this review on 14th Sept it’s 65.99 for the 1 TB, that’s madness compared to where we have been before and actually not that far removed from the price of making one yourself. Ok, so the downside compared to making one yourself is it seems to be so well made you can’t swap it out for another drive yourself. There may be a way but it doesn’t seem obvious to me, but that is the only downside. I imagine that’s for protection because it feels sturdy as heck, and literally fits in the palm of my hand. The question is if I had the same need would I buy one again or do as I usually do and put one together myself? Well unless you have TB speeds or 3.2×2 where you would feel the benefit from making a faster drive this would do you more than fine. It reached the advertised speeds, is super sturdy, super small, lovely looking and tactile with a marginal price difference between it and making one yourself with the same speed. So, unless you need to swap out the disks then go for it, If you do then think for a minute and decide if the many plus points outweigh the need. I have no regrets about buying this but then it is for a particular use case.

I used this to breath life into an older iMac. I installed the Mac OS on this drive, and it’s transformed the Mac from an almost unusable machine to something that is a pleasure to use.

The fact that it came with both USB-A and USB-C was superb too.

I was trying to decide which portable SSD to buy for my MacBook M1, and like I usually do I research things until I’m blue in the face. This is an amazing bit of kit, transfer speeds are very fast. I film a lot of 4k video and shoot 60mp raw files, so fast transfer speeds and reliability are my top criteria, and I wasn’t disappointed. Also liked the rubber casing, which is an added bonus for the extra bit of protection. Highly recommended and wouldn’t hesitate to buy again. Infact I’ll be ordering another for a back up. 10/10 Samsung.

Great little external drive, I wanted some more storage for a Mac mini and this is compact, nicely made and really quite quick. I had speed issues using and older drive caddy with a sata ssd in it and swapping to this elimated all those problems

Great speed, works with other C type cables if you are me and forget where you placed the original ones (make sure it’s at least one of the thicker kind of cables) and the original cables do have ridiculous transfer speed. It does get a bit warm when I send 50GB at once and it handles it very steadily and fast, so hey, it is a mini portable device, not a space rocket :)) Highly recommended!

I needed a decent hard drive to store my music catalogue for DJ-ing. This offering from Samsung looked to be my best option. It’s a nice compact size, has a rubberised outer & hopefully will be durable & reliable. Only time will tell but so far, I’m impressed. Its also a high speed drive, so transferring files is pretty quick.

I decided to recover some much needed space on my computer which meant transferring 260gb+ of photos, videos, music and random other files back into my daughter possession.

Her birthday was approaching, when I saw this on Amazon, and the price at the time was excellent.

This drive gets five stars all day long from me.

File transfer speed is rapid, item is very much pocket size and all in a really quite attractive anodized aluminium outer shell. It comes complete with C type to C type data cable, and I was more than happy to give it as a present.

And more to the point will be more than happy to buy again.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI purchased a T7 to go alongside my T5, but doubled my storage and went with the 1tb version. USB 3.2 so rapid speeds on file transfer which was necessary for me. Rather than buying the T7 that has the silicone shield case (cost a fortune) I instead bought a silicone sleeve on eBay for a few quid. Now I have a nice, more protected product to take on the go with me. Excellent item.

I liked the fact that it has additional security with the fingerprint reader/scanner. I feel my files are safer compared to my previous HDD. Oh..and it’s quite fast too. I wish it has an inbuilt keyring holder like the SanDisk Extreme does. However this is now my favourite external solid state drive. Delivery came on time too

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI already owned 1 of these, and it’s time to get a second. I literally just plug n play them into a spare USB slot, and keep them in there. They show up as a removable drive, but keep their letter, so I use them in cahoots with OBS to record my live stream in both 1440p and 4K.
Depending on my mood, I either upload the video file in 1, directly to the usual social places, or edit it, and upload that – the point being these drives are yet to let me down at all, and together with OBS, have yet to skip a beat (my settings are 16-24mbps on 1440, and 32-40mbps on 4K – both 60fps). Literally not 1 dropped frame in many hundreds of hours of content.
I can highly recommend them for anyone else too lazy to open up their computer case, and upgrade their internal drives (that’s my excuse anyway, due to all the rigmarole that it entails, with reformatting and reinstalling stuff..)
What’s also great, I can use one of these to very quickly transfer large video files to take on visits and showcase my work, and again, I use 2 of these, together with 1 older model, side by side, to give 3 high speed drives on the end of USB cables.
It obviously goes without saying to ensure your computer’s USB connectors are up to date and not ancient, or these things will not work very well, like with anything.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe first thing I noticed was how well made this is. I am not sure whether the casing is a hard synthetic or an anodized alloy: either way it is solid and has a good weight to it.
I easily installed the software for password and 256 bit encryption.
I formatted for NTFS, as I am using as an external backup for a Win11 PC.
Write speed is a solid 500MBs for large files and about half that for small files. Not bad for encrypted files.
The drive got warm but not enough to cause any kind of concern.
Nice drive at a reasonable cost, as I only need a 1TB drive.

Small, light and durable. Uses USB-C, comes with both types of USB cable. It came already formatted for exFAT which allows individual files over 4GB, but I formatted it again anyway. Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersAdvice to new users, don’t bother with setup software on the drive – this is formatted and ready to go for Mac and Android (presume it is fine for Windows too). The trick to get it available on your Android phone – plug the SSD in to your phone then restart the phone – the SSD drive will then show up as available in your phone. For Mac it is just plug and play (an iMac with Monterey OS) – the drive shows up as soon as you plug it in, and you can transfer files immediately. Very neat, light, fast, but feels rugged. Excellent piece of kit!

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersAfter changing my desktop PC hard-drive to an SSD recently the difference is massive in terms of speed. So, I decided to buy a portable one to use for my backup solution and the difference is massive! My old 1Tb WD portable hard-drive is a good solution but can take 12+ hours to complete a backup. This does the job in less than 1 hour! Really simple to use and also check that it’s not fake via the Samsung magician software etc.
I’ve now decided to buy a 2nd one so I can use them in an alternative way for back-ups then I never have a solution that could let me down badly. Definitely recommend this – plus the seller was excellent with it sent out v quick via Prime and well packaged too. It does mean if you’re not in the postie can just pop it through the letterbox without casing any damage either.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersHopefully this review will help other with performance issues running VMs.

I have a 2017 iMac with a 1TB Fusion Drive and 16GB of RAM. Originally I used VMware to run Windows and started having performance issues (with Windows) around 2019. As part of a company change we moved to Parallels in 2021, however I continued to experiance slow Windows performance. The main issue I was experiencing was constant 100% Disk in Task Manager.

I Googled everything, tried numerous configuration ‘tweaks’ suggested by others all to no avail. Even Parallels have a knowledge base article tackling this but nothing they suggested worked.

By contrast, my MacBook Air run Windows beautifully with just 8GB RAM. The fact that it has an SSD drive has long had me thinking that the problem with my iMac could be the Fusion Drive, but interestingly little or no info can be found to confirm this and my ‘Mac’ runs fine, it’s only Windows I have issues with.

I eventually gave up and purchased a Samsung T7 500GB drive just to test my theory. Needless to say it has completely resolved my issue. Having migrated both Windows 10 & 11 VMs to the drive, both are now running about as fast as I could possibly want. I use a USB-C connection and read/write speeds are brilliant! Neat little thing as well. Let’s hope it has longevity

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersLet’s start with the negatives. It only goes up to 2TB and the price per TB is higher than other drives.
Having got that out of the way, my god it’s fast. Fast and stays fast. I had 5TB Segate USB 3 drive which I bought because it was quicker than my last solid state hard drive which lasted all of 38 seconds when connected to Mac Studio when it fried. Although the Segate was reliable the time it took for searches became a joke, as well as the time it took to save large files. Whereas the Mac would save at a blink of an eye, the Segate would generate the busy bar or pizza wheel. But this SAMSUNG T7 is as fast as the Mac solid state drive. There is absolutely no loss of speed. It sleeps instantly when task is finished at starts within a mili second. When I need more storage I will certainly buy another one.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThis 2TB external hard drive is small and compact, making it a great option for those who need a lot of storage but don’t have much space.

The read and write performance is impressive, with average speeds of 869 MB/s for writes and 881.40 MB/s for reads when connected via USB-C.

These speeds are much faster than my previous external hard drive, which uses older 2.5 hard disk technology. While I haven’t checked the exact speeds, I’m happy as long as the drive is able to quickly transfer my backup files from my MacBook and has enough space for them.

I bought this SSD to improve the usability of my Photos Library on my MacBook M1, and it works well with Apple M1 and M2 products. While it’s too early to tell how reliable the drive will be, I’m confident in its quality since it’s a Samsung product.

Samsung drive has won numerious yearly awards for performance, price and size.

One potential downside is that the drive doesn’t come with any protective cover or case, so you might want to consider buying a travel case if you plan to take it on the go.

Additionally, the software that Samsung provides with the drive isn’t very useful and isn’t supported on Macs, although it does work well on Windows.

Overall, this is a great external hard drive and I believe it’s worth the price I paid (just over 142 on Amazon during a promotion).

Fast Little Drive! 2TB Amazing Read, Write Speeds

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersSmall and compact. Looks nice in blue and the price paid good for a branded 500 GB SSD. Transfer speeds seem brilliant in comparison to my last external hard drive which is old technology 2.5 hard disk, however, I have not looked at the exact speeds as it really does not matter that much to me. What’s important to me is that is really quick to transfer back up files from my MacBook and that it has the space i need to do so. One star off for the pretty useless software that Samsung provide to use with this as its really pointless and that it does not come with any form of protective cover/case. For the price it should in my opinion, however, I am still pleased and purchased a protective case separately from Amazon.
