If your looking at this your most likely to be like me and want the best of everything to make gaming even better.
I have the elite 1 and 2 and and the things I like more with the scuff are the triggers feel great and the option to quickly map buttons to the back paddles . It’s a lot of money to spend I’d probably stick with the elite 2 as it’s a little cheape
SCUF Instinct Pro is the latest offering for Xbox users in the field of controllers. Let’s face it, the price is high, higher than the Elite Series 2.
The latest model is the first approach of the legendary manufacturer to the keypad dedicated to the Xbox Series X|S.
Is it enough to call it the best controller for Microsoft consoles?
The controller is very similar to the basic one and thus it is well made, and the configurator on the pre-order page allows you to slightly modify the appearance.
My copy has a non-standard front panel (Galaxy), it connects to the rest magnetically, so it can be easily replaced with another one. Goes well with the orange buttons.
This is where SCUF leads the way, the controller can be customized to suit your requirements in terms of presence. Analog sticks are one of the novelties, similar ones are available for the Elite Series 2.
Instinct Pro is heavier than standard, but I have no problems with it. I don’t mind it and the extra weight equates to better performance. It can be lowered by removing the vibrations, but I have them in my copy.
Another difference is the A, B, X, Y buttons, they have a lower pitch and therefore work well when you need to press the same button faster. I got used to it quickly, but others may need more time.
I used Instinct Pro only when playing on Xbox Series S, and later X, when I decided to buy a more powerful console model.
The controller worked great when I played Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 (Countdown mode). Additional buttons helped me during battles with hunters, and these are the strongest opponents in this production.
Forza Horizon 5 was next on the grid, the manipulator worked great, especially strong vibrations.
The layout of the buttons is the same, so you can quickly start playing your favorite titles. The paddles are intuitive and help the player a lot depending on the genre of the game. They look different compared to the Elite Series 2. The green manipulator has the paddles close together, and those in the Instinct Pro are placed at different angles.
In The Division 2, I use all the paddles, have skills on/off, weapon reload, and use armor. In racing, two are enough to shift gears if I want to use a manual gearbox.
The mechanism for changing the stroke of the triggers has changed, now they behave the same as a mouse click when activated. I prefer the mechanism from Presitge or Elite Series 2, because in the new controller it performs poorly, weapons start firing in bursts, and they shouldn’t.
It can be slightly modified before the game, but it comes down to changing the type of analog sticks. Just remove the front panel, pull out the default ones and change to others that are included in the set.
There was room for the mute button, but it works only with wired headsets. When it comes to them, you can connect any of the compatible ones, because there are both sockets to be used.
DuraCell batteries are included for up to 30 hours of gaming. You can also use Play&Charge sets, then the working time is the same or sometimes longer.
The Instinct Pro can be charged wirelessly (to some extent). If the charger uses its own battery caps, it can be difficult because SCUF has used different ones.
I love this controller.
Mainly use it for playing COD and the mouse click trigger buttons are superb.
Controller is extremely comfortable to use and grippy because of the grip around the handles.
It has programmable profiles so you can switch between different games if needed. Pretty easy to program.
Looks beautiful and feels premium. 10/10 from me so far after a months use.
Absolutely cracked controller. Me and my buddies love this make and model. Catch us slide cancelling round prison on warzone challing corners and popping UAV’s, loady push, uav PUSH IVE GOT HIM ONE SHOT
I have been using official xbox controllers for a while now, so this looked like a great upgrade to them. Wow, this certainly is a bit more fancier.
The price may be eye watering, but if you look past that the controller is gorgeous.
As a big gamer, I use a controller 2nd behind the keyboard and mouse, so it’ll be held a lot. It’s VERY comfortable in the hand, great weight and it just feels so nice to use.
I will be putting my other controllers on my display shelf now and will be using this going forwards.
Love it.
All the main electronic components (the joysticks, the buttons, triggers) are essentially identical to that of an Orginal Xbox Series X controller however SCUF adds some great to have features. The normal Xbox controller is already so I’ll just talk about the additions that SCUF has:
LOOKS and REMOVEABLE Backplate
This controller looks absolutely stunning, the matte finish on the grey plastic with orange highlights looks amazing in person. The front plate is only magnetically attached and comes off really easy. Customisable ones can be purchased from their site, just a great add on to have.
PADDLES at the back
I was sceptical of 4 paddles at the back, especially with reachability. But once I tried it, it has forever changed how I game. They sit naturally where your middle finger rests and after some practice become second nature to press. They can be paired to any button on the controller and its got a built in memory for 3 presets which helps swap between games
ADJUSTABLE TRIGGERS
I do not understand the point of this feature. There’s a switch behind each trigger that converts them to tactile buttons but the buttons’ press is too shallow to give any meaningful feedback. I couldn’t find any use for it in any of the games I play
GRIPS at the back
IMO this is the controller’s best feature. The rubber grips at the back add a great texture and feel to the controller and absolutely contribute to the controller feeling ultra premium. A normal Xbox controller feels cheap after getting used to this.
Speaking of ultra-premium, the price tag of over 200 simply cannot be ignored. On top of that, it is a shame that SCUF only offers a 6-month warranty whereas the original Xbox controller comes with 2 years. That being said, this controller is one of a kind and SCUF have every right to charge the price they are for it, it is well built, very well built and premium, it doesn’t pretend to be anything less.
Hope you found my review helpful.
My Husband realy likes this controler he uses it with his PC .He said it’s sturdy and good quality . The extra thumbsticks are a huge plus because he usually has to buy them separately . Great for the price and fast delivery.
