Use it for storing audiobooks and movies hope it will not fill up too fast just transferred 3 full 16gb usb to it.

The transfer is slow though. So while doing it you can probably watch an episode of a series or something while it does its thing.

Prompt delivery. Appears to be a SSD storage device as no audible moving hard disk noise – or is extremely quiet unlike an older competitor 1TB external disk. Bought as part of daughter’s Christmas present to back up her gaming PC and a laptop so daughter very happy.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI got this storage for my PS5 and its really good. It transfers 90GB from my PS5 to this storage, and it took between 8 to 10 minutes. It’s fast, and it does what it says on the instructions.

Easy to install – I am very pleased with my purchase, it was good value for money. Provides plenty of storage to back up even though it’s small – so good as portable too. I am not very good with technical items but this was easy for me to use. It exceeded my expectations and I would recommend.

My last one was past its sell by date, this one fits the bill. It is 2GB (twice the old one) portable light in weight and fits with my new USB lead. I use it to store my backups of useful items that I might need to get at easily. Very pleased with the Tech support that comes with it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSo easy, plugged into power, plugged into ish 3.2 and instantly had almost 12tb of space.

A roomy vault to handle anything.

The usb b and c ports in the front are brilliant for charging and provide extra ports so you don’t lose any when plugging it into your pc.

It isn’t small, as wide as my tower but it sits on top of said tower and I have a stand for my headset atop that.

All in all, very happy with this Seagate drive.

    Used with Windows 11 pro.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAfter purchasing a cheap external drive and finding out it didn’t even work (Chinese knock off) from amazon might I add!! Never before has the adage ” Too good to be true” been highlighted at the cost to my pocket.
So I stumped up with a much more considerable amount to purchase this External drive and it does what it should. It hasn’t let me down and is easy to use. Would recommend

No issues at all, it’s a little bulky but to be expected with the size of capacity. I run all my games through it and have 0 problems. Overall good product but I think it could be abit cheaper.

Simple to create luks encrypted backup partition for linux (Fedora). Backup speed over usb3 seems as good as I’d expect for an mechanical hdd. Solid unit with good no slip feet, ideal for desktop which is my use case, but too bulky and heavy to carry around regularly in a laptop bag.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFor 8TB and a price of 110 with a rebate, I can’t complain! It does come with sub par usb-A to mini HDD cable, so be aware of that if your computer is USB-C only. Needs power input but that is expected for this type of device. Had another disc from the same brand that lasted more than a decade so expectations on reliability are high for this one. We will see!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersDelivered ahead a schedule and working very well. Actually a bit quicker than l was expecting. Although it is easy to pick up and move around, on the desk, l would not describe it as portable. It is quite bulky and not the sort of thing you would throw in your rucksack for a day trip, it does require a power supply. I’m sure Tech support is excellent but because l haven’t had to use it l can’t give it a rating. Currently running on a MacBook Pro 2022. Hope this is useful…..

These are really good back-up drives – good capacity and reasonably quick data transfer at a good price – never had a reliability issue with them yet (hope I am not tempting fate….)

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery good and reliable. However when I turn off my PC, the usb external drive is still spinning… Forever. How to stop without unplugging? I need a remote setup.

I bought this as I was fed up with lousy backup options, tried another make – got one DOA.

The software seems open but is designed for this brand – download in advance see if it works for you BEFORE buying the drive.

My computer has a 500GB drive so I went for the 6TB as a decent ratio – so far fine.

Basically – USB plugged into a USB hub, Power adapter into UPS – runs fine.

Nice thing it goes into standby when the computer does.

Not a lot else to say other than the brand is one of the oldest and most reliable.

Great storage, have used this as a back-up for large storage files for quite some time and find it great with plenty storage space still to spare.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI wanted a large external drive to save backup of thousands of photos and documents – this drive ‘s/Tb was very good value. It also had to be reliable and the reviews I read suggested it was and so far my experience is good. It freed up a lot of cloud storage so over the next 12 months it will pay for itself. No problems using it with Mac. Seems as robust as other external drives I have. As it’s for backup I won’t be taking it around with me so it doesn’t matter that it’s not the smallest physical size available. Does exactly what I need it to.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe device is very uncomplicated – a no frills little black box. I simply re-formatted it on a PC when it arrived and it became a very good-value back-up device that I used when re-building a NAS drive.
Read and write times easily matched (or probably surpassed) what I was moving on or off it via a network. I had it connected via USB3. The whole process was very simple and this device toiled away flawlessly.

It arrived with some sort of software on it, but I didn’t even look at that and wiped it during the re-formatting.
The next NAS I have to re-build, I will definitely be using this device again. Thanks Seagate for producing a simple, straightforward, reliable and trustworthy product.

Bought one of these as storage to my Nvidia streaming device. Works perfectly, so I bought another to act as a backup to all my movies’/TV shows. Good transfer speeds and (so far) reliable. Recommended

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis 8 TB external hard drive is formatted to NTFS and ready to go straight out of the box. I got this because I wanted an alternative form of backup for my HP laptop rather than relying on windows One Drive. I created a system image backup file. I think this feature is from windows 7 this worked but I have not attempted a restore yet. I engaged File History also from Windows 7 but still available in windows 11 and it is working well. If it should fail within the first two years because its Segate you get attempted file recovery as part of the deal with this drive. The drive has no on/off switch, instead it relies on detecting power on the USB3 port which is incidentally its only interface. I found this a bit confusing as the disk is suuposed to power down once no power is detected at the USB3 interface. My drive powered down at computer shut down but immediately powered up again. Unknow to me at the time my lap top although off allows charging from its USB3 port the good news is you can turn this off from within the computer BIOS. All in all I am happy with my new external hard drive.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersI use the 14TB version of the Seagate One Touch Hub set up for continuous backup of my laptop (using the software “Toolkit” provided). It offers me a simple way to ensure I have my system covered, should the main drive on my laptop suddenly die or the system becomes corrupted. Personally I use this as part of a three part backup scheme, along with a NAS (off site) and another external hard drive. Can’t be too careful !
The size of this drive also means I can use it for storage of photos and video, along with a document repository for all my scanned personal documents. The One Touch Hub comes in a variety of drive sizes.
It is password protected (although you can set it to recognise the main laptop / PC / Mac you are using it with (connected to via the USB lead) so that you don’t have to enter the password every time you switch it on). Obviously if you disconnect the drive or use it with another laptop / PC / Mac it will need the user set password to operate it – so it’s secure, protecting your data if stolen.
I’ve only had the drive a few weeks so can’t comment on longevity and not had to contact Tech Support , so I can’t rate that either. However I have used Seagate drives in the past and found them to be ultra reliable.
In a nutshell, if you want an easy to use back up solution for your Windows or Mac computer this is well worth considering. Set up and leave and it does the rest.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our Users01.06.2022 initial review
well 1st “portability” as a question found on the review!! its hmmm, you must have a power supply ie its not powered via USB so its not a 100% portable “without”
you do get a host of adaptors within the package so where-ever you maybe you shouldn’t be stuck without the correct plug choice…
you also get the necessary USB cable to connect to your device, again its fool proof “hmm, lets not kid ourselves you’ll see some muppets complaining due to having the cable reverse & doesn’t fit correctly etc.. YES the USB cable only fits one way around, a lil message to the muppets out there”

storage volume, well its not a true 4TB as a small amount of space has been taken due to the running software etc.. to this day I’m surprised there’s not a small memory chip within the circuit board to store such data leaving the full volume to the user.

anyway, the device.. its very very quiet when running, you do get a single ‘white’ LED proving power-on status etc & some small 2pre-fitted rubber feet. again it seems this unit is designed to be stood on its side rather then flat on the larger surface etc “I’m not sure if this would effect its running “I’m not really going to want to find that out”

file transfer, well upto now.. drone images & 4k, 1080p video transfers pretty damned quickly so I cant really see why anyone would need to moan.. regarding using this as a gaming HD device.. honestly I’d compare specs to similar devices OR contacting the manufacturer for definitive information.. relying upon amazon questions/answers “your asking for trouble”

yes the HD does come nicely packaged with info within & yes it arrived a week early (delivered 2days)

as all my reviews I’ll update further after more use
