All round very good product however they should make it clear that you can only play ps4 games straight off the hard drive even if you have a ps5 version of a game on the hard drive there will need to be a copy in the internal storage

4.0 out of 5 stars Things they should make clea

Quick delivery and really easy set up – just plug and play. Easy to operate once connected to the Xbox. Made gaming a better experience for an impatient 15 year old.

Struggled at first to set up on PS5 as it kept saying it wasn’t compatible but you need to go into settings>storage>usb storage. You need to format the USB storage then it will work

I bought this for my PS5 and it is well worth the money. Games transfer over with no issues, haven’t had any problems so far. With other hard drives on the market this size being well over 100 this is a perfect alternative

4TB hard drive is good value for money works perfectly its plug and play first time using it you got to plug it into the front of your Xbox series X to format it after formatting then you can use any of the USB A ports the one at the front or at the back of the console easy to use only takes about a minute to format the HDD

5.0 out of 5 stars 4TB Game Drive for Xbox

I cannot give a review for this item as yet as I am returning it for a replacement, drive arrived in a un padded envelope and posted through a letterbox three foot high onto a concrete tiled floor, I’m just not sure if the drive is damaged or will last, not prepaired to keep it, Amazon customer services have been very good and offered a quick replacement and free return delivery. I am not blaming the driver totally because the packaging could have had more protection, these drives are normally excellent last one lasted 6 years of daily pas4 then Ps5 use.

Been using this for a couple of months now on my raspberry pi based Plex server/NAS reformatted to ext4. Performs well enough and nice amount of storage for the price. Roughly 100 MB transfer speeds sending files to it over a wired network in this scenario. I can’t turn off or change the colours of RGB with my specific use case which is a minor niggle and that wouldn’t be a problem in a typical windows set up. Overall very good product.

Makes very noticele noises when being used.

The writes speeds of 240 MB/s to 250 MB/s (roughly) are very consistent without any drops during huge transfers.

Some hard drives tend to have fast write speeds and then drop to a crawl after a few minutes but this device does not.

    2 Month Usesage Update:
I have used as a 24/7 torrent download the part of a month (February 6th to March) and a then a few hours a day till this update (March 28th).

I have since noticed when using this to watch 4K HDR content on a PC there were a problems when it was freeze and crash the UI on windows. These would occur when running a movie from the HDD and scrubbing through quickly from scene to scene.

This would happen every 20-30 minutes or so which is annoying forcing me to unplug the divide from the USB port to fix.

Although it is meant to be a “gaming/storage” hub my guess is that my usecase of heavy 24/7 downloading affected it.

Something to consider if your a heavy torrent downloader and wish to use this as a media storage.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Usersbrought this specifically for the xbox and now on PC it works well still, note that if you do that same move you need to format the hard drive to get it to show and be able to work with the computer, however it will work if you go straight onto the computer.

whilst the speeds aren’t exactly nvme speeds but then you get 4tb for a much lower price and personally this is my second hard drive now as I like the option for space. The drive has worked since day one and hasn’t crashed at all and none of the files have been corrupted since ownership. the storage is really good too, 4tb is a massive amount for games and other files plus having 2 bumping up to 8tb really there isn’t much you can’t download.

The connection is usb is 3.2 for the better transfer speeds, again whilst you aren’t getting the speeds of the nvme drives it is still really good transfer speeds.

overall a great purchase the compact size does allow for easy portability if you need too, and the light green bar does give a little nice flair to the drive. The drive also comes with a 1 year backup warranty if anything is lost which is a nice additional touch to purchasing this the drives have not missed a beat and thoroughly happy with my purchases.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThought having the xbox series X with 1TB would be enough storage for me tbh as most the time when I’m finished with games I delete them to add more in the future but then buying the new call of duty games etc take some much storage up so needed more storage and would of liked the cartridge one like the old playstation one’s but they’re over priced as cost more with less storage then the seagate hard drives so got it for a Christmas present and surprised how small and compact it is,the USB cable isn’t very long tbh but use it from the port on the front of the console and tucked away up the side

Like the green light and so easy to set up and use and always transferring from main storage to hard drive,I’ve heard that you need to keep series s/x games on console to play but shouldn’t be a problem as its easy enough to transfer back and forth

I originally bought a 1TB SSD for my PS4 collection on my PS5, but it would always reboot with an error and my game would crash when waking the console up from rest mode! This drive, even though it’s an older technology, works perfectly and I got the 2TB version, so more space and less money!

Product works perfectly and has a neat Logo to match the PS5. I Already had one and had to get another as my old one is full. Turns out you can only use one at a time which is very annoying. The PS5 Nearly formatted my old drive with all my games on it. I’ve noticed after swapping them around the content menu is also updating showing games I haven’t played in ages. Not sure what to think here as there are 2 USB ports on the PS5 why you can’t use both at the same time is just silly.

I bought this to hold a large collection of media, and whilst it cannot boast the speeds of SSD or NVMe, what it does have is capacity…. a lot of it!

There is plenty of competition for gaming products and storage is no different. Usually a ‘gaming’ storage product would try to differentiate itself by having faster read/write speeds, but Seagate have marketed this product firmly in the large capacity category.

The drive itself is not too big, and comes with customisable LED light effects that can sync with Razor gaming equipment, but they don’t really add anything for me. The performance is reasonable for a spinning disc, with retrieval of documents, video and photos at an acceptable level.

Seagate are known for making good hard drives, so I expect this will last a while, but they also have a data recovery service, allowing you a single lab based attempt to recover your data in the event of a failure. This is a nice touch, but in practice, an online backup service is probably still required for most people.

There are more secure ways to store data locally, but for the price, this drive represents good value for money and is certainly doing a good job for me so far.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersAll you have to do is plug it in and format it, which for some reason is either games OR media. You can then set it up to automatically receive everything downloaded or solely backwards compatible games direct to this drive. Any BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE Xbox, Xbox 360 or Xbox One games ARE PLAYABLE direct from this drive. All Series S or X only content needs to be transferred to the console itself. It’s also whisper quiet (it’s brand new so why wouldn’t it be?) and lightning quick. For example; if you were to download and remove Series S/X games each time you used up or gained hard drive space on the console itself it could take hours each time. Download once, then copy or move games back and forth from this device in minutes thanks to the supplied 1Gbps capable cable.
The LEDs can be changed (of a fashion). To do this you need a PC and Seagate Toolkit software. You’ll probably also need them to install any firmware updates. From there you can alter the brightness of the green or turn it off. Users CANNOT alter the colour. You can also turn off the status LED. However, for some bizarre reason the green LEDs don’t switch off when the console is shutdown using a controller or media remote (02/01/24 – They do go out after about 5mins after the console shutdown), but they do go out when you shutdown via the main on/off switch or from within the Power Options whilst in Settings.
In conclusion: It’s excellent, provided you take advantage of its uses and understand its limitations. It could even become perfect if any forthcoming update solves the aforementioned power/LED conundrum (02/01/24 – appears to be unnecessary). Add SSD into the mix and it may well be unsurmountable. Do your console a favour and buy it.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersBought this to add storage to my PS5.

It is very easy to install just plug and play. Once attached to the PS you have to format it sop it is able to work, but this a very easy task since the the PlayStation will inform you and you have to just accept.

You cannot play PS5 games directly from it, so if this is used to store such games, you have to transfer it back to the PS5 to be able to play (which is very fast). For PS4 games, you can play the games directly from the Hard Drive

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersLadies, gentlemen, and everyone in between, buckle up for the epic tale of the Seagate Storage Expansion Card. This unassuming piece of tech turned my life into a digital rollercoaster of love, lust, and unemployment checks.

Let’s kick off this adventure with a date. Picture this: a cozy night in, dim lights, and me, attempting to impress my date with my gaming skills. Enter the Seagate Expansion Card, promising to take our gaming experience to new heights. Little did I know, my attempt at a smooth transition to the digital realm resulted in a glitch that left me pixelated in embarrassment. My date mistook my technological hiccup for a metaphor for our relationship—pixelated and glitchy.

Fast forward to a family gathering with the in-laws. Eager to showcase the wonders of my digital kingdom, I decided to plug in the Seagate Expansion Card to the Xbox. The card, however, had its own ideas. Mid-game, it decided to eject itself like a rebellious teenager leaving home, causing a family uproar that left my in-laws convinced I had unleashed a gaming demon upon their household.

Now, let’s dive into the workplace saga. In a misguided attempt to boost productivity, I brought the Seagate to the office, hoping to transform mundane spreadsheets into digital adventures. Little did I know, my boss mistook my gaming ambitions for corporate espionage. I got fired faster than a noob in a first-person shooter game.

Now, let’s address the one flaw in this digital drama: the card’s ejection tendency. During an important virtual meeting, the card decided to make a surprise exit, leaving my colleagues convinced I was attempting a dramatic exit from the company. If only I had known I’d be starring in a real-life soap opera instead.

But fear not, because amidst the chaos, the Seagate Expansion Card has transformed my life. The extra storage has made me a digital maestro, impressing women and attracting swimsuit models like a gamer Casanova. The allure of a man with ample storage space is apparently irresistible.

In conclusion, the Seagate Storage Expansion Card is not just a storage solution; it’s the unsung hero of my digital escapades. From date-night glitches to family fiascos and workplace wipeouts, this card has turned me into a pixelated legend. So, plug it in, level up, and let the laughter load!

I’m a big Call of duty gamer and if you are too you know the files are MASSIVE I ran out of space on my PS5 so fast I had to get myself an external storage
I couldn’t recommend this more you literally just plug it in and go it’s ready in seconds, I brought 4TB and have about 8 different games downloaded into it with still 3TB left! I’m left with so much storage space I no longer have to worry about downloading anything I’m extremely happy

I wasn’t sure if the drive was just for storage, but you can play your games direct from it!
I choose it as the main new game download storage, or you use to move games to it for storage to play when you get bored with your new games. It’s so easy! plus the cost compared to the dedicated 1 terabyte one I first bought for 230 on offer!
For me only one downside, Xbox360 compatible games seem to only won’t to be on an internal drive, but that might be just me! You might know better!
Anyway I would definitely buy another one, if this gets full in the future!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersJust bought it the other day. Downloaded a lot of games onto it. Seems to download games quite fast, and the loading times are pretty decent too. Quite a lot of money, but it does come with xbox gamepass ultimate for a month, so not complaining there. All around, just a pretty decent external hard drive for xbox. Would definitely recommend!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersPurchased when my GOW: Ragnarok fanboy-dom was at its peak. The design is “cool” and it lights up blue around the edges when your gaming. It isn’t pertinent to the quality of the device but as of writing, you can’t currently store PS5 games on the external hard drive and play them immediately.

You have to re-install the games from the external hard drive, back on to the PS5, which isn’t the end of the world, its just not very convenient. I haven’t done it in a while but on the main menu/homepage, press start button on selected title and select “copy” to send it to external storage device. Would recommend, paid around 90 I think.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI recently purchased the Seagate Game Drive for PS5, and I must say it has been a fantastic addition to my gaming setup. As an avid gamer, I often find myself running out of storage space on my console, and this external hard drive has provided the perfect solution.

One of the key features of the Seagate Game Drive is its compatibility with both PS4 and PS5 consoles. This means that I can use it to store and play all my PS4 games directly from the external hard drive, even when playing on my PS5. It’s a convenient and efficient way to manage my game library without the need for constant installations and downloads.

The setup process was a breeze, and I was up and running in no time. The drive is plug-and-play, and it seamlessly integrates with both PS4 and PS5 systems. I simply connected the Game Drive to my console via USB, and it was recognized instantly. The drive is officially licensed for PlayStation consoles, ensuring optimal performance and compatibility.

With 2TB of storage capacity, the Seagate Game Drive offers ample space for my gaming needs. I can store a massive collection of games, including both new releases and classics, without worrying about running out of space. It’s a relief to have all my games in one place, and I can easily access them whenever I want without the need to delete or reinstall them.

In terms of performance, the Seagate Game Drive delivers excellent speed and reliability. The USB 3.0 interface ensures fast data transfer, allowing me to quickly transfer games between consoles or load them directly from the external drive. I haven’t experienced any lag or performance issues while using the Game Drive, and it has seamlessly integrated with my gaming experience.

Another aspect that impressed me about the Seagate Game Drive is its sleek design. The black color and compact form factor make it a visually appealing addition to my gaming setup. The drive also features a small LED indicator that adds a touch of style. It’s definitely a step up from the standard external hard drives and adds a bit of character to my gaming station.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThe only gripe is there is no off button so it constantly spins even when the PC is off. Mine however is used heavily so therefore it is not a major flaw for me but it could be for someone else. The capacity is great and speeds are acceptable for a mechanical HDD as all i am using it for is games that i have installed that are not intensive in loading. I like the rgb lighting i keep it on orange as it just looks nice. I recommend if you have a large library like I have on steam. It does come with seagate tools so you can use it as a back up device but i feel it is wasted as you can install most of your games on it and do away with smaller drives in your system freeing up resources like power to relieve your power supply for example.
