Use in ps5 and games saved to it work perfectly
Nothing to dislike. Easy and gast to install. Solved my storage issues on my PS5.Good bit of kit.
I got this on amazon for 38.00 amazing discount an bargin couldn’t believe my good fortune when I checked my save for later basket list, 500gb extra is more then enough to add to my ps5 especially when budgeting.
Very good price, playing PS5 games from SSD no issues and transfers games very quick
Easy to install, needs a heatsink but great speed and can now add many more games to my ps5.
I’ve been using this in my PS5 for a little over a month now, and honestly I’m very pleased with it. For a while I had been considering getting a SSD for my PS5 but was unsure if I actually needed it. But having the extra storage really proved useful
The PS5 storage, as most people know, isn’t great. Before I got the SSD, I found myself having to delete games constantly to make way for new ones. With the new SSD, that problem is gone. I now have more games on my PS5 than ever before (around 25 games) and I still have room for more.
In terms of speed, I still feel the PS5’s own internal SSD is faster. I believe this is only due to the fact it has been made to work specifically with the PS5 system. That’s not to say that this SSD isn’t fast, it is. In fact it’s very close to a point where you won’t notice.
The biggest issue of course is the installation, but as long as follow the correct steps you should be fine and takes no longer than 5 minutes to install.
Overall, I’d highly recommend this. Especially if you like having or want to have lots of games installed that can be played with the high loading speeds. If you are new to PS5, I would recommend holding off for a few months just to see if the SSD is really necessary for you. You may find you don’t need the extra space.
It’s very fast. I moved all of my most played games to it including the PS4 ones. The loading up speeds are great especially for the PS4 ones. Fitting it was simple, just follow the video on Sony’s website.
Easy to install just remember the cover over the ps5 , Does not need anther heat sink etc as this is already on and you get fre stickers
Excellent ssd for ps5, fast read and write speed, easy installation, highly recommended, the star wars edition is a nice touch and a few stickers included in the box. Who doesn’t like a sticke
Looks great. Even if I’ll never see it again
Took 5 mins to instal
Easy to install took about 15 minutes my ps5 runs allot faster and no need uninstall games to install a new one
Bought to upgrade PS5 and wanted to use something I knew would work and be reliable.
Can’t get much better than this and at the price it was a no brainer.
Installation into the PS5 was done in minutes and when booting up the console it recognised it straight away and formatted it with ease.
Highly recommend it…..and it looks great as well (not that you can see it tucked away)
I had to fit this in a different slot because the heat sink interferes with sound card slot. My Corsair NVme was even worse but I have ordered from Amazon a lower profile heat sink that I hope will solve the problems. ASUS need to redesign their motherboards to allow more space to accommodate the heat sinks but that is little comfort to you if it won’t fit into your board so be aware. YouTube will show you how to remove the heat sink if you do have problems.
Purchased this to free up some of the poor amount of console storage. Slots in with ease and soon as you fire up the PS5 it asks if you wish to format it. 6530ish MB/s speeds when I first formatted. More than happy with that. Added bonus with The Mandalorian Beskar styling.
This product was purchased so that my husband could blah blah blah (I stopped listening) something about his Playstation 5 and games and saves. What he meant was that I could buy it and then install it for him. He couldn’t do it himself because he’s as light-handed as a sledgehammer. As a lady of a certain age the technofear looms large in my life, luckily this product was incredibly easy to install in the PS5 by following one of the numerous “how to” videos on t’interweb. It took five minutes and two of those were spent searching for a teeny screwdriver.
does what it says on the box really, I have my OS and music on this drive
Ideal storage for a PS5. Installation was easy. Just needed to format the SSD by following onscreen prompts once it was installed and the PS5 was powered up. At time of purchase price was reduced, so even better purchase. Would recommend for extended PS5 SSD storage.
Great product for a great price, brilliant quality just a shame it’s hidden away inside my ps5 and Who doesn’t like free stickers
Got this to expand the memory in my ps5, very easy to install following playstation video on you tube.
This at the time I am righting this jan 2023 is the fastest high rewrite cycles drive out there for home PC’S. It is beaten for outright top place for some speed test by Samsung 980 pro I believe, but this drive is as fast and faster on other tests. THE BIG DIFFERENCE , This drive can be rewritten to every day for five years to 70 percent rewrites of its size, and this is guaranteed. This will outlast al the other drives and is safer for data and long term use. It is really fast.
This listing fails to mention that Firecuda 530 is a desktop SSD and should never be used without a heatsink, also ensuring proper ventilation, which is clearly stated on the Seagate product page:
– Intended for desktop PCs.
– FireCuda 530 SSD’s heatsink is pre-installed and should not be removed as it can damage the SSD.
– With the heatsink, the product exceeds standard M.2 dimensions. Dimensions of the FireCuda 530 SSD are 80.15 mm (L) x 22.9 mm (W) x 18.25 mm (H).
– M.2 connectors H3.2 and above are recommended for an SSD with a heatsink.
– For optimal performance, provide sufficient airflow and cooling.
Blazing fast but also lava hot. For laptops — do not buy. For consoles and desktop PCs you probably can’t go any better.
It does what it says on the tin, I bought the star wars special edition one too (one for my PS5 and one for my PC.
I did the usual trawling of written and video reviews and came back with this choice. It is for a playstation 5 and was very easy to fir and set up. The figures were better than some others but for now a 1tb suits all needs and gives me more than i need for current and future game storage. So far so good and I’m thinking of buying another one for the grandsons digital ps5.
I used it on my ps5 and it’s being workin great. I took the 4tb one when it was on sale
Excellent internal SSD for PS5.
Was easy to install, following the video guide from Sony on YouTube.
Got a read speed of 6538 MB/s during formatting on the PS5. Worth noting, however, that PS5s have some caps on read and write speeds so in practice you’ll not get 6.5GB/s when copying data from the PS5 storage to the SSD; you’ll likely get around 1.4GB/s, but this is sufficiently fast from experience.
Additionally, the storage size of 1 TB is great. I currently have around 25 games across both the PS5 storage and the Firecuda with around 500Gb of remaining storage. Games load just as fast from the SSD and it doesn’t have any heating problems.
Altogether, it’s a great SSD which doesn’t overheat and offers additional storage for the PS5 that will be fine for most people.
Good fast SSD will eventually degrade because has a cache problem speeds will lower even my internal intergrated SSD is slowly degrading the loading graph has slightly slowed when accessing drive I wish bought my ps5 from Amazon with a extended garantee
Heatsinks on an SSD are largely pointless, the only tangible result is that it makes the SSD too big, and I couldn’t install it on the primary M.2 slot of my B550M Steel Legend mobo, so I had to use the second slot, which is PCIe G3, so I can’t get the advertised PCIe G4 speeds. But otherwise it’s good, and I got it real cheap (it was almost half the price), so it was worth it.
Purchased for a PS5.
Very very easy to install and be up and running, took just a few minutes.
Only thing I wish I had researched before is that putting this storage into a PS5 gives additional storage, it does not replace the original storage.
If I had realised it was addition and not replacing then I might have gone for the cheaper 1Tb version. As it is I now have nearly 2.8Tbloads of storage for future.
Very pleased with my purchase. Bought it on sale so definitely a bargain.
Not a techie, but found it very easy and straightforward to fit following the YouTube video.
Started up PS5 after installing and it immediately recognised it and asked me to format.
Very easy to change storage of games from console storage to the FireCuda 530 and moving existing games over was a simple task too.
Would highly recommend
After some confusion I find it necessary to confirm a few things.
1 This is a small HDD built with a heatsink in addition. But it’s one piece, not two, like I originally thought.
2 It fits in to the top of the PS5 under the cover.
3 You will need a screwdriver.
4 No need to remove the existing HDD in your PS5.
5 This is more of an Add-on. Not a replacement.
Hope this clears things up for New Buyers. I should also mention that so far there have been no issues since installing it.
The drive exceeded the advertised read/writes with 7391/6144 right out of the box.
Test System: X570/5900X/RTX 3090/64GB
The temp peaked to 55*C in the Crystal Disk bench. Office is fairly cool and the drive is idling at 38*C, but I figured this would be the case since it sits in the first M.2 slot on my X570 motherboard. Air needs to channel between the RAM and GPU to reach it, honestly – it’s a terrible placement for these Gen4 NVMe since they can generate so much heat. My second M.2 slot is covered by the GPU and I already have a slower NVMe in it for extra storage.
Only purchased since my previous NVMe, Aorus Gen4 (the all copper launch one), died due to overheating. That drive was idling at 55*C and those first gen Phison controllers haven’t earned a great reputation for reliability.
The biggest reason for buying this drive is the endurance rating for the drive and that it could possibly generate less heat since the memory is limited to 1,200 MTps vs. 1,600 MTps. Definitely on the pricier side of similar 1TB NVMe drives (980 Pro, KC3000, SN850, Rocket 4 Plus, and Platinum P41), but it’s also has the highest endurance rating out of all of them and free data recovery for 3-years.
Essentially bought at a slightly premium because Seagate is a well-known name, and to avoid messing around retrospectively installing heat spreaders or thermal paste (the heat sink is preinstalled on this, unlike the Sabrent). I’m slightly concerned that the heat sink seems to be a solid lump of metal rather than having any fins that would increase surface area (like the holes in the WD_BLACK, which doesn’t come in 4TB, or the fins on the Sabrent which replaces the SSD compartment lid); I’m sure it’ll be fine for distributing heat during bursty behaviour as a heat spreader, but I’m not so sure it’ll make the best of the fan in continuous operation. However, I’m no cooling engineer, so hopefully Seagate know what they’re doing. It seems to work, and installation was easy enough (once I’d correctly interpreted the Sony instructions on how to remove the cover). Reviews imply that PS5 SSDs work fine without a heatsink, they’ll just slow down (although I doubt it’s good for them to run hot), so fingers crossed.
Did a lot of research on which m.2 ssd to buy (WD Black/Samsung/Firecuda) benchmark testing, PS5 only videos, and installed this particular drive in my ps5 for faster game loads.. the ssd i bought was the firecuda 1Tb version with heatsink – very simple to install.
Turned off and unplugged ps5. slide the lid/casing off the bottom of the ps5. Unscrew the ssd casing. position the screw and washer they provide down 1 notch to the 80mm mark and gently inserted the drive, hearing the click as the ssd drive slots in.
Then proceeded to turn on the ps5, which prompted me to format the usb drive taking a few seconds to format and eventually giving a read speed of 6538.91MB/s as shown in the image – which is to be expected as i think ps5 bottlenecks this read speed around this value. Having a look at reviews of other ssd brands other customers have bought and reviewed.. they all seem to cap out at this 6500MB/s speed so i am very happy the SSD arrived on time (1 day delivery cos gamer), and is performing as expected.
Transferred Destiny 2 and Godfall ~103GB of data from the console storage to this m.2 SSD drive (go to an app, and press options -> move game data) – this took about 1 minute.. to transfer 100GB of data!! incredibly fast.
One thing i did not expect however was that my LAN cable was Disconnected during this data transfer – i did have to switch my ps5 off an on again as this seemed to bug out my lan connection entirely. So I deleted the current Wired Lan profile, restarted my PS5, and then set up my network connection again which fixed the issue – but this i suspect was possibly an intended software feature on Sony’s end. I would advise maybe disconnecting any LAN cables during data transfers to mitigate this
I didn’t test any Thermal production of the ssd drive however, as i didn’t have the tools to do so but from reading around this ssd drive with heatsink is the way to go, custom heatsinks offer ~15-20C reduction in cooling, however the drive with heatsink can get anywhere from ~20-30C reliably.
Loaded up Destiny 2 and everything was loading noticeabley faster than game storage – from title screen to loading into a game environment was very quick. Would recommend.
