Very easy to use, with a little white light which flickers when it is working. Using with Time Machine in a MacBook Pro, Backing-up about every 2 weeks as I have a large store of images which I add to regularly. Remember your password!

This seems to be the largest of the small portables. It says 5TB but it is actually 4.5TB. But whatever. Super simple to use – just plug into a USB socket using the supplied cable. Acceptably fast loading time.

Been using this storage device for a good few months now, filling it with photos and videos. Never any loss in speed or quality, great response times. Only ever had an issue when inserting it into older models as it says it needs formatting, but that’s just how these things work. Slim, portable and lightweight. Would buy agai

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersSeamless connection to my Mac through an adaptor with its USB cable, at first I wasn’t able to copy files from my Mac to the SeaGate hard drive, did some research and learnt that you need to copy all the files from the drive to your Mac, go to utility disk and Erase the hard drive entirely, select “ExFAT” and complete the steps. After that you can move files from and to the hard drive on your MacBook. It’s advertised as 2TB but maximum capacity is around 1.9, it’s light in weight and built from plastic. The white light stays on throughout the entire connection and when you eject it’s off. When you are transferring files it will be flashing and blinking to let you know a transfer is being made. Easily can be ejected from the Mac. Over all a great product and would recommend it for digital nomads needing more spaces for their data.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, BUT has some steps for Mac users!

I Used this to add extra storage to my Xbox series s unfortunately you can’t run new gen games off it but older Xbox One games work no problem (this is a Xbox issue not the Hard Drive).

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI got this storage for my PS5 and its really good. It transfers 90GB from my PS5 to this storage, and it took between 8 to 10 minutes. It’s fast, and it does what it says on the instructions.

Was looking for a reasonably priced but reliable external HDD for my new Mac mini – this ticks all the boxes has been reliable so far and is quick for an HDD

Bought this to consolidate the files from several external hard drives. The transfer was done quickly and efficiently. I now have all of my files in one place with plenty of room for the future. Very robust and great value from a market leader.

These are really good back-up drives – good capacity and reasonably quick data transfer at a good price – never had a reliability issue with them yet (hope I am not tempting fate….)

Bought one of these as storage to my Nvidia streaming device. Works perfectly, so I bought another to act as a backup to all my movies’/TV shows. Good transfer speeds and (so far) reliable. Recommended

Use for films great amount of space best deal at the time I could find, in fact in most cases cheaper than majority of 2nd user eBay deals

I use this alongside my MacBook Pro to back up on a daily basis. My IT guy introduced me to “Carbon Copy Cloner” software which I linked this too, it’s so quick and fast to back up. Been really impressed, very lightweight and portable too.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis 8 TB external hard drive is formatted to NTFS and ready to go straight out of the box. I got this because I wanted an alternative form of backup for my HP laptop rather than relying on windows One Drive. I created a system image backup file. I think this feature is from windows 7 this worked but I have not attempted a restore yet. I engaged File History also from Windows 7 but still available in windows 11 and it is working well. If it should fail within the first two years because its Segate you get attempted file recovery as part of the deal with this drive. The drive has no on/off switch, instead it relies on detecting power on the USB3 port which is incidentally its only interface. I found this a bit confusing as the disk is suuposed to power down once no power is detected at the USB3 interface. My drive powered down at computer shut down but immediately powered up again. Unknow to me at the time my lap top although off allows charging from its USB3 port the good news is you can turn this off from within the computer BIOS. All in all I am happy with my new external hard drive.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI use this with a laptop and solely for photos. It can be used for anything of course. Like most of us I have a lot of photos and don’t want to fill up my laptop ssd Card except for the ones I’m working on. This is ideal as both a back up , I have several, and a convenient size to carry around. Absolute bargain for me.

I purchased this 4TB hard drive to back up both my iMac and my Windows 11 laptop. I plugged it into the iMac and it was recognised straight away. I connected it to my laptop to partition the hard drive (couldn’t do it on the iMac). This allowed me to set up 3 partitions for the various tasks I wanted to perform. I have found it to be both quiet and quick at data transfer.
I would recommend this product and if needed to I would buy another one.

    Did what I expected.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is an excellent device, provided you know what you are getting. The description does not describe the connectivity well, it is by standard old school USB but utilizes a keyed connector on the drive and not a USB C as described by some sellers, they also get the size wrong as well. My only criticism is that the activity indicator is on the top and not on a viewable edge.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our Usersim confused by the actual capacity of the drive. I bought this 5TB drive to increase the capacity on my PS4. On connection to the PS4 the machine recognised the capacity as a 5TB drive. After formatting to be recognised by PS the capacity went down to 4.6TB, but no problem i thought. Then after installing 999Gb of data, the spare drive capacity is now showing as 1.8TB, which means the total capacity is now being recognised as 2.9TB. I’ll install more data over the weekend and see what happens.
Some have said the drive is noisy – i haven’t found that to be the case at all.
I’ll update this review after the weekend regarding true storage capacity for this unit.
