It works as it should but if you have something in microwave you need to keep an eye on you can’t because the glass in the door has what looks like mesh in it so you can’t see thro the glass doo
I love this microwave.
I bought one elsewhere about 7 years and passed it on to a friend.
Just bought myself another one. Love it.
Good looking and easy to use.
Proper retro,I finally have a beautiful retro kitchen, love the green colour. It is so easy to use,I’m not techno at all, this is just ideal for me and it looks lovely. Purchased this to go with all my retro SWAN items.Real quality and value for money.
Needed a microwave. Got a microwave and it does what I need it for and it was inexpensive. Don’t pay for features to brag about, if you don’t use them it’s a waste of money.
Microwave is efficient and works well. What is challenging is the light inside when on. It’s really difficult to see products are ok. Cooking porridge or hot chocolate is a leap of faith. If the light was brighter so you could see inside this would be 5 stars.
I wanted the same make as it has served me well since new, however, the turn and guess timer has drawbacks as often it never finished and stopped before the end of the time cycle….hence ruining food
i decided i wanted the same make and 900w
It was not possible when i was searching only the 800w
What I read it was it was not that much different.
I purchased the same model with a digital timer. BRILLIANT
Now it switches off and reminds me a few minutes after it is cooked and needs attention -if I have forgotten about it
I think it is more powerful because I need to cut time down now – it is the perfect microwave
Yes it is smaller, but everything fits in as before
One thing needs improving
The wording around the dials is very small but then I am I suppose very old at 84
but they need enlarging… SOLUTION
I photographed the dials. then enlarged them. printed the enlarger dial and placed it on the top of the microwave…. until I am able to memorise the settings…should I live that long ;-))
malc the fixe
Have been using for nearly a year and have experienced no problems. Slightly plastic-y door handle (metal effect is just paint) but has not worn off or otherwise deteriorated. Very satisfied with my first purchase of kitchenware from Amazon.
Top quality Microwave oven and easy to use. It looks great and it is absolutely top quality. I don’t think you can beat this oven for the price, it really is the business folks. Very retro looking with a top-quality look. Also, it really is simple to use lol even I can manage it!!! The de-frost is quick and simple and de-frosts without cooking the product. I really like that!!! Around it’s an excellent retro microwave oven for a very retro customer. LOL
5 BIG STARS!!!
Very pleased with this microwave. Bought when old one died and I wanted one a little bit more unusual than the standard white one. The pale blue is gorgeous and has already had lots of compliments! Easy to use and does the job it’s made for!
This microwave is just what i wanted love the retro look and after a long search just right colour i wanted. Its more powerful than my last and quieter. It was a bit tricker to work out all the options as more on it than my old model but there are utube videos that help but not that complicated in the end tho the instructions alone did not help. I love it.
Good replacement for our Delongi but you should check the size of your large dinner plates. A lot out there just say dinner plate size and only a few actually state the actual size. This gave the right size (270mm) and was perfect, it was a smaller outside size than our previous one so even better.
Good microwave, I love the design and the colour. it is still doing well 6 months on, it does make a bit of a slight squealing sound as the plate goes around (not too loud), but I think that’s normal and expected for this model. I like the settings and controls and it is powerful and cooks things fast. Very happy so far.
Love the colour, retro look and size but I only use manual timer and defrost,as the little pictures of settings are not at all clear to me as they are so tiny and I cannot figure it ou
Wanted a retro style to match other appliances, which it does perfectly. Been using for a few months now, no problems at all, controls very simple and easy to use, it does everything we want it to. The only slight downside is the oven itself is quite low and it is a tight fit with items like rice pouches, but I adapt and overcome
For me there is no question re the look of the swan microwaves, they do look nice & are easy to use. Despite reading the instruction leaflet and doing everything as suggested I was a little disappointed that after the first couple of uses some of the inside plastic turned slightly yellow in patches, I stress slightly. I did hesitate whether to ring them up and ? but with being busy with life and needing a microwave, left it. The yellowing has not got any worse and besides that I have no complaints. The light does stay on when you leave the door open which, I do like to do sometimes to disperse any smells – rightly or wrongly. For the most part I am happy with this product.
Very easy to use, just turn the large lower dial clockwise and tap the start button. We tend not to use the auto cook features or the lower power settings, but they are there if you need them. There’s a speed cooking setting where pressing start gives you 30 seconds cooking time, and you keep tapping start for additional 10 seconds of time. To be honest we just use the turn dial and press start method all the time.
The oven is a nice colour red, which is a close match to our fridge-freezer, so it looks the part. The clock is a glowing colour of blue which looks nice too.
I like how the rollers are removable to make it very easy to clean the bottom of the oven, after you remove the glass plate.
Make sure to clean it after every use, even if it just needs a wipe around with a kitchen towel. Also leave the door open for a little while after use. A clean and dry microwave will last you longer.
I looked at all the available red microwaves, I wanted one with a kitchen timer as we always used the one on the old unit for general kitchen use. I opted for this microwave in the end and bought a magnetic kitchen timer that sticks to the side of the fridge. Very pleased with the results.
Our old microwave was 700W, this one being 800W is definitely better. About 40 seconds to heat luke warm coffee instead of one minute.
A decent microwave for the price, easy and quick to use, keep it clean and dry inside.
Ten out of ten to Amazon support: having noticed that this microwave carries a 2 year warranty I left my number on the customer service page. I was called back instantly and after going through what the issue is the lovely lady I spoke to is sending me out a new microwave. It will arrive the day after tomorrow So, I am going to give Swan another chance. Well done Amazon.
I purchased the Swan Microwave in April 2021. It is easily the most expensive microwave I have ever bought. It has had only very light use 2 or 3 minutes here and there to reheat food or warm plates etc. It started making grinding noises a few months ago. This evening it made a very loud humming noise then a loud pop! It no longer heats anything. It has bitten the dust in just over 18 months. My cheap 35.00 one which I replaced with the Swan and gave away to a family member is still going strong and must be 8 years old if it’s a day.
The one star is for the colour.I could not recommend buying one.
Below is my original review, how wrong I was about it’s performance!
I mostly only use a microwave to heat up and this sets my kitchen off a treat along with it’s other matching kitchen accessories. Easy to use knobs (as opposed to digital settings). I can’t review any cooking as such because I don’t use it to cook in but I would imagine if you did it would perform well.
Bought this to match my other swan kitchen items. Nice and shiny and clean looking.
It looks lovely and very striking with the polished door and chrome handle and dials. Nice that it has a digital display, although the display is blue and it seems to blur a little. It’s not just me, my hubby and a friend also noticed it blurs when you’re about 2 metres away.
The biggest down side is that it’s a little small.
Microwaveable pouches only just fit in and touch the top on the inside. But they do fit, so that’s good!
Plus my large plates do not fit and they stop the turn table glass from spinning. So I use my small plates instead!
It looks really nice.
Plus the feature I do like is that once the timer has finished amid it beeps, it also does a reminder beep until you open the door.
I’m forever warming up coffee and forgetting it’s in the microwave, so I love that aspect.
Great buy for me, the positives outweigh the negatives, so it’s all good.
Important please read full review
Love the microwave and I did want the full range ie orange kettle toaster, looked on amazon for them but none here, so went on Swan website and they are out of stock with no due back in stock date, which means I’ll have to find an other make of the Orange kettle and toaster, I am very unhappy with this as it will be hard to get a colour match.
Update I held of getting a different make of toaster and kettle and managed to order it from amazon some good months later so now very happy my toaster arrived 5 days early, still waiting on the kettle, the only downside at the moment is I can’t find anymore Swan orange kitchen equipment like the bin, bread bin, tea sugar and coffee containers again very disappointed with Swan, updated 5th November 2020 please stay clear of all Swan products I purchased the kettle, microwave and toaster, the toaster blew my electric 2 weeks in use managed to get a full refund, the kettle the lid is rusting away and it’s not even a year old, my microwave blew the electrics I purchased the microwave in 2019 and I only use it occasionally I’ve replaced the fuse and it’s no longer working, I’m very disappointed with swan, back in my childhood my mother only bought Swan and I honestly thought Swan was a name to be trusted, how wrong am I, they are rubbish, now I have to purchase a new kettle, microwave and toaster, I’m not happy that I now have to replace these in such a short time period, I have very little money and I struggle to purchase these swan items
So as other posts have mentioned it isn’t exactly the colour shown on every website I have looked at. It is slightly lighter (see photos) which would match the rest of the range that they do. It does however look very smart and classy. It’s feels and looks good quality and even has a fancy clock (I like things like that)
I’ve not tested it yet but I’ve already gathered that it won’t fit an uncle bens (or any other make) packet rice in it that has to stand up, but if this is the only issue I can handle that. If you are particularly partial to packet rice though I would advise on buying the bigger capacity model or your rice will continually fall over while cooking.
It was delivered a day early and came well packaged as true to form with Amazon products. It is rather heavy (as you would imagine) I struggled to carry it up the three flights of stairs to my office but more because it was bulky. This was mainly due to the tons of air filled packaging than the product itself though.
I am really pleased with how it looks in my kitchen though and have now just got to figure out what all the fancy buttons do, I have however managed to set the clock which is a good start 🙂 I’ve rated it a 4 just because of the very slight difference in colour.
Let just hope it works as well as it looks now!
Excellent microwave so far!
It has far more functions than I’ll ever need, (I’m used to just having 2 dials, one that was always on full, and the other for the time) but I guess it’s nice to have options!
It does appear far smaller than my last 20L microwave, it’s lower inside and out and it’s about 5mm off of letting me put my expensive larger plates in it (but our back up argos value dinner plates fit in with about 2mm to spare!) I personally am fine with having it lower in height as I don’t tend to microwave towers of food!
It’s also quite nice to have the time on it, although the light is awfully bright. (My clock also makes a high pitched buzzing noise, not sure if that’s because I have exceptionally amazing hearing or we just have a duff clock? The buzzing is why I’ve knocked it down a star.) It also counts down when nuking, which is nice!
I got cream, which is a slightly yellowy cream, but I like it 🙂
Inside, it is white painted, but looks easy to clean. I’m slightly worried about the lip above the door as it’s not curved, it’s jsut a right nagle, so you can’t see if it’s clean up there (or rusty!)
The light inside comes on when cooking, and whenever you open the door which is a little annoying when you’ve left the door open for it to dry out etc.
The Microwave arrived several hours ago. It was a bargain that I was grateful for given the time of year. I’ve now used it successfully and, although its voice is considerable louder than the 15 year old beautiful deep yellow Daewoo which was on its way out, sigh, it heated a bowl of yesterday’s stew efficiently.
However, before I got to using it, I noticed that this microwave just didn’t sit comfortable where my poor Daewoo recently sat. Seemed to have one of its feet off the worktop slightly. Fixed that temporarily with a piece of silicone to level it up so that I could see how it looked from a couple of yards away. Not too bad – its just that I’m still missing Daewoo.
It was when I went to open the door that the loss of a star came into it. Daewoo had a push-button door (but to be fair to Swan, no digital clock). WHY would a microwave that strangely has feet with no hint of a bit of non-slip material attached …. have a handle that, when pulled to open, starts moving a relatively light-weight item across the worktop? Not too convenient, or very safe, if you have to remember to keep one hand on the microwave while opening the door so that it doesn’t move forward.
Then I got around to fixing the slip as well as the wobble. For anyone finding the microwave slipping, silicone non-slip table mats are the answer. They’re non-slip on both sides and heatproof. They’re designed to ensure that sailors don’t get a bowl of boiling stew in their lap and can be bought from marine shops and probably elsewhere. I got mine from a friend who lives on a boat. They can be cut easily with scissors and are great for stopping lots of things from sliding or being pulled off surfaces. So now the Swan has some nice non-slip heatproof squares under its feet. This stops the sliding, I can’t even pull it forward.
Other than the above, the clock was easy to set up (once I’d found the page with the instructions) and the food heated up nicely. To me, I fear, it will never look as good as poor Daewoo, but it’s easy on the eye and it matches (near enough) the new Morphy Richards cream 4 slice toaster which was also needed to replace poor old Avanti who, having seen that kitchen mate Daewoo was dying, finally gave up the will to raise a toast, poor thing :/
