Bought this to take on holiday so I didn’t have to hire a car seat abroad. Was perfect for my child who could use it as a back pack through the airport and then a booster seat in the car. It also came in handy as a high chair for restaurants.

Best buy. We got it for a flight and a taxi ride. Very easy to use and we saw lots of kids at the airport with the same bag. Remember to label the bag.

Used for a holiday rental car. Held just enough to keep entertained on the plane. Sturdy and easy to use and keep clean. Much easier than carrying a car seat, or renting a potentially dirty one on holiday!

This is the second of these boosters we have purchased (one got forgotten in hire car and never retrieved). They have both been very well made, easy to install in/out of the car. It’s a great seat for my 8 year old and the fact that it has storage under the seat is fantastic as we can put her toys/books in it when travelling.

    I would highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI bought this for a Ryanair flight to Italy for my boy who is 3.5 years and weight just over 15kg. It fits under the seat on the plane and we were able to put my son’s toys and book in it. It doesn’t slide and was really easy and quick to use, ideal for travelling on short car and taxi rides. I wouln’t use it for long journeys though, it doesn’t have a back or head-rest so not ideal to nap in. It complies with EU and UK regulations and made travelling with a young child a much more relaxed experience.

This is just genius. It makes traveling abroad with a four year-old so much easier. It fits her toys, snacks and a couple of books and easily slides under the seat on the airplane. Then we arrive and just pop it into a rental car or taxi. As other reviewers have noted, this is not sized for a small child to carry, rather an older child or adult, but I found it to be easy to handle, comfortable and lightweight as a backpack.

Useful for when travelling. Also has a decent space in backpack. Too heavy for child to carry as backpack for extended period of time.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy son is 4 and a half. Bought this to be used as hand luggage on a flight and then as a car seat whilst abroad. This is absolutely great. It does not slide around as the plastic booster seats do. We also have a small folding travel car seat (mifold) with seat belt adjustment, but he would not stay on it and would slump. The trunki one was great for that. I even managed to get him into it whilst he was asleep.

This is a sturdy booster seat but a bit heavy for a four year old to wear, maybe ok for a 7 or 8 year old. Nevertheless so useful to carry on holiday as hire car seats are grotty and expensive

Too early to tell how durable this is though my oldest grandaughter has had a trunki for several years and has used and loved it.
My 7year old grandson was thrilled with his and I believe we will find it very useful particularly on holiday when it saves the significant cost of hiring a car seat.

The storage space under the seat is ideal for a few toys. The whole thing is a great design and totally fit for purpose. Would definitely recommend. We bought in the U.K and took it to America with us. Saved us a fortune in hiring car seats. Easy to fit. I also bought a shoulder pad to go on the seatbelt. It made it more comfortable for my 4 Yr old grandson.

Golden Review Award: 45 From Our UsersI bought this for my son when he was 2, but he wasn’t really old enough to sit in it properly until he was three. We travel quite a bit, and having this double as a rucksack is very convenient. We can install it in taxis in seconds, and with the shoulder strap adapter, it’s always snug around his body. We were in an accident 5 days ago that sent the other driver to the hospital. My son was the only person in our car uninjured. I will be forever grateful to Trunki for this brilliant and well-made safety booster seat.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGood item and worked for us travelling on holiday. Can’t fit a lot in the storage but enough toys and bits and bobs for the littles ones and very tough and robust. As a car seat it works but would only use it for the holiday travel situation or occasional journey in say a taxi as not the most comfortable. Does a good job but it certainly doesn’t replace a proper child’s car seat for safety and comfort for normal everyday travel. Recommend 3 and above age wise.

Great option to take to the USA with us when we travelled for a recent holiday. Simple to use, seemed very stable in the car and mister seven enjoyed the ride (even our 4hr drive day when we wondered if there might be a complaint or two about a hard seat he was sitting on). Will now become our spare seat at home, and be used for all future travel. Highly recommended.

Good quality, nice look, easy clean/wipe, lightweight. Only obvious thing is no support on the back, so not great for sleeping. It’s ok for short trips and travelling. However if your child likes to move around there’s not an awful lot to stop them. Also very easy for them to unplug their seat belt, which is an issue with all booster seats. I would recommend getting a guard/cover to put over the seat belt clip.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersBought one of these for a recent trip to New York with our 4yr old daughter.
Overall this was a fantastic product – we were in and out of Taxi’s and restaurants (with no high-chairs) – my daughter loved it – it raised her up to a safe height in cars/taxi’s and overall was great. The ability to use the small rucksack compartment meant we could take snacks/drinks for my daughter with ease (great!)

The only challenge was fitting the seatbelt adjuster. Whilst this was a great function, it was very fiddly to attached and remove when getting in and out of Taxi’s on busy main streets – This element of the product could certainly do with a re-design.

Otherwise excellent – highly recommend this produc

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersGreat item, pops into a car within a minute or two once you know what you are doing, you just unfurl the back, put it down on the seat, fit and adjust the red clip seatbelt adjuster with a 3 point seatbelt and your’re good to go. strap your kid into the seat and you are ready to travel. We are planning on taking it on holiday with us as well. it’s very light, even the little one can carry it.

According to recent legislation, it’s still usable, but whether that will change or not in the future makes it very worthwhile checking it’s still ok to use when you purchase. I bought mine March/April this year 2018 and it was still ok.

  20. Anonymous says:

Overall, very good. Really like the sholder strap that attaches to the seatbelt as it does a great job of keeping the seatbelt in the right location and away from a child’s neck. Great if just using for one child, however, it takes a while to adjust, so it is a little time consuming if the seat were to be used for different children. Transforming to a backpack is a good idea if child needs to carry it between different vehicles, but storage space cannot be used once child is in the seat, so is of very limited use if just keeping in one vehicle. Expensive.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought 2 of these last august for my boys and left it a while before writing a review (feb) … I’m completely in love with these BoostApaks and when my younger twins get old/big enough I will be purchasing another 2 !!! I have used these in all situations – daily use, long travel distances, school runs, even hospital appointments and emergencies !!! all parents who have had to stay over night or go in via ambulance with a child knows the exact pain I’m referring to here – poorly/sick child or urgent emergency – gathering nappies, wipes, quick selection of comfort/calming toys from their box, pjs/change of clothes for them (and yourself !!!), their fave book/ipad, your phone, charger, wallet etc – all of that on top of an unwell child and then the dreaded car seat !!! NIGHTMARE !!! this with careful packing … boom done everything in one 😀 the a&e staff and paediatricians etc at my local hospital love them also … an even bigger bonus is that these fit into multiple vehicles (no need to check if they will sit right on the seats) and the main bonus is of course the safety … we had a bump recently and I’m thrilled to say that my children did not move … thankyou Trunki x

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s super easy to use and really handy to have when travelling. We used it during a trip to Athens when we had to take taxis or rent a car. There is enough space for books and toys, even a set of clothes. The only drawback is that , it can become a bit heavy when full and it’s quite big for my 5-year-old son to carry. But I guess he will grow into it and be able to carry it when he’s older. I’m very satisfied and I definitely recommend it. It’s a life saver!!

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersWe bought this Boostapack when our daughter was one year old. She is now 8 and we still use it! We even gave it a nickname: the turtle.

It’s a bit bulky and heavy so we never used it as a daily backpack but whenever we travel we take it along – great for taxis or rental cars. When she was small we were also using it as a seat booster in restaurants / at friends’.

Our routine has become to stuff the turtle with what she needs on holiday and we bring along in my carry-on a light backpack with toys she uses on the plane/train. On our last road trip she complained it was a bit hard but it was when we were driving 5-6 hours a day…

It’s super easy to install, clean and overall gives a sense of security. Needless to say that it’s durable…

Works as advertised. Took on Ryanair flights and week-long car trip. As a backpack, it can be heavy for the younger ones, depending on what you place in it. Saved tons of money not having to rent car seat from car agency. Used as backpack and booster on flights, so no need to struggle for a place to stow the backpack :). Saves back seat space in car because this is not as wide as a regular booster seat — important when seating 3 across. Will continue to use as needed; will definitely come in handy when child traveling in friends’ cars.

Booster seats without a high back are obviously not as safe as the high-backed variety, but they provide the legal protection for children 4 years old and up, and this is a great looking, well designed product which can get you out of a bind on the occasions where you need to use someone else’s vehicle, (like a friend/relatives car or a taxi, for example). We bought it for a holiday in the US – renting a car child seat for three weeks is much more expensive than buying one, so we bought the Boostapak to get us from the rental center to a Walmart where we can buy a cleaner, better seat than one provided by the rental company and for less money.

The backpack comes in a range of colours, and is relatively easy to fit (I’d recommend practicing for a couple of minutes before you need to use it in anger – at least to get the shoulder clip to the correct height). The pack sits straps side down on the car seat, unfold the velcro cover and flip up the seat belt hooks, then move the shoulder clip to the diagonally opposite shoulder from the seat, and route the seat belt through. I feels like a nice secure fitting, and actually feels more secure than some of the more traditional booster cushions. Plus our little one is happy to carry it round with him and pack his possessions in it. Everybody’s happy!

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersWe ordered the green and pink one of these for a trip to New Zealand and Australia with a 3 and 5 year old. They were an absolute God send. Firstly they can store quite a few toys, books and cuddlies in. Perfect for trips no matter how big or small. Secondly they’re sturdy and I was quite confident and happy to use them as a booster seat. They’re very easy to use. We got lots of comments from other travellers about how handy they were. They also saved us a small fortune in car seats for hire cars. We were quoted 5 per day per seat. As we were travelling for a month with two children this would really have mounted up!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a very clever item.

Like thousands of other parents we have the problem of how to take child boosters abroad to avoid paying over the top (normally 5-10 per day) for the normally ancient/worn/stained ones you get given by the hire companies. This deals with that problem as the kids can carry it on the plane, and also keep a few items in it (like that Kindle, DS, change of clothes, etc).

But it’s not just a booster seat with back straps. It’s actually a very clever booster seat in itself. I particularly like the adjustable (you can change it from left to right, and you can adjust its length to match the child’s height) seat belt guide that ensures that the seat belt goes over their shoulders and not over their necks (as with the normal adult position). There are also clear and very comprehensive instructions that come with it, and which are also printed on the fabric itself (so no worries about losing them). Finally the cover comes apart and can be washed. In fact these are a lot better than the booster seats we have currently in our cars and I’m tempted to switch them over permanently.

Fantastic!!! we bought 2 to use on our recent holiday and the boys LOVED them. The boys used them as their carry on bags on the plane and managed to fit their colouring books and snacks and iPads in there and we also used them as car seats in our hire car. Would say that they are quite bulky and heavy by themselves, even without anything in them for a 3-4 year old so we had to carry it for him but my eldest son who is 5 was able to carry his without any issues. They were easy to use as car seats and very solid. Have already recommended to family and friends with children for holiday and temporary use.

Initially bought to use with our kids at a sporting event(s) these have proved invaluable. We needed booster seats for the stadium and also knew we’d need a day bag(s). These gave us both. The bag isn’t particularly large, but managed the standard-issue pack of wipes, spare clothes and a drink. As we had two (for our 3-yr-old and 5-yr-old) we used the other bag for felt-tips and colouring books as well as our own gubbins. Result!
Now that we have the BoostApaks we’ve also taken them with us for other days out – and found they provide impromtu boosters on trains, buses and at cafs – all of which we’d have coped with (without the bag/booster) but are far easier with the backpack in tow. Having been a little sceptical I am now a BoostApak convert! (Yes, they are expensive – but then they are doing two jobs at the same time, the engineering/design is very clever and the construction sturdy. I wouldn’t complain if the price dropped though!)

Great product, I would strongly recommend this!
Gives you much more confidence than the usual booster seat as you can control the position of the seat belt to ensure it is both safe and comfortable for the child. Great for occasional use, much easier than taking the normal car seat out when the child is taking a trip in a friends / relatives car.
Really good for travelling, especially as it is a) expensive and b) unreliable booking car seats with car hire companies.
My 6 year old son loves this, he can pack his own ‘essentials’ for the trip and it is comfortable to carry as a back pack too
Well done Trunki & Amazon for the great price!

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThe baby and child related world of products is truly littered with bold claims of “the must have essential”, “ideal gadget” or “this will make your life easier”. This BoostApak really does do all of those things.

The problem this product solves is one that the majority of parents that travel will face at some point in their lives. If you are traveling abroad with young children and want to rent a car in your destination then rental companies will charge you an extortionate 30 to 40 a week to hire a child seat, even for a basic booster seat that you can pick up for less than 10 in your local supermarket. The problem with taking a booster seat with you (which is fine, airlines will not even charge you for it to be put in as hold baggage) is that it is one extra bulky item to worry about in an already stressful traveling environment of traveling with children. By combining this in to a bag the obvious advantage is that you can actually use it for storage space, replacing the kids bag that you would normally take with you. It really is that simple but sooooo convenient, saves time, money and hassle.

In terms of the product itself, it is really easy to convert from a bag to a seat and it is really sturdy and robust when used as a seat, certainly much better than your 10 foam supermarket booster seat I mentioned above. I have found the build quality to be very good, this is our second BoostaPak and our previous 3 year old model is still in very good condition. it is a veteran of about 8 trips abroad and also gets used as our everyday booster seat in out car at home even when we are not traveling.

Obviously this is only a booster seat so only really suitable from about 5 years old onwards. If your children are younger then I’m afraid you have no option but to either rent a baby or infant seat in your destination or preferably take one with you on the airplane (handy tip – you can do that, no airline (even budget) will charge you to check in a car seat).

The only negative worth mentioning is that with the flat, stiff back this is a bit uncomfortable when used as a back pack, I guess this is one design limitation of combining a seat with a bag. Given the limited amount of time that you actually use this as a bag though, this has never been an issue for us. Also the slightly rough exposed bit of Velcro on the seat section of the earlier models is now covered in the later models.

As a parent of 3 children I can quite honestly say this is the most useful bit of kit that we use and makes traveling so much easier. Looking forward to buying my third one in about 3 years time, this time in pink!

Going to Portugal with a four year old this year, and car seat hire overseas is ridiculously expensive, so we bought this. We’ve used it for a week or so at home and it’s been great. It’s smaller than a regular car seat so we will still use it if we have two adults in the back too but it’s going into storage for now because we want to keep it safe for the holiday.
It’s light and has enough space to carry her portable DVD and some discs as well as books and pencils. Really good value for money; a car seat and flight luggage!
Ive added this after two years use. The seat has been used on two flights to France as well as Portugal and also as our spare seat if we need it. It doesn’t stay in the car all the time but it does get used and it looks as good as ever.
I’m sorry to read rhat others have been disappointed by the build quality but we’ve had no problems at all.

Having had numerous experiences of hiring cars abroad and arriving to find no child seats (or terrible ones) I bought these for our kids aged nearly 8 and nearly 5. Excellent design and build quality, easy to use, light enough for the kids to carry and a decent sized capacity back pack too (coat, book, cuddly, snacks and a pirate costume all fitted in!). Great on a coach and in a hire car – but even used them on a moutain-climbing 4×4 trip and stood the test – comfortable and secure. Kids loved them. They’re obviously not as safe as a full-scale child seat, but as the next best thing for a trip away these are great.

We have bought Trunki BoostApak for our 5year old son to take on a round trip of 5 weeks. It has exceeded all our expectations. It’s easy to use, easy to clean with just a wet cloth. On top of that, our son sits high and he loves the ‘backpack’ part of it as he can take some toys/books with him. The only negative point is that it’s a bit big for a 5 year old to carry, but he insisted on doing so and could manage it just fine.
As for the quality, we have used it every day for 5 weeks, installing in many different cars, taking it on the plane, etc. and it looks just like new. The big advantage for us was being able to fit Trunki in between two regular children’s car seats, so all 3 kids could sit at a back of the car. Also, it saved us lots of money, as we didn’t have to rent a third car seat. So the first thing we did when we came back from our trip, is order two more Trunki’s for our younger kids, who are now 3.5, so that we can use them on our next fly&drive trip without having to pay a fortune for the car seat rental.
As for the age, I think a 3-3.5 year old could use Trunki safely as well, it’s just that in the country we went to the law required that kids under 4 be seated in the car seat and not a booster, otherwise we would have taken three of them from the start.
In the meantime we have used Trunki’s at home as well, ideal if you take kids’ playmates for a short ride or let your kid ride in someone else’s car and they don’t have an extra car seat.
Would certainly recommend this car seat/backpack, and especially if you need one on vacation. I wouldn’t use it daily at home, just because I prefer car seats with Isofix, as they stay fixed when nobody is sitting on them.
I read that some people had issues with the straps or the zippers of the backpack; we didn’t experience any problems at all. But then again, those reviews are mostly from 3-4 years ago, so it looks like those issues have been solved in the meantime.

Bought two for my 8 and 6 yr old children to take on holidays abroad where we always have hire cars. Very pleased with them. They convert from backpack to booster seat in a few seconds and are then better than most standalone booster seats on the market (certainly a lot better than the dross units you get lent by hire car companies).
As backpacks they are slightly more limited. The hard shell makes them heavier than regular rucksacks however they have a decent amount of storage (plenty to keep a child busy on a flight) and are comfortable for children to wear. A really excellent, truly dual purpose product. The kids like them (and it makes them look like two little turles when they’re wearing them – in a good way).

I bought two booster seats and I am so pleased. I bought green and pink. I went on holiday and this two packs were absolutely brill. I used them on a plane as hand luggages for my children. I packed them with some toys, leappads, crayons and papier, books and drinks and crisps. My flight was fantastics because my kids (over 4 yrs old and nearly 3 yrs old) were so busy with toys and other things I packed to this spacesious booster packs. I have to mention I was on my own with my children. I also used them on holiday as booster seat in friends cars (very handy items). Once my husband took our kids carseats in his car then I needed to go to hospital with my friend and her son so gladly it wasnt a problem because I used trunki booster seat for my son. We bought both Trunkis in special offer so we saved on two about 30.00 but even if we need to pay full price I still would buy them.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI had a fabulous experience of the BoostApak during our recent travel abroad. My 4 yr old loved it and wanted to pack his “essential” toys in it. I found the back straps quite sturdy unlike the other reviews so Trunki might fixed this issue.
As a car seat in a rental car it is quite comfortable and the car seat belt fit securely between the side rests. The only reason it doesn’t get the 5 stars from me is – it’s a bit heavy for a 4 yr old to carry and the seat belt adjuster is only on one side which make is redundant if the child is sat on the rear right side of the car.

What a buy!! The Trunki was such a find for us, I bought it for our trip to Finland and it was great. I was able to pack in there all the essentials for my little one for the plane, used it as our hand luggage, the compartment is very large and can fit quite a few things. The seat itself was fab, it took a little while to set it up with the seat belt so take a look at it before you travel. Also there is no age mentioned on here and it is from age of 4 which I did not realise. Saying that, it worked fine for my boy and he is nearly 2, I know we will get a lot of use out of it. Would highly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this to avoid having to use hire car seats when on holiday but I was also thinking about the potential for an extra car seat for the school run or something easy to drop off at school if someone else was picking up. This got a good testing on holiday and I was really pleased with it. As a seat it is easy to install and is high enough to be able to see out of the car easily which makes life a lot more pleasant! The guide for the seat belt is one of the best I have tested but as with most, it does slip off the shoulder and I am not sure there is any way around this as it all depends on the angle of the seat belt fitting of the individual car.

As a backpack, it is not super light but it isn’t heavy either (if you bear in mind it is principally a car seat). I got a lot into it – a week’s worth of books, a change of clothes, pens and paper and the favourite teddy. It easily takes an A4 book but anything a bit bigger can rest on the ledge just under the zip. So I thought it took a really good amount.

Overall it is a really well designed bit of kit that should see a lot of use and was definitely worth the investment.

This little seat has been a huge hit, with us. We have used this for travel to several countries and have found it so easy to travel with. It is easy to install, and light enough to carry through an airport, with lots of other luggage. We did discover some confusion with the seat during safety checks at an airport in India (the shape of the plastic seat belt paths, sent this seat through security twice), but otherwise it has come in so handy. We also love the fact it is great for riding with friends, and in taxis. I think it’s great to have such a convenient safety device, like this. I am really happy we chose this seat over other options. Though it won’t be put into daily use, I think otherwise it is a great travel option for our child.

We use it on my husband’s car as our child only uses it on a casual basis (nursery run or trip to town) and it’s perfect as it is easy to open and fold back then store in the boot. We also give it to granny when she minds the child, it’s handy. We took it on holidays with us twice, the first time it was great in the taxi we used, the second time we used it in a hired car and didn’t have to pay for the extra cost to include a booster seat. Easy to carry for our toddler at airports (toys can fit in the inside compartment), even the Customs were impressed and asked where we bought it! They obviously didn’t watch Dragon’s Den 😉

got one for my niece’s upcoming visit. Very lightweight and will hopefully do the job. Be aware that it is NOT as easy to fit as they would have you believe, and the instructions are not at all clear. Fortunately there are user videos around to advise.

The shoulder strap seatbelt guide is the issue. It comes clipped to the pack and is a struggle to release. You need to connect it on the side AWAY from the car door (the instructions use the word ‘buckle’ but it is not clear what they mean). You then adjust it for size, and pass it diagonally across the child’s back (so let’s hope it doesn’t rub) and force the seatbelt into it. The car in the official video must have wrecked belts because they slide in easily. On mine it is hard work.

hopefully once this is all done, it will be approved by the user! I have to set it up in advance because she won’t sit still for ages while I adjust it.

EDIT – the user said it was comfortable and seemed very pleased with it. Also means she can sit with her legs bent like a grownup, so she isn’t kicking the back of the front seat. She is only 3.5 and as she can lean sideways out of it, best used with an adult sitting next to her in the back. Also remember to set the child locks on the car doors, once they move out of baby seats they have much more freedom of movement.

We bought this specifically to take on holiday. I first saw this on dragon’s den years ago and it was one of those items that I thought was fantastically designed. Car seats in hire cars are dirty and usually the cheapest seats available, I’m sure of their safety ratings although they are all to the minimum safety standard. I was much more confident with the safety of the trunki booster.
As a rucksack it’s ok, my daughter put in a snack, sandwich, baby wipes, magazine, some crayons and a cuddly toy! Not quite as big as a normal kiddies’ rucksack but big enough for our requirements.
Some people complained it was heavy, I agree it is heavy but to be honest the functionality of the trunking far outweighs whether it is heavy or not. If the manufacturer could find a way of decreasing the weight it would be perfect.
Overall a well thought out and well made product. I’m a bit of a trunki fan!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWe ordered this for our 4 year old as an ‘extra’ travel booster seat as we were getting tired of renting 2 car seats whenever we travel. Our son loved sitting on it (especially on the plane, where he could finally see out the window easily) but he complained of the straps hurting him when he carried it. Sure enough, we took the pack off and he had a raw spot on his shoulder. We had put his toys in it, and my husband suggested maybe we souldn’t use it to carry things but I figure that’s part of the benefit of a booster-seat/backpack, you should be able to put things in it and still let a child carry it. My suggestion would be for a bit more ‘padding’ on the shoulder straps to make it more comfortable for small children to use. Other than that, we love the product and will be ordering one for our two year old soon (for use on planes only for now, and then as a car seat booster when he’s big enough!)

Just what was required to have some piece of mind in transporting our 2 year old daughter by taxi from the airport on our recent holiday in Majorca.
She is significantly above average weight and height for her age, but I checked with Trunki’s helpline, and they advised there is no minimum height requirement only weight. Didn’t have any issues with straps (assume faulty batch long since sold) and the velcro problem of scratching legs, seems to have been addressed. Roomy enough for some inflight books, toys and snacks and very handy for dining tables when no high chair available. Would only use as a car booster seat when no other option, as obviously little impact protection compared to age appropriate car seats.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWe bought 2 of these for our boys (aged 4 & 2) as we were off on holiday; taxi to the airport followed by a hire car at the other end for 2 weeks. The seats were used from the moment go.

The storage is surprisingly good and I managed to get my sunglasses, wallet, iPad, and camera in there along with my 2 year old’s dinosaurs, nappies and wipes. The casing is rigid so the items are well protected.

The converting to a seat takes literally seconds, and I do mean seconds. The boys didn’t complain about comfort and both fell asleep at various points when using them as a booster seat. They must be good; they are now going to replace the old child seats in one car.

They are obviously heavier than a normal fabric backpack but that goes without question.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis is excellent, I bought it for taking on holiday in other countries, wanting to have a handy car seat solution for day trips on coaches etc. In the meantime its in the car,I filled ours with spare clothes and bits and pieces for those unfortunate travel sickness incidents! It fits nicely in the boot and stores all those bits and bobs neatly. We had to pick up another child the other week and I just got it out of the boot and put in the car and away we went. It starts from about age 4 upwards (my 3 year old is not big enough for it) you simply un-velcro the flap and the 2 hard plastic sides flip up and lock into place, there is a strap to hold the car seat belt in the correct shoulder position for smaller kids. When its time to pack away there is a button release on each piece, its folds down and fabric flaps re-velcro and cover all the moving parts. Fabric is thick and sturdy as are the zip, well made.I’m not sure a child would be happy lugging it about as a full backpack all day, but for those travel essentials, book,ds etc it would be fine. My 9 year old thinks its great. I would definately look at investing in this especially if you are going on a fly-drive holiday as its dual purpose and you can trust it, and its a great price and much cheaper than hiring a car seat when you get to your destination, and its also handy for those times when you have to transport other peoples children.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have recently bought this product for my daughter who is nearly four. Although she is within the weight band for using the booster seat, she is still a little small for it and we are having trouble adjusting the car seatbelt so that it sits on her shoulder without sliding off. I am still not entirely sure whether I am entirely comfortable with her using it at this stage, but we will still take it on holiday with us so that we have some peace of mind when using Spanish taxis!
My daughter’s lack of height also means that the pack is a bit heavy for her to use as a backpack, even when empty, so I will be carrying it as my hand luggage.
Nonetheless, this is a very smart and well-made product, which will be ever more useful as she gets older; it would just be nice to have had a little more information about suitability related to the user’s size beyond a weight guide before I made the purchase.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHaving watched the Apprentice episode which involved the backpack /booster seat I thought I’d try one out for our holiday to Paris.
I looked online and found quite a few. I selected the trunki one and I have to say it’s fabulous.
My daughter (age 7) loves the fact that she’s responsible for her own bag, especially on the plane! There’s plenty of room inside for all sorts of things including her DS, magazines & books, and a variety of other toys. She did find it a little heavy at times (I suspect that may have been to the amount of stuff she had in it).
It easily converts from backpack to car seat by undoing the velcro and snapping up the arms. She found it very comfortable in the car and also used it for sitting around in the airport when waiting for luggage etc. It also has a clip that keeps the seatbelt away from her neck. This can be moved very easily from one side to the other depending on where she sits in the car.
I’d certainly recommend this product. Trunki BoostApak Travel Pack Booster Sea

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought 2 of the Trunki BoostApaks for our 4 and 7 year olds to use on holiday to Spain this year. I found they worked brilliantly and my children loved them. They excitedly packed up their bedtime teddy and toys to take on holiday, plus I slipped in a few things to keep them occupied on the plane journey. The boostapaks hold just enough so they don’t become too heavy for the kiddies to carry – my 4 year old loved to carry hers although it was a bit big for her back and she did need me to help her with it after a while.

The boostapaks fit within the hand luggage regulations and they slipped nicely under the seat in front on the plane, so they were easily accessible during the flight. Once at our destination they were very easy to convert to a booster seat by simply pulling up the front cover, flipping out the green arms and threading the across body part of the seat belt through the red guide. This kept the belt in place over their shoulder so it did not cut into their neck. The booster seat is of a reasonable size and is quite high and deep.

I did not have any of the quality issues reported in other reviews – I think they have sorted those out now.

Overall I would highly recommend the boostapak which I know we will use again and again.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis has been a brilliant buy. We bought it for a holiday abroad and as an extra booster seat and it has been better than we hoped for.

The travel pack is big enough for a small rucksack which we put inside loaded with things to play with on the plane.

The booster seat is sturdy and comfortable and worked well as an extra seat for a second car and for the trip to the airport and in the hire car abroad. It was far better than the seats we got from the car hire firm last year.

It can also be useful for a child to sit on while waiting in the queue at the airport check in desk!

It is very easy to set up as a seat, the soft back lifts up, the solid arms fold out and the base is strong and sturdy to sit on.

The backpack is fine with easily adjustable straps but may be a bit bulky for very small children.

We are very pleased with this purchase and will hopefully get years of use out of it.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI bought this car seat for a recent long-haul holiday with my four year old (she has quite a long body so it might not be suited to all four year olds). There was enough room in the backpack to carry a change of clothes, a magazine, crayons and teddy bear for the flight (though I did have to carry it myself!) and so we made her carry-on luggage. I am not sure if any airlines allow you to actually use a booster seat on a plane; I suspect not.

My daughter was so chuffed to be trying a booster seat that there were no complaints on our car journeys. It was easy to set up too.

We were on a small island and I doubt if we ever went faster than 30 mph so I wasn’t too worried about switching from a full car seat to a booster for this trip. Likewise, I am pleased to have a spare seat at home for times when we need to carry an extra child in the car.

I think this seat probably paid for itself (because we didn’t need to hire a booster at our holiday destination). Others have complained about the weak sewing on the straps (but ours seems fine after 10 days of man-handling so perhaps they have fixed it).

I bought two of these and my two boys love them. One of my boys is just moving from a big toddler seat to a booster seat and he has really enjoyed his Trunki. They are very good quality and we are taking them on holiday in the next few weeks. Very nicely finished, good quality, appear to be very sturdy and easy for little hands to use.

I bought these back in 2011 and my boys are still using them – they have been on holiday several times and they use them in the car every day – great value and really sturdy. They are still in mint condition. If you are going away for the weekend the kids can get all their clothes into them and then you have them at the other end if you are hiring a car. great idea well done Trunki

This product does exactly what it says it will do. It is a nice little backpack with the capacity to contain a few items your kid will need (bottle, teddy, sweets). It looks very attractive as a backpack and my 3yr old was immensely proud to wear it at the airport. As a booster seat it works perfectly. It is very easy to set up and it allows the child to see well from the car’s windows. While it is expensive as a booster seat, it is a very cost effective solution when travelling. The standard car rental firm will charge in the region of 3 a day for a child/booster seat to rent along with the car. If you are staying for a week or so, this means that this product will pay for itself and it is a saving on further trips. If you do not rent a car, but use a relative’s car this is a good solution, often necessary to drive legally with a child. The product is of good quality. Only problem is that if your kid is not used to booster seats, she may have trouble sleeping in an upright position. A headrest of some sort that can be packed inside the trunki is a good idea.

This is a great product for taking on holiday. We travel a few times a year and hire a car. each time we are charged approx 30-40 Euro to hire a car seat. Now my son can go in a booster this will save us lots of money each year. This is lightweight, easy to carry and you can fit toys/books,clothes in the compartment underneath. As the seat it hard on one side we put a portable dvd player in it and a DS for easy travel with my son.Once in the car, the seat belt slots in the sides easily and my son found it comfortable.
The only problem, as with all booster seats, is the child cannot fall asleep comfortably as there is no head support. Trunki do sell a head support cushion separately, a combination pack might be a good idea with a discount if bought together.
Lastly another suggestion is that when used as a backpack there are clips at the front as the weight of the item when packed pulls it down off a childs shoulders, if it had clips accross the chest like a backpack, a child could carry it more comfortably.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe was stuck recently as to what to do when we went away for a weekend break in Dubai as we knew the taxis wouldn’t have car seats. So we purchased this boostapak and played around with it before we left.

It was so easy to use, very foolproof. My daughter liked it although found it a little heavy (she is only 3 and 8 months). So we ended up carrying it mostly but it wasn’t uncomfortable, nor too silly looking for an adult to carry, and I am sure the older she gets she will end up carrying it. She did love it, she calls it her “cat” bag – I think because it has an almost cat-like presence with its ears!

We could fit in a reasonable amount of items, enough for a plane journey. This included a change of clothing, some crayons, colouring books, a magic drawing board, a brush and I am sure we could have fitted way more in including a drink and snacks, but we had those separate.

She felt very grown up sat in the back of the car with a grown up seat belt on.

I can see this being a great use and travel companion for many more years yet! Thank you Trunki for a great idea! Will definitely recommend to all my friends.
