Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a perfectly acceptable product for home use, but it’s nowhere near as good as the professional ones. I’m a bit disappointed that the price difference between this model and lower models advertised is so great: the performance of the cheaper models can’t be that different.

Excellent clippers but didn’t receive the nose clippers in the box so it was an incomplete purchase whether it’s Amazon to blame or Wahl I don’t know but I somehow expected better from both companies.
It was advertised as a kit with the Wahl ultimate hair clipper & nose clippe

Early days but appears to cut very well. Not sure why I need another nose trimmer though, would rather be able to purchase without the “free” stuff.

When I was a student, I had a flatmate who had a cheaper version of clippers like this because it was much cheaper than going to a barbers. Now I’m older, I know a few people who are thinning on top, so choose to clip their hair all over. Thankfully, I’ve not quite reached that stage myself, but I want to make the most of longer hair, while I still can. Consequently, I haven’t tried these for a ‘number 3 all over’ kind of haircut. Rather, I’ve been using them to trim round my sideburns and beard area. Nonetheless, I’m happy with the performance.

The clippers come with a large number of accessories, including guides for different lengths, a comb, and a separate device for ear and nose hair. Perhaps some prefer this to be separate though, personally, I would prefer a different ‘head’ or attachment to go on the main device. There’s really quite a lot of stuff, though there’s a handy (but not at all fancy) bag to keep it all together.

The clippers themselves charge from a regular plug socket, which surprised me (I assumed they would need a shaver socket). This means that I can’t charge them in the bathroom, but it’s not a problem to do it in the bedroom. They don’t need very long to charge or to be charged often — in fact, I’ve only just recharged for the first time, after around a month of use (every few days). There’s a numeric indicator on the clippers that gives an idea of how much charge is left, which is a neat feature, though I did find that they needed recharging sooner than I expected, when this was only down to 10-15 rather than all the way to zero.

The actual clipper blades can be removed completely, which is handy for cleaning. I assume that, in time, these will wear down, but they should be replaceable (if not cheap). The instructions recommend oiling them every time that they’re used, in order to reduce friction and preserve their life, so this is something I’ve been doing. A very small bottle of oil is supplied, which I’m still less than half way through, but larger ones are only 3 at present, so the ‘running costs’ do not seem too high, until the blades ultimately need replacing. The documentation doesn’t seem to say when that might be, but I guess this depends on how much and often you use them.

To be honest, the main thing I’d want to know about a product like this is that (with proper care) it will last a good long time. It’s too early for me to comment on this, since I’ve only been using them for about a month. Nonetheless, my first impressions are very favourable, so I’ll say 5* for now on the assumption that they’ll last as well as you’d expect from a reputable brand like Wahl. Should they pack in after a few more months, then I’ll come back and edit my review accordingly.

UPDATE: Having used the clippers recently, I was tapping hair out of them to clean them, and the cutting head fell off. This was a bit alarming, but apparently it just clips in place and I was easily able to re-attach the head by clipping it back in place. However this does fit in with my original assessment that these clippers *are* a bit on the cheap and nasty side. That said, battery life remains excellent, and they cut pretty well. The convenience of cordless clippers is a real boon to me as an awkward amateur clipper.

    ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I was a bit snooty with this when I first got it. It feels a bit cheap and nasty, to be honest. It seemed like there was an awful lot of extras and novelty add-ons in the set. The wide range of assorted combs are welcome, though they slide on the front of the blades, rather than clip on, as is more usual. However the nose/ear hair trimmer seemed like an afterthought (more on that later), and the hairdressing bib seemed like a bit of a novelty. The carry-case is just the right size and everything fits back in after use without a fight.

The clipper blades are nicely machined and cut well. They don’t adjust, which is a bit of a surprise as it’s a fairly standard feature on clippers, but in use it hasn’t been a problem. There’s a handy LCD battery life indicator on the front of the clipper, and after three haircuts now, the battery has only gone down by one bar. Which is pretty impressive. The switch on my example lacks a positive feel, and I find I need to press it twice to switch the clippers on. However it cuts hair pretty well, and doesn’t snag or tug hairs as you clip. It’s actually pretty good, and being cordless, it’s super-convenient. I have a couple of other high-quality clippers, both mains powered, and these cordless ones are my new favourite to use as they’re so convenient. The bib is useful and once I realised that you just let it hang, and don’t need to have it tight round your “customer’s” neck, it’s been very useful. A little longer velcro fixing would be nice, but in use it’s fine. I really like the clipper!

The battery-powered nose hair trimmer, not so much. It cut my nose a little and it was quite sore/irritating for a while. I thought I was using it correctly, but it turns out gauging distances of things you stick up your nose requires some skill, and until you have the knack, you can shave skin off the inside of your nose. Frankly, I’m not prepared to give it a second chance, and it’s not the sort of job I want to delegate, so I’ll pass on trimming my nose hair for now. (Which reminds me, I’ll get my batteries back out of it while I think about it.)

So all in all, it’s a mixed bag. The clipper is pretty good, despite feeling a little on the cheap side. It cuts well and is quiet in use. The nose-hair trimmer is less of a success for me, but possibly in the right hands might prove very useful. The extras in the kit are otherwise useful and of good quality. The only problem is, I’ve got a nagging doubt that this clipper won’t have a very long life, it feels cheap, despite the hefty price tag. But so far, it’s worked pretty well. Yet despite liking it, I can’t help but feel this is likely to turn out not to be good value in the long term, buit time will tell.
I’ll update my review after a few months with good or bad news, as appropriate.

Being of the age where hair is thinning out, I object to paying a barber to keep what is left in check.

I have always used Wahl clippers and have a mains set that have lasted years. While I still use them, these cordless ones mean I’m free to have a quick tidy up outdoors without cuttings getting everywhere. A full charge easily removes 2 weeks growth and the end result is, with a little practice, neat and tidy with just the odd rogue hair.

The charging level meter means you’ll not run out of juice halfway through a trim, resulting in either giving to stay home to avoid ridicule or wearing a hat. 10 minutes charge will be enough for most home users.

The clippers come with a selection of comb lengths, a pair of scissors, oil and cleaning brush, all in a handy zip pouch for travelling or storage.

I’ve had Wahl clippers before and always found them very effective. There are basic instructions (illustrations actually) but there is nothing difficult here. The charging was quite quick with these clippers unlike some I’ve had and you can see an actual percentage which I like. These clippers come with a three year warranty. There are 8 combs giving cutting lengths from .08 (without a comb) to 25mm. Wahl clippers seem to come with individual combs rather than adjustable ones. I like the idea of less combs but I’ve often found that approach less easy to use than individual ones so I’m happy with this. There are also scissors, comb, oil, a cape and a cleaning brush provided in the travel case.

In use there is a very good feel to these clippers. The combs slide on just fine. I got a good cut from these – probably better than any previous clippers I’ve had including previous Wahl ones. I do like the fact that the blades comb off with this model. It was easy to do and allows easy rinsing/cleaning of the blades. You get 100 minutes cutting on a full charge so they’d be fine for holiday use/travelling. I do wish that Wahl would look at USB charging as other suppliers are – it would be easier to take less chargers on longer journeys.

In the end there is much to like about these excellent clippers. A small point but I do like the case – not only for travel but for everyday use as well. However fundamentally I had the best cut from these clippers that I’ve had in maybe 15 years of using such items to cut my hair. Throw in a 5 year guarantee and I would spend my money on this level of clipper from Wahl when I need to replace these but I’m guessing I’ll be using them for some time to come.

This is a complete hair clipping system which comes with its own zipped bag. It includes the clipper, scissors, comb, oil, cleaning brush and a set of clipper combs, cape and nose and ear trimmer. The clipper has an LED light to indicate when it needs charging ,it is light and comfortable to hold, and is not to noisy. The cut is precise and even and does not leave loads of stragglers as some cutters do. I went over my husbands hair twice and found no odd hairs that had been missed. I usually have to go over it several times. It will qiuick charge for a minute if you do find a missed bit or full charge will last for 100 minutes.Being cordless is an advantage as you have no dangling cords although it can be used while plugged into the mains personally you cant beat cordless. There is no loss in performance being cordless it as powerful as any other clipper I have used. It is very light in the hand, slim and smooth and very nice to hold when cutting. To keepthe trimmer in tip top condition I have found that cleaning and oiling after each use is a must. This is a great set and speaking as an ex hairdresser ( for many years ) I can fully recommend this set.

    Wahl Hairclippers.
Over many years I’ve had a variety of clippers some better than others.
I have used Wahl machines before but not cordless ones. I used this one on myself and others in the family. I can say that I’m very pleased with both the machine and results. The kit come in its own bag so no excuse to lose anything, zip closure. Now I’ll need to give you some manufacturers bumph re how long it lasts etc. It uses Lithium power which is rechargeable, you get a 100 minutes from 5 hours charge and for a quick recharge 1 minute will give you 3 minutes run time. I have no reason to not agree with that, my last clippers at times seemed to runout of battery very quickly and had the embarresment of having short hair on one side only. Family did laugh…
The switch I really like as it feels positive also give you run time left. Comes with a bunch of clip on combs at different heights. The blades look and feel very good quality and should give no problems, easy to take excess hair off. In the bag there 8 different combs, light weight scissors, comb, cleaning brush and oil.
The bonus to this is this kit comes with an ear/nose trimmer which can be used wet or dry, this is battery powered. (Battery supplied) easy to use. To me the fact it’s cordless is the best bit as no chance of getting tangled up and allows you to walk around. Good product.

I’ve been Wahl-ed ever since I was a kid a few decades ago; you saw them in the barber’s and in the catalogues. While the cheap-end of their products can be hit and miss there’s no problem with their high-end products like this.

It’s light, looks sleek and holds a charge between shaves. The LCD time indicator is also a boon as it prevents bemusement at what the last battery bar means as you race to groom yourself. There was 60mins already ready before charging (max 100). And the quality of the shaving is great (I tried a #1 cut on my brother, was very smooth).

The well-presented set includes scissors, combs, a case and even a cape!

The nose-trimmer is good as well (though I prefer non-rotating blade versions to avoid ARGHHHing on low battery) and has a unique spotlight feature to highlight where those ‘flies legs’ are.

Sure it’s not cheap but you won’t complain.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve been on the look out for an all in one pair of clippers since I’ve been having thoughts of doing my own hair. I regularly need to touch things up here and there in between haircuts too as well as trimming nose and ear hair which I suddenly find myself developing.

This pair of clippers has it all! It comes complete with 8 attachments of differing lengths along with a nasal hair trimmer which is something I’ve been thinking of getting for some time. It also comes with scissors, a comb, blade oil and a cleaning brush, all can be kept in the convenient storage pouch which is included.

The beauty of these clippers is that they can be used with or without a cord. Charge it up and it’ll last around an hour and 40 minutes, but if you’re low on battery you can still plug in and use with the cord. It also has a quick charge so if you’re in a pinch then you can charge it for 1 minute to give you 3 minutes of usage, ideal if you’re dashing out and find that there’s no charge left.

So far I’ve only used the clippers for trimming my sides and doing the obligatory nasal hair and it does the job as expected. Nothing more, nothing less. A solid and reliable pair of clippers from my early experience. I’ve not long had a haircut but maybe I’ll get someone to give me a going over with this when I’m next due in a month or so.

I’m somebody who doesn’t have much hair, so for some years now have cut my own hair. For most of that time I’ve used Wahl clippers, as I’ve always found them to be top quality – well built, good at clipping, and really I quite honestly don’t see why anybody would buy any other make.

These ultimate clippers are a departure from the ones I have used previously, in that they are cordless (although they can be used with with the mains cord attached). Pleasingly, these came part-charged (65%), and so were ready to use straight away. The blurb promises that a five hour charge will give 100 minutes of clipping time, and that a five minute quick charge will give three minutes of clipping time, which is good. There are blue lighted bars which indicate the charge level – which are irrelevant really, as there’s also a digital display which gives the percentage charge remaining. This is very useful, as you don’t want to run out of power mid-cut if you haven’t got the mains/charging cable around!

I was concerned that the clippers wouldn’t be as powerful if used cordless, but there seems to be no loss of power at all when using them. The cutting is as effective as I would expect from Wahl clippers – that is, very effective indeed. My hair was slightly longer than normal when I used these for the first time, but they handled it with ease, returning me to my normal grade-2 all-over cut in about five minutes. For reference, the clippers come with some very sturdy guide combs (grade 1 to grade 8), a barber’s cape (in a previous Wahl review I said this wasn’t useful, but it is!), some scissors and a carry case into which everything (just about) fits.

After first use, I must say that I am very impressed with these. There’s none of the problem you have with cheaper less well-made clippers whereby it feels like your hair is being pulled out by its roots; also, the clippers feel very well-built and as if they’ll last forever. It’s no wonder that professional barbers seem to favour Wahl clippers; they really are very good indeed. HIghly recommended, and I look forward to years of use from these ones.

I have the good fortune to be married to an extremely talented lady who has kept my hair trim and tidy at home for several years. During this time she has used various Wahl clippers and has high praise for all of them. I also love them for making beard trimming easy. They not only work smoothly, painlessly and efficiently, but all look good and, with basic care, will last indefinitely. This latest offering from Wahl is one of the best yet. It really is the complete portable package. It is beautiful in appearance and fits nice and is light in the hand. It operates cordlessly on battery power. The Lithium Ion battery will give you over and hour and a half usage from a full charge and can be topped up quickly when low to give a quick trim. A bright blue digital display indicates the remaining battery power. It will also operate while charging with the adapter plugged into the mains with no difference in cutting power. As one has grown to expect from Wahl, it comes with a full range of accessories. Among other things, you get 8 different sized comb attachments, scissors, comb, cleaning oil and a brush that can all be contained in a classy black, zip fastened carrying and storage case. It even comes with a cape to keep the cut hairs off your clothing. And, as an additional bonus, a separate small battery operated trimmer for nasal and ear hair is also included. A great value package for trimming hair.

These wahl clippers offer all you could want from hair clippers within your own home. They come with a comprehensive range of kit – 8 attachment combs in different lengths, spotlight nasal/ear hair trimmer, scissors, a barbers comb, cape, transformer, blade oil and cleaning brush. I’ve never had clippers accompanied by so many useful extras. They are quick to charge and simple and easy to use, producing a good cut. Recomended.

With the popularity of clipper based cuts for men (really not difficult if you are balding and just need an all over crop) and plenty of instructional videos available that show how to use clippers with scissors to get a blended finish between top and sides, more and more men are forsaking a trip to the barbers in favour of a home cut. Whilst this takes a little bravery the first time, it saves time and money in the long run. But you do need to get some decent quality clippers, and it is probably worth investing a little more, given that you will be in profit after a few home haircuts, and decent ones will last a long while.

These are really great clippers, and the inclusion of the Spotlight Trimmer, Storage Pouch, Scissors and Cape in the pouch to keep them all in make this an excellent choice. In fact these clippers are at a professional level (the rest of the kit is not) and whilst I presume the majority making the purchase will be for domestic use, I can see that these would appeal to professionals as well (but the five year warranty only applies to domestic use).

Wahl are well known in this area of products, for both corded and battery operated clippers. These can be used either way, but with the lithium battery they really do set a very high standard for capacity, and holding their charge if you only use them occasionally. The battery left indicator will stop you being caught out, as will the quick charge which gives 3 minutes of use for 1 minute of charge. In use they feel good, well balanced and quietly powerful. With regular oiling and cleaning these should give many years of use.

Overall then, whilst these are relatively expensive, the clippers are of high quality and when the whole set is considered I think they are good value. Buy with confidence.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis product seems to be something of an odd mixture; the main item is a solid, elegant, well-designed clipper, the clipper head being prominently emblazoned “Made in Germany” (being the most prominent emblazonment to be found anywhere in the whole kit and caboodle), whereas the motor base is said, in tiny, almost unreadable lettering, to be “manufactured in Europe”, with a Hungarian address attached. Irrespective of origin, it has the look, feel and function of a quality item.

The rest of the contents, by comparison, have anything but a quality feel, including the so-called “spotlight trimmer” (an efficient nose and ear trimmer really), and seem to be made in China. The supposed integrated spotlight, used in daylight, had no effect; although doubtless useful if one does normally, rather riskily, trim one’s nose and ear hair in the dark

Used without the snug-fitting attachments, the main trimmer leaves what I believe is nowadays considered to be a fetching stubble; the eight attachments enable one to clip facial or cranial hair (or, indeed, any other body hair) to a precise, predetermined length; and the 9mm attachment made a very neat and swift job of my small beard, which, being of curly, springy nature, necessitated some tidying with the conveniently supplied, but extraordinarily cheap and nasty, Chinese scissors.

Although it it appears identical to the implements you will find at your hairdresser’s, the instructions declare it to be entirely for domestic use, and threaten cancellation of the five-year guarantee if “used in a professional environment”. (This leads me to conclude that it’s costing less than they would charge a professional user for a similar kit; and that perhaps they fear that its long-term reliability might be in question.)

Leaving aside its usefulness for the bearded ones, if you fancy your chances at trimming your partner’s hair without risking divorce, or your children’s without their running away from home, this would be a splendid kit for the job. But I note that many cheaper competing alternatives are available (from 10 upwards !), including plenty from Wahl themselves. So — as always — careful shopping around is obligatory to make sure you get exactly what you want plus the best value for money.

Five stars for the job it does, without a doubt; but I think the cheap quality of the included minor extras lets it down badly and was a pretty unnecessary and counter-productive saving (you wouldn’t want your friends to see those scissors).

I left the clippers charging over night so not sure how long a charge takes. The clippers feel nice in the hand, are easy to use and have a clear charge indicator. I’ve used them for a trim this morning they have used very little charge.

Negative things – This clippers doesn’t have a slide on the blade so you aren’t able to do half grades. The plate is also bigger than a normal clippers meaning you can’t use normal guards, just the slide on ones that come with it.

Overall a great clippers, just a shame they’ve broken with tradition and changed the guards from every other Wahl clippers and lost the slider.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersApologies to any men wanting a male-grooming review, because this is a female using it to trim mine and my daughter’s hairline at the neck.
We both have sculpted very short hair styles that go up into the hairline and hence need the hairline trimming every few weeks.
    So here’s my review…
A nice zip-around storage case which has handy elasticated pockets inside the top half for scissors and comb(both included) and also for the blade oil and cleaning brush (also included). The personal trimmer can also be slotted into these pockets.
There is also one large elasticated pocket inside the base of the case for the trimmer itself.
    Also included is the charger/mains adaptor, 8 comb attachments ranging from a No.8; 25mm, to a No.1; 3mm, and a handy cape!
Can be used with the mains or cordless, whichever you prefer. Mine arrived already 3/4 charged and when you switch it on a blue LED display gives you a battery level indicator via vertical bars and also a numerical countdown so you know exactly how much power is left in it.
We found it really easy to use, not overly noisy, it doesn’t vibrate in your hand particularly so it’s easy to control and it fits comfortably in your hand with the weight in the base.
A yellow card in the pack draws your attention to the fact that the blades must be kept clean and oiled, a diagram shows you the 5 specific points that must be oiled. Not sure how long the little bottle of oil included in the set will last, or how often I’m supposed to oil it actually, but there is a note on the card of a phone number you can ring direct to purchase a 118ml bottle of the oil.
A quick search on Amazon and you can buy the oil there too, on its own or together with a bottle of hygiene spray?
In the region of 3 so not gonna break the bank!
So on the basis, of ease of use, excellent results, stylish presentation and storage case, great design features,
    -a definite 5-stars, highly recommended.
If anyone knows how often I need to oil it, please add a comment, thanks

5.0 out of 5 stars Really great set, and so easy to use
