My project Nextcloud on RISCV starts today ….

Nice board for experimenting with RISCV; note that m.2 connector allows NVMe drives to attach but has only 1 lane of PCIe 2.0. Now shipping rev 1.3b; various online reviews citing difficulties and the need to update the firmware have been addressed. Note that the default DIP switch settings will NOT work for eMMC or micro-SD booting. I have used both NVMe devices as root (boot not supported yet for NVMe), as well as using a m.2 to PCIe adapter to attach expansion cards. Boots Debian pre-built images and I had no issues building my own Gentoo images. The only draw back is performance – set your expectations appropriately. Current GeekBench scores are 78 for single core and 276 for multicore… kind of disappointing compared to the RockChip ARM offerings and a bit slower than a Raspberry Pi 4. Note also that the RISCV ISA defines LOTS of optional features… things like bi-endian support are optional and not implemented on the JH7110.
