I bought this thinking it would be plug and play, with just a quick install in device manager, but after installing it i constantly had ‘no signal’ on my monitor.

At first i thought i didn’t insert my GPU back correctly (had to remove it to install the SSD), but after swapping my HDMI input for a display port input, i was able to see the bios when i booted up

What i saw there, was the motherboard not recognising any SATA drive inputs, and clicking boot options said there was no boot drive available

Looking online only brought up results of damaged drives and replacing them, so i decided to read the manual, and within minutes i saw the solution.

If you are using this as a secondary drive, you may not be getting past the bios screen because you have your main 1/2 drives in SATA 5 & 6 ports, which conflict with the M.2 port.
After swapping to SATA 3 & 4 ports for my C and Z drives, my issue was fixed

Since then, i’ve been transferring games and downloading games to this SSD and testing games with it and it’s been working fantastic!

Took a bit of working to get it going, but it was worth it!

Exactly as you’d expect. Easy to install, extremely fast and a huge amount of storage. I previously had a 1TB WD Black SN750 and a 1TB SATA drive that I replaced with this. Much better pricing and hard not to justify if you need it!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this after accidentally purchasing the wrong type of SSD. This was a breeze to install (although that is mostly down to the mother board) and works perfectly. The boot/shut down and all other load times are blindingly fast for someone who is used to HDD speeds. Good entry point and definitely worth the money.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersLately, my normal ps5 storage memory has ran out because of all the CoD updates. I had to delete a few games & apps to make space. I watched a YouTube video & came from a the link there to get this thing. 1TB is enough for me to maintain & have enough space overtime since I do not play many other different games.
I watched few YouTube videos on how to install this etc. Was nervous at first, but it also gave me the perfect opportunity to clean the fan also after 2 years of having the console.
I did not read the reviews before I got this, but reading other people’s reviews now I’m glad I got this. This my first time getting something like this. It’s actually more expensive than when a new game comes out. But I’m happy I have more storage to keep some games installed whenever I feel like I want to play e.g. Gta5. Definitely worth getting.
When it comes to speed & performance, for it feels normal to me. Based on the 5 star reviews, those guys seem to know more differences of this thing than other ones.

Managed to get this at a great price in the recent sale on Amazon. The SSD is really fast and was so easy to install though do make sure that you have the correct size screwdriver before you start. The installation only takes around five minutes and there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube if you are not sure about how to fit the SSD.
This is a quality upgrade, well built and great value.

Nvme drives are typically easy to install and this one was no different. In terms of performance, this drive does not disappoint. The read and write speeds are blazing fast providing an instant boot time, rapid file transfer and quick download speeds. The heatsink model definitely does improve the temperature quality even during heavy usage of the device averaging around 42-47C and highest I’ve seen it is 52C. Overall, a real game changer and one of the best Nvme drives currently in the marke

bought this a few months ago but gave it time to run in the system. this m.2 drive is really good for the price I got it at, giving you 2TB storage and really fast R/W speeds, you only really see more storage = less R/W speeds so I’d highly recommend this part for new or existing pc builds

These are just great drives. I had a previous one with my OS on and this was to be a Steam Library drive, and it’s just so fast and convenient.

Sony allow for user installation, so no need to dismantle the hardware (beyond the cosmetics and some very simple screws)
prefect product, no issues with running games from this, plenty of storage coupled with the stock SSD installed (works in tandem)

I would consider this an essential purchase for PS5 owners, especially if you have PS+ and a library of games that only get bigger!

i bought a new PC and for the backup storage i had bought a SATA drive. they say these last longer and if it crashes you can maybe save the stuff on there. and these new drives maybe not so easy. (I’m no expert that’s what i was told)
although it was my back up drive i still used it daily, so i needed more speed because i had big files.

I bought this for a new self-build computer and I was not disappointed. The drive is incredibly fast. previouosly on a mechanical hard drive it would take me 2.5 to 3 minutes to clone a virtual computer. Now with two of these WD M.2 drives in the time is down to 15 seconds. These drives are incredibly quick.

Very easy to install (hardest bit was taking the cover off the playstation!). Plenty of storage now and seamless to read and load games (transferred about 60gb of game data to it after formatting and it took about 8 mins). Don’t bother with the dedicated playstation drive (about 25-30 more expensive) as this drive prompts you to format it as soon as you turn the console on and does it all for you.

I recently transformed my gaming experience with the WD_Black SN850X 1TB M.2 SSD, and I couldn’t be more delighted with the results. The icing on the cake? I managed to grab it for just 73.97 on sale! Let me share why this deal felt like a true steal:

Reliability: WD_Black’s renowned reliability shines through in this SSD. It’s designed to withstand the long haul, granting me complete peace of mind about the security of my data.

Easy to install in the PS5 following a YouTube “How-to”. Took less than 5 mins. PS5 automatically formats within a minute. Added 1TB storage for games to the existing 680GB of usable space. Games can be played directly from the drive. Or can be moved onto console storage, which typically transfers a 50GB game in around 30 seconds. I have it set to automatically download ps5 titles to the console storage and ps4 to M2. All good, no problems or crashes.

Installation was very easy, there is an official guide that walks you through it on Sony’s website, and there’s loads of videos on youtube that show you how to do it in about 5 minutes with a screwdriver.
The performance so far has been great, with no noticeable lagging when I’m playing games. The drive is very high performance so it can easily keep up with the requirements of current games.

When this first came on sale it was over 800. Now Amazon have it on offer for 265. I always check Amazon first me for everything and 9.9 times outta 10 they are cheaper than everyone out there. Excellent NVME drive. Brought the 2TB version with hear sink. The PCI 4 drives are offering good value for money at the moment (presumably because the PCI 5 drives are coming onto the market). Only thing I didn’t like with this drive is it runs a lot hotter than my old Samsung 970 EVO plus. If I had the choice I would have gone for the Samsung 990 pro as its slightly faster and runs cooler. However as usual Samsung are asking a premium for this drive and how can they justify it being 65 more expensive than this drive with a heat sink when the gain are so marginal. Yes I know the prices are fluctuating a lot so it may not be that much difference when you read this review.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWD_Black SN850X 2TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 is a must have if you have a PS5 because the storage capacity is so limited on purchase of a new playstation 5 console. This I feel is failed to be mentioned in any advertisement of this console which I feel really should be mentioned as the expansion SSD is an absolute must from the get go.

Even if you have no technical experience you will be able to install this with 5 minutes including the actual setup of the software updates and storage option for new games and apps.
There are more than plenty of you tube how to videos to help you though the included instruction information with this purchase is simple to follow.

Why a USB SSD cannot be used as for this task as it was on the PS4 is beyond me? USB SSD can only be used for storage only and not able to plug and play sadly but the WD 2TB is an acceptable option even if a little expensive it is totally worth it.
Maybe wait for Amzon to have a sale before buying this if your financial situation is like many this day and age a bit restricted for disposable funds.

I have not noticed any difference in gaming from the expansion drive than from the original drive that Sony has installed from the factory.

Overall verdict: 100% needed on every PS5 Consoles so definitely buy an expansion SSD even a 1TB will be plenty to save and install quite a few games.

Excellent product, runs perfectly and excellent customer service from Amazon.

The only issue was that I had to contact customer service to ask for a replacement. When I received the item through the post for the first time, the packaging was intact, but the seal was damaged and had been opened. Upon inspecting the contents, I discovered that the SSD was missing. Thankfully, everything has been resolved now. It’s just quite baffling to me, as I’ve never experienced something like this before.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersSo, earlier I bought a 4TB NVME from Crucial , the P3. ALL the cheaper NVME’s that DONT have DRAM as is the case with the P3, will give painfully slow write speeds after you fill up the first half of the drive.

Once I started filling the latter half of the P3 I was getting between 80-90MB/S which is about 35% LESS than I get with my old Toshiba tradition HD ….it was truly woeful 🙁
    I had to return it.
But lets not forget it’s half the price, give or take, of this WD NVME.

So I returned the P3 and bought this WD.
    It’s a lot faster thank God !
I moved my Steam library, 1TB worth, from my old SSD and was getting a good 500MB/s average write speed.
The temps, on a hot day with the sun burning through the window onto my PC, never got over 64C which I think is not bad. I used the heatsink supplied with my mobo so nothing fancy.

So you pays your money and get your choice !

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent .... Gaming use

Placed into a PS5 to expand the capacity, the speed of the drive was just below the max speed thats advertised i personally thought it would be slower to be honest however, it gets the job done.
The NVME was chunky thanks to the heatsink which is what i was after considering how hot these sticks do get and as i was placing this inside a compartment just for peace of mind i wanted to disperse the heat better which this personally does well.
Ive got one of these in my desktop which has been used for a couple of years without issue so im hoping for the same.

Took literally 2- 3 mins to transfer 150GB file over to the stick.

Overall if your looking to upgrade the storage on a system or PS5 look no further. personally would recommend the heatsink version had no issues with the 2 Ive purchased now and if my memory serves me well (which in some cases doesn’t) i believe this does come with a 5 year warranty with WD

They say that fast drives make no real difference to games and you can’t tell the difference between an M.2 and a SATA SSD but I think they are only focusing on loading times. I found that I was just over the VRAM capacity of my graphics card (10GB RX6700) when playing Far Cry New Dawn and I could see the flowers drawing in as I moved about as it had to load as it went. I moved the game to this drive out of curiosity and it’s so fast that I cannot see the draw in. To all intents and purposes it functions as additional VRAM. I know this won’t be the case on all games or maybe on newer games with larger textures but it shows how fast this drive is and that faster can be worth it and that you can tell. 100% recommend as a game drive

I used the ssd to upgrade the C drive on my 9th gen Dell Precision laptop from a 2Tb Samsung 970 Evo Plus. This was a high performing ssd and I was mainly looking for the extra storage capacity with no worse performance than I had. I wasn’t sure if the ssd would run at the Dell’s full speed (connected to a pcie3 m2 slot) as its a pcie4 drive, though it should effectively saturate the pcie3 data bus. I was delighted with the increase in performance. Most notably snapping windows open or jumping between apps is definitely improved (from its excellent starting point).
    Very highly recommended.
Photo shows benchmarked performance, write speeds hold up very well indeed, some serious optimisation of writes is going on here.

The Western Digital Black SN850X is everything that you would expect from this manufacturer.
The advertisements speak highly of the product and reading the reviews other purchasers gave it five stars.
I can only agree. Obviously, after reading the reviews of similar products this WD850X rated highly and I decided on this purchase. I was impressed. The packaging was substantial, it had to be as it came from Italy apparently, Goodness knows why? Reading the fitting instructions and a quick look at You tube gave me the courage to dismantle my new PS5..What a piece of cake it was, lid off, one screw removed and the new memory slotted in, reverse to secure the PS5 and that was it.
PS5 switched on, the memory was read straight away, reformatted it and gave me the speed of 6750mbs.
I transferred 75% of the games already on the hard drive of the PS5, this freed up space.
Crunch time now as I tested the speed of the reorganised games. I was impressed with the loading time of the PS5, it was a lot faster, the games ran noticeably quicker with the load times being so fast, it was all what the previous reviewers said it was.
After running it now for a few hours I can only say it is a superb bit of memory for the price.
Shop around and buy one. 10/10 and a 100% recommendation from me. 5 year warranty as well. So far I cannot fault it. DB

Sometimes after it times out and restarts a few times it just stops being recognised, other times it detects fine and boots and runs great for a couple of days then back to square 1. The annoying thing is I’m not even using it for a boot drive, just storage I can dump the games I play on. I’ll bear with it for now because when it’s good, it’s damn good, but I’m keeping an eye open for decent deals on a decent samsung on sabrent drive.

I put one of these in a Dell XPS laptop that already ran on an NVME naturally, but with this one installed it has a max read/write around 3 times the original SSDs speed.

It should be noted that when these are working intensely that they run very hot, boiling and hard to touch for more than a second. So in case you assumed drives with non moving parts were cool (or read some of the answers to questions on the Amazon product page that said they produced hardly any heat), it’s absolutely not the case that these run cool.

Also note that there are chips on both sides that are somewhat prominent, so for installing in a very thin laptop it’s a tight fit. However it worked and it seems to be running without any issue.

Bought this to replace the SSD in my Lenovo Neo 50s, which to be fair is a pretty good drive, but this is the dogs and bees…its quick, runs a Gen 4 speed in my system, everything is almost instant, and it looks pretty good too, though I cant actually see it in my case (Im not actually bothered about it though) so once downloaded the WD Dashboard I turned off the LED…

The heatsink is a nice touch, but may be overkill for some, glad I got one, but prolly don’t need it, and the devices without the HS will work just as well for most folks. Mine is averaging about 30c so pretty good.

Easy to fit, depending on your case/build…some USFF/CFF/SFF may be a bit more tricky, just do it in the light and you’ll be ok…

Overall, great speeds, rock solid perfomance, top notch quality, good wear levels and warranty. and looks good..Enjoy it…
