Forceful jet of air which is great for clearing leaves into a corner for collectio
This blower really works well on wet or dry leaves. I had previously bought a (different brand of) rechargeable blower, which didn’t do the job and had too short an operating time on a single charge – it was returned and I decided on the Worx corded blower. I am very pleased with my purchase and can thoroughly recommend the product.
Light, very powerful blower, and very controllable blowing speed, very good value for money, very easy to use, seems to be tough, lead long enough for my small garden, but extension would be needed for big applications. perfect for my requirement to clear pine needles, hence my manual sweep-up is not a problem. Dealing with big leaves is beyond my experiences, but I’ve heard that devices that include suction tend to block quite easily. My choice of powerful blow-only was good for my application.
Great value and very powerful blower, a bit heavy could do with a strap but perfect for what o was wanting it for.
Great blower, cleared leaves & acorns off the lawn no problems. Has higher setting for increased blow speed. Easy to set up, not too heavy to hold either. Very happy with purchase.
I bought this having looked at various Top 10 product reviews on line and I am not disappointed. I wanted a blower only i.e. no suction, and this is extremely powerful and I did not want rechargeable with all the associated problems of short charge & battery life etc., It was easily assembled in seconds and the variable motor speed works very well. Gathering leaves is a bit like gathering sheep i.e. they never go where you want them to go, but the variable speed helps enormously in this regard. The cable length is good and frankly I don’t understand some of the other comments about the clip onto the main body (you would have to drop the whole thing on the deck to break it) or the nonsense about not realising the nozzle extension is packed inside the larger nozzle (I can’t understand how you wouldn’t see that when you clip it to the main body as it’s wrapped in a plastic bag). I haven’t used it for drying the car yet but it certainly won’t lack for power. German made, 3 year warranty (when registered on line) and amazing value for the price.
This is a garden blower, it doesn’t suck, it just blows, and blowing is what it does very well indeed.
Starting with assembly.
This will take you around five minutes if you don’t read the instructions or two minutes if you do.
To explain, you open the box, take the cable ties off the cable, attach the big tube onto the blower and switch on using the variable speed control. Virtually no blowing power….how disappointing. Must have done something wrong, start again, this time reading the instructions. Ah….”remove the small section of pipe that is in the large section of pipe”…oops! Hence the five minutes if you don’t read the instructions and only two if you do.
Variable speed.
So now you switch it on with both sections of tube attached, rotate the variable speed to full and nearly get knocked off your feet…it is wonderfully powerful with a 2500 watt motor.
The variable speed is so useful for gently wafting leaves away from gravel and then full blast to send them flying away. One strange sensation…when you point the blower at the ground it feels like the cable has snagged on something as the push from the blower is so great.
Cable.
Talking of cable you get a really generous 12 metres, which is perfect for my size of the garden when plugged into an outlet halfway down the garden.
Weight.
The blower is quite light compared to my electric vac/ blower and super light compared to the petrol version vac I had.
Balance.
The machine is nicely balanced and easy to move in different directions, and with a little practice you can round up leaves very neatly.
Price.
Looking at other machines this is twice the price, but I would say worth every penny.
Likes.
All of the above.
Dislikes.
To be honest nothing at all.
A highly recommended purchase.
I have a really large garden and had had enough of blistered hands from repeated 2 hour long leaf raking sessions every Autumn. I resolved that 2020 would not be like previous years.
Looking at leaf blowers/mulchers I initially decided that the variants that blow leaves plus suck and mulch into a bag would be best.
The best reviewed of these appeared to be a Hyundai model, but looking closely at the more realistic reviews, there were just too many that have the machine an awful score based upon clogging and inability to cope with the suck/mulching feature, plus complaining of very difficult maneuverability given it needs to be pushed around on wheels.
This lot led me to think things through a little… How much harder would it be to simply buy a very good blower only and blow into piles that could quickly be scooped up and binned, compared to a machine that vaccums and mulches?
Reviews stating bag disconnection and tearing, failure to suck up damp leaves, weak blowing strength, plus endless machine clogging issues finally convinced me that given all of this, these machines could not be easier than a very good and powerful blower.
I ultimately came to the conclusion the more complex 3 in 1 machines were likely to be more hassle, more unwieldy & have more to go wrong for no clear benefit.
As ever I researched the available leaf blowers for weeks (literally) as wanted to buy once and buy well.
Petrol blowers were both out of my price range and really didnt appeal in terms of outgoing maintenance costs, and so I opted to stick with an electric variant.
The main clear issue with a hard wired electric blowers is if course the trailing lead.. I reasoned that despite this liable to being a bit of a pain moving around the garden with an extension (as required), the rechargeable wire free variants were both far too expensive, lacked the fully charged use time for anything other than a small garden and were obviously unable to create such a really strong blow force likely to shift matted and damp leaves.
Despite the pain of a cable at least a decent and powerful mains variant would ultimately get the job done…
I ended up looking at only two models that I believed I could have any faith in, the first being the most powerful out there (on paper at least) Netta mains hand held 3000w blower.
Reading those reviews there was the odd dissatisfied buyer reporting sudden failure early into ownership. Further to that, the Netta product only gives 1 year of warranty and I reasoned that given those reviews I could be just using this for two months of the year in Autumn only to find it failing out of warranty the following Autumn..
Not a fab prospect… 🙁
I then came across this Worx variant that at 2500w appeared less powerful, but the reviews pretty much all stating resounding confidence in it’s all round ability, but also hardly any reports of faults or failures.
The fact also that it has a 2 year warranty (that becomes 3 years once you register it with Worx online) pushed me to take the plunge despite it being 50, which was 15 more than the Netta blower.
So what’s it like…?
Yes.. the lead is a pain in the bum, but the job gets done down to the very powerful blowing action that shifts even thick, wet & matted leaves.
The rotational variable power switch really does help control.
In short.. it’s well up to any job…
The negatives?
Once you assemble the 2 section suction piping out of the box, its permanent. The assembled piping can be removed from the actual machine, but the one side clip is weak and broke very quickly. The other side clips onto the machine base, and does seem strong enough to keep the pipe affixed without leaks, but there is a small gap the other side due to this broken lug that means it no longer secures completely. This can be easily sorted permanently with Araldite or heavy duty tape, and so I can’t be bothered to return it as it’s only a niggle that doesnt affect its excellent working ability. Worx would however do well to address this weakness..
The other issue is that I am quite a strong bloke, but the machine does get very heavy and tiresome on the body given the blowing force and weight over time.
A shoulder strap (or at least lugs to attach a bit of rope or strap to) would have been fantastic.
I have tied a piece of rope to the handle and looped the other end over the blowing pipe, but that keeps coming off… Without modifying the machine in some way, there is really no easy way to do this.. Even some moulded lugs to attach a home made strap would have been something here (even if no strap was actually included).. Not an expensive mod for Worx, to be honest…
Other than that, I really did do my homework on this one as I’m not too keen on wasting the readies….
This is defo the one to buy.
Update 12/11/20. Leaves almost down from the trees completely, 6 hard stuffed wheelie bins later after clearing a leaf covered 1/2 acre garden 3 times = work time halved or more, no raking blisters plus the entire operation feeling a complete doddle for a change & the blower working perfectly nearly at the end of its first season of use.
Well chuffed and massively worth every penny 🙂
Bought this blower primarly to stay on top of a lot of autumn leaves accumulating on our tree-lined driveway. In summary it’s really very good if you want a powerful leaf BLOWER and so can avoid the complexity and hassle of converting to a vacuum function.

Powerful: 2500W is 3.4HP so the blower as powerful as petrol blowers without the hassle.
Light & simple: it’s a tube with an electric motor and fan inside it, so about as light and simple as possible. There’s no complicated arrangement of how you switch the thing around to turn it into a vacuum, and the fan doesn’t have to double as a shredder, so the whole thing is optimized as a blower. For me the ‘jet thrust’ from the maximum speed setting is more significant in requiring a good grip of the blower than its weight.
Variable speed: I’m not 100% convinced, but being able to reduce the blower speed for gravel areas near the drive does avoid small stones ricocheting around the drive. The alternative is to point the blower less directly at the ground so maybe a single (max) speed would have been fine.
10m cable: this is just long enough for my requirement so this is a plus for us (we have outdoor power sockets halfway along the drive). It’s only just enough and anything less would have been too short so needing an extension – I think in that situation I’d buy a length of cable and make the lead on the blower as long as I wanted. See ‘Dislikes’ below.
Dislikes:
power cable: This is the *obvious* trade-off with mains electric blowers. If you think you’ll hate having a cable, don’t get this blower. For us this is a complete non-issue, and the advantages of light weight, high power, zero maintenance and no restriction of battery life far outweigh the cable requirement.
Id been considering getting a petrol blower for a while but the good brands were all very expensive for something that would essentially spend 10 months of the year unused. Also the thoughts to petrol, spark plugs, oil etc. put me off. When I seen this electric blower and all the rave reviews I thought I’d give it a go. It arrive today and I’m amazed at the power of this small machine. Its May so theres no leaves to blow but I thought I’d see how it did in blowing the small stone chips that have come loose in our tarmac driveway which are a pain to sweep up. It did a great job. The power is so strong that I had pains in my arm from it pushing against me.
The machine is very robust, the only slight issue I have is the tube clips onto the blower on one side only, the other side has a slot but no clip so with the power of the air it comes a small bit loose. Not a big deal but they should have put 2 clips.
Overall I’m very impressed.
I bought this blower not to blow leaves, but rather to use as a car dryer, having seen some favourable videos on Youtube. It is good , up to a point ! It certainly produces a powerful flow of air and is light enough to easily manoeuvre around the car. The biggest problem( and its not the blowers fault!) is that the actual opening from which the air is expelled is rather large. Great for moving leaves around but not so great when trying to direct air onto specific areas/panels on the car. It needs an attachment, similar to one used on a hairdryer, so that the air was concentrated and emerges from the blower through a smaller opening thus giving the user a greater degree of control and direction. Sadly I can’t find, or devise, anything to serve this purpose. Shame , because if such an attachment was available ,it would make this blower a really great car dryer at a fraction of the cost of a specialised car blower. If anyone has any ideas I’d be grateful to hear. Unfortunately I myself am unable to come up with a solution, being so inept at DIY that I can’t even spell it !
WORX WG518E Air Turbine Corded Leaf Blower, 2500 W, Black
Just received today and washed my car in full midday sun as first trial to see if it works for my purpose, normally I would not wash car in hot sunshine because of our very hard water leaves lime scale deposits all over glass, paintwork trim, and chrome, before I can dry with a large microfibre towel, even using the water hose to wet car down again, still left lime scale deposits / water spots, to have better success I would normally choose to wash the car early in the morning with very limited success, but using the Worx WG518E Air turbine corded leaf blower for the first time I dried the car in minutes, with just couple of minor places that I finished off drying with the microfibre towel to complete the job, had I not watched a YouTube video of a professional detailing guy in sunny Texas using the Worx WG520 which is the USA version leaf blower, and he thoroughly recommended this rather than the purpose built car dryers which are also very expensive, my own initial trial I was blown away totally excuse the pun, whilst my car has been waxed which probably helps a bit, I was amazed how well this worked although I did get some comments & strange looks from the neighbours, I guess they have never seen a leaf blower used like this, as a final comment the guy in Texas said he had tried dozens of different brands & types of leaf blowers with limited success until he tried this one which was defiantly the best and he is using it for a living, I hope this may be of some help to others who may wish to try using the Worx WG518e Turbine Leaf Blower to dry their car they won’t be disappointed.
