Bought a Mazda cx30 which has wired apple carplay. Wanted wireless. This worked seamlessly. Plug it in, connect to it via Bluetooth and done. Takes a few seconds for carplay to pop up.
A cracking device that enables Auto Android/ Auto Play for your older car. Plug and play, easy to set up.
Live Google Maps including up to date traffic information is brilliant.
Keep tabs of your emails/messages
Play your music playlists easily
Thousands of Radio stations
Brilliant!
Didn’t want to charge my phone each time I used wired Carplay. Got this and it’s brilliant. Easy to set up first time, then not needed to do anything since. No need to plug in my phone anymore, just get in the car and go. Brilliant! Can’t recommend it enough.
Very simple set up. Remember to delete your Bluetooth selection permanently for your car on your phone and then just use the adapter. Instructions are pretty straightforward and after following the steps to update to the latest software, It works like a dream. Connection to CarPlay is slightly delayed to around 30 seconds, before everything kicks in.
So I originally had the android/carplay model and that crashed all the time. So decided to get this android specific model which is lot better. Overall this makes android auto a breeze as your phone just automatically connects, so no need to plug in all the time anymore. The only issue i get is I have noticed when you lose phone signal/gps signal when driving it has a tendancy to crash and reconnect. This takes about 5-6 seconds, so not the end of the world. I am going to try a firmware update to see if this helps; but overall would recommend getting one.
This was very-nearly a 1-star review. I purchased the Carlinkit 4.0 for my 2019 Cupra (SEAT) Ateca. My reason for selecting the 4.0 version was that my wife uses an iPhone, whilst I use Android (OnePlus 9 Pro).
Upon first plug-in (and for the next hour or so), I got progressively-frustrated. My Android phone would connect, however my infotainment screen always appeared blank. When I connected the iPhone, it would work for literally 5-seconds before screen-freeze and dropping Bluetooth connection.
I googled “Carlinkit connectivity issues” and found many reports. The most-common fix was to login to 192.168.50.2 (via Safari or Android browser window), and update Firmware to latest version. I could not login via Android browser (refused to open page even when Wifi & Bluetooth were connected to Carlinkit), however the iPhone was successful via Safari. I entered my car details and checked for updates – but I already had the latest version for my vehicle. At this point I almost gave up and returned the device.
But I did not give up. Browsing the Carlinkit settings I found the option to “downgrade to previous firmware version”. I selected this, and after several warnings the downgrade began. After leaving phone and Carlink for 5-minutes to do their things, I was greeted by an upgrade-complete message. I removed and reinserted the Carlink device – and hey-presto both iPhone and Android devices worked!
Once downgraded, reliability and speed seem really good. Both phones take ~20-seconds to connect after entering the car. There is perhaps half-a-second delay when using the touchscreen, but this is fine/expected. Sound is also great with no dropouts so-far.
Overall, this would have been a 5-star rating if it had worked out of the box. Unfortunately I suffered an initial hour or two or head-scratching – so have dedected a star. Four stars seems fair now that everything works.
It was so easy to connect. I wish I could buy the bigger box for YouTube use too.
Sound quality same with the cable. The online radio plays straight away. Same YouTube music and Spotify.
Hesitated before purchasing one of these and read lots of reviews of various dongles that had very mixed experiences. As we’re planning some epic road trips throughout 2023, I decided to take the plunge and basically buy the one with highest Amazon score and top ratings with various YouTube reviews which was this Carlinkit 4.0. Went for the 4.0 as it also handles Android and thought this may give some flexibility in the future rather than being tied to IOS.
Firstly, very happy with how small it is. This was always a concern as I always thought it was the size of a packet of cards or cigarettes, but it’s at least half the size. Big tick as it doesn’t dominate the arm rest compartment or restrict the wireless charging kit built within.
Easy and quick to install. Hardly noticeable lag at start-up and un-noticeable lag on playback or using Siri commands.
The only thing I have noticed that I don’t recall being mentioned elsewhere, is a very slight reduction in definition of the CarPlay graphics, but this is really me being picky.
Scoring 4 star as I’ve only had for a very short period and cannot comment on it’s longevity, but I’m optimistic and very happy so far.
Very simple to set up in the car and connect to your mobile. I would recommend this product.
Great adaptor to convert my car stereo to wireless CarPlay. Compact unit, takes a few seconds to link up on start up but still quicker and easier than plugging i
I’ve been using this for a couple of months now on long journeys and short after the cabled CarPlay connection stopped working. I had a few difficulties setting up initially for no clear reason but once I got past that it’s been almost faultless. It connects automatically every time without me thinking about it. I have given it 4 stars instead of 5 because occasionally I get a glitch where CarPlay is there but no sound, so it’s not perfect.
Super easy to install, managed to hide it well.
Black option to match the car would have been good, who has a blue interior!
Takes a little time to load, nothing too terrible though! The only thing I don’t like is my car play automatically goes on to the map widget page rather than the app page, might be in settings though
Plugged it in and was easy to set up, it connects every time I get into my car, had it a month and had no problems
Really good bit of kit. Android auto works perfect when connected. Only dropped the review by 1 star because occasionally the phone doesn’t connect. Easy fix just unplug the Carlinkit and plug it back in and its sorted. Would recommend this though, it’s well made and good quality.
Hello
This product did not always connect to my 2022 F-Type Jaguar without unpluging first ! I contacted Support and they custom wrote a program to make it work!!!
I have bought a few of these devices in the past but have never had such good after service!!!!
Well Done and many thanks Guys!!!
Turned my car with wired CarPlay into a car with wireless CarPlay like my wife’s car. Just plugged it in and paired it up with my phone. Now I have wireless CarPlay every time I get in the car. Connects automatically. Just works.
I had this set up and was using it within just a few mins. Never had any problems connecting and the car and my phone connect every time automatically. Minor lag when skipping tracks etc but that is a minor complai
I’m really happy with this item; connects easily into the car, a quick Bluetooth pairing later, things are looking good.
On starting the car, it can take ~15 seconds for the unit to connect to the phone- I’ve had no way of checking with multiple devices to see if this is the phones fault, as yet.
The projection using this unit is great – it looks much finer than the usb connection; almost like the default car resolution is set lower, and this device overrides that. No complaints, I think it looks great and gives much wider visibility of maps, and more screen estate for music/media lists
One nag is that there’s a usb port on the unit; it looks like a pass-through for power only; it’s a shame it doesn’t also allow data-this would provide usb audio alongside wireless ‘phone connection.
Final pedantic nag – the stereo only send to display this as Apple Car Play – even when you connect Android devices…
So simple to install in my Skoda. It connects every time without fail with my iPhone and the car system. So glad I got it cus it was a pain having to plug and unplug each time.
I would recommend this product.
