The Power of Wireless
A strong, consistent wireless signal is provided by Intel Gigabit Wi-Fi and the strategically placed Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) wireless antenna with 2×2 MU-MIMO. MU-MIMO (Multi-User Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output) is a standard that offers faster wireless speeds and can handle more wireless devices at once.
Extra Functions
Two USB Type-C ports for ultra-quick data transfer, video streaming, and battery charging. The reversible USB 3.1 Type-C connector is the same at both ends and on both sides, so it’s easy to attach. USB 3.1 is 10 times faster than USB 2.0. In addition to the two USB 3.1 Type-C ports, there are also two USB 3.0 Type A ports.
Stay Productive
Fast boot times, ease of use, tough security and a long battery life are some of the advantages of Chrome OS. With a boot time of about 8 seconds you’ll start working quicker; the simplified interface makes it easy to learn; integrated malware protection stops viruses in their tracks; and finally an efficient use of power means you can work all day without your power adapter.

I bought this for my daughter for her university work. It’s excellent for what is required.
Nice and solid build. Good battery life. I made the right decision and am very happy with i
his is a good computer for internet surfing. it looks good and works well.
I totally love it, easy to use and fast. Gets the job done and easy installation
Definetly recommend i
Overall I’m very impressed with this device. It boots up quickly and runs at a reasonable speed, Chrome OS is very intuitive and easy to get used to, and this Acer device has a decent keyboard, good battery life, and a reasonable quality screen.
The onboard sound is a little thin and the colour reproduction on video could be better, but considering the price point of the device I can’t really complain about either of those.
Chromebooks are aimed at a certain use case, and for sofa-surfing, the occasional document, and general day-to-day basic computing this is a solid usable reliable machine. If watching loads of video is one of your key requirements you might want to consider a device with a better screen, but this one is perfectly decent enough for the occasional YouTube / iPlayer video. Would recommend.
If you are new to Chrome OS you probably should avoid, unless you are coming from Linux. If you are coming from iOS then no one can help you 😛 For a couple of hundred nicker, in the hands of Chrome OS users it’s a fabulous little performer. However, I did have difficulty Registering the product at acer because it would never let me login to do so …. Solved by opening a Private Window, so it must have been something in the Cache left over from signing up with email first time stage.
I needed a simple budget laptop for work and after scouring the reviews for some time picked this one and I wasn’t disappointed. The battery life is excellent and for basic work needs it’s exactly what I needed.
I had a 16″ laptop whose screen got ruined after I dropped a pair of tongs on it. I was deeply sceptical when I ordered this laptop as a replacement. Must say I was pleasantly surprised after receiving it. The laptop is very fast and snappy, google docs works nicely, 4k videos play without any stutter (have to adjust the viewing angles though), sound is good with a wireless speaker. It made me realise that I really don’t need a machine costing 800+, and 16″ is 16 too many. The best part is, the AUE date is in 2027 which keeps the laptop current till its useful lifespan.
At the time of writing the listing contains inaccurate info for the Chromebook I received. It does NOT have a fingerprint reader, it is NOT touch screen, 12.5 hours battery seems unrealistic. Do your research to avoid disappointment.
Pros:
– Light.
– As you’d expect, almost instantaneous boot up and shut down.
– Decent battery, though don’t believe 12.5 hours is achievable. It charges quickly, the charger is small and neat.
– Two USB-C ports, one either side.
– Nice keyboard. I use a separate bluetooth keyboard but when I do have to use the on board one it isn’t an issue.
Cons:
– Plasticky feel. Not a concern for me and keeps it light.
– The screen is only OK, wide viewing angles are not good, similarly you will find yourself tilting it back and forth to find the best viewing angle. I wouldn’t try watching anything side by side with someone else, you need to be front-on.
Excellent Chromebook. Fast, responsive, easy to set up and nice build quality.
The keyboard is easy to use, connects to my Google pixel phone without any trouble and the screen and sound quality is excellent. If you don’t need all the bells and whistles of a laptop, I’d highly recommend this.
Set up and use is very easy with fast internet too
I am new to Chromebook but the learning programme built in is making it easy. It is different to Apple and Microsoft by working in cloud. No viruses or malware. I suspect the whole concept will catch on very soon.
Hi I got this Acer Chromebook 314 for my wife as I have one myself and it is a brilliant computer for her and I highly recomment it.
hought the computer would have touch screen and finger print id, but apparently that’s a different model. need to make this clearer and not advertise something it’s not. other than that it’s a great chrome book.
I wish I could have enlarged the letters , I wear glasses but it is still a bit small to read. M Norma
A great value Chromebook. Good battery life, small and lightweight. All the things I need in one place. I love it.
Wanted a lightweight laptop for work and this is honestly perfect. The screen isn’t too small, sound is good, it runs everything I need it to (primarily working on Chrome or through Google docs) and the battery life is impressive. Very pleased with it.
This is an excellent product. Light, easily portable, very use to use and speedy. Can highly recommend.
Great chromebook for the money. Does everything I want it to. Works with USB mouse and keyboard and separate monitor via adaptor. Good size for carrying around if you want. Keyboard, screen touchpad all good standard.
So quick to start and simple to set up. Put in my Google account details and it sync ‘d all my settings, passwords and everything. Keyboard is lovely (proper). Has a delete key (which I was worried about having read in a review that there wasn’t one. Screenshot also on a toggle key at the bottom right corner. Well there is so nothing to worry about. Was able to increase display size in settings. Picture quality good. So far so good and definitely 5 stars. I will review again in six weeks to see if it is holding up.
This is my second Acer Chromebook. I bought this one as my first was reaching it’s AUE date. To be honest I was a bit irritated that no Chromebook sellers seem to think that giving the AUE date in the specification is important. They seem happy to sell Chromebooks which will stop receiving automatic updates within a couple of years and yet not think it important to inform the customer of this. I found this out to my cost when I bought the first Chromebook. The AUE date on this Chromebook is June 2026 and I am happy with that.
Having had my moan about AUE dates let’s get on to the review of this machine. Having had it for a couple of months I can say that I am happy with it except for one issue which is the screen contrast. Those of you who are used to Chromebooks will know how quickly they boot up. This one is no exception and is up and running in seconds. The build is not quite as good as my CB3-431. The aluminium lid has been replaced with plastic but this is not, overall, a problem. The keyboard also seems slightly less robust but again, not an issue. Connectivity is much improved and there is now a card slot. The HDMI port has gone but I never used it anyway. Having Two USB C’s is useful as it can be charged from either side. Having the choice between 32GB and 64GB is also good. I went for the 64GB as using Linux on the 32GB takes up 7.5GB of memory and I wanted to have a bit more spare on this machine.
I have to say that I am a real convert to Chromebooks. Having using Windows machines for centuries I became totally fed up with the never ending succession of lengthy updates. As a matter of interest, I have converted a couple of old laptops into Chromebooks by using Neverware Cloudready. I can thoroughly recommend readers looking into this if you have an old laptop gathering dust. It is really easy to install and breathes new life into old machines. Google have now bought Neverware and clearly they have something in mind possibly as regards making Chromebooks more secure after AUE dates have expired.
As I mentioned earlier my only niggle with this device is screen contrast. I don’t know what it is but fonts seem light ans slightly blurry. The background is also a bit hazy and overall it is not as clear as the old machine. I have tried adjusting every setting possible to no avail. I have even installed the font enhancer extension but it has made no difference. For this reason I have docked one star in the review. 4.5 is more like the true rating. If anyone has any suggestions regarding making the screen and fonts clearer I will be happy to hear.
In summary this is a great machine for the money. I don’t think anyone buying it will be disappointed. Don’t expect all the bells and whistles which come with more expensive laptops as you just don’t get them on Chromebooks. This is a functional workhorse which does exactly what it say on the tin. Great battery life, easy to use and good value for money.
Amazing battery life I leave my laptop on aside pick it up as and when I need too and from one charge it lasts at least 24 hours, easy to use and I love the screen size, so simple to set up too
Love Chromebooks, so easy to use straight from the box. Great design, good spec, it does everything needed and more. Great battery life.
Great chromebook. Purchase Full HD 1080. Runs buttery slow. Good built quality overall. Brightness is great. Battery life gives a full working day use. Highly recommended for any first time chromebook users. The only small gripe is the missing HDMI port. Need to purchase a USB-C to HDMI adapter.
I have always enjoyed Acer over the years and my Chromebook is just great.
Compact quick loading very reliable fits my needs…
This is my first Chromebook, and I found it very easy to set up. I have been using it most of the day and even streamed over an hour of sport in full HD, and I still have 60+% battery.
If i ever do need to charge whilst using it has charging ports to both sides, which is a very handy feature.
it is a very light laptop, but still feels solid in hand.
the speed is fantastic for streaming and surfing far quicker than any windows device i have ever had.
the sound quality is great too, and its not fighting a noisey fan.
you can get all the apps for spread sheets word processing and photo editing via the play store.
overall im sold, this is a solid laptop.
Great Cromebook. Super easy to set up, nice size and good battery life.
( I ordered the bigger screen but exchanged for this slightly smaller version with 1080 full HD )
Would fully recommend for web browsing, Netflix, Prime, etc…
Not a full PC by any means, but that’s why its a Cromebook NOT a Laptop.
Bought this as new but just not sure if it is
Positives: mid price, lightweight, battery life good. Negatives:gets hot quickly, disappointing keyboard-no caps lock key or delete key. My previous book was the same size but had a better keyboard.
Bought two of these for my two kids and it very good for there school work. Very quick start up and shutdowns, battery life is good. Had them a couple of month and have hot no problems and would recommend.
Incredible value for money, my main device is a Razer Blade which I sometimes use to game but I have rarely felt disappointed about having the Chromebook on me rather than the Razer. Only slightly annoyance is that the screen gets dark when you view it from the side so it isn’t the best for a Netflix sesh.
