Bought this and the temptop to compare readings.
Temtop was always lagging behind when I introduced some particles and would jump by hundreds where as this device was responsively giving me results.
Needles to say I’m keeping this one and returning the temtop
I bought this to measure the air quality as we live near a building site and can smell diesel.
I have tested this device a number of different ways. Spraying a deodorant can made it go red and advised it was unhealthy!
We had some work done in the house where there was a lot of sawing and electric tools being used.
It smelled really badly. I turned on this device and it went blue and said Hazardous. I quickly opened all of the windows and it went down after about 20 minutes.
This device totally works, if you want to know the air quality in your house I highly recommend it.
Great device to have near your log burner to check pollution particle levels, shame it has no battery source so it can run independent.
The monitor is very helpful in understanding air quality. A neighbouring property has been burning things and the monitor has helped us understand how that is actually impacting our house air. I like it comes with a usb rather than plug as I can connect it to a portable battery and bring it anywhere. Works less reliably with wind outside but good indoors.
Works along in line with other monitors.
Also I was surprised. As soon as I turn on my levoit air filters they removes all PM down to 0.5pm. At 0.3pm they hardly made a difference.
So this is also a good way to test air purifiers!
I bought this product as I use a wood burning stove and there has been a lot of hype in the media on how damaging to health these can be owing to particulates entering the house and of course the environment.
I only give a 4 for accuracy as I have no way of knowing how accurate it is but when used outside to check the published AQI the measurement was about that published so think it’s accurate.
I have recorded a 100% spike following refuelling my stove as headlines suggest. WHO recommend safe level of 5. Yesterday outside AQI was 29! Inside the house it was 4. This spiked to 8 when I added a log to the fire but returned to 4 within 10 minutes. The highest I’ve recorded inside is over 50, why, because we fried some bacon!
This device is great as it’s given me confidence that my stove is safe and will flag up any issues. It has also made me realise how Air Quality is affected by sanding, paint spraying and hairspray (dangerously high figure) so I am more likely to protect myself by wearing a mask.
It’s also started me looking at AQI websites so sometimes it is not a good idea to open windows to let in “fresh air” as outside air is polluted.
A great device highly recommended.
Be aware it needs to be connected to mains or a battery (not supplied) via a usb cable which comes with device.
Bought this to monitor air quality in our house due to having an open fire and young children. It immediately shows hazard warnings if smoke gets blown back into the room letting you know how long to ventilate the area etc. Also detects poor air from frying food. The readings update each second and also usefully give accurate temperature and humidity readings. Seems like a professional product.
This is really good. Best useful gadget I’m sure I have purchased. If you are a smoker then you be shocked by how awful your air is in your home by using this. Once you then use a air purifier you can see the readings drop . So it proves this works.
So easy to use.
Just 2 negatives. I wish the lead could be lot longer. And also it be nice if the screen was bigger.
But you will not be disappointed buying this.
ho paura che funzioni veramente… prima foto , aria esterna, seconda, misurazione interna con vetri chiusi…
A brilliant little partial meter, it took a while for delivery but for the price it’s an easy wait. It DID get here BEFORE the estimated date though, which was a bonus.
Worth the money worth the wait and my wood fired lounge is a”Particle-llly” PM2.5 low zone
I WOULD buy from this seller again with confidence.
The device appears accurate as regards particulates and temperature when compared against external AQI measures from local weather stations.
It certainly a good guide and shows adverse readings when my open fire suffers downdraft.
Roastng potatoes and using a vacuum cleaner both produced unhealthy levels of pm2.5
So does the job for me. Open windows as appropriate.
I have given four star rather then five for accuracy as I cannot independently verify exact readings
I saw this reviewed on youtube to monitor wood dust in a workshop and bought out of interest. I am not disappointed .
Unit has a clear LCD display and a Plantower PMS5003 universal particle concentration sensor.
The PM 2.5 reading really helps to minimize how long you need to keep windows/doors open when lighting a wood fire.
PM2.5 usually 0 to 4ug/m3 when no fire is lit and 12 to 22 when first lit or a new log is added, settles back to 4 to 6. Of course if you have lots of smoke, poor draught, then it could read north of 180ug/m3. Interestingly roasting (frying etc.) Chicken produces more PM 2.5 particles than anything my wood burner produces during normal usage.
It is also possible, with a bit of soldering, to add a Raspberry PI Pico W (not included) to monitor the UART TX line and report the particle readings to Home Assistant etc.
I have COPD – non smoker. Interested why can breathe sometimes and not others. Watching local pollution scores on Ventusky wondered if proximity of supermarket carpark and/or Gatwick Airport had anything to do with it.
Well, a new hobby! Check out with prevailing wind and Atmospheric Pressure (Google) and you are A SCIENTIST.
AND IT IS PRETTY! !
I am not sure why it has the word Formaldehyde in the description, this is a particle monitor which also measures temperature and relative humidity. If this is what you want then it is absolutely brilliant.
Really good breakdown of particle quantity for all of the different sizes, turns on and gives reading quickly.
If you are interested in the air quality in and around your home, this is highly recommended
