I purchased this to replace an old strip shredder. It was more expensive than the last one, but you get what you pay for. This feels like a quality machine. The motor is quite heavy, but I had a lot of things like bank statements and other very personal documents to destroy, and this is certainly up to the job. Pieces come out quite small and I feel happy about the security element. For me, it will get occasional use, but on that basis, I can certainly recommend it.
I was sceptical this would work for any length of time given the price. I have had it running for long periods and never had the usual shutdown as other shredders I have do. Good valuue
This has literally revolutionised my life (because I didn’t have a shredder before) – works well enough on multiple sheets of paper, haven’t had any issues with jamming so far. Good capacity as well. I haven’t tried shredding cards with it but so far it’s been able to handle anything I’ve needed it to. Stops running when there’s no paper contacting the blades so seems safer too and the gap is too small for fingers
I bought this to replace my old shredder which had died on me and it was definitely worth the money. It shreds paper easily and isn’t as noisy as my old one, the only downside I would say is that the bin could be a bit bigger but overall, I would recommend this product, especially if you don’t have large volumes to shred on a daily basis and you just want to shred the usual utility bills.

This is a brilliant shredder, had bag loads of paper work that needed shredding, not anymore. Performed faultlessly and so glad I didn’t buy a cross cut, much easier to put clippings in the bin.
Only used a few times, but does the job, it is a little noisy, it’s good as you can cut up bank cards, so nice little feature. It also takes quite a few pages so is time saving. so far I am very pleased with it.
Ideally you would be able to shred more sheets concurrently. I’ve not done a significant stack yet but the manufacturers instructions make it clear it needs a lot of heat breaks. The storage capacity soon gets used up. It’s not overly noisy and appears to be broadly up to the job without it being a speedy option.
I have been using this to shred a big pile of papers. It seems sturdy and hasn’t got stuck BUT it overheats every few minutes (the red warning light comes on) and you have to leave it for half hour.

Good size, very quiet and does a very good job. It would be better if it was a cross shredder as well (only shreds in long (one direction) strips. Apart from that – excellent.
This is by far and away the best shredder I’ve had. I tend to go through a few of them (!)_ doing things like putting too much paper in etc. The last one, however stopped working when I put something with a sticky label on it in. This one had great reviews so I went for it based on that. Love it so far. Hopefully I won’t wreck this one!
I was perturbed at the price of shredders when mine broke down after several years of faithful service. It had been my best ever shredder, and I wanted to replace like for like but couldn’t afford it at nigh-on 100. So I had to look at alternatives and the Amazon Basics one at a third of the price seemed to get good reviews so I thought I’d give it a go. After clearing quite a big backlog, following the usage instructions to the letter so as not to overload it/invalidate the warranty, I can honestly say that it’s been great.
Got this for under 30 and at that price, I was (and still am!) really pleased. Works well and is a vast improvement on my old strip cut shredder – the chopped up pieces are small enough to give confidence that you really have shredded a document to a suitable standard rather than the strip cut shredder where it seemed you could almost put a document back together again and read it!
The only slight negatives I can think of are – it’s a bit heavy to move about (noteworthy but not a problem in itself), the plastic doesn’t scream high quality (but at the same time, to be fair, the construction doesn’t seem flimsy and it was less than 30!). Finally, it’s easy when turning it off (via the switch on the top) to trigger the reverse function – which isn’t very well thought out. Overall though – excellent.
My last shredder finally died a death, so I ordered this new one as I had so much paperwork to shred. This is slightly larger than my old one. It has a large collecting tub, is really easy to use, cuts up credit cards easily, is noisy but that is to be expected. I have used it so much since ordering it and it has only cut out once when it overheated. I am very pleased with its performance so far.
Did need to cool down once. But I was shredding for hours, lol.

So, having read the write up for this Amazon Basics shredder and read the reviews, I decided to order one.
It is nothing short of brilliant because:
1. It does shred the number of pages it says it can.
2. It does NOT overheat quickly and cut out.
3. It is brilliantly easy to use and empty and with forward and reverse on the motor as well as ‘cut position’ and ‘off’, it allows you to easily unclog the cutting head.
I have used this a lot and at times multi document shredded and this took it all on with no issue.
I have recommended this to a lot of people so far because who would have thought this Amazon Basics Shredder beat all of the ‘big brand’ shredders and beat them hands down.
I HIGHLY recommend this shredder to all who read this [and PS: I left it a year before leaving this review too!!]
This cross cut shredder is well made and easy to operate, only use it to shred 2 or 3 sheets at a time so can’t say about using it long term with more sheets.
The bin is larger than other home shredders we have had, which is a plus.

Its worked great for me in a home use setting.
Of course im human and will sometimes over feed it in thickness but it deals with this great. So used in accordance with instructions its brilliant.
Ive had it running within its 30mintue continuous run time and it didnt show any signs of worry.
The bin is a good size and simple to detach for emptying also sometimes a jolt can cause spillage if too full. (I guess user error)

The cut paper is perfect. No issues so far.
I have the oil and paper for maintenance as and when needed. Not yet used these.
The cd tray does get in the way when the paper bin is filling up, but thats a super minor thing and of course its detachable too. So if you dont intend on using that just remove it. Some of the plastic holders for that piece did scratch my hands when installing but again not a big problem.
The blades are tucked out of the way as one would expect. Its safe and easy to use.
I think the operation noise is reasonable. Its heard in other rooms in my house (thin walls) but run time is short and in frequent.
Cant complain so far. Happy with this purchase and would recommend this model.

The bin drawer sticks a bit when I try to open and shut it, but otherwise I am happy with the shredder.
Works well although the strips are wider then I expected would have preferred the thinner strips that were on my old machine, also the thinner strips pack down better.
I am very pleased with this machine! Many of the machines are 8-10 sheets and yet costs more than 100, so i think i have a good buy!! It continues to be a good buy!!!

Like all basic shredders the noise level is bearable, But for shredding it is great Have not had to use it for credit cards as yet.
This shredder cuts in Cross cut, but not tidy cross cut pieces as some of the expensive business use ones. I’d defy anyone to say they could read or piece together the bits as not cut small enough. It does not cut in long curly strands. Ideal cut paper for recycling in mice and hamster cages for free!
Initially thought it was not working, before I realised that the on/off button which I thought was not working actually operated in the reverse of my old one. Always read the instructions even if you think you know it all. Good job I checked it and before i embarrassed myself returning it for no reason. Hopefully this amazon shredder will last as long as my old one did.
