I can’t comment on the picture quality as it is a Christmas gift that hasn’t been used yet. I am really pleased with the price.
Good points-
Decent picture
Minimal ‘glow’ when camera is on infra red
Motion sensor works / isn’t noticable under matteress
Decent battery life
Bad points-
Can be fiddly, especially pausing motion sensor to take out of cot (but you get used to it)
Touch pad feels as responsive as an old school satay- you need to give it a ‘propper’ press
Motion sensor definitely needs a cot, not a moses basket
An app option or more modern feeling screen would be nice
Overall, worth the money and good balance of functionality vs cost. Minimal false alarms, but has gone off a couple of times when he had slowed movements on his tummy.
I seriously don’t understand where all these bad reviews coming from.
We can’t stress enough how fantastic is that camera! We keep saying to all our friends that it’s our best buy, that we wouldn’t be able to function at the house without it!
We started using it for the odd nap in cot .
I’ve put sensor pad under the mattress right in the middle so the all cot is monitored .
I actually don’t know how other mums sleep or function during the day with out it!
Knowing that sensor pad has got everything under control I feel more peaceful. We have never had any false alarms like some of the users ? I think that they have not put pad in the right place ?
Some of the reviews are negative due to ” bad pic quality “! Are you for real?!
Quality of the picture is brilliant, even at night with no lights on.
You can even see your baby breathing, so no idea why other people complaining. We previously had Motorola and that was crap. This one is million times better.
I’d recommend this device to any new parents! You won’t regret it. Worth every penny.
We like the angelcare ac527 for it’s touch screen, portability due to travelling back and forth to parents in Wales and ease of use once you look at the instructions. We had tried the ac327 but found the picture quality wasn’t as good during the night in comparison to the ac527. The reception is great in our house as far as up the back of the garden aswell so we can take the monitor with us. We did find at my pare ts house the walls are 3ft thick as it’s an old building and although worked it was limited to places in the living room for range but it’s an old 16th century building and expected this. It did work fine once back within range .
The alram can be sensitive but once you play about with the settings all is fine. I would recommend this product.
I’m a bit sat on the fence whether I would recommend or not. Picture quality is not the greatest.but sensor pad has worked flawlessly so far!
It doesn’t link up to the internet, so you can’t watch if you’re away from home etc. The signal for video can drop out sometimes or picture go very poor.
I know I’m not painting a very good picture, but I would arguably recommend it, but think it’s a little over priced
Great product – provided security and reassurance with looking after babies
Really handy camera with sensor pad. Only thing is that the camera is I bit wobbly on the stand so installing it straight on a wall is better.
It will be used when my niece’s baby arrives around Xmas time
Brilliant product very highly recommend such peace of mind for my daughter when my grandson is sleeping
This has brought us peace off mind! Picture quality is amazing, even in pitch dark! Fantastic quality. When you have a baby with breathing problems you can’t put a price on it! Highly recommend
Had this product for a few months and it works well.
Picture quality seems fine.
The beep for the heart rate censor is very reassuring .
The best baby monitor I have used so far. Picture quality excellent & the most signal I have had on a video monitor., the last one I used did not work downstairs at all.
Screen is a little fragile. Microphone is fine but it could be better at picking up breathing sounds, traffic light signals on previous monitor was very helpful.
The sensor was of highest importance for me and is working quite well so far. Temperature sensors are quite good as well!
Recently changed to this version from the older one due to a fault. Camera screen is bigger with a marginal improvement in quality. Tough screen panel which Is really quick to respond. The main reason for purchase was for the apnea mat and this meets requirements better than others on the market. Particularly for tummy sleeper. No false alarms. Range is good for the monitor as well. Works in the garden. So overall happy with product. Just wish the camera was better quality
Fantastic item and worth the money!
Really good picture quality both day and night, and peace of mind with the movement sensor.
We leave plugged into the mains at night to enable it to be used for any daytime naps unplugged so that we can monitor from elsewhere in the house
Not only do you have the reassurance of the pictures but also there is a movement sensor, and temperature monitor with this brilliant little baby monitor taking away a lot of the stresses that plague new parents, this is ideal!
Be the grandparents who buy this gift for your new grandchild!
It will not only make the parents rest easier but you too!
I just wish this had been available to me when my kids were babies, it would have removed a lot of angst!
A terrific idea really made well, although the plastic is not the fall absorbant kind so care needs to be taken!
Easily a best in class product!
Been running this for s few months now (I don’t like to write impulsive reviews), it’s great for piece of mind and now baby is in another room, it’s still useful. Like everything it has it’s good and bad points :
Good points:
Big screen. Make baby easy to see, and both visual and audio are very clear. Obviously not broadcast quality, but good. Does depend on the lighting as all cameras do, night mode not as good, but still OK and clear. We liked the movement monitor and the child’s Mother is impressed by the added feature of tracking the temperature, thinks that’s great.
It was a doddle to set up and use, the instructions were clear and it was operational first time.
Bad points:
Worst point is the battery life in the monitor. Not good, as it needs frequent recharging.
In the early days the camera was placed near the baby in his mobile crib, as the camera was not mounted and was is in the crib, it was not very stable and liable to fall over. Now baby is in his own bedroom, the camera is mounted and OK. But Angelcare should have considered this usage.
Overall, it’s been a blessing, the construction seems good quality and solid. Obviously there are cheaper ones out there, but as they say ‘buy cheap, buy twice…’
This really is an excellent ‘Baby Movement Monitor with Video’ from Angelcare which enables you to watch over your sleeping baby night or day … technology can be a wonderful thing.
This baby monitor is perfect for parents with one or even two children (as long as they are sleeping in the same room) as the software allows a second movement sensor pad and nursery unit (this has to be purchased seperately). The camera can be operated from the parent unit’s screen and can be moved (digital zoom and pan) so that you can have a look at both children on the one screen.
This baby movement and large 5″ touch screen video monitor has so many useful features that it offers very good peace of mind for parents (especially first time parents). The movement pad really gives you piece of mind, an alarm will sound if there is no movement after twenty seconds … this alone could save a baby’s life. It also has a room temperature feature that shows the actual room temperature on both the parent and nursery unit.
Supplied with the baby monitor are 2 x AC adapters, movement sensor pad, table top stand with removable wall mount metal ball (for Nursery Unit). The camera can be placed on a flat surface and can also be wall mounted (fittings are supplied for this).
Touch screen controls are located along the top of the video screen and also on the front of the camera.
The image quality of the camera is actually very good and being able to use the zoom feature effectively without losing image quality is another plus point for me. I also really like the walkie talkie element which allows for the parent to talk to their baby directly through the unit.
Changing the camera angle is quick, easy and also silent. It moves position very smoothly.
My nephew and his wife have a young baby of ten weeks. We recently had to look after the baby for a few days whilst his parents went away on business and this baby monitor and movement pad has made this task much easier. I’m always a bit paranoid when I’m looking after someone else’s child and being able to keep my eye on them when they have been put down for the night is very calming. Plus the security of having a movement pad set up under the child’s mattress also reduces the stress of looking after such a young baby.
** SPECIAL FEATURES **
Quiet motorised video monitor
Camera tilts left to right and from front to back and is controlled via the screen of the parent unit.
Large 5 inch (12.7cm) touch screen
Zoom and pan options
Sensor pad that detects movement, alarm sounds after 20 seconds of no movement.
Room temperature sensor (allowing you to check the temperature of your baby’s room)
This baby monitor and movement pad is an excellent tool in keeping your baby safe and giving parents peace of mind.
Although expensive I have no problems with recommending this unit.
The product came very well packaged and it is provided by a simple instructions leaflet. To be honest, the infrared image quality (during the day is colourful and during the night is black and white) is not the top but it can be enough just to check your baby at the distance as you can zoom the image too. I don’t like the monitor’s touchscreen as it is not so responsive and intuitive… anyway, you can also hear your baby’s voice (and movements thanks to the pad put under the mattress of the cot) and you can speak/sing to him/her while you are in another room. I love that it shows the temperature in the room (the ideal would be 18 grade Celsius) which is very useful.
Obviously you should not keep camera and monitor close to each other, to avoid noise interference. The monitor has a nice stand to be put on a surface like a picture frame.
Whoa! Duncurin has been testing out this fabulous baby monitor courtesy of Vine and Angelcare.
My time on the labour ward was an exciting and invigorating time. Even as a medical student we had to deliver twenty babies in order to pass our Obstetric ‘block’. The moment as the baby appears and takes its first breath never nothing short of a miracle. I was also lucky to be a student in Cardiff where much of the early work to do with stillbirth, cot death, with historically high mortality rates in South Wales, was done. I remember such things as the Cardiff Count To Ten foetal monitoring system — simple but very effective at highlighting a pregnancy that was in trouble. Of course cot death/SIDS is always devastating and a tragedy for all concerned and of course especially the parents.
Enter the super monitor which allows parents with ‘routine’ pregnancies and deliveries and babies to monitor them. (I use the word routine as of course those who have been unlucky enough to experience cot death will be given sophisticated monitors by the NHS). There are three components and four main defensive lines. The camera unit will allow constant monitoring of the temperature in the nursery and you can set upper and lower limits with an alarm. Parents can also listen to their baby and there is also a speaker function so that you can talk to him/her though I suspect most would simply want to get in there. Then there is the video function which provides excellent images of baby both day and night when night mode is activated by falling light levels. Lastly, there is a pressure pad device that is placed below the cot mattress and this will detect movement and sound an alarm if no movement is detected after 20 seconds. The two sensor units (camera and pad) are then brought together by a rechargeable and portable monitor unit with a touch control colour screen. You can also purchase another sensor pad and camera if you have twins or two babies in the house.
All of these things are nicely made with quality materials and they have a nice look and feel. More importantly, they have all been thought through with no missing links to the chain. Thus the units come pre-paired with generous range of operation. If any should become unpaired or low in battery then the main screen will warn you. The facilities offered are wide-ranging but easy to set up and understand. It is worth for instance taking your time to calibrate and to test the baby pressure monitor as I suspect your sleep and sanity will depend upon the correct set up! I also liked the excellent night images from the camera and also the pan and tilt function so that should the need arise you can adjust the view if baby has wandered around the cot for instance though again I suspect many new parents would simply want to get in there if the view was not satisfactory.
As regards power, the pressure pad has a large button battery located in a locked compartment, the main screen is rechargeable with its own lithium battery and the camera has to be plugged in with a mains-powered micro-USB socket. Everything is supplied including two USB power supplies.
All in all this is an excellent, aesthetically pleasing and comprehensive baby monitoring system. It offers an understandable and deliverable solution to monitor at all times one’s precious baby. It allows you to be vigilant and keep one’s baby safe without staring over the cot and also rushing in there every 2 minutes. Set up is worth spending some time on especially as regards the pressure pad as time spent doing this correctly will reassure you, make sure that you are not switching a false alarm off every 20 seconds and will constantly monitor baby while he/she is in their cot.
Of course, having a new baby in the house is a wonderful experience but it can be a worrying time and it is easy for mum’s especially to become over worried as well as drained emotionally and physically. Please remember that mercifully cot death remains rare. Devices such as this will work constantly and reliably in the background to augment parental supervision and vigilance and so to enable mums and dads to get adequate rest and be notified only when they need to be. Overall, this is an excellent choice of monitor. Good luck and many thanks for asking me to review.
We are baby sitting for family way more than we used to, and when it’s an overnight occasion or even for a long day, this is perfect no need to worry anything will happen when the baby/babies are a sleep upstairs. Easy to set up, does track baby motion very well. Super glad we got this.
When I got this monitor I thought this looks like it is going to be a pain to set up. However, once the parent unit is charged it is pretty much just plug in and you are ready to go.
*The parent unit needs an initial first charge of eight hours for the battery to be optimised. All other charges take about four hours. When it is use it seems to need charging every two days, that is with turning it off after the night and in between a one hour nap a day.
There is no pairing required. It is not a WiFi camera and it is completely standalone. I am not sure how secure this is in terms of the image being viewed by hackers but I think you would need to be in range to receive the image. Whereas a WiFi camera can be hacked through your router by anyone in the world. So the image being transmitted is quite secure. However, it is good practice to turn the camera around to face the wall when you are changing the baby’s nappy.
In terms of the user interface usability I must say i did not even bother reading the instructions initially. It is very simple to use and to navigate the menu.
One should not expect the image quality to be amazing. We are now people who are used to HD video call and 4k movies. Remember it is being transmitted using radio waves. So in actual fact the quality is pretty good considering this. ( Remember IP baby monitors are easily hacked – this, being digitally transmitted on 2.4ghz, less so). But ultimately the images on the screen are good enough to see your baby in clarity. In addition, the night mode is pretty decent. The infrared works very well and the images are clear.
The touchscreen is sometimes a bit slow responding to your touch but not annoyingly so. Again, it is just when one is used to using an iPhone or Samsung phone which is ultra sensitive this seems a bit different.
The monitor comes with a stand which allows it to sit on the side like a picture frame, or next to your bed on a side stand for easy viewing. I would have loved this unit more if it could be changed for a belt clip. For example, if I am doing something in the garden or wondering around the house etc it would be great to carry in on my hip.
I love how this charges. It is just a simple micro USB charger, we all have plenty of those lying around the house.
The parent unit is loud enough. The displays toolbar gives icons indicating connection strength, battery level, sound and temperature.
In terms of range, i managed to get about 75 metres from my house down the street whilst testing the range. I am in a three bed semi. It works all over the house and garden.
How it works I don’t know but basically, it is so sensitive that it detects your baby’s slightest movements, ie breathing. If it doesn’t detect anything for 15 seconds it beeps, on your unit and the camera. The camera beeps to stir the baby into making a movement. It waits five more seconds before the alarm goes off.
The camera is a great little unit. You can use the stand or attach it to a wall. I have hooked my stand up where it balances on a shelf. The stand would have benefited from a screw hole but one can easily drill one. The cable is only approximately 182cms long. Which can make placing the camera a bit difficult. The field of vision is not huge. I have placed the camera and the foot of my daughters cot. It would be great to view the whole cot in portrait rather that half of it on landscape, but that is the limitations of this cameras field of vision. If I were to place the camera on the cots horizontal view, the image would be obscured by the cots rungs. It needs to be in that position to see the cot unobstructed. In another room I could achieve what i want but the nursery room is quite small.
I like the temperature gauge on the camera, it gives an illuminated analogue temperature which also changes colour to indicate, red = too hot, blue = too cold, white = optimum. My baby found this a distraction initially, but got used to it after two nights. When i did read the instructions in full i found out that you can turn this option off via the parent unit. Also on the camera is a Pause button, this allows you to pause the sensor unit to prevent the alarm going off when baby is taken from the cot.
In terms of the sensor unit, it doesn’t look much. I assure you t works well though. On the first night of using it I had placed the sensor towards the top end of the cot where my baby normally sleeps. In the night she had manoeuvred herself down to the bottom. The unit sensed this as a non movement as she was right at the bottom. The alarm went off and i went in and realsied my error. Since then I place the unit in the centre of her cot and it works well. In the instructions there is a test you can do to check sensitivity.
The sensor unit sits below the mattress and it does not even make a rise. So for the baby it must be unnoticable. It sits on the rungs or on a flat base. Obviously it could not be used on a spring base so a piece of slim hardboard would be required.
This has some nifty features. One of which is vox, so it is not constantly transmitting sound, only if it detects it. Another is that you can transmit sound from the parent unit, whether that be a go back to bed instruction or a lullaby it is up to you. Also, you can add another sensor for a second cot, ideal for twins. You can also set a temperature range for what you would like to be alerted to. Also, for those extra anxious parents/guardians it has an option for a clicker which lets you know that it is in fact monitor still and everything is still working.
Once your baby has grown up and SIDS is less of a concern then the camera and monitor makes a great playroom monitor.
I would suggest this without a doubt to any parents expecting a baby soon. It is a really reassurance to help protect your baby at their most vulnerable time. It is such a worry when they are so small but you are so exhausted. Remember, you need to have as much of a peaceful sleep as you can to be the best parent you can be. Ultimately, this is a sleep aid: for you! This will help you fall asleep knowing that you precious child is being monitored.
Really impressed by this baby monitor unit which contains all you need to check on your little one. It comes nicely packaged and you get a tablet screen, wireless activity monitor and camera. All are great quality. With regards to the screen and camera don’t expect anything HD-like but it’s still great quality picture. Night mode is surprisingly good and there are no issues with this at all.
It’s very simple to set up, and the wireless pad is slim and unobtrusive. It slips under the mattress and sounds an alarm if no activity is picked up for 20 seconds. This really gives you peace of mind that your baby is ok.
Yes this is a tough on the pricey side but considering what you get included it’s a real investment.
I must admit I hadn’t heard of this brand before but everything seems fantastic quality and well buil
This baby monitor is supplied in a branded box which contains; the parent unit with a screen, baby unit, movement sensor, stand with wall mount for the baby unit, two AC adaptors, and an Instruction manual
The instructions are good and it was logical and easy to set up. The baby unit also shows the temperature in the room which is a nice touch. The parent unit showed good quality video as well as sound so that you can hear what happens in the nursery. You can also speak to the baby via the parent unit which I was not expecting which is very useful as this will often calm her.
The parent unit is powered by a rechargeable battery so that you can take it around the house during the day or even in the garden. The range is good and it worked up to about 100M for me although this will depend on the location and environment. You can use it without the movement detection as well as your baby becomes bigger and more active!
The parent unit offers a 5-inch touchscreen that is easy to use and clear to watch with an infrared black and white display at night and full colour during the day. You can also zoom in on any detail and there is an option of adding a second camera for twins on the same display.
Overall this is easy to use and effective. It is not cheap but does feel to be good quality and is well designed. It helps provide piece of mind, especially during the first few months.
My first thoughts on this product was wow that`s expensive, until I saw it in action. I set it up ready for my baby sitting stint at the week-end,The set up was easy following the instructions. Place the camera and monitor in position and the sensor pad under the mattress. The picture is clear, the sound is crisp and clear and also works two ways, you can hear baby and talk to them. It is portable so while baby was sleeping I could keep the monitor with me while tidying up ect. The pad under the mattress detects movement and no movement is detected after a certain time lapse it will send an alarm. I had total peace of mind during the day and throughout the night. Worth every penny.
Very good even though we use it for our rabbits just to keep an eye on them I really like the thermometer on it so we can see the temp and it has a recording setting so when we’re out, the picture quality is really good to , the sound quality on the mic Is good and it has a movement alert Aswel totally recommend this baby monitor I wish I had one when my kids were babies
