ASUS ROG Strix 1000W Gold PSU

ASUS ROG Strix 1000W Gold PSU, Power Supply (ROG heatsinks, Axial-tech fan design, dual ball fan bearings, 0dB technology, 80 PLUS Gold Certification, fully modular cables, 10-year warranty)

0dB Technology

Quiet intelligence

An onboard controller brings the 135mm fan to a standstill when thermal design power (TDP) is below 40%, letting you enjoy light gaming in relative silence. Above 40% TDP, the fans automatically start up again.

80 Plus Gold Certification

Heart of gold

Top-end Japanese capacitors ensure efficient operation and have helped the Strix earn an 80 PLUS Gold certification. The increased efficiency also results in less heat, reducing noise and increasing reliability.

Fully Modular Cables

Plug in

Each model comes with fully modular 24-pin, 6+2-pin PCI-e, and 8-pin CPU cables that have embedded capacitors to reduce voltage ripple. And if you’d like to add a dash of colour to your build, the included CableMod coupon will set you on your way towards next-level customization.

This is an excellent product. Bought it via box.co.uk but couldn’t review it there. packaging is a really great touch. Cables are great and everything you need is in the box. Really easy to install and setup for use.

I always suggest ASUS to my friends.

Bought this for a new build that was being paired with an RTX 4090, so was looking at 1000W minimum.

There are quite a few choices at this price point, but I settled on the ROG Strix because it seemed so well reviewed for the noise level and it really does deliver in this area. It’s possibly the quietest PSU I’ve ever used at at this level of power and has performed great with everything that has been thrown at it.

Installation was really easy and the modular cables that are included are really good, high-quality cables. You get what you pay for with this PSU.

It was also great to see it coming with additional decals to make it look ‘your own’, which whilst I know is common for ROG / Strix products, is still something unique when it comes to being on a PSU.

Overall would certainly recommend for anyone wanting a high performance PSU, or for someone looking for a quiet PSU for their new build.

Easy install, pretty quiet, and enough for my 5900x + rtx3080 setup. Recommend!

Being able to use only the cables one needs (as opposed to managing the spaghetti nightmare protruding from most PSUs) was a relief. The uncabled PSU weighs half a stone (7lbs) I was quite surprised by the heft of it. All looks good and is powering my rig with no issues, wouldn’t have minded it being 30 quid cheaper though.

Not the cheapest but feels far more solid than my previous PSU and runs a lot quieter. Bought it to power an upgraded setup of a Intel 12400F and 3060ti with lots of RGB fans.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIm currently running this Power Supply in no fan mode for the dead silence but truthfully the fan running isn’t that noticeable but can be heard if your system is idling.

It’s overkill for my setup but was calculated to try sit in between the 50% – 80% range of my power usage with some overhead for GPU power spike’s.

All in all its happily powering my Ryzen 9 5900X at a stable 5GHZ single boost and 4.8GHZ all core paired with a overclocked 3070TI, 32GB of Ram, 6 Fans, 3 SSDs and my 2 RGB strip lights.

    Great product extremely happy.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt’s a Seasonic PSU essentially with custom heat sinks. It’s quiet, it performed without effort on a AMD system with a RTX 3080 and a total of 4 SSD’s installed and 8 fans.

No issues on installing, no issues with the cables and enough cable ties for myself (although my case had plenty too).

It’s solidly built, no whine it seems and is topped off with a solid 10 year warranty. Hope I don’t have to use it, but as said, it’s basically a Seasonic PSU and they make damn fine PSU’s.

One hell of a beast. Works great.

Loses a star because the cabling and clips were a lot more fiddly than the Corsair I had.

The stickers etc I find pointless. I’d rather Asus save the money and sell the products cheape

It’s a power supply. I imagine the fancy caps and heatsinks inside is fancy marketing. Its a 850watt… Cables are bang average. Nothing fancy.

Quiet, looks nice. Powerful enough to run my pc which has a 3080ti, and i9 processor.

It has literally reduced the noise by around 90% (even on full load) compared to my previous (i guess, dying, PSU) that sounded like a vacuum cleaner. Pleased with the purchase.

Got it today and never ever installed a PSU before. Not even needing the manual to help. At one point I thought this wasn’t going to work until I turned my cpu cable 90 degrees then magically turning on xD but really good!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersNever had any issues with it so far and it’s been running my 3080ti and 10700k like a breeze. Looks great and performs really well it’s not loud but it has a 0db function for those who would like that. Came with all the cables you will need and plenty room for more if needed. The box had some nice cable ties in it and stickers if your psu can be seen through your case so you can customise it! it also has a nice big magnetised asus logo if you want to put that on your case. All in all excellent quality from asus as always on their strix line the only gripe i have is the cablemod voucher will not let me apply it at checkout for any product i have no idea why but i haven’t been able to use the discount yet on any cablemod store region.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI’m planning a major upgrade to my PC so currently deciding on a new processor, motherboard and memory. I did a few calculations and realised my 450w PSU is not going to cut it and is probably on the edge having already added a heap of RGB and water cooling recently. This ROG Strix 850w PSU looks way too nice to be hidden, but that’s just how it is with my case having a separate chamber for the PSU and cabling plus things like commander pro’s and various headers for the RGB and fan controller. I’ve put some load on my PC and cannot hear this ROG PSU at all and it runs nice and cool. The unboxing experience is probably the highlight as it comes beautifully packaged with a black woven bag for the PSU and another for the modular cables. Also includes are magnetic graphics and ROG stickers for the PSU for those who have it visible. I used the smaller stickers elsewhere on my case. There are cable ties included and ROG velcro cable straps x 4 plus the screws to install it. Two mains cables, one UK and another for use in other regions. It comes with ten year warranty and a discount voucher for custom cables. I’ve read that some say this PSU is pricey, I personally looked at the detailed specs and figured my whole PC is a doorstop without a reliable PSU and didn’t really think it stood out price wise for a similar spec unit. Very happy with the purchase and thoroughly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersFully modular ATX PSU manufactured by Seasonic but branded ASUS with additonal heatsinks.

This is a quality PSU that will suit the vast majority of gamers that aren’t running absolute top-end CPU and GPU combinations, It runs 550W on the 12v rail alone so will push 550 – 650W at full load (although I wouldn’t recommend that for a long time) As manufactured by Seasonic you get the usual high quality and features with Asus ROG branding and some nice magnetic cover plates. |s rated Gold efficiency so really all that anyone would need. The fan has a switch that allows it to be off under low loads therby rendering the PSU silent. Cables are modular and standard sizes with flat cables for MOLEX and SATA connections. Included cables allow 2x 8 pin E-ATX CPU connectors and 2 X 8 pin PCI-E so will suit 99% of systems along with the usual SATA and MOLEX and 24 pin motherboard connection. Obvioulsy it allows you to manage your cable easier if you aren’t running a full system or are using M2 SSD’s

Overall the quality is superb and although there are cheaper PSU’s most tend to be semi modular or of lower quality.

I paired this with a 54 Lian LI 205M case and can honestly say this should be the minimum base requirement for any gaming system.

Note I probably wouldn’t run a 2080Ti plus overclocked Intel i9 or AMD threadripper at this wattage as you would be getting close to 100% loading, but anything less would be fine.

The price is definitely worth for what your getting, and fully modular too so makes your pc look clean. Also has a button at the back to keep it cool whilst your gaming definitely worth it.

Had to replace a Corsair 800 PSU, got the 650 version of this because I was fed up of things breaking so would pay more for a less powerful unit.

This is my first modular PSU and found it so easy to install, and just installing the cables you need makes it so much tidier in the case.

Looks good with its accessories if you can see inside the case, comes with aesthetic magnets instead of stickers so you can place them in your case if you want to.

Solved all my problems, run an Asus Mobo, i5, 5700XT, 3 SSDs and 20gb of RAM and works like a charm.

The option to have the fan only spin when needed makes it super quiet.

Great looking psu, comes with plenty cables and some nice stickers, noise will not be noticeable at all, definitely if you are a rog strix fan you will want this in your system
