The best WIFI mesh system on the market. The XT12 has replaced my virgin media Hub 4 which had unreliable wifi and now I get full speed all over my house. The XT12 capabilities are excellent, the signal is very stable, and the dedicated 5ghz backhaul channel works perfectly. I set the product on auto channel bandwidth so it automatically selects the best bandwidth with no issues. When switching between nodes it is just flawless with no issues at all. The WIFI signal quality is excellent, and the setup is simple.
Extremely a smart looking router, No lost signal anywhere within the property hence, there is no need for a mesh or Wi-Fi extenders. Planning to use a better quality CAT Ethernet cable to see whether any speed improvement. The blue light could have been a bit more brighter than the present one. Also, doesn’t get heated like other router units. A brilliant product.
Product arrived in very nice package. It was very easy to install and connect the two devices together. Setup was as usual from Web Portal. The speed and coverage is impressive. No Wifi dead spots anymore. AImesh does a good job.

I bought these as i have Gigabit internet & wanted a mesh system & scrap the ISP router. Due to skys DHCP option 61 i was limited on what consumer products i could get without going into enterprises gear like ubiquity udm pro etc.
So cant do tp link with skys fttp. looked at the orbi RK852 but loads of reports of issues with poor app loading / laggy, mesh disconnects.
Originally decided on the ASUS ET12 with wifi 6e as i have a few 6e devices like PC.
I saw dongknows review on XT12 vs ET12 & for a full wireless mesh the XT12 is better with wireless backhaul and ET12 is better with wired backhaul. For me defeats the purpose of a wireless mesh.
Easy to setup the XT12 just unplugged sky router from the openreach ONT, logged into the router’s networking page, did option 61 protocol & was up and running. Plugged node next to the main one so its synced and once synced placed it where i wanted it.
Great thing about these and the nodes you can change the roaming sensitivity so if devices are hanging on to a node when another is closer you can change the sensitivity of when a device is dropped & picked up by another node. Will take a few days to get the number right but once sorted devices flow perfectly. (This also matters depending on how far 2nd node is away from main node aka router)
My node is on a different floor and has -55db signal from main node which strength is great.
I have the 5ghz-2 setup as the wireless backhaul and works like a charm. Ive attached a picture of the speed im getting from the 2nd node so not the main router. Main router I basically get the same speed but lower loaded/unloaded latency.
I game on this mesh as well so i have gaming packets setup for QOS & works a treat i avg 18-25 ping in games like COD on wifi. If i was ethernet it would ovbs be lower. I have plugged into the node via ethernet to my pc to test and get around few ms more latency which is great means the routers work well at keeping the signal quality. Overall i really recommend these if you have gigabit internet!
Well let’s get the bad out the way first, the first unit that arrived was faulty due to transformer not working and trying to get Amazon support to understand this was very annoying.
Now the good, the product is feature rich, powerful and will suit the majority of high end users.
Prodotto ottimo e supporto full per fibra e porte a 2.5Gbps, purtroppo la UI non modernissima ma non gli manca niente
Obviously an expensive bit of kit. I’d tried various other options from all the top suppliers and eventually but the bullet and tried these. Wow.
The signal speed is top notch, I’m running wireless backhaul to other end of house and the node is getting max speeds (950d/950u).
App is simple to setup and use and features all the functionality you can imagine and more. Highly recommended if within budget.
I am a refugee from Orbi and couldn’t be happier. An excellent system with very helpful support. Highly recommended
Not long ago I had posted my average feedback regarding the single pack of XT12. Left me pretty disappointed. Managed to get a great Amazon warehouse deal for a XT12 2 pack in December. Setup wasn’t a breeze, not sure if the previous owner hadn’t reset the system properly. Took me over an hour to get it up and running. Boy oh boy this is a massive upgrade in speed and coverage compared to the below mesh systems
Eero pro 6 and 6e
ASUS xt 9
Tp link deco x 95
Linksys velop MX4200
This thing has literally painted my 1000
Sq ft apartment with strong and high speed Wi-Fi internet. I do find that that the system needs to be rebooted every night to make sure the wireless backhaul connection stays strong. After 45 days of use I can say it’s the best mesh system I have used till date. Would I pay full price for it? Definitely not. Should you get this instead of any other equivalent system in the market? Absolutely.
I don’t seem to get the hate surrounding this cracking piece of kit.
I have no streaming issues with movies and games on the Xbox series S. Games also download super quickly on the console. No disconnections and a consistently great experience.
This replaced a netgear R7000 and a ex7700 extender setup. Coverage is much better and no noticeable delay when switching between nodes walking through the house.
I’ve only played with a few of the extra features including disabling WiFi during the night on a schedule. One notable point was that I had to configure my PC to prefer the 5G band as I used to have a dedicated 5G SSID and found it preferred the 2.4G connection on the new merged 2.4/5G network giving a shaky connection when the microwave was on which dropped a few Teams calls at bad moments!
This is no doubt an expensive product but it is easy to install; simple to update using the Asus app; it works well, definitely improving coverage and signal strength and it looks fantastic.
Overall, it has improved our wifi coverage.
I would recommend it if you have a tricky wifi location where you need super strength boosting.
Easy to set up, stable signal much faster than our old system
Had a slight problem setting this up. The app was not that intuitive for me. Once this was solved it works really well. I had router and repeater before and had switching between them was an issue. With this it does a really good and I get great reception throughout the house.
Easy to set up .but not on an ipad , I had to use my iPhone, was excellent and simple to do took 15 minutes.
The range is amassing I I have one unit down stairs and one up. I ca reach the end of my garden 30 meters away and still get over 200mbits on a 350mbit connection. Very happy
ROUTER FCIL DE INSTALAR CON LA APP DEL MVIL EN VIVIENDA DE 2 PLANTAS Y FUNCIONA DE MARAVILLA COMUNICNDOSE AMBOS POR CABLE, COBERTURA TOTAL EN VIVIENDA DE 245 M2. TAMBIN HE AADIDO UN ROUTER DE ASUS QUE TENIA POR CASA PERMITE ACCESO A LA RED MESH, LO HE COLOCADO EN EL GARAJE Y TAMBIEN FUNCIONA DE MARAVILLA. TENGO CONTRATADO 600 MB Y ME DA POR WIFI VELOCIDADES 350 Y 570 DEPENDIENDO DEL LUGAR DONDE ME ENCUENTRE EN LA VIVIENDA. MUY CONTENTO.
Finally a mesh system that works well with fibre. Having gone through 2 other mesh systems before this whixh included an asus mesh, i was sceptical but I decided to take a punt due to the prime day discount and i was pleased to see i was right in the choice. I had done my research before on various sites and it was between this one or the et12 which was wifi6e and decided on this
Speeds have been good. I have fibre installed rated at 900mbps down. With my previous setup i would get 300 down when close to the router now i get 600. On the top floor inwould get 50 now i get 200.plus les interruption or loss in connection.
Overall worth the price albeit being expensive
Probably the best router on the market, changed a few settings and running like a charm and it also looks good, it doesn’t even need the additional mesh and it’s running like a true tri brand router with zero lag and minimum ping and full gigabit Wi-Fi 3 floors away
Excellent Wi-Fi 6 Mesh. The two router system is easily covering a four bed detached home, getting > 800mb/s Wi-Fi on an iPhone from both the router and the satellite.
Very stable. Two weeks in and it just works, at all times.
Works with BT TV IPTV, with support for IGMP Snooping (requirement for BT TV). Note not many Wi-Fi mesh systems support this. This means you do not need the BT Home Hub, instead can plug straight in to a modem or ONT.
We have lots of IOT devices, which generally cause issues – all working perfectly.
This router is compatible with the Merlin Firmware, which is an alternative to the native ASUS firmware. I highly recommend this – it is a very stable firmware.
I highly recommend the ASUS XT12.
I live in a castle house with extremely thick walls, some of them 2 meters wide. So far I haven’t found one mesh network strong enough to get a normal signal in the house. I bought 4 of these and covered 3 floors perfectly. The 10 antennas with the backhaul connection are fantastic. It is a bit of an overkill system but for those with specific needs, this is the way to go.
I had a AiMesh combo GT-AX11000 + RT-AX92U which was very unstable (wireless backhaul constantly dropping to 2.4GHz band). After much hesitation I decided to give Asus AiMesh another chance with a system dedicated for it, and this XT12 seemed to fit the bill.
So far I’m very happy with it. The AiMesh has been stable for weeks, the range with 2 units is amazing.
One issue I had when setting up: I originally left Smart Connect on to have only 1 SSID for 2 bands (the other 5GHz being dedicated for backhaul), and with that setup, AiMesh was very unstable, with the satellite unit loosing connection (fast blinking green LED, not sure what that means). As soon as I removed Smart Connect, everything was good. As it’s my preferred setup, I’m not too bothered, but still, that costs 1 star… It may be down to firmware as this product is fairly new.
In term of speeds, nothing to complain about. It’s handling well the BT FullFibre 900, and Wifi speeds are satisfactory.
Bonus: Merlin firmware is supported on this device, and has been working like a charm (gives a much more reactive UI as well…)
a couple of things to note.
wifi 6 can be dual or triple band. triple band uses 6ghz channels. 6E is triple band and JUST uses extra 6ghz channels. there aren’t many because they’re 160mhz wide and there aren’t many things using the 6ghz channels yet, so a wireless backhaul is going to be your main use of these for the foreseeable future.
if it uses ‘5g’ for the backhaul, use cable, it’s quicker.
if you have a complex network (SOHO), you’re likely to need a good wired backhaul. in that case you need devices that will work like access points and have a lan port with 2.5g or better. lan will be full-duplex at these speeds. remember an advertised speed of 4808 wireless is 2404 for full-duplex communication (and that’s theoretical), which means wired still competes and is still more reliable. here, dual band is all you need it you intend to use a wired backhaul. dual bands tend to be considerably cheaper than these devices (as good as they are) as they have fewer aerials and things… also, remember wifi 6 is about busy roads, not fast roads… the roads are wider, not necessarily quicker… so if you have a house with phones, computers, tablets, watches, telly’s, firdges, washing machines etc.. you’ll be surprised how busy your network is. wifi 6 makes for a fairer world. if the device is (phone, watch, tablet etc) is not wifi 6 and it strugged before, it will still struggle. on devices that aren’t wifi 6, wifi 6 will make no difference.
the 6E version of this product isn’t available in this country yet, revealed by the classic ‘not in stock’ status by everybody claiming they can get them. and of course those extra couple of channels come at a premium, in the from of yet another 400 quid… rarity breeds inflation.
700 quid is a lot.. i’m pondering between these and the XT8’s. both have a 2.5g lan port.
Firstly no way would I pay 700 but for a warehouse price 410 I’m happy ,a worthy upgrade from the xt8 WiFi no difference one unit but 2 units and it’s perfect not the prettiest but feels heavy and time will tell
Good but you want the ET12 for true Wifi6
Reception and manageability are up there as expected with ASUS equipment.
This is one of the best wifi mesh systems I have used. The AX capabilities are very good, the signal very stable and the ability to use WIFI as a backhaul medium on a dedicated backhaul channel really works well. The product also enables the added ability to run at AX on 160MHz bandwidth(very few devices can connect to this that have been released but it is future proof). If you want you can use 1GB wired connectivity as backhaul as well between the different routers. The WIFI signal quality is brilliant and
setup is very easy. I replaced a Broadband providers wifi with this mesh and went from very unstable wifi with to a very stable anywhere wifi across my home, I highly recommend this product set. Great Product ASUS pricy but definatly the way to go.
Good WIFI6, but not E.
No VPN Fusion on this device.
I use them wired : #1 plays the role of opening the modem/router and #2 and #3 extend the coverage.
It’s nice to have a unified WIFI plus guest WIFI.
