Keeps an 50+ kg rottweiler in check not to go upstairs so it should be able to keep your child in place as well .
    Good quality overall

Good sturdy stairgate, instructions are not clear but if you have put a stairgate together you should have no issues. It does the job!

.Gate works well and seems sturdy enough. Took my partner about 40mins to put together and install. Did need the two of us to hold in place when placing on the stairs. Work well with wall protectors which we also purchased .

I am happy with the quality of this. It’s shuts very secure and sturdily fits into the doorframe. I got it to seperate my seven month old from the puppy.
I find it easy to open and close. We have older children too, 8,6 & 4 and all can competently open and close this themselves. The four year old did struggle and wouldn’t have managed it if we didn’t teach her the method.
We are pleased with the quality of this. The fixtures and fittings look like it will outlast the requirement to have one meaning we will be able to sell it on in the future.
    It’s also easy to clean.
It is also possible to open and close this very quietly. Ideal when trying not to disturb a sleeping baby or puppy or both when we are lucky!
My wife installed it without reading the instructions, whilst I was out, it took her a few attempts before giving in and reading them to see where she was going wrong. I later looked at the instructions and thought they were simple and well put together.

Installed at top of my stairs. My baby tried to shake it but the gate aren’t budging, very tough and secured product. Recommended to buy this if you need a baby stair gate.

I nearly didn’t buy this because of the reviews by some people. It is easy and logical to assemble to fit the large gap.
Let’s face it, it is a child safety gate and not a space rocket. Lay it out in the ground and work out how it fits together. Very easy.

This gate was purchased for a pet rather than a baby but the best pressure safety gate I’ve ever had! Used with one extension, this gate fits our internal doorway perfectly and feels as secure as if it was screwed in, much better than a previous one we had for our toddlers. I love the easy close function. You can swing the gate shut behind you making sure the area is secured even when you’ve got your hands full. Purchased with a Black Friday deal, great value at 45. Pleased with it so much I’ve ordered a second. When it arrived it does look like it’s not right at the top as there is a gap but this is I presume a design feature to help with installation and to maintain the pressure when the gate is fitted.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersReally unfair reviews been left here so I’m here to give a fair one!
Please ignore anybody who says that it’s misshaped/doesn’t fit/uneven. ALL baby gates come this way because you need to tighten the sides in to make it totally secure. So once you have tightened in the bolts then it fits together perfectly. I’ve had tonnes of baby gates and this is by far the easiest installation I’ve had. Instructions are clear. Lovely looking wide/extending gate. Just don’t make my mistake!!! Measure the width of skirting board too . I’ve just managed to squeeze it in at the bottom which is great. Very sturdy, lovely looking, easy install, loads of bits to use if desired, clear instructions and speedy delivery. Cracking! Thank you

Ignore other reviews that say it’s faulty. Excellent!!!!! All explained in my review :)

I always worry when I see the old give us a review and we will do such and such notes in products. In this case a competition to win something or other. I understand that reviews are gold but let them come naturally, especially when your product is great. Just as a side I didn’t enter the competition for this one. I like my reviews to be unbiased.

It’s a great gate, the instructions are fine, by no means good or better. Just take your time, go through all the steps and match up the parts and you will be fine.

Once installed I can’t say a bad word about it. Works perfectly at the top of our stairs. An easy recommend.

Great sturdy gate and good value but the assembly instructions are horrendous, pictures and all the writing are over complicating it ended up putting them aside and working it out myself.

easy and quick to put together, cheap but very sturdy, hopefully will last. bought as a dog stair gate, and narrow gaps so working well, to keep my puppy from running up the stairs. It looks like i should be able to move it when required and is strong frame, which can open both directions.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was looking for a sturdy gate to protect the child on the landing when he might suddenly run out. I was looking for a suitable model for a long time, since I needed high-quality, strong, beautiful and suitable both in size and fastening.
Among several companies, I noticed BabyDan’s products and continued searching for a suitable model directly on their website, where I found this model.

I needed the size to be adjustable and fixing without screws, since making holes in the walls was impossible in my case. I ordered it through Amazon and in just a few days I received this model from England to Israel. Collected quickly thanks to their application Onbox, where step-by-step instructions are accompanied by a user-friendly interface and video instructions. The only drawback, I did not find a video – how to attach extensions.
In general, I am satisfied with the purchase. Watch a short video of the already installed gate

    Robust child safety gates

This is a great baby gate. Really easy to install, very sturdy and easy to open. I especially like that it opens both ways (not sure if all baby gates do that?!) And the width was perfect for the doorway where we needed it. I would highly recommend this gate.

Absolutely shocking picture instructions (as other reviewers mentioned!) I managed to put it together because I had fitted another stair gate before, otherwise I would have been clueless!
However it’s very sturdy once in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy gate, TERRIBLE instructions!

Assembled on our stairway to stop little terror from getting upstairs and eating all the cables. Took a little bit to assemble but once I started I was simple. Easy to take on and off.

The instructions did not make it clear how to fit it with and extension or at the bottom of the stairs where the skirting board made it different widths at the top and bottom. I even used the fitting video you could download from the instructions but it only showed the gate being fitted into a standard opening without the extension. Good thing I found a video online telling me how to do it. If I’d realised it was so simple I’d have had it fitted earlier! That said it’s fitted and does the job, although my hubby did say it’s tilting and I should have used a spirit level! The tiny spanner is a bit flawed too as it is a bit too big for the nuts and kept slipping.

    Instructions are not great!

I bought the product with one extension to fit on a space of 90 cm. It fit perfectly and took me like 10 min to unpack and mount it.
What made me buy it was the size of the gate’s opening, that is bigger than the average. It’s more comfortable and practical that way. And a rare feature in ‘pressure’ gates.
No complaints what so ever, it works, it is easy to assemble and sturdy.
Another perk is that I can take the extension off and fit it in a normal door if I need in the future.

This was a good find to replace another safety gate which we were not happy with. It takes some time to fit and we used wall nanny adaptors (also purchased from amazon) to help us. You need to follow the instructions carefully and will find that the gate straightens and comes together at the end, until this point it will look like you’ve got a faulty product. But the tightening stage is where the gate will align and shut.

Very happy with this baby gate after searching high and low to find gates to fit our wide stairs! Instructions are difficult to understand but managed to figure it out. Very sturdy, easy to install once you know how.

Gate is sturdy and easy to assemble. To help the assembly, I’d recommend to download the Onbox app on your phone then use code 6101 or 7101 and follow the easy to follow step by step guide (much better than the paper manual included in the box)

The stair gate is great but the instructions are not! Once we figured out how to install the first one the 2nd was really easy to assemble. Now they are up the gate is very strudy and easy to use! There is a gap to begin with but that is how you know you have installed the gate correctly. The gap will close once it is tight enough.

Instructions aren’t the clearest and are small but it wasn’t difficult to work out. Just a bit of common sense needed – took probably 20 mins from unboxing to finish. I ordered 2 at the same time, received one today and for some reason the other isn’t coming for another 3 days so it’s a good job we weren’t desperate.
Don’t listen to the comments about it not fitting. It’s a pressure fit gate – it will fit to the gap you have. Once it’s pushed in to where it needs to be, it all lines up fine!

  26. Jemma says:

Once the gate is up, its good. But boy are the instructions bad. This has been mentioned on other reviews. But I thought after too many years on this earth, it can’t be that bad. Take a peek at the jpg of the instructions.

Useless confusing key letters, mind blowing diagrams for the different size options. Be careful if one side of your gate affixes to a wall, you cant get the top bolt in if you follow the order of instructions. It also gives the option for screw or stick the wall/stair caps, but it only gives you two sticky pads. I thought the package was short but no, you only get two..

Its a long time since I’ve seen instructions as bad as these. The gate is good, I understand the “gap” problem, its part of the safety design. But please stick with the instructions, its tempting to throw them away, but it is a safety gate, stick with it. Your brain will be frazzled, but baby or dog in my case will be safe.

The gate is good, shame about the instructions

I did a lot of reviews of different baby gates. I want to buy without lift the handle bar, so this gate is perfect! no need to lift the handle just shut it up or close quietly. you can buy extensions how many you want. so very happy about this gate. now thinking to buy second one for top of stairs.

his product works well in tricky spots due to the pressure-fit design.
Only issue like everyone else is instructions and I could not find instructions/video online.
Good value for money. My space was 86cm at the bottom due to skirting and 90cm at the top.
    Used at bottom of stairs.

Arrived fast. Very easy to install. Incredibly sturdy. First night after I installed it, forgot it was there and crashed into it in the middle of the night. It survived the impact. And trust me, I know how to crash, been playing roller derby for many years, taken down some very heavy players before!

I had a product recall on 2 cuggl stairgates we purchased so bought these. I’ve always know BabyDan to be a trusted brand however I did notice a couple of negative reviews on Amazon about the instructions/ fitting etc. Yes the instructions are a little on the small side however I had no issues understanding them and as far as the feedback regarding closing the gap, that happens on all stair gates, you need to tighten it sufficiently to the right pressure so the gate closes, honestly it’ super simple to fit. Feels so much more robust and sturdy than the cuggl ones I purchased.

  34. Anonymous says:

The instructions are only pictures and no words, and I was a bit confused at first, but in the end I have one sturdy gate up and running.
Many reviews said it did not fit and they had to return it (some even included pictures), but I seen enough high reviews that I decided to take a chance (and amazon are good with returns).

Sure enough there appears to be a large gap, but once you have tightened the bolts, they surprisingly pull the frame into position.

I plan to purchase a 2nd for the bottom of the stairs.

This one is manually closing where some others were auto close, but it stills closes with a hard push, i.e. you don’t need to hold the opening mechanism to close it again. It clicks automatically into place. Comes with sticky pad wall protectors and the choice to use them or screws (which are provided).

Golden Review Award: 49 From Our UsersSo many people complaining there is a gap at the top and sending it back. This is part of the design. When you get it on and pushed against the wall, the force of doing so brings the sides into line – see pics attached. The angle of the side out of the box is designed so that when pushed so that the side is upright, the correct tension has been reached.

I honestly don’t know why the suppliers keep sending out replacements, there’s no need.

Over all a fantastic gate. Instructions a bit rubbish but once you work it out its actually quite simple. Sturdy enough that our 18mo old has no chance of pulling it off the wall, super easy clasp system that only requires a button press and lift to open – the closing you can do just by pushing it shut.

Definitely recommend, don’t listen to the bad reviews saying it’s bent out of shape. They really should point this out at the top of the description or something.

GUYS ITS NOT FAULTY, THE GAP IS DELIBERATE - fantastic gate.

  36. KaylaDoolette says:

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThe manufacturers would make life a lot simpler with good instructions. Nowhere do they explain that the frame looks distorted/bent(knew this from Amazon reviews -thank you reviewer). When the gate is mounted the pressure brings the gate into line with the frame. The other problem with the instructions is that they are in such small print and pictures. Surely they should be able to do better e.g. bigger print or reference a website or Youtube video.
After fitting the gate seems sturdy enough and fiddly enough to open to prevent a small person opening it. Time alone will tell.
Quality control is also not good. Had to send the first one back as the one fitting nut/bolt was damaged so that the adjustment nut would not run. There was no way to get a replacement bolt/nut so I had to return the whole thing which was a shame.

Manufacturer needs to include better advice

Replaced a stair gate that was recalled by Argos because of a safety issue. Much easier to install than the last one. Sturdy to keep toddler behind bars. Other gates I have had self close this one doesn’t, But then you can leave open to take stuff up and down when little terror toddler is away at nursery.

Very easy to install and fit right to the wall – I didn’t need the extension in the end as it fit quite snug without it. The release button is very stiff to start with but I assume this will loosen in time. Happy with purchase and recommend

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFab baby gate! I was searching for a decent baby gate to fit our wider doors (new build home) without the need to screw it into the doorframe.
There are cheaper ones out there, but once you add on the cost of the extender, this is actually a pretty decent price plus it’s a good brand too 🙂
Installation is pretty easy, just follow the pictures, yes I did need to squint a couple of times to make sure I was following it correctly, but once you’ve figured out the parts, they just slot together. Took me maybe five/ten minutes
Now it’s up, it feels really sturdy, won’t be easily opened once my little boy is walking as you have to lift it up slightly to open the gate. It opens both ways, win!
Really happy with my purchase 🙂

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNot sure if mine is faulty, I’ve just received a second one and that’s the same . It has a big gap between the gate and the frame, I thought once in position it would come together, but I need the incredible hulk to fit it . It’s so stiff, without the extender it fits the gap but won’t pull in to close the gate, with the extender I struggle to get it in th gap. Not the quick pop up when the grandkids are over then remove when they have gone I was hoping for.
Having spoken to someone from babydan they have explained that due to extra safety measures. You can nolonger just pop in a baby gate like you could when my children we’re young. They have supplied me with a gate that is fixed to the wall but can be removed and erected quickly, they were very helpful, so with a little extra knowledge I am now very happy and would recommend babydan as they have been do helpful.

I used this to block the stairs off but with 2 teenagers relying on them to close it was a tall order so I love this gate as they can just slam it shut.
It’s quite narrow and the stairs in my new build are quite wide so I bought an extender too.
I fixed it purely with the pressure points and didn’t stick or screw the cups on the wall like it tells you to in the installation guide so it does move around a bit, but seeing as it’s only to keep the dog downstairs it’s not an issue. But if your planning on keeping small kids in or out I would certainly follow the proper installation instructions and then I am sure it will be more sturdier.

Excellent.. *****!!! So easy to install and was looking for a gate which was slightly wider than the average pressure gate I could find.. without having to buy extensions. The locking mechanism is really clever too as it “closes perfectly” with a push close- ideal for when you’re hands are full. Gate feels really solid and well made. Usual fast delivery from Amazon too!!
